reposting from last thread

So guys is there some kind of gauntlet the party's monk can wear that would function as a weapon but still let him use it as an unarmed strike during flurry of blows?

I'm mostly looking for a way to try to get Discordant voice to work on him with his unarmed flurry
>>
>>50615859
I find it fun, same with taking notes!
>>

No, cause the rules on that are a poorly written piece of garbage.

Monk's fists count as manufactured weapons for spells/effects, so it already works.

Pitax should be a proxy conflict funded by agents loyal to House Surtova, however the Disappearance of 4699 and the events of Book 4 (with the reincarnated Champion of Gorum) should be Choral.

In fact, wasn't the Champion originally killed by an unnamed Red Dragon? Curious how that works, innit?

Imagine if we had actual Aldori Swordlords in Kingmaker, or political intrigue... Nah, that's dumb! We need Fae and exploration for 5 gosh darn Books!

There's your mistake, son. Always double check the rules, especially if /pfg/'s answer is "lul Paizo"

No, but you can have your capacity for anger (or maybe hatred) ripped from your soul and sealed away inside your subconscious, where it can no longer control you in any way.

/pfg/'s answer was "read the rules"
>>
>>50616102
Actually, can Nyrissa be salvaged at all? I'm good to just throw her out, but perhaps she could be reworked into a Rogarvian heir warped by time in Choral's prison-dimension.

Nyrissa requires significant build-up for what is an admittedly mediocre villain. The true BBEG was and always should have been Choral the Conqueror, while Nyrissa can easily be worked in as a Book villain if not just to have Briar be available to the party - or maybe remove Briar and introduce a slick new sword, call it Kingmaker.
>>

I never encountered anything cute, as I was always DMing. But I did plenty of cute encounters of sort. (pic related, for example)

>>
>>50616331

One should be the sword wielded by Choral, the other an Aldori Dueling sword wielded by the founder himself.
>>
>>50616303

Looks like Sersheon will have to do an awful lot of convincing to Yori that her alter ego should be their little secret!
>>
>>50616349
Speaking of AP stuff:

Do the adventure paths really bother anyone else? It seems like they are all built with the "it's a dungeon" mentality. IF you are attacking a building then EVERYONE inside will know once a fight starts. The book gives descriptions as if you were entering each room one by one, when as soon as someone screams the whole place is now a battlefield.

This shit is inexcusable for 12th level encounters. The party has had teleport and dimension door for awhile now, yet the book is written as if an invisible familiar isn't doing the scouting, as if the barbarian couldn't level the entire building in 3 minutes, and is if they actually need to fight anyone inside to rescue the hostage in the basement.

It's so damn confusing.

This is especially infuriating in reign of winter when you get to the Russian prison camp.
>>
>>50616422

Dont vigilantes get like +20 to that disguise attempt?
>>
>>50616424
Sometimes it's assumed that the alarm is going to be raised, sometimes they actually give details on how it changes the tactics of other monsters...but yeah, mostly they just remain at their posts.

I can see why, I mean you wouldn't want the PCs to get bum rushed all at once.
>>
>>50616503

Yeah, but that attempt is going up against a fucking lawyer.

Truth is, I'm interested in reading which party member Sersheon decides to shack up with first - and if not Sersheon, than the Mad Jackal!
>>
>>50616424
Most people are entering the dungeon room by room
You suffer from delusion of thinking the APs were ever written for player like you
>>
>>50616275
>>50616303

Yori is the highest at +10, followed by Deidre, Shizuka and Tyran!
>>
>>50616424
You have to accept that some things make no sense, because adventuring itself makes no sense

Nobody would just walk into danger full knowing it is there
>>
>>50616564

Sersheon's total disguise is +30, currently, for the purposes of 'not being found out as her other identity' (+10 normally), and her bluff is +8, but I *think* rules wise the disguise check supersedes bluffing.

As far as who she shacks up with first, well, it depends on who she thinks the strongest mother or father among the group would be...

Anyone else feel like that Barbarian rage powers are awkward?

They do not really feel impactful outside of very few
>>
>>50617332
If you're suggesting the best ones aren't very showy, I'd agree, but I wouldn't say they lack impact
>>
>>50617348
I meant majority of the powers do not feel important
>>
>>50616970
I'm reminded of the rated-R adventure JJ wrote for Dragon, where a rakshasa paid handsomely to have succubi to natural attack him, because their claws couldn't break his DR, so it felt nice.
>>
>>50617368
A lot of them are kinda shit.

