Jumpers! Have you ever died?

>>50957161
I personally think that you should make EX a thing like where you could possibility of createing a functioning prototype to a Magic, with generations of research and such, but that you have yet to attain it. But If I had to chose I'd go with the silliness of the first option with the statement "Your magecraft is almost on the level of Magic" taken to A+++. So, something like the first with a bit of the third options, Valeria.

Something like Utilitarianism would probably say this is okay, but give me the views of "normal" people.

In a setting where hell is real, is it morally wrong to eat/absorb/burn for fuel/whatever souls that would have otherwise gone to hell, provided that the suffering you cause them to experience is less than what they would have otherwise experienced in hell?

>>50957209
What kind of question is that?

Of course not.
>>
>>50957232
Nope. According to virtue ethics at least their eventual fate doesn't change the morality of your act.
>>
Speaking of Accelerator, what is the 'God of Motion' power that you get with tier 5 telekinesis in Railgun?
>>
>>50957258
Extremely high level TK with a range of 100 meters.
>>
>>50957241
Well, by Virtue Ethics >>50957232 is in the wrong as he is treating people as a means and not an end.

>>50957232
You're right, Utilitarianism wouldn't bat an eye to that. Most people don't have an explicit, codified moral system so they'd find it aesthetically repugnant.

Well, that's basically what I imagine 'you're almost at Magic' to mean in a way. I think I'll go with that, though it'll probably just go in the rulings section of the supplement until a good while from now when I can completely redo the Skills section in a second overhaul.
>>
>>50957232
To me the most moral action would be to destroy Hell and free the souls. As it is you're taking advantage of a repugnant system.
>>
>>50957278
>Once again, jumper solves a moral quandary via the liberal application of violence
>>
>>50957232
No, Utilitarianism would not say that was okay, unless you were doing overly edgy tenth-grader Utilitarianism. "It's okay for me to cause people suffering, because they would have suffered even greater if someone else had done it" is still evil, by Utilitarian principles, as the decline in the utility of the tortured souls is still less than the increase of your utility. Besides, it's a key component of Utilitarian philosophies that you're not just minimizing the decline in utility, you're actively avoiding taking actions that would cause any decline. Any decline in utility is to be avoided, when we cause it despite our best intentions that is a horrible consequence of the practicalities of our world, not something to just shrug your shoulders at and accept. You don't seek out actions that you know will cause suffering. Get your weak-ass moral equivocation out of here before you insult the ghosts of Bentham and Mills they come back to haunt you.
>>
>>50957209
Once, when I was seven, very briefly. Scared the shit out of my parents.
>>
>>50957276
>Well, that's basically what I imagine 'you're almost at Magic' to mean in a way.
The difference may be in the fact that true magic is breaking a rule outright somehow and being Infinitely Close to Magic is bending the rules. Like how a reality marble isn't breaking the rules cause what's inside isn't being forced into Gaea's system but keep in it's own World. If you wanted to break the rule you'd have to reproduce a Gaea accepted replica of Excalibur or something for no prana cost as if you just reached in and pulled the sword out of your inner world into this one, which would be theoretically the First True Magic: Denial of Nothingness. Just my two cents on that subject.
>>
>>50957313
There is absolutely nothing wrong with insulting utilitarian though. You bet you kant even find a good argument otherwise.
>>
>>50957209
God-tiering in Sburb.

I also took Can't Keep Down the Clown and Rainbowdrinker, so the amount of damage need to put me down made things... messy.
>>
>>50957232
That's a bit like saying "If I kidnap criminals from a jail and make them work for me, but I release them when their jail sentence would be up, am I a bad person?"
The answer is yes.

If a soul is consigned to hell as part of their divine punishment, you're perverting the course of divine justice if you're stealing them from hell and eating/absorbing/whatever them. And if there's an infallible god (or his representative angels) handing out just punishment, then going against that is, by definition, heresy and morally wrong.

You only get away being morally right in this situation if you convince god that the just punishment for a life of sin is for a given soul to be assigned to you to punish.

Even if the god isn't infallible, or isn't handing out just punishment, it's still morally wrong to use those souls in that manner, again unless each specific soul is judged to deserve such a fate by an authorized and just judge. Otherwise it's merely a different kind of kangaroo courts and vigilantes and lynching.
>>
>>50957326
Anon, I want to get in a philosophy pun-off with you, but I've been suffering from some insomnia and can't really get the clever word-play down. I'm sorry. Can we do this some other time, when I can properly satisfy you?
>>
>>50957231
>>50957276

Wouldn't it be simpler to just make EX ranked magecraft something like 'You are a super prodigy when it comes to magecraft'?

