Did a bit of writing for Lavender while waiting for the next update. A dossier-style document in the style of an investigator's documents from Call of Cthulhu.

Considering the realm of the Brides of Teiatat, and indeed, the realm of eldritch horrors in general, even mundanity itself may be considered a threat display of the highest magnitude. That which seems "normal" blends into our reality all the more readily, and thus can be considered advanced camoflauge by these fell creatures. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Bride of Teiatat known only as "The Many In One", sometimes called "The Mother Of Dreamers". Again, truly benign names that hide her truly insidious nature.

Description:
It is said that The Many In One's appearances on this plane coincide with an appearance not dissimilar to the guise of Guan Yin, the East Asian bodhisattva associated with compassion, and often referred to as the "Goddess of Mercy". and may be considered the most widely beloved Buddhist divinity. Eyewitness accounts report her as having eleven heads, an uncountable number of arms, though one may infer the number to be one thousand, each set with an eye in the palm, also numbering one thousand, "radiating the aura of Enlightenment".

Sightings:
There are no active cults to The Many In One. Any that do pop up are short lived, usually lasting no longer than season at most. Interviews of former cult members, (a peculiarity in and of themselves, as most cult members are not content to go quietly when confronted with their pasts, nor willingly share what they have seen, either through trauma or mistrust) reveal that almost universally, when a Bride of Teiatat is summoned and she is heralded by the creature known as The Eunuch (who may be classified as a subtype of illithid offshoot, exhibiting behaviours as such), who takes the still-living sacrifice for itself, and uses them as a mouthpiece to announce the arrival of The Many In One. Why The Eunuch, typically known as a servitor directly to Teiatat of the Three Thrones, also serves as the herald of The Many In One is unknown, but cannot be dismissed out of hand.

From this, The Many In One reveals herself, typically in the form of aforementioned Guan Yin. Perhaps in keeping with her charade, she heals the sacrifice, stitching their flesh whole, though it should be noted that all the while, the Eunuch will have begun, and will continue throughout the entire time, sexually assaulting the sacrifice using a cluster of tentacles from between its legs, corrupting it and turning its skin black. Hardly mercy at all.

From this point forward, accounts begin to differ from eachother. The Many In One then selects anywhere from one to most of the assembled cultists, beckoning them to come to her, "into her loving embrace" are words that are frequently used. She communicates something to them, although what exactly is a matter of mystery still, as no witness volunteering information has ever come forward, and The Eunuch ensures that no-one approaches.

After The Many In One has embraced each member, she releases them back to the rest of the coven, declaring each of the embraced to be the "blessed children of Teiatat", and that they should be obeyed as her own. This has predictable results, as accounts by former cult members corroborate a pattern of cult collapse that usually follows, starting with the loss of faith in the power structure, divisive factions, and infighting, leading to their eventual dissolution.

The sacrifice, by this point, whose skin has been turned completely black, is taken back through the portal and are never seen again.

Notes:

Almost to a one, former cultist members who have volunteered to be interviewed have noted that the "blessed children of Teiatat" all appear to have changed from their brief exposure to the eldritch, including but not limited to: Increased intelligence, increased physical ability, additional limbs, increased magical power. Again, no "blessed children of Teiatat" have ever been found. Cultist practices being as secretive as they are, makes identification difficult. But they seem to not bother anyone, and so many consider The Many In One to be benign, as far as eldritch horrors go.

It looks like someone tried to destroy this page.

There exists, however, one document, written by an investigator who found themselves within the domain of The Many In One, then returned to write it down before going insane on the next case. They describe "a great house, of Asian provenance, wherein resides a great lady whose radiance was blinding until she turned it down, who was attended to by ten ladies- and stewards-in-waiting," some of whom shared her appearance, some of whom did not, and all of which were "unflappably loyal to her, reporting to her on every little matter."

The document continues to describe the lady's movements as "leaving an afterimage behind her with every tiny motion, "like an Earth, Wind & Fire music video", and that occasionally, out of the corner of his eye, "see things that weren't supposed to be there, like a third leg, foot and all when crossing and uncrossing her legs, or an arm that suddenly became incredibly muscular before returning to normal, or eyes that suddenly grew multiple extra irises and pupils, just for a moment."

The account continues on to reveal that The Many In One's goal is the accumulation of power, to control anything and everything of worth, and that anyone and anything could be a sleeper agent that will become active as her whim desires, and that this is the nature of her title, "Mother of Dreamers", because "to dream one must sleep, and she gives birth to sleepers who rest until they are fully formed".

The document concludes by swearing that all this information was volunteered by The Many In One itself, without reservation, and over a dinner of brisket, sausage, and slaw.

Without corroboration, there is no way to determine the veracity of the information.

Hey, newbie cyoa maker here again. Here is a small update to that cyoa that I started. I decided to format the races a bit differently. I got rid of the roll, and changed the intro a bit. Probably gonna change the intro more. I decided to add proper numerical stats, but I am not sure how to explain the scaling for now. I might just summarize it from "weak" to "legendary." I wouldn't mind abstract stats, like you're suggesting with "weak to legendary", instead of numbers. I don't really like numbers unless they are used for something. You run into the issue of "how much better is 3 than 2?". You also risk people only buying stuff that gives stats.

I wanted niche at first, but will my other choices, I think that might mean I'm making a thinly veiled porn game. USA doesn't need to be any more popular & fleeting fame is fleeting. Let's go with merchandise because it is like ads that stick around. Also, the game will probably have a cute mascot character.

