Do we have any canon inkling of what the Income T-85 looks like or how it's different from the T-70? The Wook shows a picture of a red and black X-Wing, which is apparently from Before the Awakening, but it looks exactly like a T-70 so idk.

Well, the paint scheme on Black One is actually an anti-sensor coating, so it's possible that might be something generic among T-85s?

But if all they are is a Black and Red T-70 which is somehow better, I'm okay with this.
>>
>>50458420

I feel like I got the impression somewhere that it was pretty much just the T-70 with a shiny new paint job, but I could just be making that up.

I'm torn. On the one hand, the T-70 is a solid design, on the other I'd kind of expect something that looks really different from other X-wings given how much farther along it is design wise. We'll have to see if they show up in VIII.
>>
>>50458634

In theory they should seeing as the NR is going to be fighting tbe FO directly after they got Pearl-Harbor-times-a-billion'd in VII. But that's only assuming the people making VIII remember they exist.

Most likely they'll just continue with the X-Wings we've already seen and the people who write the reference books and actually give a shit about that stuff will just label it a 85 to match with previous lore.

>>50458807
Yeah that's good! Hopefully we'll see more ship diversity, B-Wings in particular deserve some time in the limelight seeing as they got shafted by bluescreen in ROTJ. Plus maybe we can get some orignal designs as well.

Ah, a schematic, I can sorta accept it being in the pre-prototype stage.
>>
>>50458817
I hope it's just in the prototype phase.
Being in design before Yavin is nothing big, just so long as it's not at production stage yet
>>
>>50458817

There's a screencap of the blueprints, almost literally from an old EU guidebook with Hera at "concern level almost".

We'll know more as the week goes on, hopefully it's like, an early experimental (I/e the /x7) and not the full blown TIE/D design. That said, I think Rebels is trying too hard not to involve X-Wings, so a lot of Imperial fighter tech rolling out doesn't make as much sense as it did in the old EU, where basically like a year or so before Yavin there was a lot of vying for what would theoretically replace the /LN, and the fact that the X-Wing was stolen by the rebellion kind of cinched the need for /INs and /Ds to actually get out there.

Also, god forbid they actually think about what shit to throw in besides fanservice, what role would the defender actually be solving in Rebels, regular Interceptors are kicking the shit ouf of the Rebs and their 15-year old As. It'd make much more sense for them to say, pull the TIE/AG out of nowhere, a convoy escort TIE. That would actually make strategic sense and you could sell some new toys.
>>
>>50458861

Do you think LFL and FFG talk about XWM any? Does Disney/LF know how popular Defenders are right now?
>>
>>50458898
Cool plot could be Rebels do something to disrupt or delay production.
Has it as a threat, and let's the rebels be involved with the original trilogy without being involved

Defenders are fantastic, but I'd love it if they brought back Avengers to fill their old role as the logical step up from the Avanced x1 before you got to the Defender's ludicrously high price tag.
>>
>>50458977

Hell, worst-case scenaeio they can always just make up some new, even crazier shit to fill in the post-Yavin gaps stuff like the Defender used to fill. That's where all these designs came from in the first place; they never show up in the movies.

See, this sort of thing I think works for Rebels. You already had a little bit of it, and you've got Grand Admiral "Missile Boat" Thrawn in the show now. Give them some Xs and some new aces, they start popping eyes and squints. You need some real new tech out there.

Avengers, Aggressors, even Experimentals they work perfect for a show like Rebels as maybe an episode or a couple of episodes (like the Interdictor episode, which was pretty good) "Holy shit scary TIEs are all over us, we lost another 6 guys in Phoenix."

And then smash cut to thrawn talking with a Sienar exec being like "I need more bat shit crazy fighters!"

Hell, it's the perfect lead in to the TIE Hunter. Storm Commandos are already canon again, pretty sure.

No, I'm not JUST hoping LFL recanonizes some ships so I can get them in XWM

Rebels is actually in the ideal time for the theoretical predecessor, the Assault Gunboat. Imagine giving the Ghost a run for her money with some Macross-level shit.