>>50957349
I hope you feel better. Here, have a get well webm.
>>
>>50957325
Well yes, but like I said before, the intent is to not give out Magic. You can be very close in effects, which would mean you'd probably have a much easier time then most in getting to a real one, but you still need to get there.
>>
>>50957354
That's basically what it is. When Nasu or others say 'almost like Magic' that's meant to be a comment on how powerful or unique the effect is, rather then actually comparing it to True Magic since otherwise it'd make no sense as True Magic isn't necessarily powerful and is really only qualified by being a magical art that humans of the current age cannot replicate with technology.
>>
>>50957209
Often. But i have extra lives, so it's okay.
I generally restrict myself to in-jump powers only for my "first" life, just to keep things interesting.
Not counting utility powers/quality-of-life stuff like needing less sleep, using magic to clean my clothes or similar stuff.
>>
Well, just finished the original Books of Magic. My mind is sufficiently screwed, and I am now freshly terrified by the existential implications of DC magic. Also, by the idea that Constantine is one of the few beings that will survive in some meager fashion at the end of the universe, right before Destiny turns his last page and Death puts out the lights

Does anyone know if the sequels are worth a read?
>>
>>50957380

To clarify I meant less 'Your spells are super powerful' and more 'You might as well be the expert when it comes to actually understanding this stuff'.
>>
>>50957365
Could we actually acquire True Magic if our magecraft were good enough, or ist that banned?
>>
>>50957422
Well, yeah, Magecraft is just skill mostly. If you're looking for power it'd be the Mana stat.
>>
>>50957365
That's what I also meant, working prototype of True Magic but not yet there. Like how Shirou's Reality Marble in my example might be a step away from Denial of Nothingness, if DoN is literally creation of something from nothing with no energy loss in direct ignorance to the Conservation of Energy.
>>
Are you into contracts?
>>
>>50957437

True. Just thought I should clarify that I meant less 'Super spells' and more 'You probably don't get why people seem to find this complicated."

Although the 'close to magic' thing gets even weirder when you remember that Age of Gods Magic is (or at least was) a thing.
>>
>>50957446
the hell is that?
>>
>>50957404
Not as good as the original, but they're good. Also, if you haven't read the Sandman series or Death: The High Cost of Living you might want to give them a look. If you liked the Books of Magic, you'll probably like them too.
>>

>>
Is there a perk that lets you turn off or temporarily remove perks - even those from other jumps?
>>

You can acquire it in jump yes, but there is no way part from the one perk in the upcoming FSN jump to jump straight to having it. If you're acquiring it in jump, you just need to either obtain it from a current user (Which reminds me I need to put in something about that) or follow the method to gaining one to get one of your own (Which is entirely your problem to think of and make fair). Common risks include the Counter Force, accidentally going too close to the Root and going insane and so on.

>>50957442
I feel that prototype is a very poor choice of word here. No matter how much Shirou mastered his Reality Marble, it'd never just become completely without cost. It's similar in effect but just being similar doesn't mean they're in the same category at all.

>>50957456
Oh, yeah, makes sense.

Yeah, that's...confusing. Ended up specifically looking around for that and it appears it's more like yet another case of "It's not ACTUALLY Magic, just magecraft that's so close that the two are indistinguishable." As usual this is inconsistent with at least one or two other things so take it with a grain of salt.
>>
>>50957469
I've read both the latter ages ago, yeah. Feeling pretty pumped at finding this hidden trove of Gaimanverse stories.

How worse/better are we talking here? Like comparing Lucifer to Sandman, or the 2016 Lucifer to Lucifer? Is there a "cutoff" series you'd recommend I give up at? I do hope to read The Age of Hunter since apparently that's when Timonthy starts to come into his destiny proper.

>>50957446
Those aren't aliens that Dung Beetle is sending you to fight. Those are humans from another dimension. And whoever loses any of the fights gets their home universe destroyed. And if you're the last survivor of this insane tournament? You become the new Dung Beetle, and organize the next one. You don't get a choice, your mecha's systems will force you to do it. No one even knows how this thing got started, it just happens. Did I mention that your mecha will eat your soul, meaning you only get one fight per pilot, and you have to keep feeding people into this thing to resupply it? So even if you do survive, you've seen all your fellow pilots die, withering away from the strain of fueling your weapons systems? Bokurano is some bleak shit, y'all.

>>
>>50957232

There's a slight issue with this question. Even if the answer was 'Yes' actually fulfilling the conditions would require actually figuring out how to measure the suffering caused by hell, the suffering caused by souls absorbtion, and then comparing them.

Which runs the risk of increasing the suffering value by a lot if you want to make sure the results are accurate.

There's also the question of what form the whole 'soul absorption' process takes, the willingness of the souls involved, and other similar stuff.
>>
>>50957537
We need a Getter jump. And a GaoGaiGar jump. And a Mazinger jump. And pretty much every major Super Robot jump, we have very few jumps of that genre. Some Real Robot, sure, but nothing with that hammy goodness of rocket punches and drills and eye lasers. I think Gurren Lagann might be the only one we have aside from Super Robot Wars. That can't be right, can it? Do we have other Super Robots?

Oh look the Mary Sue Assassin, one of the worst aspects of Strange Fake, returns to haunt me. This is a collection Noble Phantasm, like GoB, which aren't allowed because they shatter any sort of SP balance that exists. It's not just one power that can accomplish a bunch of things, it's quite clearly all the other Noble Phantasms of the other True Assassins. And even then the Accelerator power can accomplish a bunch of those things.

There's a suit made of corrupt souls in the DC Occult jump. They help you by absorbing damage and empowering you and earn forgiveness that way. That's one moral way to do what you want.

