I'm working on some Antipaladin archetype homebrew that's something sort of like an Aberrant Aegis but with a larger emphasis on being an outer world horror / Cthulu Mythos inspired beast who uses their "suit" to turn into a beast with a mesh of abilities. You'd lose Smite Good and casting, tempted to turn Touch of Corruption into something else.

I need ideas for customizations, like the Aegis there are 3 routes, yet instead of based off of armor we have Face, Brawn, Skill (I have different names for this in my googledoc), but there's a 4th general route that is for those who want it all. Face is your Cha/Wis route if you wanna be some sorta ideal Hastur figure, Brawn for the Str/Con lovers, and Skill for your Dex/Int cheesebois.

I don't think I can handle this

After thinking on it I have agree that people were right and limited cantrips were a no fun mechanic. Instead I'm trying to think of something more in theme with the rest of the unchaining. At the moment I am going with that cantrips are limited by school.

So not limited in castings but limited in number. The issue for this is some schools have many more cantrips.

As well not having all cantrips makes the wizard act similar to a sorcerer with known spells.

So at the moment the working idea is they get the cantrips of their Primary and Secondary schools, as well as universal. They don't get tertiary and banned school's cantrips. However I am also thinking of not limiting the number of prepared cantrips, essentially making cantrips minor abilities the wizard always have.

I may also remove some and make them stronger and into school powers. As well the offensive cantrips will likely be replaced with the offensive school power (everyone has one and it is better than a cantrips).

I'm still thinking on it but I now agree that just straight limiting cantrips casting was no fun.

I like both Lilin and Casmir's story, their characters would have interesting arcs. Lilin retaking her land and Casmir's generally lay back straight man attitude.

Hi guys! I'm looking to make a build for my character. It's my first time playing so I don't know too much about what feats and stuff to take. We're gonna be doing a campaign set in Azeroth, and I want to be a Gryphon Rider. My GM is letting me refluff the "Sable Company Marine" archetype for Rangers as a Wildhammer Dwarf, so I get a free Gryphon! What a Gryphon Rider does in Warcraft is they ride around on their gryphons and throw hammers at their enemies in the air. I know there's a Throwing weapon style for Rangers, but I still don't know what to get! What do I need to make this a feasible character?

You sleep three opponents. Two make their save, one fails. They kick the one guy awake. Your spell effectively wastes 2 standard actions at the cost of your 1. No enemies died.

Sleep is limited by the fact that if you don't get all of them they simply come back awake.

Yeah, the issue isn't that Vorpal is overpowered.

It's that it's powerful if abused, and if not abused, rarely worth it. Like oh boy, I instakilled the mook. Like I wasn't gonna do that anyway.

Also the aforementioned 'completely separate from the character' thing. attack bonus doesn't matter, damage doesn't matter, a 1 strength commoner can instakill shit. He doesn't even have to hit because nat 20s are autohits anyway.

So yeah. My vote would be for Vorpal to increase the critical modifier. And then maybe a note saying that vorpal weapon crits decapitate things and make raise dead not work for the body being decapitated.

I mean yes, if you are terrible at making bosses and balancing bosses to your party.

The only problem with "boss dies too quick" is when you act as if your party should follow the CR system when they've obviously moved beyond that.

Put your party up against an actual challenge and stop being a shit GM. No seriously if your party is having it too easy it's because you don't know enough about the game to actually build encounters to their actual level, not the one that reads on the box.

Same reason with half the "lel wizard invalidates game" horseshit. It's because GMs bend over backwards and fucking beg the wizard to shove his staff up their asshole.

I swear most of /pfg/'s GMs fucking secretly love caster supremacy and get off on it in their games. Fucking christ.

A boss that can survive being 1 rounded either has

1. HP bloat to make him seem tougher than he really is
2. Sub par damage to compensate fro the HP bloat that makes him take forever to kill, but making sure he doesn't also 1shot players .

Honestly conventional boss design just breaks down in Pathfinder at Rocket tag levels you need to make boss fights narrative and puzzle based. Otherwise they're a joke

Liches, being undead, a touch of death and having necromancer levels means they get to do some bullshit tricks against casters like casting cloudkill over himself while he stands next to the wizard hoping the idiot casts gust of wind so he can neg-level the fucker.

vampire lords summon bat swarms at will. A swarm of bats has the 'distraction' ability, if the swarm is big enough to envelope over the caster, he's got no chance of casting anything.

At high levels, the fighter/barbarian and ESPECIALLY the paladin will just cave a boss's dome in

Heck, high level Pallies are capable of dishing out damage that reaches the THOUSANDS, we're talking blowing Cthulhu out of the water in a single move tier.