Like 'once per rage, deal an extra piddly amount of damage'

Look at the Unchained Barb rage powers, a lot of them are better. Like, that shitty rage power got turned into a rage STANCE which gives extra damage as long as you're in it.
>>
>>50617412
Sure but the stances do not really fit barbarian as a class
>>
>>50617412
That's why ragecycling became a thing; once you're immune to fatigue, "once per rage" becomes "once per round", and some of these shitty powers become acceptable.
>>
>>50617403

That's in Wrath of the Righteous, isn't it? Or one of the APs at least.
>>
>>50617429
Yeah, but it shouldn't HAVE to be a thing, I believe was the sentiment. And to be honest, I kinda agree. You shouldn't have to toggle it on and off repeatedly for things to work properly.
>>
>>50617434
Nah, it was pre-Pathfinder, a crazy lewd 3.5 adventure in Dungeon #95, called Porphyry House Horror. Back before Paizo was SJW central.
>>
>>50617332
There's good and bad ones, but you get a *lot* so it's built to stack up.

The first two in the Undead Blood chain can be decent; there's some uses for shaken

Natural Attackers gain a fuckton of things from rage powers, including the first two of the Draconic Blood series, and a bleeding bite attack among others

POUNCE, MOTHERFUCKER! DO YOU SPEAK IT?

World Serpent Totem ain't too terrible, Superstition is excellent if timed non-stupidly...

There's a lot of handy ones.
>>

This is not about pure functionality
Feats are still great for personal customization, unlike rage powers which most of them are really ... bland comparatively
>>
Does anyone have the custom weapon rules?
>>
I didn't get much help last thread so I will ask again.

I'm going to play Reign of Winter with one other player. We start at 4th level (GM of course will ajust everything) and get a free familiar (improved if we already havve one). All DSP and Paizo allowed. The other player plays stalker (vigilante) focused on stealth, stabbing and skillmonkeying. What would be better then for me to play: Psion or Occultist? What about archetypes from here?

I'm going to focus on providing utility and flanking or some other way of denying enemies their Dex to AC. The stalker guy is pretty heavily optimized so I don't think he will need much buffing (Time Skitter is a thing, for example).

Also, pic related.
>>
>>50617565

>>

I am saying turning your feats into rage powers reduces your options hugely
>>
>>50616002
Sure, you can even use Craft (Sculpting) to make it look better or more perfected! Avant Guard Kineticist, it's what you're looking for.
>>
>>50617636
No it's literally the fact that all rage powers are a feat option. Having the opportunity increases you flexibility, not reduces
>>
>>50617636
Not reallly a lot of martial feats aren't really game changers unless they're Style Feats.
>>
My GM thinks Half-Giants are dumb and OP, how do I convince him to stop being an actual retard?
>>
>>50617481
Yeah it's a decent amount.

Consider this: For two of those four, you can add 1d6 of any element (chosen when you start raging) to all melee, and an extra 1d6 of a different kind for 1rd basically once per fight (1/rage). Still two more to pick.
>>
Im playing a wizard in a core only game, (I know).
What are some magic item crafting shenanigans I can do?

Only level 2 now but thinking ahead.
>>
>>50617811
By telling him he's retarded because oversized weapons represent a miniscule power jump (except in the case of bows, because every little bit of damage and accuracy is boosted a shitzillion-fold by the sheer number of attacks)
>>
>>50617854

Craft rod and wondrous item are your best choices. Not really any big shenanigans without downtime rules, leadership or archetype rules.
>>
>>50617854
>>50617919

Oh arms and armor if you want to be helpful to the guys carrying your loot.
>>
>>50617854
Don't do it. It may sound like I'm going on a "Badwrongfun" tangent but item crafting can very easily ruin the game. It breaks WBL over its knee, removes the need for loot and in the end turns the crafting wizard into a robot that sits in his basement lab the entire session enchanting items.
>>
>>50617854
Steelbone frames and Cyclops helms for your melee bruisers

>>
>>50617946

You can make an infinite use item of magic missles, to spam at enemies to pretend you're helping when it comes to combat.

Another player and I are in a Reign of Winter game, with only two PCs.

The other PC is a sneaky, killy, sneak attacking stalker (vigilante). Very optimized.

