I'm of the opinion that he's secretly a blue dragon.

Even if Mengkare is a veiled master, Hermea produces the finest asses in all of golarion.

Hermean asses are for Hermean eyes only, if you want a nice booty than pick up a Qadiran or Osirion girl.

They missed Session 1 and Session 2, how can we trust they won't miss Session 3? The DM needs to boot that flake-ass player and put in someone who actually gives a damn about the campaign.
>>

>I'm not the GM or any of the players, but you should do what I think
Nah.
>>
>>50822042
>Should we relentlessly bully anyone signing up for a /pfg/ campaign as a wizard or arcanist?
Not really if the gm didn't want them in their game they would have stated as such.
>>
>>50822317

Imagine signing up for a high-profile campaign, getting in, and then promptly flaking on every single session because of unexplained reasons, often days or hours before the session.

The guy's a flake.
>>
>>50822356
And? How does this effect you? How do you even know this if you are not even a player or a gm, and why do you care?
>>
>>50822077
In that case you can just roll up a beguiler and be happy.

>>
>>50822356
Imagine not getting into a high-profile campaign and being so salty about it that you rant about it on 4chan.

Unless you're Catherine then you wouldn't get the spot.
>>
>>50822379
They probably care because they were rejected from the game.
Which is a valid reason to care, really.

Alternately they're a player
>>
>>50822392
Is it? Even without the other person in there is no guarentee they would get in, it would be better to spend time making your applications better to get into other games instead of brooding over one you didn't get into.
Also, this makes me curious if any of the pfg people have gotten into multiple pfg games, I see a lot of the same people applying for them.
>>
>>50822379

I have a solid memory anon, I remember last time they discussed HV and said a player didn't show up, and I remember last thread that player saying they can't make it to the next one too.

It's bullshit, complete and utter bullshit. I care because it's not fair to the myriad of people that desperately wanted to play - there were straight up some with life issues that meant every session mattered!

But nah, this player got in and is wistfully tossing aside their obligations because "I dunno, stuff?" Fuck him, he's the worst kind of player.
>>
>>50822384

There are millions of people in Qadira and Osirion, and Hermea only takes hardly a half-dozen from all over the world every year.

More Qadiran cuties die from horses than they do getting taken by the agents of Mengkare.
>>
>>50822432
I'm sure the player g=told the GM more than "lol idk stuff?"

>>50822074

I think there's merit in an adventure starting in Hermea. either as a group of youthful soon to be adults about to take their citizenship test. Or applicants being examined.

Maybe Mengkare decides to send the party out too seek out tomes, and lore about human genealogy and other useful subjects so that he can continue to improve humanity with each generation.

>>50822459
I know, i just like memeing.
>>
>>50822432
Calm down, anon. Lots of us didn't make the right group comp, and bitching about it is going to just make the GM want to hope the player who got pulled away manage to get in later rather than take on someone who's willing to rant about another person like you are now.

You don't sound very comfy at all to play with, even though you're upset!
>>
>>50822074
>>50822499

A Hermean campaign would be a high-level, high-attribute quest of GENETIC FREAKS unleashed on Avistan to complete some sort of objective, maybe stop a continental threat like a Justice League or something.

>>
>>50822560
Honestly I too was hoping the character would ditch so I'd have a chance of getting in, but wasn't going to decry them for it. That's just counterproductive. No-one would want to bring in a bitch player who demands the GM kick someone else out.

I'm not too bothered about missing two sessions myself since I couldn't make them either and told the GM in advance.

Oh fudge off with that you hecking dork, Golarion doesn't exactly work like that and it shows hard with places like Osirion having radically different names than Qadirans, or folk from Galt being differently named as folk from Cheliax.

But we all know you guys are going to be making Tien characters anyway, so what's the use?
>>

>>
>>50822755
>Why do you do this too me.

Molthune and by extension Cheliax are English dressed in a trenchcoat. Their titles and names have a flair for the dramatic or diabolical (which means Latin, of course) but at their core it's English.
>>
>Molthune is german but actually roman but actually english

>ustalav is prussia but actually the balkans
You guys aren't making it easier.
>>
>>50822775
>>50822786

Irrisen is Fairy Tale Russia, Iobaria is "normal" Russia.

