It is 75 years since the Raid on Alexandria, a covert operation by Italian Navy divers of the Decima Flottiglia MAS, who attacked and disabled (but did not sink) two Royal Navy battleships in the harbour of Alexandria, Egypt, using manned torpedoes.

The submarine Scirè of the Italian Royal Navy had left La Spezia on December 3rd, carrying three manned torpedoes, nicknamed maiali (pigs) by the Italians. At the island of Leros, the submarine secretly picked up six crewmen for them: Luigi Durand de la Penne and Emilio Bianchi (nº 221), Vincenzo Martellotta and Mario Marino (nº 222), and Antonio Marceglia and Spartaco Schergat (nº 223).

On the 19th, Scirè—at a depth of 15 m (49 ft)—released the manned torpedoes 1.3 mi (1.1 nmi; 2.1 km) from Alexandria commercial harbour, and they entered the naval base when the British opened their defenses to let three of their destroyers pass. There were many difficulties for de la Penne and Bianchi. First, the engine of the torpedo stopped and the two frogmen had to manually push it; then Bianchi had to surface due to problems with the oxygen provider, so that de la Penne had to push Maiale alone to where HMS Valiant lay. There he successfully placed the limpet mine, just under the hull of the battleship. However, as they both had to surface, and as Bianchi was hurt, they were discovered and captured.

Questioned, both of them kept silent, and they were confined in a compartment aboard Valiant, under the sea level, and coincidentally just over the place where the mine had been placed. Fifteen minutes before the explosion, de la Penne asked to meet with Valiant's captain Charles Morgan and then told him of the imminent explosion but refused to give further information, so that he was returned to the compartment. Fortunately for the Italians, when the mine exploded just before them, neither he nor Bianchi were severely injured by the blast, while de la Penne only received a minor injury to the head by a ship chain.

Meanwhile, Marceglia and Schergat had attached their device five feet beneath the battleship HMS Queen Elizabeth's keel as scheduled. They successfully left the harbour area at 4:30 am, and slipped through Alexandria posing as French sailors. They were captured two days later at Rosetta by the Egyptian police while awaiting rescue by Scirè and handed over to the British.

Martellota and Marino searched in vain for an aircraft carrier purportedly moored at Alexandria, but after some time they decided to attack a large tanker, the 7,554 gross register ton Norwegian Sagona. Marino fixed the mine under the tanker's stern at 02:55. Both divers managed to land unmolested, but were eventually arrested at an Egyptian police checkpoint.

In the end, all the divers were made prisoners, but not before their mines exploded, severely damaging both HMS Queen Elizabeth and Valiant, disabling them for nine and six months respectively. Sagona lost her stern section and the destroyer HMS Jervis, one of four alongside her refuelling, was badly damaged. Neither of the two capital ships sank but they were out of action for some time.

This represented a dramatic change of fortunes against the Allies from the strategic point of view during the next six months. The Italian fleet had temporarily wrested naval supremacy in the east-central Mediterranean from the Royal Navy.

When most wargamers think of WW2 special forces, it's guys like the Brandenburgers, Rangers or Commandos. But there were some other fascinating groups too, such as these redoutable Italian frogmen. The Decima Flottiglia MAS makes an interesting choice for a gamer looking for something a bit different.

This week also marks a century since the end of the Battle of Verdun. This colossal slaughter, which had begun on the 21st February, was one of the largest and longest battles of the First World War on the Western Front between the German and French armies. The battle took place on the hills north of Verdun-sur-Meuse in north-eastern France. The German 5th Army attacked the defences of the Région Fortifiée de Verdun and those of the French Second Army on the right bank of the Meuse. Inspired by the experience of the Second Battle of Champagne the year before, the Germans planned to rapidly capture the Meuse Heights, providing them with an excellent defensive position that would also allow them to bombard Verdun with observed artillery fire. The Germans hoped that the French would commit their strategic reserve to recapture the position and suffer catastrophic losses in a battle of attrition, as the Germans would have a tactical advantage. But this plan backfired as the Germans found themselves increasingly committed and were soon trapped in the same meatgrinder that they made for the French. The bitterly won defense became an immortal legend in France.

It lasted for 303 days and became the longest and one of the most costly battles in human history. An estimate in 2000 found a total of 714,231 casualties, 377,231 French and 337,000 German, for an average of 70,000 casualties a month; other recent estimates increase the number of casualties to 976,000, during the battle, with 1,250,000 suffered at Verdun during the war.