Well, the New Republic was demilitarizing itself and the Resistance is a small cell scrounging together what leftover equipment it can. Since half of their T-70 fleet was destroyed at Death Planet 9000, it only makes sense that they would find a mothballed squadron of old T-65's to help improve their numbers, complete with a volunteer group of semi-retired veteran pilots whose old-fashioned warmongering ways have put them at edge with the newly pacified surrender-monkeys running the New Republic. And so that Denis Lawson can reprise his role as Wedge Antilles to become a pivotal member of the resurgent canon.

easy solution, we'll use the highest technology (duct tape) to create a tandem TIE fighter. TIEs are too cheap individually to install a hyperdrive ring to them, but a large hyperdrive ring that fits 2 ties could be easily sold as its own product. That way you've got 2 ties worth of power, speed, solar panels, cockpits, laser cannons, pilots, and a hyperdrive they share for the low cost of one hyperdrive ring.
>>
>>50471093

So four solar panel wings forming a box around the cockpit?

Gotten some interesting leads on the Striker, hearing translated from someone who has seen work from the Polish distributor who shows more text off in their version of the preview.

PS3 generic translated as "Defender of Scarif"
PS4 genetic is Black Squadron Scout
PS5 Pilot is "Countdown"
PS6 Pilot is "Pure Sabacc" and appears to have an attacking related ability

and the new unique EPT starts with "Leader" in Polish, so that's interesting.

So yes, the Basilisk droid version was an intentional departure from the older models, and we take full responsibility. It is noteworthy that LucasArts and Lucasfilm agreed with our decision on the first pass, much as they agreed with the decisions made with K1's look."

>Dustin Weaver, the artist for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Flashpoint seems to have made an effort to reconcile the design variations, depicting Basilisks with both the body of the traditional mount-type droid and the wings and details of the Virago-like design from Knights of the Old Republic II.[12]

The artist tried to bridge the gap and explain Avellone's fuck-up in the comic series. IIRC, it was mostly the TOTJ chassis with a few minor gubbins from the Starviper abortion.

And yes, it's widely agreed that the KOTOR vidya artists are fucking morons and the KOTOR 2 Basilisk redesign was fucking moronic. The comic, however, was actually pretty good--better story than the games, more entertaining characters, better art.

Actually, people always get that bit wrong. Noticing a thing is not analyzing a thing. The key part of sherlock's identity is that he sees the same things everyone else does but intuits far more from those facts than they can. People just conflate 'noticing' with 'analyzing' because unless you consciously unbifurcate those actions your brain only makes you 'notice' something when it thinks it has analyzed something important about it.

Alright guys.

Odds are good i'm going to be splitting off half this group I joined and GMing it. #ForeverGM

Party's on coruscant - made contact with a Duros young woman at the request of her father, helped save her during a Sabacc den shootout.

I've got a basic plot in mind, but I need some info from your premier starheads -

What is an Imperial Inquisitor, and are they what I think they are?

Is there any good resources on the moves the Rebel Alliance made directly after the Battle of Endor?

Where do I find out more about General Bel Iblis?

Is there a list of Rebel bases during various stages of the conflict, if not, what are some cool wild-worlds to have hidden rebel bases on them (notably - I want one equidistant between Hutt Space and Coruscant, ideally also near Tatooine)?

Assuming I am going to be making up my own rules for space combat because wow, are there any other particularly sticky parts of the rules (other than the huge focus that it seems to put on ultra-specialization) that I should be keeping in mind?

Is there a timeline for what ships were available when, fightercraft-wise? I don't know anything beyond the movies, so if there's some weird kind of tie fighter or something I could be using then that would help. Specifically looking for a souped-up fightercraft/light shuttle for a Sith to fly. Timeline is 4 months after the Battle for Endor and the Emperor's death.