Brevoy doesn't have a lick of Prussian in it, which is why I'm honestly confused by what you're trying to say here. There isn't a single Von or Hans or Helmut or Reinhardt in that place... But there are Olegs, Noleskis and Natalias. Hell, it's a commonwealth of kingdoms united in war.

>You're right about Molthune though.

>>50822786
I'm gonna wager the answer is yes.

On a somewhat related tangent; stoic, somewhat provincial Kievan Rus style knight from Irrisen now an expat in Molthune, yes/no?
>>
Maybe there ISN'T a direct analog to Prussia, have you considered that?
>>
>>50822698
>familiar rules and extensive modules,
So, people wanting more 3.5E content.

Anyone wanting more of that either is a powergamer or should play a different system. The only thing pathfinder is good at is rewarding system mastery, and people find a perverse pleasure in building characters far more than playing them. Characters can be played well in most systems but only pathfinder makes autistically poring over the rules have so much of a benefit.

It's like 1984, the elite are willing to eat shit as long as they can grind those below them into the shit they're eating.
>>
>>50822856
>Isn't that Varisia with all it's gypsies and stuff?

Nah, Varisia is a fucking mess of themes and memes but it's mostly Italy, especially on the coasts.

>So what do I do for names?

If Cheliax is the Roman Empire, than Molthune would consider itself the successor of the Roman Empire, ergo the Holy Roman Empire (or even go for something wild and crazy like Byzantine.)

>>50822863

That's what makes this whole thing unusual, because Molthune is *dressed* like Prussia but they're ethnically different. The State Budget being the Military Budget is a classical aspect of Prussian administration, and something Molthune does in spades.

Alright /pfg/, hoping to get a little more feedback in the new thread; camp follower-turned-knight for valor above and beyond the call of duty. She's in a little over her head and still double-checks every morning that she isn't dreaming, but she owes Molthune everything and by the gods she's going to pay it back a hundredfold and again. She's going to be the best knight she can; but she's going to make sure she never forgets where she came from.

Thoughts and feedback are appreciated as always. Picture spoilered despite being related, just for safety's sake.

I think I'm finally finished tinkering with Valeriya Deverin's character sheet for RotJR, looking for feedback:
http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1042857

And for posterity here's her greentext backstory:
>Daughter of Kendra Deverin and childhood friend of Ameiko.
>As a young girl she was wild and unruly as a reaction to her powers manifesting, her friendship with Ameiko was probably the only thing that kept her sane during this time.
>Was shipped off to boarding school run by the Magnimar Navy to "get disciplined".
>Initially spent a lot of spare time in Underbridge practicing her magic with local beguilers, but as she advanced in her schooling and matured this side of her life lost its appeal.
>Upon graduating, she joins the Magnimar city watch, but quickly becomes frustrated by the limits of what she could do as a guard.
>As she becomes more and more disillusioned she begins to return to Underbridge, feeding the beguilers intel on their competition in return for some formal training.
>Breaking point occurs one night as she witnesses a young Sczarni boy (around 12 years old) pocketing a dose of pesh and follows him to an abandoned warehouse on the docks.
>Inside she finds dozens of Tian girls in chains, sex slaves waiting to go to market. The boy is offering one of the girls a hit of pesh in return for sexual favors. Valeriya sees her best friend Ameiko in each and every one of the girls and goes ballistic. She beats the boy nearly to death.
>She is dismissed from the city watch and returns to Sandpoint in disgrace.
>Sandpoint is full of the same kind of corruption, the same kind of people who are willing to let criminals escape for the sake of due process.
>She takes on her vigilante mantle and stalks the streets of Sandpoint at night, willing to do whatever must be done to uphold her sense of justice.

Are there such things as intelligence divisions in Molthune's army? I have a character idea that is largely a detective or a field intelligence officer. Maybe a slight tactician slant, but it's looking like it's leaning away from that. What could someone like that do to become landed?

Here's what I I'd like to play.