I made some progress on my SS gift.

Since i don't have any Brits for Bolt Action in my possession i had to convert the universal carrier a little bit, but with new heads for the minis, an additional passenger and a couple of bits inside the vehicle it looks very soviet (at least to me).

Thanks again for your gift Anon, i probably would not have bought an universal carrier for my Soviets, but now after having it built i think its a really nice looking addition to my existing forces.

DVG are on KS for a game called Sherman Leader, it's a solo game apparently which is good if you're a sad loner who can't find any gaming buddies like me ;_;

Interestingly you can add about $80 worth of GHQ minis as a $60 addon to replace the counters.

I wonder why they did a Sherman-specific game though, instead of giving the player the option for other tanks (nations) as well. (But maybe that comes in the future).

The game seems very similar to "Pattons Best".

Probably closer to Tiger Leader, again from DVG, but I've heard it's not as solid as Hornet/Phantom/Thunderbolt Apache Leader - the air games got the best design work. The Sub Leader games are apparently... sub-par.

TAL is fucking magic, though. Also has an optional upgrade pack of 3mm oddzial osmy minis to replace its counters, but I never bothered with that.

...I really should play the Cthulhu expansion for Hornet Leader one of these days. It has sanity rules in addition to the regular stress, and nuclear weapons.

Its the allied version of DVGs Tiger Leader they released last year. Pretty solid game. uses a campaign system similar to what was in Thunderbolt Apache Leader.

Tiger Leader had SOME issues when it was released. There was a couple of unit cards that didnt get added in. a couple other minor issues. A kit was made to fix those issues and kick starter backers got it for free.

Dan is taking the issues that happened with Tiger Leader and making sure the same dont happen with Sherman Leader. its a solid system. I want to get both TL and SL.

If your a tank guy this game may appeal to you.

It would have been interesting to point out that the "name" was inherited by a warlord-like late war military unit (particularly beloved by Italian neofascist, as it was at least competent) led by Junio Valerio Scipione Ghezzo Marcantonio Maria dei principi Borghese. Yep, when the Fascist regime collapsed a italian noble took up recruiting people as a private army and struck a deal for equipment with the Germans. He was employed in anti-partisan activities and was completely out of the Fascist republican control - a common theme in civil wars, as we see today in Ukraine and Syria-. Even if it was never employed against the Allies, I swear there are some good models of them around.

Tbh, barely hal of the "original" X MAS remained under Borghese: a good number defected to the Kingdom of the South.

Ironically enough, Boghese would have been the CIA choice for a military dictatorship in Italy, and the tried in 1970: the myth goes that the Italian prime minister of the time, Andreotti, managed to get the Americans to support him and even suceeded in poisoning Borghese years later.

The history of NATO minors is fun.

Mm. Try some of the stuff from lock 'n' load games, World at War is platoon-per-chit (mostly - I think some units are handled differently) ww3, and I think Nations at War is the ww2 version - there are a lot of games, expansions, and scenarios.
>>
>>50789907
they make good games, in general, although the main lock 'n' load series is squad level stuff.

they also have nuklear winter '68, which is platoon level... and a bit weird. basically ww2 went nuclear in europe, the nazis retreated underground and everyone else walled off the radioactive hellscape, now it's years later and nato (including the russians?) are peeking in, the nazis are peeking out, and oh hi there are mutants as a third party. it comes with a campaign that seems fairly short, looking at the dates and timeline - after all, the nazis can't hold out for long even with whatever wunderwaffe bullshit they've got, but it's pretty neat.

Generally an 'X-level' game means that X is the type of unit you're in control of (e.g. squad-level makes you a squad commander, platoon-level makes you a platoon commander with several squads etc.), so to command individual platoons you probably want company or maybe battalion-level games.

The stats of these tanks seem strange:
Attack 9 for the Pz 1, 6 for Pz4D, 5 for the Jagdpanther and 3 for the Tiger?

Lowest value is best? Why has the Tiger a better damage value than the Jagdpanther then?
Highest is best? Why has the Pz 1 a 3 times higher value than the Tiger?
>>
>>50794134
The attack value is what you need to roll or higher on a D10 to score a hit. For every hit scored you pull a chit to see what the damage to the target is.

There are some modifiers that will give extra dice rolls.