A lot of things about the star wars setting, mysterious powers usable only by biological beings that make them and other biologicals super-strong, computers being simplistic or unused (star destroyers having actual _crews_, etc), the only high-ish-level artificial intelligences being physically placed in robot bodies and not exceeding human intelligence much, those robots being almost hilariously subservient, the internalized unspoken/thought about sneering disdain for droids, the fear of 'battle droids' out of proportion for their effectiveness (and the use of largely humanoid forms for said 'battle droids' instead of more effective droideka type machines)...

It all makes sense if you posit the Star Wars setting as being the survivor setting of an AI uprising. Way back, real sci fi tech was present and there was a massive war with AI - a massive war that created things like 'The Force', a massive upgrade to cognition and ability limited solely to biological life-forms, and spawned an almost instinctive distrust/hatred amongst the population of thinking machines, 'fighting droids', and robots - even known-to-be-subservient-to-a-fault ones. This led to a lower-tech but still spacefaring galaxy, with tech lost and limited by it all having to be stuff that could be built by simple automated factories (or actual biological workforces) and designed and repaired by hand. A remnant, perhaps, of a war the current 'races' (genegeneered humans who've forgotten they all share a common heritage) of the galaxy have likely forgotten.

That's my personal headcanon, anyway. Makes the star wars galaxy a bit grittier and hard-sci-fi than otherwise.
>>
>>50485172
>there was a massive war with AI
We call it the Butlerian Jiha--er, the Clone Wars.
>>
>>50485194

Even in the clone wars era, tech is hand-crafted/hand-designed - there's no AI, and computer systems are simple ones no more powerful than the ones we use today.

The battle droids in the clone wars were just as stupid (if not more stupid) than standard droids, and led by biological leaders/designed by biological designers (trade feds, later.. cyborgs?).

This would be a war a lot longer ago than that.
>>
>>50485246
Grunt B1s are stupid, sure. They're grunts. They're meant to be retarded, cheap cannon fodder. Magnaguards, SBDs, and Droidekas are noticeably smarter. Officer droids like OOM-9 were pretty goddamn smart as well. If we go by Legends, OOM-9 was skilled enough to lead the conquest of multiple Naboo cities even before fucking up the Gungans on the plains. TCW also gave us commando droids which, IIRC, were perfectly capable of fucking up the clones, too. Droid starfighters were also fairly book-smart and dangerous. They just sucked at responding quickly to unpredictable improvisation.
>>
>>50485172
It makes even more sense if you think of Star Wars as space fantasy, with space wizards, space dogfights, emperor's, princesses, knights, sword fights, etc
>>
>>50485472

You do you bud, but i'm not comfortable just going 'lol space fantasy' - I need some kind of explanation that makes logic sense or I can't enjoy a fictional work.

>>50485358

Yes and people are flipping their lids many years later about 'the clone wars' even naming them 'the clone wars' rather than 'the droid wars' (which would seem more appropriate, but gives legitimacy to AI and droids), even while being seriously oppressed by an Empire and with a galactic rebellion/civil war going on they still seem to fear 'the clone wars' more.

I'm not saying this is the writers' explanation, at all. But it makes sense to me, which is the main thing (for me). It also makes sense that The Force is a crossdimensional superweapon developed with genetic or memetic access codes for biological beings only, as part of a massive technologically-ascendant humanity vs Hard AIs war that occurred in the 'pre-recorded-history' part of star wars' setting.

that's great for you, but just because you need to apply our realities rules to other realities doesn't mean that entire genres should be abandoned.

In star wars intellegence=personality. The only way to prevent droid uprisings is to give them stupid or subserviant personalities, and you keep them locked into seperate bodies because that's how intellegent personalities work.

That's a basic law of that universe, like that the force exists, has a light and dark side, hyperdrives are a thing, and something forces space combat to happen at knife fight range, and lasers are very slow.

Just the way nature works there.
>>
>>50486040
and before you counter about fantasy not having logic, fantasy can have plenty of logic, it just follows from premises that are false in our reality and true in theirs.

Logic does not assume premises beyond it's own rules.

