It isnt worth it in a deck that doesnt have a plan to load the graveyard. In decks that go super tall and dont have graveyard synergy, such as khalia and ping of riots, there are better things to do with your manabase, and that includes more basics.

Crypt is really good, just not in every deck.

Recently bought the "Swell the Host" Pre-Con that my LGS had on sale for $25 and picked up an additional $25 of singles and was wondering if its worth getting critique on, and what the preferred method for posting lists here is.

Usually playing 3-4 players after work around a kitchen table so its pretty casual.

Not really a metric but it shows that people probably have a few staple cards and common wincons, multi-color decks wont have the worst lands but definitely nothing better than shocks I'd guess.

Alright, so, I know not many people are all that interested in the Winter Ball, but a lot of /tg/ loves interesting matches, and EDH General loves deck-crafting, so here's my pitch:

We're challenging /vp/ to a game of Commander over Xmage, which will be recorded and streamed for everyone's collective viewing pleasure. In order to keep things fair, we're building the decks as a pair.

First, we're designing /vp/'s deck, using Karametra as the General, and having a heavily creature focused deck. Main goal of the deck is to ramp then get out the fatties as fast as possible, with combos based on Landfall and Creature summon.

Play it as a heavy sac/recursion deck and go ham. The other day I had two Blinkmoth Urns, Nim Deathmantle and Slobad, so basically it was "4: Make 2 thopters." Once I started getting over 100 mana a turn I threw around 60 thopters with her for 90 damage.

She's a combo control deck and all her abilities are quite good. Even the life game has saved my hind a few times.

you need four creature cards in your yard before it even nets one mana. If you're dropping that many creatures in your yard you're probably playing reanimator and will start dropping your Crypt's mana potential.

If it counted creature cards in every yard it might be worth playing but right now it's a really shitty Urborg that requires you to build around it with no garunteed payoff.

Endrek is the primary fuel for the deck to survive,and is HEAVILY built around

I had a modern grixis affinity deck that ran that and cranial plating as a finisher. It was so awesome, but could be disrupted easy. I took apart my Slobad deck to try building a Breya deck.

After a week I put my Slobad deck together again, mainly because other than a few overpowered artifacts, almost nothing in the decks overlapped.
My Breya deck is way more focused on artifact creatures and colored artifacts than slobad is.

Kaalia is only good in metas where people are dumb enough not to run enough disruption.
Besides, I have never seen a single Kaalia deck that didn't rely on the commander, and one Darksteel Mutation or similar, their game is over, same goes for Animar, but that fuck has at least protection and is actually good to a cancerous effect.
Price doesn't equal quality necessarily, this is why cheaper decks can beat expensive ones, because of better pilot and/or deckbuilding skills.

Even with a two blockers, you're still taking at least 3/4ths of your life out right there. Considering the deck runs multiple combat interaction spells, it is a threat.

In mine, it's not uncommon to Expedite into 4-5 buff spells and deal well over 100 damage at once. I run a goblin tribal variant, and they're often not just 1/1's and there's usually 8+ tokens on the board at any given time.

Oh, and that 44 damage was on turn 4. Any deck in a singleton format that has multiple ways to deal that amount of massive damage that early in the game is a threat. Whether or not you want to admit that is on you.

When the Heart of the Cards happen, it feels so good.

It was also silly and astounding on that same game when the Rakdos player Chaos Warp'd Breya's Mycosynth Lattice, but after intense shuffling and cutting, and even letting the Rakdos player shuffle it, Mycosynth still turned up. We all laughed so hard and loud when it happened.

Having some grouphug to discourage people from attacking you for a bit so they can reap the rewards is nice, but sitting there and helping out everyone with no intent on winning is a bit silly and elongates the game.
