The trick is to mill a few at a time if you want zombie tokens. Phenax is only around 3, and can target yourself. If you can give them haste, maybe with the lightning greaves, thousand-year elixir, or coridant crossroads, then you got a good engine going.

Sultai ascendency and as many dredge cards as you can fit work wonders.

Extractor demon is ok, he mills you when ever something dies and can unearth

Nix Weaver and splinter fright are also pretty reliable, splinter fright getting bigger as the game goes

Jarad's orders let's you get a zombie token from the Entomb half, which is just icing on the cake since it tutors a creature to hand also

Dread summons and Lilliana's indignation are good, since they either get you a bunch more zombies or make a player loose a handful of life if you have the mana

To go big or go home, I recommend Mirror-Mad Phantasm. He is 65 cents and I have used him to easily mill dozens of cards in a turn. I once milled out and won on Laboratory Maniac on turn 6 with this bastard

I can understand double sleeving, I have my foiled out Merieke deck double sleeved. But also in top loaders? What do you have that is so important?

Are there any Duel Commander players here? A couple guys at my LGS are thinking of making decks/bringing a few cards to swap into their EDH decks for 1v1. I'm thinking of making Vial Smasher//Kraum because Vial Smasher is actually fucking retarded and Kraum 1) gives me blue, and 2) is a beatstick. Vial Smasher honestly feels broken on paper. Turn 3 cast her, pass, Force of Will something, deal 5, untap draw, cast Gurmag Angler, swing, opponent is on 6, Bolt, pass, hold up Countersquall. Seems stupid.

I have many,they are my favorite kinda box. Yeah, they fit 100 double sleeved cards well, although at first due to air bubbles in a freshly double sleeved deck, it will be tight. The air bubbles go away after a few matches of play, and some time in the box, though. (I use kmc perfect fit and dragon shields for sleeves)

Drop some stuff for illusionists bracers, most things cannot survive getting -8-8 and you dont need a removable creature to do it. You're missing mycoynth lattice it makes the infinate combos that breya has work better.

Have you ever gotten to a point where everyone just said "screw this game"?

When playing my Zedruu deck, I had Confusion in the Ranks out, and my opponent had Bitterblossom and Ophiomancer. Tokens and the Ophiomancer, along with everything else, got passed around like crazy for a few turns. Then my opponent activated Homeward Path and silence hit us as we all realized nobody noted who actually owns which token.

Luckily, someone played a Wrath at that point.

The decks are expensive because it's so fucking hard to get them sealed. You could probably save money by building them from singles.

I recently took apart my Zedruu precon and sold the expensive cards for a nice amount of store credit, and I still have some decent cards left.

Note that the Kaalia deck will get reprinted next year in the Commander Anthology. With the M15 frame.

I like the dual commanders. Since enchantress has no good commander and there's a finite amount of enchantresses period, i've been enjoying Ravos as a stabilizer while Kydele ramps so incredibly hard with Seraph's sanctum it's crazy.

Personal opinion but I'm not impressed about Mimic Vat in a deck that has rely on the other players to kill off creatures when your deck can hardly do so. In its place, you could always go for a haymaker spell. I noticed Mind over Matter isnt in the list, and it goes well with your Temple Bell. You might have to slot in an Eldrazi Titan v.1 or Elixer of Immortality or even Reminisce to prevent decking yourself.

Sen Triplets has lots of potential. You can steal shit, be political, control the shit out of their game, go combo, since one of the players wouldn't be able to respond. Whatever you do, make sure to run Chromatic Lantern and Forbidden Orchard. Something to deny their resources would be good too, this way you can keep their hands full.

I always prioritize the latest printing in the M15 border (incl. FTV - they are distinct but not that bad in my experience). For basics, I prefer the BFZ full arts, and all basics of one type have to have the same picture.

For stuff like Humble Defector that got reprinted in C16 - I keep my older foil version. Unless the latest foil printing was in an older frame. Then I go for the latest nonfoil version.

I can't afford expeditions or masterpieces, so I exclude them from my priority lists.

But then I realized, the plane cards themselves damage easily. Do you have a preference for sleeves for your giant cards? I'm getting mixed reviews from google.

"face down" isn't literal. there can be as many "faces" to a card as there needs to be. Think of it more like a "form". A double sided card has two forms. If you manifest a double sided card, or flip it face down with Ixidron, it merely gains a third form. Your post is kinda confusing. "Face-down" is very literal. Every card on the battlefield has a face. A double-faced card has two faces.

A double-faced card can't be turned face-down by any effect, because they don't have a "face-down position". However you turn them, they are always one face up.

However, the top card of your library is not a "double-faced card", cards in libraries don't have "faces", therefore you can manifest any card from the top of your library and put it on the battlefield "face down" with no problems. If that turns out to be a werewolf or a sorcery, it doesn't matter.

I know it's another thing to add into the shopping list of decent-sort-of-pricy items but consider Staff of Domination. It's pretty much the epitome of value overtime and a combo piece in of itself, and since you say you have mana left over, you can use that to your advantage with this stick.

Ah, "Haymaker" is usually the play that turns the game to your favor after resolution. Overloaded Cyclonic Rift is the most common one. Insurrection too. But in this case I was referring to dropping your combo right after it becomes 1v1.