I want my PC to be a useful utility caster who can flat-foot and Dex-deny plenty of enemies to help the stalker, generally hard-control enemies, and summon/metacreate monsters for flanking.

Between a fully optimized occultist and a fully optimized psion, which would be the better option for this? I want to be able to last for as long as possible, because the stalker can go all day.

A level 2 wizard actually does have a fair number of issues, mainly in that anyone who touches him generally will put him unconscious.

I always find it worrying when a player has a 1st level wizard, often with only average con, and gets angry when he goes unconscious after an enemy fires at him with a longbow.

That being said, that's an occupational hazard of being low level with average con.

>>50618444
If we're talking about balance the game isn't meant to be run at any level with the full roster. At no level is the game within an acceptable range of balance unless bans/changes occur.

Really, I've had a GM fudge dices before, telling me shit didn't work. I have a hard time believing that only one creature out of 5 passed out from TWO castings Color spray when they only had +2 to their will saves vs DC 17 at level 1.

Only so the PoW PCs and the DMPC could be cool

Second session of a lewd game I'm looking forward to!
>>
>>50618453
The issue with color spray is you're going to need to approach them and hope for a nice cone to use. It helps with an encounter per color spray (often you'll need 2 color sprays). However at 4-5 encounters per day you run dry (this assumes that your GM enforces the recommended number of encounters via a sense of urgency or actually having enemies come after you).

As for sleep it has a will save. While you can get this high it is by no means a sure win. As well as being only a 10 foot burst.

Often issues of this nature get made worse by GMs tailoring their encounters to allow casters to make the best use of their spells in a safe environment. We take an already existing gap between martials and casters and turn it into a chasm.
>>
>>50618495

Knowing the Chimera Soul disicpline gives you the Shapechanger subtype.
>>
>>50618511
How did you fit 5 creatures into a 15 foot cone? it only covers 6 of 7 squares. Did they all just bunch up and wait to be color spray'd?

Debating on whether to do 2 or 4 levels into Paladin for my Oradin.

If I go with 2, I can still have full CL for my Oracle levels since I have Magical Knack. But if I go 4, as a Hospitaler I'd get a channeling pool of 7 and a second Lay on Hands (albeit the channeling would be that of a level 1 Cleric. With my Oracle levels alone though I'll have a separate pool of 5 that's effectiveness is 1:1 with Cleric. I guess what it really comes down to is whether or not those extra 7 channels and Lay on Hands are worth the level instead of just taking feats for more.
>>
>>50618511
most likely the spoilered rather than the former.

Then again, I've known players whose characters are - at the very least for that particular battle* - LITERALLY invulnerable and who will actually bitch out the fireball-lobber because if the group wins easily rather than taking 2-3 sessions of chatting away for the single fight it "wouldn't be fun for anyone", so I guess it's possible the GM could be that petty too.

*You know how it is; the natural attacker with a bit of DR and high Regen is suddenly faced with like 80 minions who can't actually get through her DR without a crit and will actually be eaten at an even faster rate if they try to pile up on her to coup-de-grace, which wouldn't even work anyways... but it'll be like eight rounds of tedium, at about ten minutes of tangenting by people when they should be taking their damn turns.

Some creatures shouldn't use tactics, but often creatures who use zero tactics are ones immune to mind effecting (mindless undead, plants, vermin, etc.).

A wolf for instance won't know how spells work and thus not defend themselves against them, but generally won't be in a bunch formation like that either.

People of any intelligence? In a setting with a lot of magic (which pathfinder is) they should have a rough awareness or know someone with a rough awareness that standing in certain formations (bunched up) makes you an easy target for magic.
>>
>>50618599
What is it with online games and turns taking for fucking ever anyways? I've got the same problem. I actually pay fucking attention, and ready up everything so that unless the situation changes immediately before I come up, I'll take maybe two minutes at most - and about 45s of that is me waiting on the DM to finally pay attention back and tell me if I hit or not. Then the init tracker ticks to the next person, and I can probably just go bake a fucking cake.

I abhor when someone starts playing something else midgame, but the level of tangential babbling about anything else (once it was even character creation for some other campaign by like half the fucking party!!!) often makes me think that no one would notice, let alone care, let alone even know I wasn't paying attention unless I told them, if I just fired something up and ran a fucking raid in between turns.