Elf or Tiefling

Rogue 1 (chameleon or cutpurse), better stealth or sleight of hand
Feat: improved initiative
Wizard 3, Conjuration (Teleportation, for swift action dimension doors 3+int mod)
Feat: Accomplished Sneak attacker, +d6 sneak attack

Then go Arcane trickster, which allows me to sleight of hand (and disable device) from a distance, including in combat if unnoticed though I mostly will be using illusions and conjurations spells to control the battlefield.

For unchained Rogues, there's also a nice feat that would go well with the teleportation ability, cloying shades, that entangles all the foes when you dimension door, at both locations, to and from.

Is giving up the favored class and bonus feats from straight wizard level a huge loss? As for spellcasting, I lose 1 the very first level, but only the one. AT gives full spellcaster levels for all 10 of its levels, so by level 14, I could surprise spells, so when I do damage with spells on flat footed enemies I can add 7d6 sneak attack (of the element or class that the spell deals), that's 20d6, a nice opener when you scout ahead and get a surprise round (with alert and high dex hopefully even 2 rounds of flatfooted enemies).

Is the sleepy drawback a solid one for RP purposes? Or should I just take hedonistic? Does hedonistic have to be about boning people? Can it just be "I want to spend an hour reading/shopping/being a slugabed"?Can I negate the fatigue with the life sphere?

Sleepy is frustrating for the rest of your party, but if you're, say, a wizard, it's not that bad, since you were going to be resting for long periods of time uninterrupted anyways.

Hedonistic doesn't have to be sex, just something pleasurable and non-productive, like browsing a Taiwanese wood-carving forum. And yes, the fatigue isn't uncurable, but taking drawbacks that you can just undo is a bit of a dick move.

So you were born a tiefling. If both your parents are human likely you were seen as a blight or curse upon the household. Literally their child is an incarnation of evil. If at all possible they would have granted your privileges to the next born (especially if you were the heir).

If I were your parents I would have sent you to be fostered, but who the fuck would take you?

Only place I can think of is a church that would take a literally part demon as a charity case.
>>
>>50824699
Well you could use the being born a tiefling as either a boon or a disgrace depending on how the family feels about the mixed heratige, remember it skips generations so it may have just suddenly cropped up, they could have been disinherited and sent to the military to get them away from the more normal parts of the family in spite of being the rightful heir to their noble holdings.
Or if it is viewed as a boon they may have been given an officers position due to their noble heritage and be lower in the line of inheritance but be viewed favorably and supported by the family.
But figuring out how the family reacts to a tiefling is really the first step to a backstory for such a character, as that will influence their childhood the strongest in most cases.

If that's the "slave got landed nobility for pointing out an ambush against her own group", that takes things way too far.

For one thing that's not at all going above and beyond one's duty: "oh shit we're under attack" is the bare minimum of anybody's duty! When you're getting attacked, fighting back is basic basic survival. Rather than that, whether you're a cook or a general, the one who keeps their mouth shut instead in that situation is a damned traitor!
>>
>>50825011

That's actually my character, not the person you've replied to; and the 'above and beyond call of duty' was more due to 'instead of retreating and letting the soldiers handling it, charged into the fray to disrupt the ambush while everyone (other than the tired night watchmen) was waking up and grabbing their swords'. A soldier of any type, even just a logistics worker, is expected to point out ambushes, but no one could have faulted her for retreating afterwards; but she didn't.

Mechanically, Tieflings and now Intsune, because they can be jammed into damn near anything I tend to want to build and work. Fluffwise and in terms of actually playing? Half-elves, holy fuck I have made (and played) so many goddamn half-elves.

>Favorites that you have yet to play
I'm kind of partial to Wyrwoods, if only because I want to refluff one to a different, similar construct. Centaurs are pretty swell, if I try really hard to ignore the fetish shit. They're both wholly impractical for most games though, so I'm probably shit outta luck.