I'm horribly guilty of this, if "guilty" is the right word. When I ran Aurelia tokens, I would often spread the pain as equally as I possibly could considering everyone's respective boardstate quality and number of blockers. The same happens when my Gitrog deck makes a lot of tokens even now. In fact people pick on me a lot for being too nice and that I'm throwing games because of it. I don't think that last bit is entirely true but I do wonder sometimes if being too nice can be a problem for me as a player.

i get mana screwed even when i play online. it just happens sometimes. start with 3 lands, draw none in the next 6 turns. sometimes i start with 2 lands if i have otherwise really good ramp, and i calculate there being a 95% chance of drawing a land by so and so turn, and i STILL dont draw it sometimes.

I play with a guy who has a stupid huge collection. We play at his place a lot. He has a Child of Alara deck that's basically a mana fixing shell and whatever he feels like throwing in. He has the full wish cycle in there, plus glittering wish. It's a dumb deck that he plays for fun, so we're all cool with him just grabbing whatever.

So my friend bought the old 2013 Naya Precon and doesnt like any of the commanders.

He has already made a move when he makes a video. If his followers follow exactly what he does, it benefits his position.

The deck is boring and it's next to impossible to keep walkers alive for more than 2 turn cycles in my meta. I feel like the only way to make it viable at all in my meta is to add shit like Stasis and Winter Orb, which would just be pure (unfun) cancer.

Planeswalkers either do fucking nothing, or they ulti straight away using cards like that doubling fish or doubling season and turn the game into a chore as people try to play around 2-3 crippling emblems that don't finish the game.

I tried making a 5 color superfriends deck around theros and it was fucking miserable.

Put it in normally until you can, then slide it in carefully with your thumb or your index finger. The finger puts pressure on the inner sleeve while sliding it in so it doesn't slide out.

For 2015, I bought the Meren and Daxos decks and modded them.

My multiplayer approach is kick back and durdle with reasonable threats or way encourage not messing with my board state

Daxos has been somewhat underwhelming. I got him since I had a Dimir constellation non-edh (too lazy for 60 card formats) that I've had fun with and recently made Esper for Stanfield of Nyx and that enchantment that makes angels on casts.

Anyway, I started trying to do budget pillow fort, and that didn't work. Now it's more of a hey I've got a bit more than average removal and enchantment value.

No set wincon atm. Here's a link if anyway has suggestions. On a budget but I ordered some things over the weekend on the cheap

I bought her and some cards even before the wincon. The only difference was, I chose to go for the counters for creatures route and a few $10 walkers to go as alternate wincons.

I'm having fun with it. First game I had with her on my meta, I managed to drop and ult Bant Tamiyo (thanks Deepglow Skate) which led me to drop most of my walkers and ulted them. Most of the time when I win with her, its due to Atraxa getting big and swinging in for the kill.

I've been looking for a good EDH precon to carry with me to lend it to people who don't have a deck yet. Which one should I get? Ideally, it should be:
a) noob-friendly
b) decent out of the box
c) capable of standing a chance against a real edh deck
d) not monocolor

Anyone has experience with the Saskia deck?

one of the 2015s would likely be best. both ezuri and meren have been some of the strongest precons in a while. 4 colour may not be a good choice for a new player, as fixing can be tricky for a newer player to learn.

Atraxa is probably the strongest out of the bunch, mostly just because of how strong a deterrent she is. Prevents people from attacking into you better than most pillowfort effects, while still swinging at other players, gaining you life and racking up commander damage.

Then you somehow get a +1/+1 counter on Atraxa and all hell is loose.

Although experiment kraj is just an all together fun deck. I'm enjoying my wort boggart auntie build too, in a more "casual" meta. (I hate referring to metas as casual or not, some decks have a higher power level then others and are just not suitable for play in "lower " games)

Power level has to do with many things, I think.

1) experience of player *in game*. Anyone can netdeck a killer tier 1 deck, not everyone can pilot it.

2) version of deck, how many times has it been (efficiently) tweaked and tuned? How much love do you have for your commander?

3) strength and potential of commander. Like it or not, sometimes the simplest meren deck will decimate the most tuned haakon deck, simply because she is more useful and is easier to build a strong and consistent strategy around.

4) time and exposure to the game. Some aspects to the game simply work off of how long you've been around and how well you can predict plays from specific decks. (knowledge of the strategies of edh, politics, threat assessment, etc as well)

5) money put into deck. Again, like it or not, money powers the game up. (Assuming use of proxies are not allowed, not that they shouldn't be, but for the sake of the post

6) intent of deck. Sometimes a deck just wont cut it if it's trying not to be as spike as possible. Ape tribal just won't be strong, even if all the other #s are fufilled. Same thing with purposely gimping a deck.

What am I missing ?

sidenote, a higher Power level does not make the game necessarily better, try not to start an arms race if you're in a comfy place with your meta. Winning isn't everything!

Winning isn't everything, but making your deck better and seeing it play out is probably the greatest enjoyment I get from EDH.

As I was gradually tweaking my Breya and added all the good 2 CMC rocks, the deck became so much better. Noticing how big the change was and how much smoother the deck became as a result is a great feeling.

Especially when you go Etherium Sculptor into 4 different 2 CMC rocks that tap for 1 into a Wheel of Fortune. Feels so good.

So the only good green deck I have (omnath of rage) isn't doing it for me anymore because the meta has shifted too much. What deck would you recommend to somebody that is really fun in green that isnt just spamming terrastadon? I'm tired of my green deck's strongest thing being hunting for one card to combo with.

literally any green deck can do this. As a group hug commander they are fine sure, but nothing about their mechanics or theme is very impressive. They could have been printed as mono G in all honestly, or UG. They don't have any R in their design or W. I like the characters, but the card fails to properly display all 4 colors.
They are a failed card design.
