Epic started as Adeptus Titanicus... if it sells well, it'll expand into tanks and infantry.

Unfortunately, it'll be at a slightly larger scale (8mm instead of 6mm) so my collection might not really be usable. I can see why they'd do it - more photogenic, you can actually see Mk III vs. Mk IV armor, and it hurts the 3rd party (not-quite 40k) miniature makers and people casting fanmade Epic minis.

Well, might as well put this out there

All XVI Legion players, as many of you can probably sympathize with one another the lack of ever getting any official Luna Wolves support now (namely helmets) is rather bothersome. So i'm willing to take it upon myself to learn 3d modeling and create these helmets on Shapeways

Keep in mind this stuff is already a thing and is awesome as well, but we need our awesome helmets

Death Guard are one of the tragic legions that got completely fucked over by one of the gods of chaos. It's hard to imagine what they went through when Nurgle got them caged in that warp storm, and they were all slowly succumbing to that uncurable disease.

Safer witchery. There is no such thing as safe witchery in the grimdark.

And don't forget SW were behind all the Librarians getting banned, including those from the legions that also stuck to the safer witchery, like White Scars, who even knew the dangers and risks already, and how to avoid them.
Meanwhile they still fielded runepriests openly because "muh fenris" which as it turns out in WoM has a warp entity stuck in it from which the SW draw their power. Pretty much like what happend with Caliban, and we all know how that ended

And that's probably the worst part for the Death Guard. The Word Bearers went full ham on demons, the World Eaters effectively gave themselves to Khorne, and parts of the EC were already entranced by Slannesh after the war with the Laer. The Thousand Sons didn't realize that Tzeentch was manipulating them until it was far too late.

But the Death Guard and Mortarion had nothing to do with Nurgle or demons until Typhon fucked everyone over. At that point, they were all resigned to an eternal undeath. Even as traitors, that's a pretty shitty fate, all because of one man.

Typhon's deception was a thing long before the DA case. It was part of his original reveal-story back during the 13th Black Crusade event. In return for stranding the Death Guard in the Warp and allowing Nurgle to infect the entire legion, Typhon was granted the 'gift' of becoming the host of the Destroyer Hive. Tens of thousands of marines, and Mortarion, all for the right to be Nurgle's Champion.

>>

Yes, the reasons are all the rules, units, and ICs that IF have and IW don't. If "this legion has better rules overall" is the only "mechanical reason" by your logic, there's no reason to play ANY legion except the best one or two.

Easy there killer. Just make them AP3 on a 5+, maybe shred against power armor

>>50817236
>this didn't fix them at all mate, their problem is that banestrike is shit.
I disagree. I think they have too much kit bloat inflating their cost. So many rules and gear on a T4 3+ model. Make them Seeker/Mor Deythan cost and kit base, then have AL themed options for upgrades.

Seekers for killing a specific unit then standing and shooting with scorpius.

Mor Deythan for annihilating a specific unit then running and gunning with plasma guns.

Head Hunters for assassination and then killing scoring in power armor then assaulting them.

Three units with the same general purpose, but different applications. With upgrades to taste.
>>
>>50817345
except if you want to assault with the headhunters you're never going to get it if you shoot with their 18" bolter - here's what happens.
you infiltraite to 18", walk 6" ending up just outside double tap range, your 10 shots kill 0~3 marines and then you stand around touching yourself as you gave your opponent a 6" charge for free!
>>
>>50817294

Whenever this becomes a problem, FW does try to boost up the weaker legions. It doesn't make them better than the newest ones, but it does fix the problems aging legions have. For example, WE were the first to come out and sucked a lot compared to newer ones like NLs, but they later boosted WE.
>>
>>50817413
You can't assault after infiltrating anyway so it doesn't matter.

You grab a rhino, infiltrate 18" away, move 6", disembark 6", double tap with combi-plasma.
>>
>>50813365

>>
>>50817501
then give them shroud bombs and counter attack, what you are suggsting gives no reason what so ever to use them over seekers.
>>
>>50817501
But seekers as well as veterans already do this for less points as well.

I'd like Headhunter's niche to be shooting you in the face with specialist ammunition before charging in and planting a powerdagger in your kidney. Like the semi-melee version of seekers and Mor Deythan, because there's no such thing yet.

headhunters (cost as current)
add kraken bolts(to give them some range as an option), give them counter attack, 2 attacks each lose the pistol for double knives, make banestrike have shred and do the AP3 thing on a +4 and be assault 2. exchange infiltraite for scout as their special rule. and force the enemy to do a leadership test the first time they try to shoot them/ assault them.
>>
>>50819293
Scorpius ammo is the only good ammo and it's only good if you can infiltrate them since it's heavy. AP3 on all you melee attacks and venom spheres are better if youre on the move.

What makes seekers good is taking combi weapons and popping a one turn preferred enemy. Which, spoiler alert, HH can also get. Only this fix gives them PE all game, and they can take 10 combis instead of 9, and not immeadiatly fold if theyre in melee.