Unbreakable Gambit

>Risk: The warlord attempts to succeed on a Fortitude or Will save against an extraordinary ability, maneuver, power, spell, or spell-like or supernatural ability. The effect in question must be a harmless effect on a failed saving throw. Unlike other gambits, this one can be attempted as an immediate action instead of a swift action.

So what am I missing here? What is the use of this?

The event was to prepare us since we were playing Wrath of the Righteous. DM just hates casters, as I've often complained about in the thread.

So the unchained wizard is coming along. This is the list of changes thus far:

>School specialization overhaul, instead of 2 powers there are 4 ( 2 at 1st, 1 at 7th, 1 at 13th level powers)
>School specialization now called "Arcane Origin" and is more specific, each school is divided into sub schools (you only get to choose one)
>No such thing as a "Universalist" instead one has to specialize
>Opposition schools would be changed, instead there would be Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary schools
>of the 8 schools you get 1 primary, 2 secondary, and 3 tertiary, along with 2 banned schools
>you can not learn or cast spells of your 2 banned schools
>schools have be upgraded (except banned to tertiary) via a feat slot, they upgrade by 1 level
>You gain an "arcane font" ability, which is essentially points you have to spend from to both use your school powers, cast legendary spells, and prepare spells from secondary/tertiary schools (instead of taking 2 spell slots)
>arcane font refills every day
>Bonded object would be the standard, familiars would need to be garnered through a "legendary spell" slot for Summon Familiar
>Cantrips would go back to being limited use
>Certain spells would be removed from the spell list and transferred into a "Legendary" spell list that would act much like rogue talents with level requirements, feat requirements, and spell book requirements.
>some spells include Teleport, Invisibility, Contact Other Plane, Cloudkill, and Create Undead
>Legendary spells act like old opposition spells, requiring two spell slots to prepare

Makes wizards more reliant on their school powers, makes them have to think a lot more on what they prepare for the day (forces them to specialize quite a bit into their school of choice) and removes certain game changing spells and puts them behind a barrier of specialization.

Ultimately the goal of Unchained Wizard is to make wizards into highly specialized individuals who must sacrifice to become generalists.

Literally the only thing I have to agree with is the tentacles, why the heck does this girl have tentacles? >>50618051 needs to listen here, because being a child bathed in Lamashtan radiation does not make you a tentacled beast, it just makes you a beast. Aegis is unbecoming of her, it should truly be something simpler like Fiendbound Marauder (heck, Nualia's for a Fiendbound arm too) or even changing her race to some sort of Tiefling or Skinwalker.

>>
>>50619065

>>50619069
I'll go more into my reasoning here.

Instead of infinite use cantrips you only get two infinite use ones, Read Magic and Detect Magic, which would be free and not take up slots.

It is meant to force leaning on school powers at low levels, because there are now two.
>>
>>50619005

Well, I started off going 'you know, I'd like to actually give Aberrant Aegis a try', is the problem, and figured the Lamashtite altar already known to exist would be a good hook for it. The tentacles are due to Aberrant; the build I was going for, mechanically, was 'all the natural attacks and grapples'.
>>
>>50619087

>The only infinite use cantrips are the two blandest, most game-y ones available

Wow, aren't you a delight!
>>
>>50619087
>detect magic is probably the most narrative-changing cantrip to the extent that when 5e BUFFED cantrips and also made them unlimited use on top of that, detect magic was made into a first level spell

>somehow it's the only one they get unlimited of, meaning you've taken out all the fun without fixing the problem

How limited are the school powers? Both in scope of what they can do, and in uses per day?
>>
>>50619087
>Prestidigitation, Mage Hand, Spark, and anything that's actually fun to use are limited
>But the two most boring, most ubiquitous cantrips are infinite

>>
>>50619087
Read Magic barely has a reason to fucking exist in the first place, and detect magic should be simultaneously available to everyone with enough spellcraft, and much less powerful than it is.

