How much do you stand up against furry style races (see Augunas) and promote uguu anime kemonomimi races? Pic related?

I'm a filthy fucking furry fan myself and think Augunus goes too far. Just stop with shoving it in everywhere. But I'm fine if a player wants something like gnolls, lizardfolk, kobolds, wyvaran, catfolk etc. Kitsune should die and be replaced with proper kitsune.

Like they did in The Dying Earth.

>In the Dying Earth, wizards use magic primarily by memorizing lengthy formulas for spells, and then activating them by speaking the proper commands. Once cast, the spell formula is instantly forgotten, requiring the wizard to reread and re-memorize them. Because even talented wizards can only memorize and "load" a handful of spells, wizards also have to rely on magical relics and on their other skills and talents to protect them.
>>
>>50247832
Destruction is often better at battle field control than damage unless you cheese the fuck out of it. Take crystal/living crystal blast and go to town.

Weather is also good for laying down fog walls.

Time can get you haste right out of the fucking gate.

>>
>>50247581
Honestly, I don't play them myself - faces are kinda important to me, which led to my DM retconning in a race of asari-esque axolotl people - but i don't MIND anthro races. Gnolls, lizardfolk, thri-keen etc. It's when they start looking like DA OCs that I get offput, with weirdly dextrous snouts and so on.

Do they intuitively understand/know the formulas or something?

Yes.

Wizards study the manual to operate the machine that lifts the rock.

Sorcerers just know the manual that operates the machine that lifts the rock.

Occult Psychics have the spirits tell them how to operate the machine to lift the rock

Psions/Wilders lift the rock themselves.

So, I rolled on the Tiefling table and got Oversized Limbs and Small Sized. RAW the way I'm seeing it is that I'm a Small creature who has arms so big I can wield a Large great sword, is this right? Because that's ridiculous and I love it
>>

You're two weeks too late, mate. 2hu's dropped out of the game, which doesn't look the least bit ruined.

As much as I hate to say this, but RAW also assumes you're a medium-sized Tiefling.

So I just stumbled onto the Enigma archetype for the Mesmerist. Am I right in thinking that its Solipsism effect is a no-save invisibility after the second round?

I'm thinking of using this with some 3.P sneak-attack stacking stuff to pick an important target on the field and just cut them apart while they can't see my character.
>>
>>50248711
If that's the case, doesn't choosing a Small race and rolling Small size make you a Tiny creature?

Slime-kin race, feedback appreciated. Not 100% done. Meant to be accessible as either a one-off from a backfired spell or as a full-fledged race. Limited compression was meant to be treated as a movement type (and escape artist isn't super duper powerful so meh).

Soft idea for society is living in secret communities typically only accessible through their limited compression abilities. Sorcery and Psionics aren't uncommon to them, divine casting is less common (as they don't have their own god), they tend to not like heavy armor and how it restricts their ability to bail.

Willing to take some potential suggestions on optional alternate racial traits.

So, Recently played a pathfinder game and on our 3rd session we may have destroyed the world. Tell me, how fucked are we?

Anyways, we have our party that's supposed to save the world. A human ranger with blue hair, a ratfolk theif, a Dwarf Inquisitor, a Kobold Sorcerer, a Kobold Alchemist, and a Half Kobold-half Teifling special snowflake. A great start. We hit session three, we have to kill this cultist infecting this bug race called Elizer with eldritch corruption and shit. We kill him, ratboy manages to find a rifle and blows his head off, he takes a vial of corruption and then he takes two of the Elizer's eggs. We return to the hive and exposition begins. Eventually the ratboy gets found out and the hive attempts to cut him to pieces for stealing eggs. DMPC calms the Elizer and we begin our walk out.
That's when the Sorcerer take out an enchanted and poisoned knife and stab the rat in the back and rolls a goddamn 20.
Rat boy is down and offered to the elizer, they take him and the queen proceeds to slowly and painfully tears him apart for stealing her children. We see the rat's player roll for something and he goes "Don't worry guys this will be good."
The rats last living act was to throw the bottle of corruption onto the queen of the Elizer. It shatters on her and the last thing our PC's see before running like hell out of there is the queen trying to get it off while the Elizer tear the rat apart.
The fucking queen is now infected with a strain of eldritch corruption and her entire hive will be too.

