As the other anon hinted at, honor. Honor honor honor honor honor. Though Arabic honor tends to not quite have the same definition as our usual one. Like that whole honor killing Kazpar brought up in the beginning of the dump.

Think of it more like, duty to the community and saving face. If you do something, your entire family might as well have. In the same respect you generally get the heads of the community to mediate conflict, because it makes you look good in the community to consult them and abide by their decisions.

Can lead to some very brutal tribal conflicts, if it gets to the blood feud stage of things (which is of course reserved for serious shit). Because you kill one of them, they of course have to respond to the murder of their kin and retaliate, gets very cyclical very quickly.

That said outside of the obvious marry who you are supposed to marry, and don't be a thieving bastard clauses, I haven't really found any definitive don'ts. At least not in regards to the Bedouin (whom I'm basing a species on in one of my settings).