So the Tiger would get 1 dice at 3 or better to hit.
The JgdPanter would get 1 dice...+1 to the dice roll if its a vehicle..and get a 2nd dice if it is stationary...so if its stationary and firing at a vehicle it gets 2 dice at a 4+ to hit

The idea of having a skull as a symbol of daring in the Italian armed forces comes from the WW1 Arditi ("Those Who Dare"), a stormtrooper-like force of volunteers, picked among the craziest soldiers and trained to assault austro-hungarian trenches with daggers and grenades.

The Arditi had a huge impact on the popular culture of the politically-troubled 1920s Italy, and their imagery was co-opted by both fascists and anti-fascists alike.

Even today the Italian navy has a special forces unit nicknamed "Arditi Incursori" ("Daring Raiders") who are more or less the indirect heirs of the X MAS: the "COMSUBIN Teseo Tesei" ("Teseo Tesei Diver and Raider Command Group")

The pleasing symmetry, perhaps?

Those glacis would have been terrible places to assault. There's a particularly horrible word: "flense"; it means to strip the flesh from a bone, and it's used by to describe what happens when a body of troops climb a glacis into grapeshot fire. Cornwell uses it a bit in Sharpe, and it always conjured the most horrible mental image for me.

Hello everybody. I stumbled upon the rule book called crossfire. After I watched lindybeige explain it and wanted to test it. So I thought I could buy a starter kit of some other game and play it and also enjoy the rules from the game I bought. Any ideas? I was thinking of "bolt action" or maybe "flames of war".
>>
>>50806228
first base with sand. then brown flock and/or black colour.
then I put PVA glue on the spots I wanted the snow and sprinkled snow on. then I used watered down PVA on the lumps of snow, let it dry and then used gloss varnish on some spots to give it a shiny effect.
>>
>>50806266
crossfire is 28mm isn't it?

So Bolt Action would be the one to got.
>>
>>50806266
I'd recommend picking up two boxes of cheap 1:72 figures, or maybe Italeri's Bastogne kit that comes with some fairly minimal terrain, artillery and vehicles.

>>
>>50806453
Depends on what theatre would you like to do. Plastic Soldier Company's hard plastics are a good start as they have heavy weapons for almost everyone (EXCEPT FOR THE FUCKING BRITS), and you get a good number of poses. Italeri is a good choice as well, but there are tons of manufacturers out there doing lovely stuffs.
>>
>>50806358
given the huuuge range of 28mm miniatures in plastic that is available nowadays I can't recommend 1/76. The 28mm community by now is probably bigger and most people (I'm not saying ALL but most) who play Bolt Action or Chain of Command play using 28mm.
>>
>>50806585
1/72 are still cheaper though.

That's like saying you should do it in 6mm because its like £4 for 100 figures.
>>
>>50806755
>1:72 is cheaper is meaningless logic when you need to choose which scale you want to start

Ok. Also, quickbuild tanks from Armourfast are 8GBP versus 20-25 per vehicle in 28mm.

>>50805481
>This guy paints 15mm better than I paint 28mm

Well fuck. Why would you go anything not Perry Miniatures when doing Late medieval, they are just too damn good.
>>
>>50806266
If you want to try things out just buy a couple of sets of coloured carbboard and make terrain/squads out of it. If you like that than buy some figures.
>>
>>50805323

It is but honestly I usually end up feeling pretty bummed if I don't break even.
>>
>>50807400
>Why would you go anything not Perry Miniatures when doing Late medieval

Because I am sick of building armies for and playing 28mm regiment sized games. I hate the hours of painting the dozens and dozens of figures required when I know I could that if I was working in 15mm or smaller I could have half an army done in the time it takes to do a single unit. I hate the hours of cleaning up and assembling models. I hate the amount of space you lose on a standard 6x4 table because the footprint of the units is overly large if you have ones that don't look silly tiny.

Sure they look great when you can put the time in, but I'd still rather actually get an army on the table in a complete state before I/everyone else gets bored and sick of putting together armies, and have the extra space and flexibility in games afforded by using smaller scales.