Sooner or later I'll actually get to play an Intsune, and I still want to play a Halfling, Dwarf, Dhampir, Tengu, and Kobold at some point. Was pondering a Dwarf for a Hunter||Warder build actually. Might be fun stuff, though it sucks I wouldn't be able to give the Hunter's companion any initiating.
>>
>>50825037
That could maybe help you qualify to take the citizenship test and maybe explains the extra 1k starting gold, but there's no way that would net you landed nobility. Like, THAT's unlikely for anything below "full-but-landless-knight literally took some arrows for king/crown-prince in that battle"

Well, the assumption is the logistics corps is as important to the military as the soldiers, so five years there is still five years in the military, and therefore garunteed citizenship, just less glamorous. I noted that the story of it kept getting bigger in retelling when soldiers were being interviewed after the citation for valor got kicked upstairs for review.

Should I just delete the whole character and start over? I thought it made sense, and I've posted a few times looking for help and advice but since no one replied with anything, I had assumed it was okay.

So I am considering my hobgoblin marrying a human woman. Hobgoblins and humans can't interbreed however, so he will not have biological children. Adopting is an idea for his children.

As well he could perhaps do some sort of slave breeding practice with hobgoblin slaves to sire children. Molthune has very good slave laws so a female hobgoblin slave would not be out of the question.
>>
>>50825170

On the other hand, though, this is Molthune, military service IS a fast track from 'whatever you were previous' to Imperial Citizen, which are from what i understand more or less unlanded knights *anyway*, you know?

I think the character himself would be much more included to the siring children through a slave. Wanting to ensure your bloodline persists is a very hobgoblin ideal. He could do both.

Or possibly pay for alter self for a short period of time to sire a child with his wife then revert back to hobgoblin.

Likely he will be doing both.

>>50825275
I think you're misunderstanding the situation and the anons:

Getting fast-tracked to citizenship would certainly be possible; maybe you saved a legate or something and they threw in a good word for you that way. Which, you know, cutting 2-3 years off "could die at any time" is pretty fucking awesome.

But it makes you a citizen; a big step up from slave, but it doesn't mean "landed".

A citizen can purchase their little house and own their little slaves. A Villa, not a Village.

"Landed" means you're now in charge of a region. At the very least you're governing over a village, within which there may be several Villas whose taxes and protection are now your responsibility.

If you got fast-tracked to citizenship, then chances are your goal is to BECOME a landed noble. You've gained a tiniest amount of rep (1 is infinitely far from 0) with a tiny number of people (again, 1 is infinitely far from 0), and now have a CHANCE to use that to start proving yourself and making something of yourself - a chance that "brian the baker" simply does not get to have, because nobody knows him beyond "is baker". HIS citizenship is a bureaucratic formality, YOURS was a reward.
>>
It is actually pretty hard to come up with variety of reasonable ways someone just becomes a noble.
Since the whole point of nobility is ... blood relations and very few exceptions to it.
>>
>>50825290

>>
>>50825343

But she was ALREADY garunteed citizenship when the paperwork was going down, anon; the event happened like four years and six months into her term of service, all she had to do at that point was survive it. She was not a slave at that point (and hadn't been for years), but was in service with military logistics and had served loyally for nearly the full duration of service, already guaranteeing her Imperial Citizen status if she survived it. It was kicking her up one point from that due to acting beyond the call of duty of a logistics worker.
>>
>>50825364

>>
>>50822856

When it comes to names, Ustalav is kinda mixed, but there are quite a few Slavonic and Romanian ones, with the odd German in the mix. Culturally, you have decadent enlightenment in the cities and central/eastern european dark medieval in the rural areas.

Plus, I don´t play many campaigns nowadays.
>>
>>50825351
It's Molthune though, the most meritocratic society in the setting. Sure you need to be born a noble in most places, but in Molthune 60 years of military service will do the job just as well.
>>
>>50825351
Very much this. There's gigantic barriers to entry, and those up there try to keep it that way.

That's why when some hero gets knighted you get all those nobles whom despite the heroic acts and glory will look down on the "fucking upstart" and try to tar and feather his reputation. Like, how fucking DARE he. His blood is SHIT. It's WORSE than shit. And he wants to stick it in your daughters? Or thinks maybe his sons could get to? ... They have to animate constructs to do it. There is so much land, so much untapped resources, that they only thing holding them back is there is no one to do it. Coupled with almost half the country splitting off and is constantly skirmishing with them, the fairy infested forest that just likes to fuck with people because fey, and the other forest full of lazy robin hoods, there is prime real estate for anyone who wants a bite of the pie.