Otherwise eating/absorbing/otherwise destroying souls is capital E evil in pretty much every setting ever.

So, not quite sure how much of it is game mechanics, but apparently the shield from Bioshock can only be improved by infusions ten times. Would it be possible to use something like EVO to enhance it?
>>
>>50957960
It was created early before the whole canon companion in every jump was a thing? I'm not particular sure though.
>>
>>50957980
It just game mechanics as far as we know, that said you do only have a limited amount of CP to buy things with so that acts as a limit as well.
>>
>>50957960
Muyo Anon likes to force his "interpretations" of actual canon into his jumps, so it's not much of a surprise that he wants to limit interactions with canon.
>>
>>50957995
Yeah, but couldn't you find/make more?
>>
>>50957996
I actually agree 100% with that - I don't like interfering with canon in most cases, either. It's just early in my chain, and I'd like to pick up a companion there.
>>
>>50958006
I'm pretty sure these things should not even exist in the actual universe and there just used to help the Player not die as much. So probably not.
>>
>>50957980
The limit as a hard and fast thing is probably just mechanics, but there's the possibility that there's an actual practical limit to how much you can shove into a shield in-setting. Regardless, EVO and bio/technological know-how to improve the relevant infusions should work.

If these things were left behind by the Luteces then they were real pricks about it. Hiding a lot of them in locked or hidden rooms and the like.

This, desu. Can we all go to SB?
>>

I'm actually not, I stick to Sufficient Velocity, which doesn't have a significant Jumpchain community that I've encountered. I know what you're referring to, though, the same sort of annoying Planetary Annihilation Self-Insert fics get posted on both sites. Not surprising, a lot of fics posted on one get mirrored on the other, but you get my point. Regardless, I wasn't trying to hide anything. I just didn't think the source of my hate for Planetary Annihilation was relevant. But yes, there's a lot of PA SI shit on Spacebattles.
>>
>>50958301
>Sufficient Velocity
You mean SB's tumblrite sister that's infested with SJWs twice-over?
>>
>>50958310
Maybe? I mostly stick to the Creative Writing board, where it isn't too bad. But I can't rule out that it's a worse issue on other sections of the site.
>>
Geez, it's already New Years Eve, where did the year go? Anyway, jumpers, have you ever taken a canon character under your wing as a student/apprentice/etc.?
>>
>>50958323
Oh, yeah, all the time. It's one of the more interesting ideas of Jumpchain, I think, to be able to help characters through the rough parts of their developmental arcs. Being a cool wise old mentor with genuine charisma and understanding (and out of character knowledge) can smooth over a lot of problems they might have. I admit that I might also take advantage of this position to push them towards ships that I support, though. But hey, they're happy, and I'm subtle enough that they don't notice the manipulation, so it's not like it's really anything wrong.

“We’ve been here for eighteen minutes.” I noted. “How do you know it heals people?”

“Ranma and Ryoga are having a sparring match.” Yumi said as she slipped off the strange belt so I could put it through the Pixelator. “They both asked me for dodging incentive.” she shrugged and I nodded in understanding. They’d asked her to shoot at them.

Frequently. Being the hero myself got boring after a while and i don't really have a stomach for being a villain and doing it RIGHT.
I'm also usually too lazy to hero. So mentoring it is.
That way i get to laze around with a clean conscience most of the time while my little protegee deals with all the crap that heroes have to deal with.
Not to mention that trolling your students is great fun.

You can always give them loot. Barring that, use teacher perks (found in lots of jumps) to teach 'em things real good.
>>
>>50958481
Uh, well there's the demon capstone from SMT (sacrificial something or other) that lets you give them powers and/or perks via a demonic worm that crawls into their brain through their eye (oddly doing no physical damage but causing immense pain and probably some trauma as well). It does cause your powers to temporarily decrease by half, though, but you will get it back in time and the one you gave it to will achieve the level you're on in time.

First off, you need a good solid science backing. I prefer Tenchi, because Washu is amazing but one of the other top tier science perks, like Gift of Chao or the like, should work.

Then jump Venture Bros. Theres a perk there, and tech to back it up, that lets you implant memories with a degree of ease.

Then grab your genetic powers of choice: strength, magic, psionics, and what have you.

Do all that and make an injectable cocktail that gives someone XYZ powerset and the knowledge of how to use it.

BUT, and this is important, before you give it to someone make sure you've grabbed a magic fiat contract perk or two. Make them swear loyalty or whatnot before you juice them.

If all of that is too much work, just go to Innistrad, go all in on the Church tree, grab another jump that lets you be fueled by prayer and let the hero(es) of your choosing pray to you for intervention / divine magic.

There's a way you can do it without even lifting a finger.

-Mutagenesis (Generic Post Apocalypse)
-Getting The Gang Back Together (Shaman King)
-Exceptional Company (Tenchi Muyo)
-Realm of Myths (Civilization)

Then proceed to hang out with them and watch as they grow taller, much more beautiful, stronger, their own innate skills and talents increase in potency, and they start developing superpowers/beneficial mutational effects on themselves without ever getting ugly. Sage of the Forest if you want to have it snowball when you leave.