>>
>>50806585
may also depend how vehicle-heavy he hopes to get.
Crossfire uses 3 figs on a base for a squad (of 10 men), so quickly runs to a company on each side, where a few support vehicles would be reasonable (and cheaper in 1:72).
Also a ton of terrain to break up the table. Crossfire needs more terrain than figures, iirc.
>>
>>50808609
Really, it's just KoW with some semi-historical lists. It covers basically everything from Ancients to Renaissance, so not too specific. Rome has two entire pages dedicated to it that apparently is suitable from Republican to Late Imperial Rome.

Get Hail Caesar or something I'd say.
>>
>>50806585
1/72 has a much better range than 28mm. I remember that one anon here searching for a soviet A-19 that was in pretty much every scale except 28mm.

Plus with 1/72 you can mix and match with 1/76 and no one's really going to notice unless you have 2 of the same vehicles right next to each other in different scales.

Plus 28mm are far more expensive than 1/72. You could get an entire army in 1/72 for the price of a single vehicle in 28mm

Finished up a bunch of Chinese infantry for ostfront. The bases really tie them together.

I was going to do cobblestones, but looking at a lot of 30s photos of Shanghai, it seems to be largely flat concrete with the odd tram line recess in it. So I went with that.

I'm going to have a go at printing out some color Chinese building textures onto paper and gluing them to some cardboard boxes to make a shanghai table. Need lots of street banners too, vertical running Chinese characters lining the street edges.

I was thinking about that, and I have a bunch of balsa bits I cut up in nice brick rubble sizes for that purpose.

Took some photos of my WW1 stuff today as well (getting all our shit sorted for a website launch)

Just got my order of WW1 german stuff - 4 7.7cm feldkanone, and a bunch of MG gunners, and then 2 boxes of german infantry in stahlhelms. The Caesar German infantry are gorgeous, quickly becoming my favorite miniature producer - apart from the bendy plastic that seems to never want to straighten out - gotta keep bending and re-bending the guns until they straight.

I was trimming up my WW1 Caesar miniatures and my friend saw the little injection points on the bases (little hollow cylinders) which I was cutting off, and he suggested I use them as spent shell casings for artillery - a genius idea! I've already based up some British 13-pdrs using these "shells". Kinda gutted I threw these trimmings away from my Chinese, as they make perfect spent shells, and spent shells are what you literally see piles of in WW1 photos of artillery pieces.

Here's the artillery - Felkanone at the back (emhar 1/72), and British 13-pdrs in front (airfix royal artillery)

You can see the "shell casing" trims from the Caesar miniatures on the British bases - not 100% accurate in size, but gives the desired effect.

I would, but there's just one tiny problem - They're nationalists so their symbol is the blue sun in a white circle. Red star would be for the communists, who were largely hiding in the rural areas during the fighting in Shanghai in 1937.

I dont know if there really is a "go-to" but have a look through our OP folders, under medieval.

Should be some games in there.

Personally I would look at Donald Featherstones books and see what kind of simple-but-effective medieval wargames he has. That's just me though, I like his simple style, but often his rules leave big gaps for you to fill in yourself.

> Is it fun?
Thats not so easy to answer Anon. I like it. Do you like hardcore simulations or do you enjoy having a historical lite game as well?

Bolt Action can be alot of fun but it depends alot on the players.
If you enjoy building/exploiting powerful lists with not much care for historical accuracy you can do that in Bolt Action. If one of your opponents fields his historical accurate 1940 french army against such an optimized tournament list then he won't have fun at all. (and the tournament player won't get a challenging game either).
>>
>>50821517
>for beginners

Kings of War historical.

Its easy to learn and "lite"
Lions Rampart also is not bad.

If you want rather small armies: SAGA (which is set in the dark ages) and SAGA Crescent and Cross (which is set during the Cursades era)

As for minis/painting: Decide what you want to play and we will happily assist you in finding good miniatures and paint for that game/for that army.

It's a decent game with a historical theme but it in no way simulates how battles actually worked. Army construction rules mean that it's effortless to make wildly inaccurate armies.

+ It's a really elegant system in general
+quick to learn, lots of nuance
+Satisfying game completed far, far quicker than most other rulesets
+Myth units turns the game into Age of Mythology: tabletop battles
-some lists got nowhere near the attention that others got (Japan especially) (fixed by fan edit on mantic forum)
-Skirmish special rule is way too good (again, fixed by a simply fan edit)
- The way individuals work mean that lone standard bearers and musicians can an entire horde for at least a turn

>Is it possible to put together a historical army and play it against another historical army? Given that the point ratio is even?
sure it is.
>>
>>50822177
Of course.