It and Light are two cantrips that never stop getting used fucking ever.
>>
>>50619096

Aberrations are something within the purview of Rovagug, of Qlippoth and the Dominion of the Black. Lamashtu does not have any interest in Aberrations, she has interest only in things with fur and claws and teeth and all the foulest things that go bump in the night.
>>
>>50618577
I would go with 2 levels of Hospitaler. A few extra single standard action d6s won't help nearly as much as two caster levels.
>>
>>50619005
to me the whole character feels like someone wanted to play a strong natural attacker and then awkwardly inserted this MILF fetish on top of it, where it doesn't make a lot of sense
>>
>>50619141

Aberrant Aegis is not aberration based, per se; it's just instead of summoning armor your mutate your body. There's plenty of natural animals out there with tentacles; since they are an animalistic feature, it felt if not fully appropriate at least not inappropriate--and what about her claws, stinger, and the other natural attacks she'll get as she levels?
>>
>>50619173

Quite the opposite, personally; it feels like they wanted to make an older, MILF character and decided to slap on a build they've been meaning to try on top of it.

For uses per day I was considering making school powers unlimited. As for their scope at 1st level you would receive an offensive and utility one.

The transmutation one for instant was "minor transmute" which does some things from prestidigitation like changing taste/color/etc, but also stuff like changing the shape of small objects, breaking small things, fixing, etc.

You don't have to listen to my opinions, but maybe you should try to do one or the other over both at once? If you wanted to go the lovely older unmarried MILF type, could always make a proper "den mother" Witchwolf that's up there in years, never settling down due to her peculiar wolfish condition (or maybe she did settle down, but all her kids left the house and the husband's dead?)

Look, I like Esmera as a character concept, but Aberrant Aegis just feels... Well, "awkward" on her. I understand the whole "she needs to be the odd one out, and unmarried" thing, which is why you could always say she's either a Pass for Human Tiefling, or simply infertile.
>>
>>50619144
Yeah, had a feeling. What about 3 levels though, and then taking Greater Mercy? Since I have the Lame Curse I'll be immune to fatigue at about level 7, so that'd be an extra d6 guaranteed plus another 1 hp thanks to Fey Foundling. Though considering my DM doesn't inflict conditions often, the third level for the Mercy really doesn't seem to have much use beyond that.

I am seeing the reasoning behind infinite use cantrips. Instead of making them limited in use, as I had planned, I think instead I may change something else.

The point of limited use cantrips were to push people towards infinite use school powers. However it seems most people prefer infinite cantrips. However it was not really cantrips in and of themselves being infinite use that harms wizards design-wise.

I may instead limit the schools under which people can take cantrips from.

>>
>>50619437
Honestly "at-will" is a simple, strong balancing point that makes shit so much easier when designing abilities.
You have 'at will', 'slots/Day' and 'Once per day'

>How powerful is this
vs
>Is this worth the build 'slot' if it's only usable x/day
vs
>is this worth the build 'slot' if it's only usable once a day.

The problem with many spells for example is that they are balanced around #3, but are in fact #2, while many attack or blasting options in the game that are limited are in fact balanced as if #1 but are in fact #2.

This is how we get shit like "it's not even worth it, just use a fucking crossbow even though the crossbow's shit" for example.
>>

Ultimate Mercy lets you waive the material cost in exchange for you taking ONE negative level which goes away on its own at the end of the day.
>>
>>50619472

>I think the discussion last time was on what the difference is between making something with a Craft skill and a Profession skill

Profession would be for something that could be considered a day's work, hardly extraordinary by itself beyond being of exceptional quality: cooking, mining and sailing are professions.

Crafting is producing one work that will endure throughout the campaign, or provide a powerful mechanical benefit.
>>

Longbow does 1d8 damage at will at level 1

A first level spell should exceed 1d8 damage to even be worth a limited per uses lot. 1d8 damage is a cantrip.

I kind of liked how 4e handled it with implements - you had like an enchanted casting symbol that your spells did damage based off of. So finding the ancient death-scepter of dreaded superlich was as big of a deal as finding the +5 holy avenger wielded by the archon-paladin guy.

>>50619526
I think there's a case to be me made for spells doing elemental damage
>>
>>50619673
Hm.

Okay, so what we actually want is ARTISTRY for making fancy dresses?

>You are skilled in the creative arts, following your aesthetic sensibilities to bring to life the wonders of your imagination.

Why the fuck is Artistry an Int skill
>>
>>50619673

W-who is Sandpoint's favorite girl?
>>
>>50619713
But elemental is almost always worse than physical.
>>
>>50619673
So, I hadn't put any points in it yet, but is there much utility in a druid putting points in herbalist and alchemy?
>>
>>50619713
>ELEMENTAL DAMAGE IS TOTALLY A GOOD REASON FOR IT TO DEAL PEANUTS FOR DAMAGE

ah yes I understand, this is why a warlock vigilante's bolts don't get any scaling, my eyes have been opened to the light
>>
>>50619758

Believe it or not, but art is a whole lot of intelligence! Hardly the wisdom-based skill you might expect.