Vs. The world. I can handle broken A/C, no food, and even Road Rollers. Those don't impact the game. Besides, I have cloud backups.

I'm thinkin' musou roguelike dungeon-crawler. There are but 3 (realtime) hours before the Demon King destroys the world. You pick a character and undergo rapid advancement. At first, you'll need a few hits just to beat a rat. By the end, you'll be clearing entire rooms with ultimate attacks. The entire game takes place in the Demon King's castle. The bosses will all be huge monsters with breakable defenses (like LoZ), but can be attacked at any time for less damage / harder to land hits until stunned. There'll be shops & co op mode & lots of story-rich dialog, too. You can replay it with other characters & items, but the game itself is pretty short. The cut-scenes will do what Sonic Adventure did in that they are different for each character yet all interwoven for the complete story.

Leftover point gets wasted but that's just how it goes. Taylor probably gets fluffed as a friend of Aryo who helped test her MK1 power armor during the prototype phase and let her keep it so she could help patrol the school for the wayward AI or other mysterious things. Took orphan so I could have some alone time and actually have a hook to rely more on my friends and get out of the house because of those rickety noises from the basement.

Main story would be the school scouting me because I'm gifted in magic & engineering like Anyo. We'd be paired up because they think that giving her someone with similar skills to mentor will improve her social skills. At first she'd brush me off and say that I'm a bother while she secludes herself on trying to fix something she won't tell me about. Plot point comes in that the Magic AI has been infecting humans and automatons with it's code like XANA from Lyoko and she's been busy with Taylor tracking down infected individuals and curing them before it gets out of hand. I get involved because the AI tries to infect me but my Absolute Will makes me immune to its coercion and I mentally force it out of my system. After seeing it try to pry into my mind, my Uplifted ability comes into play which allows me to see the magi code strands that link infected hosts together. The AI's smart and I can't see the source but each time we cure an infected, the path to the AI's hiding spot becomes clearer to me.The "A Mistake" hardship will probably come into play as a Megacorp trying to force me to betray Aryo and get her to be their wageslave along with signing up with them because of my Uplifted skill but I refuse and expose them.

Well, one of my dick-ass 'comrades' is going to try to tank the project. Luckily, I'm doing most of the work myself. I can catch and edit their fuckups as I go. None of my comrades are particularly skilled, so they aren't doing anything really important.

As for the game itself? Imagine a cross between Hexen and Dark Souls. Players do not gain 'powers', they gain *CURSES*, gradually twisting them into horrible monsters and severely limiting their stats and abilities in exchange for supernatural powers. Is the power to see in the dark really worth the permanent -10 to your HP? Is casting Lightning Bolt really worth sacrificing 15 points off your maximum Dexterity?

Brutally difficult fights, creepy half-lovecraftian gothic setting, ample loot, incredibly variable build options, and expansive ever-shifting world providing plenty of play time and replayability. It'll be hard as hell to pull off, but I think I can do it.

Some of these characters are very hard to kill, but I don't think that necessarily translates into being able to protect you effectively.

Grievous isn't as durable and maybe not as agile as Lizard, but he can match in raw speed and his lightsabers are basically unstoppable offense. He's probably the most powerful melee fighter on this list, since his armor plates I think still make him the third most durable character after T-1000 and Lizard. He even has a ranged weapon, which is something that not every character on this list has access to although he would still lose in a gun battle with Predator or Winter Soldier. His big weakness is that he is likely the least environment-aware character and the least capable of dealing with surprise attacks. His stealth capabilities are also bottom-tier, which is fine since he is acting as a bodyguard, but he might not be able to close the distance on Pred and WS if they're shooting at him. Hence, to make up the difference:

The Predator is one of the most aware characters on the list, and is fully capable to handling surprise attacks. And unlike some of the others that fill that category (Slashers, Aliens) despite being a stealth character he doesn't lose his entire usefulness once spotted. Predator and Grievous have enough firepower working together to take down Winter Soldier in a gunfight. Pred is also one of the only characters that would be able to lay down competent traps, and he's the best at it which gives a level of safety even when he needs to sleep (admittedly, Slashers and Aliens don't have this problem). Should make for a cool team.

In medieval times millers were hated for two reasons.
First was Banalities, a common concept associated with medieval millers. During the medieval times, when the serf used the mill for grinding wheat, he had to pay a certain amount to the lord of the mill. This charged amount was known as “banalities” and was basically a fee imposed by the feudal lord for the use of his mill.
The lords would force serfs or even freemen to use the mill that they built; to the point that hand mills were contraband that you could be punished for owning.

But the second was how mill owners would not give all of the flower back to you, keeping what was trapped in the machinery of the mill for themselves.

One interesting alternative to this is to replace Grievous with Lizard. With small reptiles as scouts a lot of the surprise element from the Slashers and Aliens goes away, but both T-1000 and Winter Soldier become more dangerous, and I think Grievous is a more powerful adversary than Lizard.

Aliens. Between Lizard and the Predator stealth is practically gone for them. At that point they don't become much more than an annoyance to a lot of these characters.

Grievous. With his lightsabers and his body's ability to contort or climb he could probably break through Predator's traps even if he's the most likely character to walk right into them. This will likely come down to Predator trying to take him down at long range, but unlike as a bodyguard Grievous can be more mobile and he already lives in a universe where everyone has blasters. If he gets into close range he becomes extremely dangerous.


Would probably still take Grievous either way since he'd make a fun pal to hang around.

It can easily turn to a more survival and less comfy CYOA if you aim to get more dangerous missions to obtain greater rewards.