Thats what i meant with it depends on the player. If you know a couple of likeminded guys who enjoy playing historical lists (a uneven point value can be fun as well btw) you will have alot of fun.

The rulebooks are in the OP if you haven't already downloaded them.
Get a random army book and read through it. You will notice that there are actually altered army lists for certain theaters too. (For example "Stalingrad" or "Italy 1943" (you get the idea) if you and your opponent build your army according to the rules/limitations from the same selector you'll be fine)

It's just a fairly mediocre game, nothing special or hugely offensive, seems to have been written in a weekend out of just repositioning the same old mechanics as a hundred other games with no real intent on being anything more than just a toy soldiers game with a vaguely medieval theme.
Loved by some groups, probably because it's inoffensively average and unchallenging.

>>
>>50823961
Isn't B&L basically pretty similar in figure-count terms? I'm sure I heard that somewhere, from someone complaining about it. It's not scaled down nearly as much as you'd expect from a "skirmish" version of a "battle" game.
>>
>>50824141

True. Its not a "15-guy warband"-skirmish game. But its still smaller than the original Deus Vult.

Hey /hwg/, I'm ordering a Bolt Action set for christmas. Is the Finn build-an-army a good idea to start with? Also, should I get one or two ski infantry with it (I'm getting one no matter what because I just think they're cool honestly).

Thanks!
>>
>>50827204
I dropped a jadgpather and the barrel snapped off and is somewhere under my workbench. Can't find it despite looking multiple times. I'm leaning towards just making it a wreck and getting the S-Model kit; it's the old Esci kit and has terrible tracks and now no gun.
>>
>>50830012
>Is the Finn build-an-army a good idea to start with?

If you want to play Finns.. yes.
The build-an-army bundles are very good deals compared with single purchases. (you can do the math yourself)

Ski troops are only 5 guys compared to 9 in the rifle squad. So i'd only pick one of them if you really want to have them because in the beginning you might want to get a few regular squads of soldiers on the field to experiement around with different lists etc.
If you have to many ski troops your list is kinda pre-written for you which might be frustrating if you don't like how it plays.

That's an impossibly open-ended question. What are you trying to paint Candians? Dutch? USA? Desert camo? Forest? Winter? Something else?

Color will depend on the specific military and theater.
>>
>>50833735
I'd say War on Terror context, desert patterns, US/French/British/German, the whole coalition clusterfuck. I guess there should be some common color dominants? I'd rather not buy the exact camo color for each nation, and go the lazy route at first with a starter paint set that'd get me in the ballpark.

i usually order from fantasywelt.de (being german, any order above 49€ ships for free for me).
They ask for 2,34€ for a bottle of vallejo which is hard to beat in Germany and also stock a large number of other paint brands such as AK, P3 and Army Painter.

I mainly use brushes in the price range between 3-5€.. mostly because i'm overly careful and don't want to spend to much money on a brush i might damage because lack of care

This would be taking place during an artillery barrage or general assault, so stealth wasn't a big priority.

On closer inspection the specific weapon being wielded by that model is a "Malfatti" wire cutter (not the rifle extension as I first assumed); you'd lay this over the wire and pull back to cut it.

i imagine part of the reason that it's basically spear length is so that you can do it from whatever cover you might have, then try to rush through your little opening into other cover. also a weapon, probably valued by soldiers to not have to let go of their rifle.

could also just be the italians making poor equipment decisions, not a very far fetched assumption.

I wouldn't say he deserved the jew stuff. Circumcision was abhorent among the Greeks and later Romans and wishing to hurry up the cultural conversion was natural. Many peoples were embracing Greek culture and Antiochus IV wasn't an antisemite but rather a ruler needing to crush a rebellion. Rather the conflict was a civil war between Jews who embraced Greek culture and conservative Jews that carried out brutal forced conversions and genocide of minorities in their reach. The conversative Jews won and thus wrote history.

The machine gun teams just do a regular shooting attack once per turn. Considering a shooting attack is the equivalent of 25 guys firing rifles, its still pretty ruthless. A standard damage roll is capable of suppressing 25 men, or killing/wounding 10 - 15 men in a few seconds.
MG teams are pretty cheap too so I foresee people spamming them and setting up interlocking lines of fire, at least thats what we do when we play.

Pretty much everything you need to run Italians is there, except perhaps body armor....
The "mountainous terrain" theater is made with Isonzo river battles in mind.