Nirmathas. Border issues (minor) with Cheliax, Nidal.
>>
>>50825433
He's trying. Presumably.
>>
>>50825364
Very often, other nobles.
If you go back far enough (it can be very far indeed especially in a fantasy setting though; further than in real life) you'll eventually get not-nobility, but it's a slow process often directly linked to position requirements.

A general, for example, may gain a hereditary title. The emperor needs this guy in that position, but he's one of those hero types that killing-machined and superior-tactics his way up the ranks, so he wasn't ALREADY a noble (most officers were to begin with; in fact often it's a very expensively purchased commission) like all the other officers? You've got two choices: Have him marry and get adopted into a family so that he - but not his kids - will have that title... OR, if you've no other alternatives, he's now the head of a new family, and you're going to have to deal with some fallout.
>>
>>50825447
Being a not shit GM is also an option.
>>
>>50825428
>Who has Molthune been at war with recently?

Nirmathas broke off about 60 years ago. Cheliax and Nidal are too powerful to contend with. Andoran is an ally and Druma is too valuable a trade partner to start shit with.
>>
>>50825377
You're thinking too much like a light-novel and not enough like a bureaucracy.

They look at it this way:
>Currently citizen? Y/N . . . N
>Currently qualified? Y/N . . . N
>This is one hell of a reward!
>>
>>50825471
Then I guess the thing to do is scrap everything and start over from scratch? I can't just rework this character, she's too... set as it were. Damnit, and I liked where I was going with this; I thought the backstory was good and comfy, too.
>>
>>50825438
That means a high level of "you want to own your little slice of pie, by all means!", but which necessitates an equally tight restriction of "you're in charge of all those upstarts in province X" to keep from a spectacularly rapid degeneration into warring little warlords.

You could scale it back to just having gotten slightly early citizenship, and now having a chance to get more because at the very least you got it by being noticed, rather than filling out a form that goes straight to the archives.

Reading what I'm seeing there that doesn't seem like much of a change overall, just better fitting?
>>
>>50825459
Nirmathas it is then. I fed information from Nirmathas to Molthune at great personal risk for two decades.
>>
>>50825518

But the point of the game is that we're all newly landed knights, though; not just citizens but now given our own little villages to start and settle and grow. Rolling up with a character that is explicitly not a landed knight goes against the setup of the game.

Point of order, bureaucrats can be countermanded, and propaganda is a valuable state tool. It's not entirely unheard of for people to be promoted well beyond their means (but to the very least cost to the state in most cases) purely for a morale and propaganda purpose.

>>
>>50825586
>also think it would be pretty swell to do some mounted combat, even if I wouldn't be able to do it all the time

Something to discuss with your GM, I've never had an issue with a mounted character. I also really fucking miss my Pegasus Knight.

>tfw mounted combat is shit if you're not doing a small race and lancecharge spamming
Again false, while spirited charge lance is amazing, mounted Archery is quite viable. You could even throw spears if you don't want to use a bow. And depending on the kind of mount you get you could probably just do that and let them worry about melee. Also if possible prepare to stock up on reduce person potions and maybe bring a riding dog with you or something. Alternatively if you have a caster buddy who likes to summon you're good to go.

>expensive as fuck feat-wise.
A level 1 human fighter can grab Mounted Combat, Ride-By Attack, and Spirited charge. Idk how the Warder is on feats but a level or two dip on Fighter can't hurt that bad.

Surprise Charge and Resiliency are also good.

Mostly because of how derived stats work.

Dexterity governs:
AC
Initiative
Reflex Saves
A Bunch of Schools

Strength Governs:
Carrying Capacity

Now, Strength provides more damage, but defense after a point matters more than offense in pathfinder mostly because you need to survive that initial rocket tag volley. Dexterity gives you enough damage to return in kind on rocket tag, but also provides much higher defense.

I've got a character in mind for the Molthuni Knights campaign, but it's a bit wonky. Basically he was one of the scarecrow constructs used for farming that somehow became awakened. Would an Android be a good fit in for the race or would Wyrwood be better?