How fucked are we?

You cannot reliably control triggering attacks of opportunity; you can reliably control other means of doing damage.

DM's choice. I'm not crazy about it, but it's also my first PF game (I come from 3.5).
Scent feels like it's going to be useless most of the time though. I can see picking it up later, but I was looking for something high impact early on.

Give me a way to convince my GM to ignore the "alchemists do not qualify for arcane strike" ruling. "Extracts are literally them using magic" apparently isn't good enough. Alternatively, if I really am fucked and ABSOLUTELY MUST take that shitty spell discovery for it, what are good spells for an alchemist of around level 8-10 to poach off the wizard/sorcerer list?

I just want to deal okay damage and have riving strike, why must this game hate me?
>>
>>50249931

Ooh, I'd love to! Unfortunately I'm phoneposting, but I can say I've been in Kingmaker, Reign of Winter and a smidgeon of Jade Regent! Kingmaker was kind of boring, Reign of Winter didn't really live up to the hype, but I've got nothing but good things to say about Jade Regent, it's definitely one of the more magical adventures in the AP lineup.
>>
>>50249964
Ah, understandable I guess.

>The Pathfinder Society is a big bag of bureaucracy and regulation, not to mention the time spent working your way up the ladder. Honestly, it's better to just freelance it.

>>50250059
They can read the manual, but wizards forget the manual after they've operated it the number of times they've read it

Arcanist needs to read it once a day and can operate the machine as many times as he is able to once he's done so. (though not past spell slots)

Investigators seem neat, though to be honest, I haven't put much thought into it yet. The gesalt nature as well as the 3pp stuff is really daunting to me.
>>
>>50250105
If I might recommend, Investigator is a very good "passive" class. As such, you should go for a class on the other side that gives you a lot of active options - an intelligence based initiator, perhaps, such as a dervish defender warder.
>>
>>50250094
I have problems with choosing things like that so I tend to stick with Sorcs.
>>
>>50250105

Well, you know where to go when you've got a character concept that needs a bit of structure to the fluff!

Investigators are fantastic for gestalt, by the way. Plenty of ways to get an interesting build from one, and just as many to give that build a backstory that works.

No rush, but did you have a concept in mind for the campaign?
>>
>>50250100

The destruction sphere, in addition to damage, has many good controller options, most notable crystal blast.

The dark sphere is good for controlling.

The life sphere is good for healing.

The light sphere is a good utility sphere.

The time sphere will give you haste, but its expensive.

The war sphere is all about playing as a team: pick up the safety and revitalize rallies, and maybe battle manipulation if you don't want to invest heavily in the sphere (totems aren't very impressive unless you're in a very large group).

The warp sphere can give you considerable mobility, and can let you move allies around.

How would I go about using Psychic Armory for this? How would I go about using Overedge, Rho Aias or UBW with the Panoply? Would I need Warsoul as well? What would gestalt well with it, Mystic?

Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry anon, i haven't actually build a soulknife before, so I can't help you. I can say that any other Wis SAD class would work well with it, though, and mystic fits that (and is really powerful at baseline to boot). As does most divine casters and a few other character options.

Basically, go for War Soul if you find a passive class for the second side of your gestalt. if you have an active class for that side, you needn't bother, and it might be easier to only keep one track of "activatable abilities" list.

You could also go for Aegis - be the character that constructs both armor and weapons out of psychic power and magic.

So something else I was thinking about homebrewing is a similar system to Martial Training, but for spell casting. I don't know if there is ritual magic already (I know there is a bit, but am unsure how formalized it is as part of the system) but decided to be a faggot and add my own.