Point is, Clothing is directly associated with Craft, an Int skill. If you want the most beautiful dress at the harvest ball, you'll need to use Craft.
>>
>>50619758
To be fair having a good grasp of art, sculpting, etc requires you to be pretty smart.
>>
>>50619762

Well, there is in herbalism - any Druid worth their salt should know what root numbs the gums and which one will ache a bad stomach.
>>
>>50619765
It would be if half the bestiary didn't get elemental resistances for no fucking reason.

>>50619713
I think 'is probably a touch attack' is likely more impactful.

>>50619780
>>50619782
Now see, I woulda thought it'd be charisma! It's about things people like, how they're perceived, fanciness, etc.

It doesn't matter if your painting doesn't look like your model, as long as it looks GOOD.
>>
>>50619758
I figure it's like knowing how to write a good story (Artistry, Craft) vs. knowing how to write something that evokes emotions or that you intend to present by reading aloud (Perform)
>>
>>50619761
Really? I never quite thought of it that way. I mean sometimes elemental damage is important to shut down things like regeneration?

>>50619765
I think you're overreacting a bit anon, and I also think it was stupid that the bolts don't get any scaling as they're the primary class feature.
>>
>>50619782

This, on the first day of Art class our professor drilled us on how "just go with your emotions" is total bullshit and the people who follow that line of thought are "starving" for a reason.
>>
>>50619801
>Now see, I woulda thought it'd be charisma! It's about things people like, how they're perceived, fanciness, etc.
Charisma is about face to face interaction. Reciting poetry vs crafting it.

I mean many great artists and writers IRL were total fucking autists who were unlucky in love and personal relationships.
>>
>>50619801

No no no, Intelligence is writing a good screenplay, Charisma is bringing that play to life on the stage! Plenty of playwrights were awkward shut-ins!
>>
>>50619795
Wouldn't that, in theory, also be covered under nature knowledge? I'm sure it depends on the specific DM, just trying to get some insight into as I've played only one game, ever.
>>
>>50619823
>>50619836

Another example is the number of people here who could craft a solid character, but insist on Text only because they freeze with voice.
>>
>>50619810
Think of how much elemental is fucked by resistances compared to dr. Consider the lower damage of elemental. The touch AC thing is probably a bigger deal
>>
>>50619842

It would! However, Knowledge (Nature) is knowing that root will soothe an upset stomach, Craft (Alchemy) is taking that root and turning it into a potion that fixes the upset stomach.

It's a matter of knowing what and knowing how, a Druid should know both.
>>
>>50619876
Gotcha. I didn't put any points in them, yet, from some advice from a friend based on what he said (that no one in the group really uses craft or profession skills), but it just seems like untapped potential to me.

Does anyone have info for playable Tavi? I just got invited to play some Pathfinder with a friend, never played a pen and paper RPG, but saw these guys and thought they seemed cool.

I'm working on some Antipaladin archetype homebrew that's something sort of like an Aberrant Aegis but with a larger emphasis on being an outer world horror / Cthulu Mythos inspired beast who uses their "suit" to turn into a beast with a mesh of abilities. You'd lose Smite Good and casting, tempted to turn Touch of Corruption into something else.

I need ideas for what customizations to use, like the Aegis there are 3 routes (Face, Brawn, Skill), but there's a 4th general route that is for those who want it all. Face is your Cha/Wis route if you wanna be some sorta ideal Hastur figure, Brawn for the Str/Con lovers, and Skill for your Dex/Int cheesebois.

Better than the first PC from Ustalav, maybe, but I wouldn't call it good. I'll give it credit for being short and to the point, though. Kinda nice to not have paragraph after paragraph of shit to sift through.

A lot of them are pretty alright, the ones that are 3-4 short-ish paragraphs are at least acceptable. If you can trim it down to 2-3 paragraphs that could easily be summarized in one sentence for a TL;DR version, that's probably best. It's what I usually shoot for as a max and repeatedly end up over.

Jot down bulletpoints so you have a skeleton of your idea to work with, and see how you can keep it concise.