Some fantasy authors apply more logic to their fantasy working, Brandon Sanders being pretty high there, but others play more loose.

Inability to work from altnernate premises is a weakness in your ability to think logically, not a strength.

Playing FFG Star Wars this weekend. What's a good build for a Solid Snake/Big Boss-esque character? Someone with a good mix of combat and stealth skills, maybe with a bit of survival and tactical knowledge on the side.
>>
>>50486758
Any particular book?
First places to look will be Thief or Shadow. I'm not familiar with all AoR's options so I'll leave that one out.
>>
>>50486758
So what is he gonna be?
A ex-imperial commando who had to kill his mentor/was left for dead?

You do realize midichlorians isn't what causes an individual to have force, just a measure of force sensitivity.
>>
>>50487487
it's a big category.
I was going to include Dukat after Waltz, but then I realized that "Dukat died at the end of Waltz" is a slightly different category of "Things that absolutely happened, ignore everything to the contrary".
>>

According to F&D it's not even a good measure.

So, Right now FFG lists the U-wing and TIEStriker as "Now shipping", while the rest of the wave X is still "On the boat". It looks like they're rushing in the ships for the movie.
>>
>>50487687
Well duh.
>>
>>50487687
honestly never considered the U-wing and TIE striker as part of wave X.

The three wave X ships are clearly connected in design, all support ships, all add something new to their faction: illicits to rebels, tech to scum, the coordinate order.
All come with an upgrade that's not faction specific and opens up lots of new build ideas outside of the ship. EMP, Salvage Crane, the Upsilon techs.

The U-wing and TIE striker just got added to this wave because the movie happened to be coming out near it, and they like having all their ships as part of waves for whatever reason. If the wave or movie schedule was different they could have been in wave IX or XI, because they are not part of the wave design.

The Tie Striker and U-Wing are like the T-70 and Tie/FO. They were added into the wave, and were probably done and ready for release just as soon as they were given the go-ahead. X just happened to be that Wave.

The miraluka decided to break the system over his knee, the party instigated a massive prison riot that evolved into a prison break, a Grand Inquisitor was assassinated, countless storm troopers were terminated, and the GM learned a valuable lesson about the fickle nature of players, and the tendency of some to run away from the plot as quickly as they can.
>>

Eh. He fought Kanan effectively like one time and pretty much none of his plans worked. Overall it would have worked much better if he was just one guy among many instead of actually their best man. Plus Filoni decided to give him a tragic/cryptic backstory then drop the fuck out of that plot thread completely and kill off all the other Inkies. Guess writing conclusions is too hard.

Can anyone tell me how the hell the Hutts got so powerful and then tell me how they keep that power ?

They'll fat worms how the hell did they even get off their planet in the first place?
>>
>>50492000
Out of universe: Jabba was powerful, so all Hutts must be powerful criminals.

In-universe: Don't know about nucanon. In Legends, they're naturally highly intelligent, paranoid, manipulative, business-savvy, and patient. They have a healing factor, long natural lifespan, high resistance to Jedi mind voodoo, and a complete lack of moral compass. Hutts also tend to skilled at networking and avoiding danger. They're known for making heavy use of proxies, decoys, and minions to avoid having to make direct contact. IIRC, Hutt culture also causes the Hutts to close ranks when threatened by an outsider.

It's also cost-effective to keep the Hutts in charge of crime. They keep it orderly. Eliminating the Hutts means a power vacuum, chaos, and a whole lot more dead bodies. It's also probably a lot easier to predict the actions of the Hutts (one homogeneous species and culture) than the actions of countless smaller criminal organizations and kingpins.

Theyre the bully mastermind that leads a crowd of lesser, tougher, but dumber bullies.

