On the topic of tonks and boops, what are your bets for what is going to be in the March IA14 book for Admech? Planning a Mechanicum army, but I would like to use the better part of it in my 40k games as well once IA comes out.

Do you think we'll get Triaros, Myrmidons or Thallax? Kind of want a Reductor army but with a few robots thrown in, like maybe some Vorax or a Thanatar.

Planning on using this as some Militia allies for my SW as serf and thrall auxiliaries who've undergone implantation but failed to become proper Marines or suffered from Wulfdom.

I've been thinking of adding either a second squad of Grenadiers or 3 quad mortar Rapiers. Would the Grenadiers benefit from Discipline Collars? I intend to put the commander with the Ogryns to give them a CC and Ld. boost. I know it's a little pointless to have him in both PA and with a Iron Halo/Cyber-Familiar combo, it's more of a thematic modelling thing.

Hit or miss. As in when it hits it more often than not explodes what it's shooting at, but I also had games where it was snake eyes all the time. But it also always draws anti-vehicle weapon fire away from the rhinos and walking dudes, which is always nice.

Mine has them modeled because I'm a derp.

It has an ordnance weapon which it can fire at full speed because it's a fast tank but that'll make any other shots snapfires, so there's no point in taking sponsons you'll rarely use.

Normal sicarans are badass with sponsons tho

Ignoring all the other stuff in MoM, I thought Zephon (the blood angel) was actually pretty based.

What a tip-top guy. It's the sort of thing ADB's actually good for, so much of the book is about how the custodes are better and more important than the astartes, but he includes this dude as a mirror showing the ways in which the custodes are kind of dicks by comparison.

It depends on how competitive your playgroup is. If you guys just play casual matches without bullshit, the reason to go to 30k is the old lore, and old space marines. But if it is full of bullshit, you don't get as much bullshit in 30k.

It's a slugfest between marines, the AdMech, the Solar Auxilary, militias, cults, and daemons without any Xeno or formation hassle.

It's a pretty fun game. All of the factions are well balanced. It doesn't suffer from rules creep either.

More limitations on armybuilding, fielding LOW and superheavies, and 90% of the armies using the same 'codex' as a base makes it a shining example of game balance compared to 40k. Just gotta watch out for cybernetica mechanicum.
But mainly not being able to throw together any number of force organisation charts, formations and whatnot with some superheavy D spamming units on top helps a lot. If you apply those restrictions to 40k it also becomes a lot more enjoyable (still gotta avoid Eldar and Tau like the plague though)

Flyers really need a rule that lets them make a Drop Pod style entry onto the field. It's stupid that a rocket powered brick shot from orbit can adjust its course and avoid hitting anything better than an actual aircraft with maneuvering thrusters and a crew who can see where he's going. They don't need the drop pod assault rule, just the internal guidance for deep striking onto the table, representing a lander coming in hot to deliver cargo on point.

Right, I have my first game of 30k on Saturday, using proxy models because my glorious servants of the Omnissiah are still in the post.

It's me, with a weird hybrid Taghmata list with a mishmash of everything, vs the local World Eaters player. I know he's using a Primarch, and likes his Stormraven a lot, but that's about it.

Tips for Mechanicum generally and against WE in particular? Don't really know what they do aside from lots of choppy.
Included Scoria in my list because I like his fluff and hear he might actually be able to take Angron, so that could be nice.

Planning on a Thanatar, a couple of Castellax, 40 Thralls, some Myrmidon Destructors with Graviton Imploders and a couple of other things. Playing 2k, but you really can't fit much in your lists in 30k from what I've seen.

This is the thoughts of one of the Custodes about 5 years after the warning. So how does this now work with the fact that the warning arrived two years before Istvaan? If Magnus's warning got through why did the Emperor do nothing about it? Why does BL find it so hard to write about the events that surround Magnus?

Now someone there mention that this has already been retconned with new editions of the older book. is there anyway to learn what was changed or in which books? I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as I dont read all the HH books and dont really know where to get the information.

Let me tell you that having read all the HH books doesn't make things any clearer. Between A Thousand Sons, The Outcast Dead and Master of Mankind the whole story around Magnus' warning and its place on the timeline is rather messy.

It's starting to feel like they're retconning retconned retconns just for the sake of retconning.

Besides BL fluff changes with every new book. Before this MoM was there a single reference to the Emperor battling in the webway vs Abaddons sword? No. BL is extended universe, codex fluff is lore.

I was more thinking about the edition changes that this other guy mentions. Where do I go to find out what changed in which books? When did Magnus's warning get retconned. Why was Prospero destroyed if they knew what was going on? Doesnt that ruin the sub plot of Ahriman explaining it to the SW rune priest before destroying him?

FW books are written by an in-verse character who doesn't have the whole details. She acts as a historian by giving overall view but never the details. She doesn't tell for example why the Alpha really turned and what happened to Alpharius or who is Omegon. These things she wasn't there for and so she doesn't know. By the way, in the latest BL weekender they confirmed that Alphy is dead for real.

GW incorporates 'some' of the BL fluff. And then it becomes canon instead of extended universe material.

40k is used to sell miniatures which is why the codex fluff is number one. BL is a side project to this which is why we have Cain alive in the 42 millennium and other blunders of continuity.

FW fluff for Custodes hover tanks says they were tech from pre-crusade era, improved upon during the crusades. In MoM Mr. Land says he was the one to discover the skimmer tech needed for the custodes tank..

Make the sergeant extra pimped and the non-sergeant a corporal type second in command you can use as a sergeant if you split up the squad into 2 units of 5. That's what I did with my squads, including tacticals. There's one dude who's all fancy Artificer Armour type guy and another why's a more generic helmet plume dude that will pale in comparison to the actual sergeant, but if fielded alongside 9 other dudes would be distinct enough to look like a sergeant.

We've had statements from GW about the point of the lore and it always comes down to selling models. I dont not need to buy BL to play the game. I do need a codex and a rule book. Therefore codex fluff is the canon lore for the given faction. If I wish to explore the world more there the extended canon material such as BL and other texts such as dark heresy on so forth. As you say GW hasnt endorsed BL only the BL staff attempt to come out and claim as such.