Scorpius ammo is not that good. The other types are mediocre.

it works as an errata sure, I just think its boring :^). it'd be like if raptors were exactly like an assault squad but had an extra attack.

but its a difference in design opinion rather then any caught up about balance - combi weapons for everyone was a mistake :^) just like artillery.

to me the legion unique units should be something that examplifies the legions method of war, and with learneans being the showy "mess with the best, die like the rest" unique unit to me headhunters should have a higher focus on the sabotage-y/misinformative nature of the legion like the saboteur.

I have read it, and yes those are the exact words used that they are a futher step up from seekers - but don't you see how it is boring mechanically? if you can't understand where I'm comming from when I complain about how a combi-plasma squad+ is boring then its futile to discuss it anymore.

besides they are talking about battle field role and purpose, not game mechanics, thats like saying that TDA is powerarmor+, despite the fact that they have different purposes and roles, or that breachers are tacticals+. just because they are a futher development of the same idea doesn't mean they mechanically have to be identical but +1 in all relevant stats. FW already attempted this by giving the headhunters an edge in melee and combi bolters. what I don't understand is your obsessive fasicnation with a PE combi-plasma squad, isn't it more interesting and fun if the AL unique unit has a mechanically unique niche that sets them apart from the other legion unique units and the generics? besides just adding to the "hitting on +2 with a re-roll, wounding on 2's on a re-roll with instant death, no saves allowed" that is so fucking prevelant in the game already?

>but don't you see how it is boring mechanically?
Oh I see youre point. I just know it's a difference of opinion. Every legion special that is a clear upgrade from an generic equivalent can be described that way. Because every unit is based on a marine legion. There's going to be similarities.

HH are more different from their base seekers than Mor Deythan are mechanically. They're Stealth Seeker+. Just like HH are Melee Seeker+. You want them to be wildly different, which they just aren't.

Your second paragraph is generalizing too much and making weird points. Not even going to touch it.

my second paragraph accuse you of generalizing too much to take them being the penultimate seekers as an excuse to give them BS5, prefered enemy and combi plasmas. being literarily seekers+ (as in they do the exact same thing as seekers but better in everyway) just as terminators with combi bolters + power weapon can be argue to be a tactical marine+ in that it does everything a tactical marine does, but better in everyway. sorry for being a bit rambly and unclear.

Good to hear! I plan on running a mechanised SA Veletaris list. A command section, two veletaris squads and three dracosan demolishers with some neag flare shielding and melta proofing on some of them is about thousand points.

Would this be considered cheesy? I just feel there are not many other ways to run veletaris in a way that has them using their ray guns.
>>
>>50820087
Not him, but I liked when they had PE as a rule.
Why not go back to that, with them gaining something else if they'd get PE from another source....like alpharius.
>>
>>50820248
Not cheesy, but certainly boring as shit to play against.
>>
>>50820779
How would you recommend to change that list to make it more fun?

To many tanks are the cause of boredom, I presume?
>>
>>50820790
Not so much tanks themselves as the fact they all have Demolisher cannons strapped to them. The prevalence of high strength low AP lagged blasts is part of why Horus Heresy is turning into a dull game of 'ten man Sniper Veteran squads in Rhinos/Drop Pod Spam'. It's not that fun to have to either invest a bunch of money in tanks and transports you might not like to counter all the large blasts, or sit and scoop up your expensive infantry models by the handful while you try and whittle your way through 5 AV14 HPs each.

Sadly, you're right in saying that there's not really another way to run Veletarii outside of Zone Mortalis. It's a flaw in the Solar Auxilia's list rather than the players. I guess if you run exclusively against Legio Cybernetica or something, you'll be alright.

They are in conquest, they landed on a rare life sustaining world in the...grail abyss? I am not sure anymore.

Sadly they did not realise that the worlds age,way way longer life sustaining than earth, had spore and fungus based life forms develop there that made basically everything poisonous. So after the warp storms set in in the age of strife, they civil wared for ressources due to being cut of import and they only survived united under house orlac that had sheltered the genetic/biologist scientists that had worked then whole time on that problem.

Some horrible experiments later you get some sort of abhuman, thoug rather normal looking, that can life from the fungus shit but can now only eat meat or.....fungus shit.

The world was christened Dark Haven due to the huge and dense fungus forests and its solitary location. They wear a nice dark purple.

Also orks do not dare approachn it:^)

Also, they are not fungoid..just genetically changed to eat this highly evolved super fungus and not be affected by its spores.

The price being, as mentioned, that they only can eat fungus andm eat related things now and probably some kinks regarding their low child birth quota.

According to Conquest, they do live longer though.

Why on earth does 1 castellax cost about as much as 3 vorax when they're nearly the same size?

on a related topic, take your bets on prices for the Adeptus titanicus resin models. The warlord is apparently going to be Thanatar sized, so I'm guessing at least $100 for him.
>>
>>50825020
So how many types of robo-minations are there now?

Castellax and their ilk, pure robots driven by machine spirits that are, in the case of Vorax, barely kept in check.

Scyllax, which are... just "neural tissues" from unknown origins.

Thallax, cyborgs.

Tech-thralls, servants.

The FW DG dread is a heavy and suitably archaic design so it would fit pretty much in any early crusade Legion with some filing and proper heraldry.