There aren't really any special rules for body armor, even though the germans had their lobster armor (I have a few Caesar minis equipped with this).

haha, well best of luck. Hopefully you can find miniatures easy enough.

iirc the German lobster armor was only issued to machine gunners and other gunners who were likely to draw fire and not have to walk around too much.
There's a forgotten weapons episode where they test out some reproduction German armor - it protects from a handgun at ~50m, but with a standard rifle shot, it wouldn't do shit. I think a .303 penetrated cleanly at like 200m

I saw a book this summer that was a series of scenarios or a campaign set in the Italian theater of WW1. I thought it was the Skirmish Campaigns series but it looks like their ww1 books don't include italy.

I read somewhere years ago the life expectancy of a machine gunner in combat in the western front was about 30 minutes

As it is officially christmas, and I'm gonna be busy tomorrow, I just want to say thanks to the guy who sent me my secret santa.

Did you know these were going to fit in with my Indian FIW collection or was it luck? Thanks a lot either way! I really needed a 3rd Sachem especially!

Have a great Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all.

Just opened my secret santa and I have to say I'm pretty chuffed about having my own little band of mercenaries, I'll probably have to get some peasant levies to oppose them in future.

I also have to say that I really appreciated the little saga included with them, the effort put into it was actually quite touching, not to get all mushy you understand.

Hope everyone else got good secret santa hauls this year.

I'm glad you like the things i sent you. Have you tried the Gingerbread yet? Its my favorite Christmas food.

The small tanks are actually from the World of Tanks Gamescom booth from a couple of years ago. They look close to 15mm, but i don't play in that scale so i couldn't compare them.

How did you do the snow? Is it a ready-made product or did you use natron or baking powder?

At the risk of being "that guy": You should paint the edges of the bases.

>>50866780

yes, I will do that to get them in line with my other Summer Germans.

The snow is a modelling train ready-made-product mixed with PVA.

Its a poem chronicling the journey of this little band , as they travel on their way to Edinburgh, resorting to banditry to survive as they look for a better life.

Its a few paragraphs long and looks like it took quite some work to write, particularly when you consider the dedication to the rhyming scheme.

I'm not usually the sentimental type, but I actually really appreciate this and will definitely be hanging onto this.

If the original anons fine with it I'll post the whole thing.

Dear anon from Edinburgh I bring you a tale, of some soldiers worn out and pale.
They come to you in search of a home, take them in and bring an end to their roam
What follows is their story of hardship and misery, so read well these fightan men´s history

A mercenary fair walked Scotland’s glens, he travelled through bush, marsh and fens.
In the company of 6 companions he was, his friends and compatriots considered outlaws.
One a-horse, the rest a-foot, covered in dust and sweat and soot.
They travelled far they travelled wide. They had fought and fled and died.
Started as soldiers in the service of their lord, they left for another after getting little reward.
A deadly ambush was suffered while serving this second noble, many died but the group survived while staying mobile.
A third officer they found, but after an argument they left eastbound.
With no income and no food, and many an enemy to elude
Banditry was the only way, robbing innocents nearly every day.
Some gave willingly some were hurt, violence was a thing they could not avert.
An end to this torment had almost been found, a place or house to live around.
In a village they heard by the mouth of the priest, he promised a way this banditry could be ceased
A lord sought guards for his homestead, in return they would be clothed and fed
In the town of Edinburgh far, so they followed a distant star
The preacher had said; this star will lead you to a clean house and bed
No more robbing, no more bleeding, just walking watch and feeding
In the company of this great Scottish lord, who according to tales rarely used his sword
Again they travelled all through the land, always staying together this merry band .
Until finally reaching your door, these seven poor veterans of a great war.
Will you hire these poor souls? They will serve nobly, not act like trolls.
Paint them your livery so everyone will know, these soldiers serve you from Galway to Cairo.
Have fun doing fights with them
Hot diggety, Anon

I saw this weird little turret at the airport in Narsarsuaq Greenland a few years ago.

The US had a hospital/airstrip there so it was probably installed to defend against Germans/Soviets sailing up the fjord and seizing the airstrip.

We're already past bump limit, but I thought I'd ask anyway cause it's a Warhammer Historical game.
Maybe I overlooked it in the OP but do any of you guys have Legends of the High Seas or know anything about it?