First of all these are some of the base ideas:
>divided into four main trees: Witchcraft, Druidism, Arcane, and Religious
>each branch has a requirement to start out
>Divine requires Deific Obedience
>Arcane requires Magical Aptitude
>Druidism requires Nature Magic
>Witchcraft requires having a Familiar (doesn't matter from where)
>Each level of it requires the previous (Witchcraft II requires I, IV requires III, etc.)
>They each go from I -> VII
>They each give you a number of spells stored through an item. For instance a holy symbol, spell book, familiar, or plant
>You can cast these spells as "a ritual"
>Casting a spell as a ritual increases its casting time by two steps (from a swift action -> full round action for instance)
>the steps are Swift -> Standard -> Full Round -> One Minute -> One Hour -> Four Hour -> Six Hour -> Twelve Hour -> Twenty Four Hours
>Any spell with a longer than six hour casting time defaults to 24 hours.
>Rituals normally manifest at a caster level lower than your level (level -6, minimum 1)
>Rituals change depending on certain elements, meaning you can have things to help
>These effect the casting time, caster level, DCs, etc
>For instance using two individuals bumps the CL up by 2
>Using a "implement" (could be an altar, sacred tree, witch's cauldron, etc.) can bump the CL up or reduce casting time, depending on the implement
>Metarituals are possible as well through the use of implements and expensive materials
>There are also Metaritual feats
>A character can only perform rituals for a certain amount of time per day before exhausting themselves

Sounds pretty fucking stupid, right?

Yeah this is the problem. 8 feats to cast 7th level spells taking an hour? Doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

Though people spend feats on martial training, but that's because they're combat feats. A fighter may spend his feats on this, but that's because he has a big feat budget.

The way to make it better is to ensure it gives people a way to do things they can not normally, at what isn't a prohibitory high opportunity cost.

Now here is the other idea:
>do the same thing, but instead of each feat adding new spells/max level have it increase your CL of the rituals
>instead have each feat give 2 spell levels (the first giving 3 with 0 level spells)
>meaning for four feats you can cast 6th level spells
>have anything higher than 6th require magic items to perform and not be feat based (like the implements I was talking about)

Yeah, that sounds a little better.

Though four feats to cast 6th level spells might be too good.

Friendly reminder that catfolk, as they are listed in Inner Sea Races, are by and large matriarchal; catfolk settlements are almost entirely women and children, which is due to the solitary nature of male catfolk. Whenever a male wanders into town he would typically form something of a harem, staying around long enough to impregnate as many catfolk as he can before wandering out. The children of these unions are raised by the village, and any Toms are eventually driven out by their intense wanderlust.

In this cast it would net you, for instance, deific obedience and a list of utility spells.

Actually, another idea. I could make it more like Martial Training and instead require skill ranks.

So two feats nets you 2nd level spells like augury, invisibility, and the like.

I liked deific obedience being required, but instead I may make it a requirement for the high end ones. So to get more than a certain amount takes extra feat investment.

Shirou is a soulknife.
Gilgamesh is psychic armory.

Swords as arrows is quite simply fluff. A soulbolts 'arrows' can look like anything, As can a soul knifes sword/knife thing. As can a psychic armories nonsense.

And while shirou and archer both have access to UBW, it really isn't the core of what they do (i'd say its more DM fiat than anything else). It is unfortunately not possible to replicate *all* of the elements of their kit at the same time (though I suppose maybe you could go PsyArm -> Soul arrow prestige)

Overedge/Broken Phantasms are quite simply psychic strikes.

There's a blade talent that lets you summon two knives for soulbolts.

>Mind Daggers: If a soulbolt selects the Mind Daggers blade skill, she gains the option to form her mind bolt into dagger form, dealing 1d4 points of damage, with a critical threat range of 19-20, a critical multiplier of x2, and a range increment of 30 ft. When making ranged attacks with the mind bolt in dagger form, a soulbolt adds her Strength modifier to damage rolls. When forming her mind bolt into dagger form, the soulbolt may either make a single mind bolt or a pair of mind bolts, so long as both are in dagger form. The mind bolt suffers the standard penalty for forming two items. The soulbolt may additionally use the mind bolt in dagger form to make melee attacks, but this may render some of the mind bolt's weapon special abilities non-functioning if they do not apply to melee attacks (such as the Distance special ability; see Enhanced Mind Bolt below).