You're still penalizing them though, I don't see the point of allowing it.

It'd be better to just always throw str damage at them, as you would with any stat someone dumps in favor of powergaming. If I allowed dex-to-damage I would probably treat it like precision damage at least.

>middle aged hobgoblin cabalist vigilante stats

Str: 7
Dex: 16
Con: 16
Int: 16
Wis: 16
Cha: 10

I'm clearly doing something wrong here.

I said "if I were to penalize", because I don't see the point in penalizing a martial character any more than they already are. If anything, I'd want to give Strength characters more stuff, rather than taking away a basic functionality from Dex. Unless you're giving everyone a 25-30 PB

Admittedly, I'm also a fan of the Vigilante's Lethal Grace, and that one fighter AWT.

Maybe this instead:
Str: 7
Dex: 18
Con: 12
Int: 18
Wis: 12
Cha: 10

Ah, I disagree with dex to damage being "basic functionality" of a dexterity character. Considering all the shit dexterity grants you I think it's fair they shouldn't be able to compete with Strength characters at all when it comes to damage.

Wyrwood are too high of race points for the Molthuni game. The limit is 17.

So I'm the anon from a few days ago that had a bajillion questions to ask about PoW, with the intent of building Sanji from One Piece. My DM was so blown away at the potential power of PoW that she decided to make everyone gestalt so the rest of the party could keep up, so when I looked at my build I realized that going into the UC Monk perfectly filled literally every hole an unarmed attacking Stalker[Vigilante] needed to have filled.

I now have a character who, at level 1, can flurry a sneak attack/power attack at a +4 for each blow, doing 2d6+8 per hit, and that's before using any of my maneuvers. If I spend my feats right I can get Sanji's signature Whirlwind attack (seen here http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/onepiece/images/c/ca/Black_Leg_Style_Infobox.png/revision/latest?cb=20130527005745 ) by level 5.

This is insane, and I have you bastards to thank for the initial lesson on PoW.

That's actually a terrible example. Joan of Arc was a religious nut whose entire claim to fame was that the king was crazier than she was, and her religious 'visions' upped the morale of a handful of "squad broken" cases when she stood there with a banner.

Just a handful, too; she died less than two years from when she first attended councils as a divine oracle, and when you consider the travel and campaign times....

She was cannonized, but not made nobility, either as I recall.

Strength can already do way, WAY more damage than Dex can ever dream of. The plus side of Dex is that it actually has things aside from damage it can do, which has been a problem with strength from the get-go.

>damage is not the basic functionality of a martial character
u wot

Again, if you're using a good PB to compensate for enforced MAD, sure, go ahead. Your logic is pretty much how I assume Paizo does shit, and I admit I'd like more things like Lethal Grace, but immediately canning Dex-to-damage because "muh damage" just seems knee-jerk and dumb.

The second group still gets shit done, not that you'd know.

Sounds like the OPPOSITE of what you said, to me.

Why can't a Warder Stack Dervish Defender and Ordained Defender? They both "alter maneuvers", but neither seems to tread on the other in terms of what maneuvers they alter.

Broken Blade, Cursed Razor, Piering Thunder, Primal Fury, Scarlet Throne, and Steel Serpent have one bleed maneuver each. Thrashing Dragon and Tempest Gale have two.

>>50826881
They can, if you're going by DSP rules and not Paizo.

>Strength can already do way, WAY more damage than Dex can ever dream of. The plus side of Dex is that it actually has things aside from damage it can do, which has been a problem with strength from the get-go.

That was what I said, and it should stay that way because dexterity can already accommodate for so many things it shouldn't account for. Mostly skills. Meanwhile there are very few options in the way of giving str versatility, for example you can't add substitute str to AC, Reflex, number of attacks of opportunity, initiative, etc.

>damage is not the basic functionality of a martial character
You're saying that. I don't know why.
I said that it wasn't the basic functionality of dex.

I've been able to play martials just fine on low and high PBs, sounds like a personal problem.
I can dex to damage because it's stupid, mechanically and thematically.