For magic, do Magitek Mastery from FF6. For Psionics, do Synchronicity Event from F.E.A.R. For soul stuff, you can either use Inner Self from Demons Souls and stuff a piece of your soul into them or use that weird Glove of the East from Binbougami to infuse them with spirit energies.
>>
>>50958481
Disgaea has one, Main Character, letting anyone you want level up, RPG style.
The Gamer power from the jump of the same name lets you party up and share your gamer perks.
Completing any two Star Wars jumps lets you awaken the force in people.
Completing Naruto lets you give people chakra.
Job Offer from Dresden Files lets you assign Emissaries post-jump as one of its choices.
Sacrificial Bestowment from SMT lets you give away any of your powers via demonic worm infestation.
The swordsman capstone from Mushoku Tensei lets you create a swordstyle and lets anyone you directly teach become as good as you.
The dojo in Overlord LN does something similar.

You can also always just copy/create tech or magical artifacts and hand those out, use genetic tampering or just teach them to be Batman.

Well if it's non-Catholic Christian Hell, you're supposed to burn forever and ever once you go there. Basically a game over. No redemption.

Which means infinite suffering due to infinite time, right?
So literally anything less than infinite suffering is a markedly better way to go than burning forever in Christian Hell. You'd be doing them a favor by destroying their souls. Though it's still repugnant, to me.

Not sure how it works in other religions. Or even in Catholicism, because that shit is complicated. You gotta pray to saints and Jesus' mom before you can get a pray-appointment with Jesus? What?
>>
>>50958858
Not an especially powerful one but yes,it is so much easier getting to sleep as a kid when you know that your house is actually warded against any supernatural nasties, which helped because haunted places were what we Could afford, to this day I'm not scared of ghosts because I grew up with ghosts.
>>
>>50958875
I thought you were an atheist now. Do you still believe in magic and ghosts?
Not trying to be a dick btw I'm just curious.
>>
>>50958873
In some interpretations of the Bible, Hell explicitly doesn't exist. The Lake of Fire is something that burns things out of existence, so the Fallen and the Damned won't be tortured for ever, they'll just... cease.
>>
>>50958875
So what you're saying is that you ain't afraid of no ghost.

Ghosts are kind of creepy, but they're really not Something people need to be afraid of, the mass majority of ghosts are just kind of their and a rare few are no worse then particularly Dickish cat. there's outliers For everything but you're more likely to be harmed by a cow Then a ghost.
>>
>>50958915
All right so you don't believe in any deities but you do believe in the supernatural. I get it I think.
Non sequitur: have you done the Fast and Furious jump? I could see you being a delinquent youth in Tokyo Drift.
>>
>>50958873
>Catholicism
That's...that's not how it works. At all. You don't need to pray to the saints or the Virgin Mary, you just have the option. You can always pray to Jesus, it's just in Catholicism it's considered okay to pray to the saints or Mary for help/guidance. Like, there's a saint for finding lost items, and you can pray to him for help in finding lost items.

Also, Hell depends on what camp you're in. There's one camp that says that everyone will be redeemed eventually, and that we will all return to God, even guys like Hitler or the Devil himself. It just takes a while in Purgatory, which is where you're guaranteed to go to Heaven, it just takes a while because you've sinned and need to pay for your actions. The other camp is basically "Look, some people are going to go to Hell, but that's not because God sent them there, it's because they kept rejecting God and they choose Hell." And then you have that one group that believes in eternal damnation as punishment for the wicked. Catholicism has a lot of different ideas and theories regarding the afterlife.

Sort of. It's about being an actor in a sentai show that becomes real, and you have to fight actual aliens and giant monsters. Imagine if Samurai Flamenco was a strategy RPG, that's Chroma Squad.

Shit, now I want a SamFlam jump. Pretty sure that's a bad idea, though, the final boss would defeat every jumper in existence given that he's a metaphor for escapism. Putting him up against an escapist fantasy will only make him stronger.

Cat Wizard has officially graduated to Eldritch Abomination as of Infernals. This is the first Jumper I've made who didn't stubbornly stay human until the last possible second.

They are now much older than any human they will ever meet, and while they're a self-styled 'friend of humanity', they feel amazingly awkward and uncomfortable in places like school settings or work. They also have enough arcane power and appearance perks that turning off Toggle at any point risks literal and metaphorical 'mind blown' moments to anyone who witnesses it. Among other things.

Thing is, after suffering Prison Break and 66 million and everything inbetween, what do Eldritch Abomination jumpers do in their spare time when normal cerebral pursuits get boring?

I don't have a complete writeup yet, but my Prison Break plan mostly boiled down to a less explosive version of canon ones: 'Tether' myself to Creation via outside context bullshit and proxies working on my behalf, yank a small part of it down to where I was in Malfeas, then slingshot myself (literally) free. All while dealing with the shite the other drawbacks threw at me.

Adorjan caught my leg on the way out. It didn't grow back. So I needed to make a new one.

My math SHOULD be correct. I hope. Please point out if it isn't. You made me want so many damn things, you devil, you.