>>

Incorrect. A high int Summoner with a Skill Eidolon will do you better. Have a small eidolon for every dex skill, have the character handle all the face/int skills.

Skilled is great at low levels for shit like stealth. I build a fantastic skill monkey character named The Songbird. I could post him.

>What is this about romance scores and DCs?

Jade Regent introduced "Relationship scores" that give you boons depending on how close the PC is with the NPC, and every NPC has a "Romance Score" which is the minimum needed to pursue a romantic relationship with the character.

It's kind of mean when you realize the way to increase a Relationship score involves Diplomacy and Charisma, meaning all but the most handsome of Paladins or Sorcerers will have a shot at getting in Ameiko or Shalelu's pants.

First, remember that most maneuvers can be used with most weapons with the only absolute restriction being "ranged/melee" (a lot of moves are melee-attack only for example, while solar wind is restricted to its discipline weapons instead). It's just that using the discipline weapon itself adds +2 to save DCs if you actually use a move that uses it (no change otherwise), and there's a discipline focus feat that increases bonuses and damage further with that too.

>Flails: battle poi, bladed scarf, chain spear, dire flail, double chained kama, flail, flying blade, gnome pincher, halfling rope-shot, heavy flail, kusarigama, kyoketsu shoge, meteor hammer, morningstar, nine-section whip, nunchaku, sansetsukon, scorpion whip, spiked chain, urumi, and whip.

The categories are as per fighter weapon training lists. So Flail category disciplines include:
>Black Seraph (axes, flails and polearms)
>Riven Hourglass (flails, hammers, light blades)
>Sleeping Goddess (flails, heavy blades, monk, spears, and any weapon created by one of its maneuvers OR a form-mind-blade or equivalent ability)

Additionally Weapon Group Adaptation allows you to select any one weapon group and from then on it counts as a discipline weapon for ALL your disciplines (though you're still not going to be able to use a melee-only strike with your Hotchkiss)

Actually some older buildings in canada sometimes have the issue as well even nowadays; my appartment in college five years back had the oven plugged in of course, but other than that had but a *single* outlet in the entire kitchen, and it shared a circuit with the light so turning off the ceiling light would also kill the fridge.

>>50253013
I mean, the character was brought up in a conversation about the quality of waifus. Most of the actual discussion ABOUT the character was a couple threads ago and involved background, motivations, and how to justify certain abilities over others. Until THIS VERY THREAD, they hadn't really gotten dragged into the waifuposting. That they can be boiled down to "awoo not!paladin who worships shelyn and is into family stuff" is mostly indicative of not wanting to type out (or even remember the entirety of) the whole paragraph that was that person's full pitch for the character.

And I bet many of us still remember more about the Awoo than we do about the OTHER "Not!Paladin" character.
>>
>>50253013

It was a few threads ago and it pretty much boiled down to "how do I justify font of inspiration on this character" and it did "X+Y". There was no other discussion about the character aside from what I can recall.

>When comes of age, joins a group of Shelyn knights/paladins
>After training with them for X years, is sent to Sandpoint to check out temple and to look into birthplace of mentor priest.

An idea I've been toying with is having the mentor be a well traveled priest/paladin. The character looking up to that decides to take on the sandpoint job and later the journey to jade-regen-ville. I like the idea of wanderlust being a part of the character but having that conflict with a desire to feel in place.

Still a work in progress and could be tightened up in (a lot of) places, but I like it so far.

I never wanted to be waifuposted and I now sort of regret posting this so much. I should have just made this into a old man paladin who wants to help guide the party or something. But even that would get waifu-posted,

First off, I'd keep the mother around and the father simply neglecting your character - hate is a bit too dramatic, if you want a real reason to hide in books it would be the father simply seeing you as a total disappointment. The Shelynite mentor could be a librarian that notices this, or maybe a paladin mentoring your character that started asking about home life.

Make the mentor older, possibly a woman but ideally a man for that father-substitute. He should be as you said, a well-traveled individual that pours his life story into the young woman (assuming you stay with that) and shows that the Shelynite Church is full of people like him AND her.