Specifically, Hutts hold in thrall a number of species with nowhere near Hutt intelligence, but plenty of strength, notably the Ganks, Nikto, and Weequay.
>>
>>50498261
>little to no physical ability
Swole the Hutt would like to disagree with you. Hutts are cunning, have a healing factor, are though as nails, and basically won the galactic slave race lottery.
>>
>>50498261
They had quite advanced technology, so they annexed their neighbours and have had them under fealty for about the last 20,000 odd years. So, if you have a whole planets worth of stinky Klatooinians or Weequay as 'problem solvers', you can afford to sit down, get fat and let other people do the fighting for you.
>>
>>50498261
Essentially waaaaaaay back when Hutts were warlike badasses who then enslaved or hired a bunch of less intelligent Warlike Badass species to do a great deal of fighting for them.

They were really far ahead on the tech track and managed to coast on that comfortable lead for a while.

I've heard that out of the starter decks, with the way points are arranged, people tend to play Rey with 2 dice and Kylo with 1, so the villain deck tends to be a bit weaker as a result.

The Villain Starter requires more micro-management than the Rey Starter. For new and inexperienced players, it's harder to manage Kylo Ren than it is for the same player to manage Rey. Once you've got a few games under your belt, they become more even. If you're going to pick up Villain my advice to you is to always have one resource in reserve - Villain dice tend to need resources to trigger, while Hero dice tend to need other Hero dice. It's easier mid-turn to roll up a second result for your modifier than it is to produce a new resource, which makes Kylo seem less powerful. Once you master that, the Kylo Starter is almost the better one.

Toy actually gives a decent view of the sniper mode in shitty plastic.

How would it even work mechanically in-universe? Does it still fire pistol-power bolts?
>>
>>50507054
Looks like Czerka Arms garbage
>>
>>50507098
The answer is that it works very well, thank you.
>>
>>50507098
Easy to technobabble. Additional galven circuitry in the barrel, plus another tibanna gas canister somewhere to feed more juice in and you'd have the infantry equivalent of a turbolaser bolt-on. The TFA visual dictionary has examples of Trandoshan bolt-on pistol upgrades.
>>
>>50507098
I think the other parts have extra power cells,, galven focus, and gas canisters.

Figuring out which end to reload in a firefight must be a pain in the ass.
>>
>>50507252

Luckily, actually running out of ammo should be fairly rare unless you're firing a shitload.

XCOM 2 really needs a Star Wars Total Conversion mod, its perfect for it.

I like these a lot, though his holster is 'awkward' for a right hand draw to say the least!
Going to be funny seeing Ben 'I'm a bogan' Mendelsohn in a role like that
>>
Man, this thing is so tiny but apparently it can work for a family of three in relative comfort, which is pretty nice. It's also basically a fighter with two (I believe independent) turrets and some good forward stuff to boot.

>>50507653
Definitely a left hand cross-body-draw, also Pablo said the wood plates didn't pinch much.

One of my Sergeants was a fucking mad scientist. Every time we went anywhere he'd have some weird shit he'd try to make, or bring out. Dude made a bottle launcher out of some tape and cardboard tubes. We were launching coke bottles to the top of a bigass hangar. He brought a butane soldering iron, discovered it could work like a torch, and started seeing what he could melt with it, like pennies. All kinds of ridiculous shit.

In Afghan motherfuckers were collecting small animals or bugs and making them fight, making rock formation sculptures(dicks usually), or playing board games and shit. Spades, Dominoes, all kindsa shit.

Man, talk about taking a poorly scaled ship and making it worse!
>>
>>50506499

Hot damn I want one. Reminds me a little of the starter ship from Freelancer.

I think my biggest peeve with the firespray is the flat pancake ass. That this does not have.
>>
>>50507673

Neat, didn't know someone else had done an internal. I get why Chrome does his the way he does (realistic space constrains), but it's Star Wars man. If I wanted meter think hull panels on every ship, I wouldn't be here.
>>
>>50506499
How would that thing even park? It looks like there's a hinge behind the "beak" but that would presumably cause it to fold in such a way that the ship sits on the curved face, which is nonsensical.

His wasn't AWFUL either, and he doesn't exactly do thick hull plating, he just has fucked up ideas of which parts should have compartments that fit people. And he HATES the idea of engine rooms and mainteance crawlspaces.