Right, so, most recent RWBY episodes revealed something pretty important: 1. Ozpin has merged with Farm Boy/Oscar's soul, and is able to talk to him, share memories and thoughts, and maintain some independence. The same thing happened to him when he was a boy. 2. More recently, Qrow's semblance was revealed: Misfortune. Everyone around him, friend or foe, is more likely to experience misfortune. Qrow seems to believe that everything from Summer's death to the fall of Beacon is his fault, because he can't turn the damn thing off. So those are some pretty big reveals about how Aura and Semblances can work.

>"God, the big man your pale lightbringer rebeled against," the older man was dead serious, "what do you think he fears?"
>"The hell you talking about?"
>"If my God, whom I believe in, is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent as I believe he is then why does he allow suffering? Why is there good and evil? Why the institution of hell at all? I'm sure both of us can agree that frolicking naked in Eden sounds a mite better than what we have here. So why all the fuss?"
>"I..." Everyone was stunned.
>"Hell is a place where the worst of the worst are gathered and tormented, do you think they rebel? It's logical they would. They'd have to get damn good at fighting to fight the third of God's host that was cast down right? Billions of souls fighting as hard as they can against a portion of Heaven's host. I bet you get a bit good at it after a while, killing that is. What is God so afraid of that he saw the evils of humanity and thought up a institution that sounds an awful lot like the worst kind of place so that he could forge billions of dangerous killers of the highest order with more experience than any know soldier in the world? These questions keep me up at night, son, cause he's kind but he's also emotional. He gets angry and I personally think he feels fear. Because when he said let there be light something was already there and it fled with the dark."
Old man wasn't right about his facts, I'm no zealot, I can't really tell you what was wrong or right about his speech but I always think 'Why does evil exist in this world' and coming back to 'maybe something worse is on its way.'
Sorry to bring this up, we should go back to the other things we were talking about. Just had a thought.

The recent Exalted stuff reminded me of a thought I had.

If the moon deity Anon that dislikes Luna from Exalted is here I had a thought for an alternate solution that might be worth considering.

You could attempt to extract the other entities Luna absorbed when being 'created' from her, give them their own separate forms, and then figure out if any are salvageable or not. It's possible that some might be more preferable if they weren't stuck together with the others.

Alternatively figure out if you can upgrade 'Willing Assumption of Chains' (This would likely required out of setting stuff or the Maidens help) to give a more preferable god the job of moon management, and then demote Luna to some other job.

Marvel said it wouldn't be as good as the actual material or that if it was , it would be as inflexible as the actual material. French toast is a taste of the divine we have been blessed with, and thus I will push it within my themes as an Eldritch Titan with great enthusiasm and fervor.

As for the leg, no, but I did end up making a constructed leg that has sweet-looking blue runes 'flowing' through it when I want to show off.

If I get around to it, I'll be happy to show ya. May or may not revise the build when the finished product is out. Oramus goes horrifyingly well with the magic combos I use. You did a fantastic job with the jump and I love it! Sorry it took me so long to get around to building for it.

Mostly just going to add a drawback and a perk for the finished version, so there's not much that'll change. Excepting scenarios, which will be later.

Psst. Nikamoth.

Reincarnation isn't a 1-up. It just creates a metaphorical 'rebirth' and a toggle switch for your powers and levels. It doesn't bring you back to life if you die.

You may wanna revise that a little.

>>50959986
Take banana bread and dry it out. Either wait for it to dry out naturally or put it into the oven in slices for about 15 minutes or so. You want it dry, not brown.

Wait for it to cool.

Then make your usual french toast dredge: flour, cinnamon, vanilla, cream, etc. Dredge the banana bread in the mixture and cook on a hot griddle.

If you want sweet but not overpowering, garnish with banana slices and powdered sugar before putting on maple syrup.

If you want full diabeetus mode, substitute the syrup for fresh whipped cream and warm chocolate sauce.

It is amazing and, full disclosure, accounts for at least half of my repeated sexy teims. I am not above cooking for sex.

Jump #233: Command & Conquer: Tiberium
>Nine of Swords (Cruelty), reversed: Attempting to avert a shameful or regrettable act.
This is a crapsack world, it needs fixing. So yeah.
>Age: 23
>Location: Yellow Zone
>Identity: Drop-In
>Drawbacks: Scrin Beacon (+300)
It's okay, I'd want to exterminate them with the quickness, anyway.
>Tactical Genius (Free, Drop-In)
Not quite on Creed's level, I'm sure, but every little bit helps.
>Health Bars (1200, Drop-In)
This seems eerily familiar...
>Tiberium-Resistant (1000)
This is an absolute must for this jump. I don't want to accidentally bring any tiberium with me.
>Call For Fire (Free, Drop-In)
Being able to call in support fire at the drop of a hat is good. Being able to actually ensure it hits the target is better.
>Silo King (800, Drop-In)
>Propagandist (400)
Now all I need is a catchy slogan. Kane lives in death, jumper lives with bonus charisma? Sure.
>Sound Master (0)
There's a whole lot of cool sound-based technologies here. I'd rather play with them than tiberium, that's a genie that can stay in the bottle as far as any future jumps are concerned. With this I can construct an orbital bass cannon. Or something close enough to it.
>>
>>50960233
This is one jump where I will be happy to abuse the fuck out of SupCom tech. Just give me one engineer to set up shop in a remote section of the yellow zone that I start in. That's fine. Beats taking Sajuuk's carcass out of mothballs and using it to build - while something the size of that could build planetside while it's in orbit, it wouldn't be the ideal solution for many a reason.