Honestly your character is fairly solid, anything that would be added now is padding.

I was speaking about the 1st Moroni, who was the only one referred to as Captain
Also Moroni the Latter was a possibly a Druid, considering he was really good at hiding stuff and himself in the woods, and magically burying stuff in hills.

Just one sibling? Anon, I would make it a full house. Drown that girl in brothers and sisters, so not only is she a bastard, she's *forgettable.*

It also gives her a brother or sister that might care about her, someone that provides the spark of yearning for more than just mild neglect.

I don't trust any electronic format with that knowledge. Last time I tried to type my notes on a computer, the processor clocked to -i THz and just kind of stuck there. Oh, and my harddrive was corrupted as well.

Entirely fair.

How much would you need to get in order to consider spending two feats on it?

Another idea is this:
>Prerequisite feat like deific obedience
>Feat called "Ritual Casting" opens up a certain class's spell list
>Spell list functions at level -4 normally with implements and extra individuals used to bump it up
>Learn new spells over time on a by level progression, and not by having to spend extra feats
>The progression would be something similar to when a six level caster would cast spells.

Two feats to become a "ritual caster" with access to a particular spell list seems far more reasonable.

And perhaps a druidic, arcane, and witchcraft theme'd version of deific obedience as prerequisites.

"Arcane Study", "Witchcraft" and "Druidcraft", or something along those lines.

Arcane Study would have a version for what school you're devoted to, Druidcraft what domain, and Witchcraft perhaps for certain patrons?

yeah I think this is a lot better.
>>

Because too many are used to poor GM's using any sign of a living family as a signal to kill them off or worse for cheap forced drama.

It's a self-defense mechanism.
>>
>>50253986
>Why is it so hard to convince people on here to actually have living families for their characters?
It's almost like people who run off into dangerous ruins and foreign lands probably don't/shouldn't have all that much to run back to.
>>
>>50253980
Dang, have you considered using a cypher? I though about it, but every time I try to come up with one I accidentally keep drawing the face of Alan Turing
>>
>>50253986
I personally much more like the dynamic of character with living families, but are estranged from most of them. With only regular contact with a few.

My last character was estranged from everyone in his family save for his older sister and a pair of uncles.
>>
>>50254077
At that point it's more convenient to just use pen and paper.
>>
>>50254023
You could stick to subjugating a few goblins once in a while and easily make a living off little more than a prestidigitation spell or working as a basic locksmith.

Rather, you should either have a reason to be wanting to risk your neck for all that money, OR you're a fucking headcase.

When you're sending back a few gp a week back to the family, that's sustaining a pretty decent lifestyle.

Or maybe you're just a berserking pyromaniac and burning down caves filled with evil skellingtons is the only use society can get from you.

And family is the only reason people do things ever? If you have no living relatives then your drive to live instantly flies out the window. There is no POSSIBLE way that someone could want to do something adventurers if they don't have a family, unless they're crazy?
>Or maybe you're just a berserking pyromaniac and burning down caves filled with evil skellingtons is the only use society can get from you.
Hey those skellitons can harm someone?
Maybe it's just fucking exciting and pays well. People work on oil rigs and fishing boats doing dangerous shit in bumfuck nowhere because it pays well and when they CAN take a break, they'll have loads of time to themselves.

I thought were were taking about making a cypher first to reparse the text in a safer format, then sending it over either via paper or electronics.

Electronic Cypher programs always crash though, and whenever I tried to write/draw my own cypher I end up drawing the face of Alan Turing.

Maybe I should try to see if intentionally drawing the face of Alan Turing has an opposite effect?

Also, anyone else smell ozone and salmon?

That's part of the reason why my character wound up retired in Sandpoint, anon.

He didn't *need* to be a cool-blooded killer anymore, and since that was never his passion he decided to fuck off and make cash off the thing he loves. The only reason he gets "out" of retirement is due to PLOT forcing his hand.

It's also a power thing, I imagine.

A lot of gamers are probably early to mid thirty somethings that find the idea of acting unfettered and free from the ties of family life appealing.