Now I'll take that engineer, and I'll set him to the task of replicating himself. After I've got... oh let's say sixteen of them, I'll set them to the task of building a base. I'll be taking my time, as there's really no reason to cannibalize the planet, after all. At least, most of the planet.

After that's been established and the base has some solid defenses, I'll start poking around. Looking to see where in the world other places are to set up shop in the yellow zones. And once THOSE bases are established... we start making some sort of aircraft that can harvest resources via particle beams, and begin mass production of those. In addition to that, making complexes to filter the atmosphere through, since tiberium particles are apparently a thing to worry about in yellow zones, not to mention red zones.

With aircraft using the Homeworld method of resource collection, it wouldn't take so long to clean up the Tiberium worldwide so as to be burdensome. In fact, if I use the resources I collect to set up MORE harvesters, back-of-the-envelope calculations say that I could clean up the majority of the world within a year, and the red zones within three years.
>>
>>50960241
Of course, since some dick named Kane just set off a liquid tiberium bomb, it means I have to redouble my efforts, but it's certainly doable. Sure, it means I'll take twice as long to get everything done, but it should keep the long term casualties to a minimum. Especially because if I don't do a perfect job at it, eventually tiberium will manifest again and I won't be around to clean up the planet. And if the planet doesn't get cleaned up, it's going to be uninhabitable to humans inside of a century.

That is of course when the Scrin invade. Because we need aliens on top of everything else, right? So that's the point that I decide to get serious. Suddenly there are mechs the size of office buildings running around and annihilating aliens, engineers capturing their bases wholesale while the mechs soak up the attacks, and GDI has not the slightest clue what the hell is going on.

And although Kane is a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything etc, after the liquid tiberium bomb went off, I made a point of tracking him down, then just giving him a small self-sufficient warp capable ship so he can go wherever the hell he needs to go, and told him to fuck off to space so as to leave Earth to humanity. Because whatever he is, human is not it. And if he wants to reverse engineer a fusion-powered warp drive, since there's no dilithium in the universe, let him.

For that matter, the world's governments can have the husks of my scrapped tech once the planet's free of tiberium. They can probably make something useful out of them, even if I made sure to take away the best bits.

>To Get Through The Work Day (400, Immigrant)
Hey, don't look at me like that. Drinking is an important part of the social environment of this setting!
>Fey Mood (100, Immigrant)
Also so is going crazy until something awesome results.
>Brew Master (0)
This perk, you see, is the key. While I wonder if I can apply it toward brewing other things like potions, there is no doubt that I can make some downright epic ales and such.

Brew Master means alcohol, which means I can drink to fight fatigue and sanity loss. It also means I can make alcohol to trade with dwarves. Sufficient alcohol trade means I can get them to dig out resources and sell them to us, which means we can build a citadel, a trade compound, and act as a bigger trading post for them to get more from anyone who isn't a dick to us. Which means anyone who isn't a goblin or kobold because we're going to hunt them all to extinction.

So by the time I leave, there should be a nice little tower of babel stretching to the heavens. And an army of humans drilled in the Roman methods of combat to exterminate every goblin and kobold.

Also I went into a fey mood much less than I expected to, but more than the dice might initially indicate. Seventeen times. It's lucky that I can manifest literally anything I need in terms of tools thanks to MMBN, which probably kept casualties down. I left the jump with a lot of pretty furniture for the warehouse, which amuses me more than it ought.

Jump #235: Age of Wonders
>Two of Pentacles (Change): Shifting the importance of projects and priorities to keep everything on track.
>Location: Aldor
>Identity: Drop-In
>Drawbacks: Numerical Limits (+200), Revolution (+200), 3650 Turns (+200)
So it's actually being played as a strategy game. With proper limits and people who are unhappy no matter what I do. Faaantastic.
>Mobility (Free, Drop-In)
Never hurts to be able to get through rough terrain with the same ease I'd have going through all other terrain.
>False Balance (1300, Drop-In)
Well, now I can play with Thor's hammer if I want to. Too bad I didn't have this during Dresden Files, I could've juggled a few swords for fun too.
>Path of Life (700)
I'm okay with having the flip side of the Wastelands perk. Especially with a wider area of effect.
>Spellcasting V (300)
You can expect that I'll be taking four spheres of Life - this means I can resurrect people, though apparently they technically count as undead? Curious. Also I can cast a spell that makes everyone in the world like each other a little bit more. Kind of digging that. I suppose I'll put my other three in Water as there's some good synergy with Life.
>Companion Import (0)
Well, it's not so fun to play alone, now is it?

There's no grand plan for this jump, just wandering about having fun during a global war and purging any undead that I come across. Even if I am limited to the best that anyone can be in this world, I have all of their best at once so I'm still better than them.

Also I'm making an army of robots. Because no one expects that in a fantasy game and frankly we need more magical robots. So what if they're limited to the power of a mundane army? I can crank out robots that make robots that make robots that make robots.

Everything will be fire. I mean fine.

Hey, what does the Crisis drawback on the Carnivores jump actually do?

How dangerous/powerful are Force users in the EU? I know they're moreso than in the movies, but by how much? Need to see who I should be careful about antagonising.

>>50961387
Starkiller makes poopy face so hard that he yanks an Imperial Star Destroyer out of the sky.
>>
>>50961387
That depends entirely on the time period and individual.
>>
>>50961387
There are Sith rituals to snuff out all life on a planet.
>>
>>50961387
Depends on the user. They range from "roughly as dangerous as a normal guy with a laser sword" to "don't even be on the same planet as this one"
>>
>>50961387
Nihilus is Force Galactus, he's capable of devouring the life force of every living being on a planet. He only lost because he tried to eat the Exile, who's a wound in the Force, and thus weakened himself even further. He was already hungry, and after that, he was vulnerable. Other then that? Stay away from him. Revan in KOTOR is described as being one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, and managed to slaughter a massive army of dark jedi, Star Forge battle droids (so they're powered by the Dark side), sith lords, and sith soldiers before killing his traitorous apprentice. Luckily, he should be a good guy by the time you arrive in KOTOR. Aside from this, there are Sith rituals capable of destroying stars, Abeloth (though you'll never face her) caused a planetary apocaylpse while near-'death' as a distraction, and Sidious could create Force storms capable of destroying entire fleets in Dark Empire. Not sure if he can do that in OT as well.

>>50961421
This is actually incorrect. It was already falling on him due to gravity, the only thing he did was move it so that it didn't crush him and his ship.

Yeah, and his ultimate goal was to do the same to the entire galaxy. Or at least it was before the Eternal Empire showed up. I swear, that shit ruined what little character the Emperor had. His whole thing about being able to be anything he wanted in some other galaxy, a peasant, an artist, a farmer, was torn to shreds by that.

>>50961799
Alright, strap yourself in, because this is some serious bullshit right here. Essentially, the Sith Empire? The Galactic Wars that were the center or at least a heavy influence on each class story? All of that? Was a distraction. The Sith Emperor was secretly building ANOTHER empire for centuries, he even had a family over there. This empire had its' own legion of force users, wielded technology that was made by some mysterious precursor race, and curb stomped both the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic in what's implied to be less than a year. Not only is this stupid bullshit that came out of nowhere, it makes everything the cast of the KOTOR games and the TOR class characters pointless. Revan never stood a chance of stopping him, because even if he "killed" the Emperor and beat the Sith, the Emperor would just waltz in with the Eternal Empire. The Exile's sacrifice was in vain, because she was trying to kill a puppet body, not even the real Emperor, just an avatar. All the class stories? Didn't matter, because both the Republic and Empire got stomped. Everything was pointless. Literally the only class that did anything was the Jedi Knight, who prevented the Emperor's "everyone in the Galaxy gets eaten by me" plan, and the Emperor came back anyway because Revan was a dumbass pawn.

>>50961867

Right at the start of the arc. PC and Marr are trying to find the Emperor, the Eternal Empire comes in and stomps the coalition (at this point, both the Republic and the Sith want the Emperor dead) fleet, Marr and the PC get captured, the Emperor kills Marr when Marr tries to defy him, and either the PC or Arcann (the Emperor's son) kills him, depending on if you decided to kneel or not. Kneel has Arcann kill him while he's distracted with you, not Kneel has Arcann distract him and you kill him. Either way, his spirit enters your body, and you get frozen in carbonite for three years. The Eternal Empire isn't going to pay your checks because they want you dead, and everyone else is too broken or poor to pay you.

Twice but I got better. The first I challenged SMT God for the fate of humanity. I had an extra life which he made sure to blast away imidiately then hit me so hard I was only still alive because of the part of save the world that let me hang on with a small fraction of a single hit point.

The second I fought cyborg Hillary Clinton for the heavy weight title and was going to win but she installed a nuclear bomb in her chest incase she didn't. SO to safe everyone in the arena I grabbed her and flew off to deep space as she cackled how she had won because she was going to kill me (I suspect she had a backup body). I told her that i had an extra life and shoved my fist through her chest activating the bomb before she could do anything. That was the WWE jump so that's why it was so weird.

Most people just companion their friends/girlfriends. And then go off to get mindraped by Angels together.

Okay, it's kind of a problem that you have to pick canon companion options when you enter the jump - you don't really know if you want to take anyone there with you before you get there after all unless you're some kind of creepy fanboy trying to get his waifu.

It's probably weirder to have a jade-blooded Seadweller than a violet-blooded Rainbowdrinker.

>Does it have copy protection to keep you from making another one with alchemy?
Nope. But duplicating something with Sburb Alchemy does have a cost in Grist.

Which, in the case of a Matriorb, is so astronomically high that Kanaya could not afford to duplicate it even after winning the game and releasing the Denizen's hoards.

So, using Sburb alchemy for it is impractical, to say the least. ...Though I just realised, if you buy one and duplicate it with something else, you could cash in the duplicates for ridiculous Grist gains.