Strategies should be simple, the 5 brutes will try to pair up to take on the combat dudes (with the odd one out maneuvering around to either and advantageous position or being a ranged/reach support.

Caster ogre will direct the ogres to battle, and spend time buffing or controlling, and the brute with class levels will go after high priority targets.

He *is*, anon. Zyphus is the edgelord that encourages accidents and tragedy because he wants to show how life is unfair and not even the existence of legitimate divinity can change that.

>>
>>50254673
>Is there even a Lucifer figure in PF?
That's a hard and loaded question, because it HIGHLY depends on which interpretation of Lucifer you are going for

Because pending on the interpretation, Asmodeus, Zyphus, the Asura Ranas, and the Thanatopic Titans could all potentially fit the bill
>>
>>50254796

So literally Lucifer
>>
>>50254796

That's basically what I just said, anon. Zyphus encourages tragedy and accidents because if *he* suffered one than, why, EVERYONE must taste the shit hand he was dealt.

He's very much the Lucifer figure in that way; a petty bitch that fell from grace and decided to torment innocent people because he simply can't let it go.

Wasn't Ilhys the one that wanted to erase free will from the cosmos?

I always saw Asmodeus as the champion of free-will and freedom, because than they will lack the conviction or rigid moral character *not* to fall into his temptations.
>>
>>50254875
That's because the Golarion cosmology as a whole is pro freedom. The whole reason Asmodeus killed his brother was because he thought his whole plan of Free Will and the Cosmic Balance was bullshit
>>
>>50254819
He could have been so much better though.

He's not really a 'rage against the system' figure, he's just impossibly bitter.

His method of ascension is unrelated to what he does other than the 'accidents lol' thing. Which aren't accidents because he deliberately causes them like a Deific and Salty Agent 47

He's apparently good friends with Urgathoa, and that could have come about as Undeath being the method by which people are given a second chance at what they wanted to do. An artist to finish his great work, an Adventurer with sights left unseen. Even the ordinary man has potential to do great things yet unrealised.

Defiance of the natural order, telling death to fucking shove it, you've still got things to do.

I thought it Illhys wanted Free Will, Asmodeus didn't. They fought. Illhys died, and Asmodeus said "fuck it keep free will anyway, just to prove the asshole was retarded and that it was a bad idea. I'm not sentimental at all. Nope. Not one bit. Won't miss my bro in the least."
>>
>>50254834
>"God is no different than any other tyrant" type Lucifer.

See, now we're just entering Gnosticism or even parts of Zoroastrianism.

There are two gods; one rules over existence, the other rules over the spiritual. The material god, the Demiurge, is an ASSHOLE, and tries to sway people away from purging themselves of worldly obsession to become one with the spirit.
>>
>>50254918
>Wasn't Ilhys the one that wanted to erase free will from the cosmos?
No, Ilhys thought mortals should have free will where Asmodeus did not. It was a Law vs. Chaos argument up until Asmodeus killed Ilhys in The First Betrayal and invented evil.

It is unknown who was on what side and who was neutral in The Brother's War, but likely it was drawn along Law/Chaos lines. At that time Good/Evil was not nearly as much of a conflict and gods did not yet good/evil connotations. Good and Evil came later.

However at this point Qlippoth did exist and are considered ancient primal evil. Likely other beings did exist at this point. However The First was the first deific presence.

>all of this started because I said "I liked this particular character more than the others"
why tho
>>
>>50254918
You have it in reverse. Ilhys wanted Free Will, Also thought there existing the possibility to make bad choices to be stupid.

After he killed his brother, in a moment of grief and trauma he let his brother's plan happen, just so he could prove how stupid and pointless it was.

Tldr, Ilhys was Mormon God, Asmo was the Demiurge. Demiurge killed God, went crazy, gave up, and became Lucifer instead. Sarenrae is Jesus, Erastil is Wotan, Zyphus owns Hot Topic, Urgathoa is a less shitty Slaanesh, Groetus is semi-lucid Azathoth, Pharasma is Moksha, and Iomedae is a whiny child