I'm not defending ME3; I'm aware of what the complaints were. And you're right, Liara does her primary shift in ME2. More specifically, she changes after character creation / import but before you wake up and start playing ME2 proper. That being said, no ones optimism survives the ME series. People get tired and jaded over the course of the series, and while I'll admit that can be unpleasant to some, I think it's honest and realistic given what the characters go through.
>>
>>50962736
>people got tired and jaded

For a second there I thought you were talking about ME3's ending and I was going to say something amounting to: Fuck Andromeda. Because Bioware's taken one too many big, steaming shits on my good faith by having the nerve to market a VN with some interactive parts as an actual videogame.
>>
>>50962765
A VN with ugly girls at that.

You can pick either Violet or Jade if you have both perks.

>Poison Siege

I'm totally cool with those.
>>
>>50962765
I was talking about ME, at least the characters over the arc of the series.

As for faith in Bioware, I agree. There was a time that I'd eagerly get Bioware stuff on day one, if not preorder. Now I'm much more wait and see. CD Projekt Red is the only big game house that has my complete confidence anymore. Depending on how they handle their next game, I may downgrade Bethesda as well.
>>
>>50962765
>steaming shits on my good faith by having the nerve to market a VN with some interactive parts as an actual videogame.
Wait what? I haven't kept up with the news, but I was holding on to some vague hope for Andromeda. Inquisition was alright, even if it was the most SJW game I've ever played.

I blame EA.
>>

Is there any chance of you removing the "things must go according to the plot" part of the canon end jump mode?
They deserve better than this post-canon garbage.
>>
>>50962889
Same.
>>
>Get with Liara in 1
>Tell her to fuck off in 2, get with Tali

Liara really had the last laugh desu.

Coolie-o.

It's kinda been a trend for a few years now. Every new game gets lazier and lazier, so i wouldn't really hold out much hope.
The times when i've pre-ordered anything or even bought a game at launch are definitely long gone.
I can't even bring myself to get excited about upcoming games anymore. There's always that little voice in my head going "better wait and see, you just know they'll probably fuck it up somehow no matter how cool it looks/sounds".
>>
>>50962898
also Fuck konami

>Not sticking with Tali throughout the trilogy
Besides, Tali wasn't bad in ME3. Her story line was fine, and she was cute in that one DLC where she got drunk.

That part's not enforce by fiat, only by Paradox Space and Lord of Time powers.

You're basically just inserted seamlessly into the plot, and need to find a way to accomplish your objectives yourself. That's it.

So, get a way to screw with those two yourself? It /is/ an end jump option...
>>
>>50962967
Anon, you can't romance Tali in 1.
>>
>>50962255
Anyone have that WiP? I'm having a hell of a time finding it, trying to search thought ever thread till Christmas.
>>
>>50962930
Yeah, but I was wondering if there was actually any info on Andromeda about that?

>>50962967
A lot of people were pissed that the appearance they chose for Tali was not only "human with white eyes", but the picture was literally a stock photo model from a random website.
>>
>>50963010
Well yeah, I know that. But it's...alright, it sort of works like this:
>Befriend Tali in 1, improve relationship with her and become a trusted friend
>Actually romance her in 2, help her with the Fleet situation
>Make the relationship solid in 3, earn best ending for Quarians and Geth, maybe survive in the Destroy ending?

Something like that.

>>50963019
Oh, that. Yeah, that was weird.

Yep.
Pretty sure that's what YJ said in-thread.
And it makes sense, in a way.
It's not like you're casting your muscles from a distance or something.

…But that would make neat 「Stand」…

>>50963607
Hi anon. I hope 2017 is a great year for you.
>>
>>50963234
There are some jumps where telekinesis is said to be based on what you could normally move. But will power makes more sense to me.
>>
Now that its the begining of 2017 I want to ask you, at what month do you begin your jump?
>>
>>50963701
January
>>
>>50963701
January.
>>
>>50963701
January.
>>
>>50963701
Unless the jump gives a specific date, and they rarely do, I usually just assume every jump starts on January 1st. It's just easier that way.
>>
>>50963701
Smarch.
>>
>>50963701
Depends on the jump's start time.

But January if nothing is mentioned.
>>

Right?

I mean, where the fuck do they even go with Andromeda? ME's a franchise literally built around fighting those damn Reapers. Even DAI took time to build up a plot about wolf god conspiracies and sad mad priests around all the tumblr pandering. Worse, apparently it's taking place a long, long way away from ANYTHING anyone could possibly care about in the franchise. Want to see how your Shep handles being a galactic overdeity, if only to see if it was worth the dreck of the last game? Fuck you, new game.

So either there's no new threat to justify faffing about, or they escalate. And at this point, I can't think of a way they could escalate without looking absolutely ridiculous. I can't buy the Leviathans as a threat in a way that doesn't shit on anyone who picked Control or-god forbid-Synthesis.
>>
>>50964358
Yeah, I honestly have no idea what they're going to do with Andromeda. If I pick it up, it'll be as an end of the year discounted GOTY. I'm curious about the story, but not in an invested way I was for the original ME. This is more morbid curiosity, like going to see an ex after hearing she got fat.
