I want an Admech boxed set, as the Legions can use my Automata and Thallax units, and they could make a dual Master of the Forge/Magos Prime model with a bunch of options, and then have maybe 1 Krios or Triaros as the "Unique Squads" such as the Custodes or SoS.

if you are IW,IF or DA i don't see why you'd go for the autocannons.
Otherwise the only thing you are gaining is effectively +2 strength for -2 shots in a spess marine world.
The autocannons are really only going to be useful as a anti light armour support/monster hunting so if you need it as a stop gap it's a good choice.

So is Primarch fighting ever really worth it? FW ruled on FB that Scoria cannot use his autowounds vs Mortarion and so only wounds on 6s and does 1 wound rather than D3, so that's a fight to avoid, but is throwing Scoria into fights with Angron and Girlyman a good idea? I tarpit Morts with Thralls.
Every game I see the Primarchs fight and don't die until the game ends anyway, essentially wasting both massive deathstars.

For example my main legion troopers are 40k chaos marines with conversions to make them appear more iron warriors /mkiii ( I picked up heresy in 2013 well before plastic MKIII or IV and made most of my force then)

I also use some old school 40k chaos dreads as contemptors corvus and my Predators rhinos etc are 40k models with little things like combi bolter conversions. I have some 30k models such as the deredeo and cataphracti. Would you play against that or tell me to fuck off home?

The Dominus is okay, but it's hard to see the others working. Skitarii might make it into HH as a titan guard sort of thing, and once that happens you can't use them to proxy other HH units.

As long as you are using an equivalent model; Boxnaught for Boxnaught, Marine for Marine, Predator for Predator, and the weapons are WYSIWYG, I'm good with it. I just don't want to have to constantly ask what things are, or remember what is what, in order to properly play. Essentially, as long as it doesn't cost me any additional mental effort, I'm good with 40k proxies.

Im not sure what you mean by this but recon marines with sniper rifles are a decent choice to fuck up MCs from a distance and with AL you can use your mutable tactics to infiltrate them without having to drop their power armor.

Are they an amazing choice? No but they're not bad either, personally I would only take recon squads in a recon company army.

I made a squad of Chaos androids a while back for my CSM (just a plain bolter squad). Servo-skulls as heads, guns converted to long rifles (bolter magazines and cut down DE heat lance barrels with large knives as bayonets), Necron markings filed off, and some old DE spikes added here and there. Unit led by a Chaosified techpriest.

I feel like I should be able to understand the model on the left because there's one bright base color (red), a contrasting color used in small amounts (blue), and a neutral color (metallic)... and that should work but it doesn't really.

The one on the right has way too much going on, and for the wraithlord to be the same color as the techmarine's accent color was a bad idea.

I think the lesson is to only have one bright color (and not too bright), use a contrasting spot color even more sparingly than this guy did, and keep the other colors desaturated.

Anyone has an example of a mk3 with robes/tabards? I'd like to see how it looks.

Sniper vets dont need much investment but a heavy bolter and missile launcher are good options, work best in UM/IF/WS/SoH armies because of their bonus to shooting.

Weapon Mastery plus some power weapons are a great choice too, specially for legions that have bonus to close combat like NL/BA/WE, each vet has 4 attacks on the charge and thats more than enough.

Need to fuck a tank up? Machine Killers and combi-meltas are pretty fucking good especially in legions that can choose their positions via infiltrate, deep strike or outflank, RG/AL/EC/NL are all great for this.

I've been meaning to ask something similar. I'm drawing up a Decapitation Strike list and I was wondering if Mor Deythan with sniper rifles are actually any good. The snipers become twin-linked and rend on a 5+ for a turn of my choosing, and I get preferred enemy (IC's). But I suppose you could say that keeping a small shield around your ship (smaller than combat shields) to block debris would be useful. And then argue that Imperial ships are very leaky in terms of air. Sure, why not.

Also, primarchs' biology is practically magical. Let's just assume they can vary the pressure on their blood vessels to prevent the bends, and can go into a sort of hibernation that doesn't require much oxygen. If you read up on what vacuum does to humans it's not that bad anyway. You might get surface lesions from small blood vessels bursting and you'll suffocate, but you don't go pop.

Add a breathing apparatus that can range from a mere hose on the nose to direct pulmonary/cardiac injection, and your posthuman subject is good to go.

You could build a list around Recon Company ROW which requires 3 recon squads as troops. Only give them snipers, keep the power armour, build around not having any terminators and heavy support starting in reserves.

Most will be, but it's a fluffy choice. In one of the heresy novels there's a remembrancer that says that all the marines believe they're the heroes of their own legends, so I like putting bits of individual flair on my grunts to reflect that a bit.

I was actually asking about how you did the hazard stripes themselves. The rest of him looks fine but the images make it look like you putting down the black first and then adding the yellow AFTER that. I speak from experience when I tell you that this is a) a pain in the ass and b) doesn't look as good as if you'd done something like this:

Alright, got the all my bitz now, just finished washing them, gonna start building two 5 man Lernaean squads I plan to expand to 10 man later on for higher point games. You might have seen some pictures I posted a couple weeks ago where I was fucking around with adding jeweller's chain to the pauldrons, and I'm gonna go ahead with that to up the AL aesthetic.

One Powerfists/Chainfists and Plasma Blasters, the other Power Axes and Conversion Beamers.

Dun care if the Beamers are trap choices, I find them fluffy as fuck. And if I get to fire that Str10 maximum range profile just once, it wil all have been worth it. Moreso if I deepstrike them in somehow (Dynat or something) at just the right angle at just the right time to take that shot, because that seems like the most Alpha Legion thing in the world to do.

Solid tip on the masking tape. I've been trying to layer up from black to get my yellows because it's a pain painting metal on white in my experience. I think the yellow paint I'm using might be part of the problem. It's an offensively bright yellow so I've been darkening it down with small amounts of Mournfang Brown.

Most marines believed that, and it's a healthy attitude to have. The Iron Warriors aren't like most marines, nor are they particularly mentally healthy. I mean I play RTS games and maybe obsessing about K/D ratios is indeed an EC thing, but I know my soldiers aren't ever returning to the barracks, you know? And about 2/3rds of my army have the job of either serving as literal cannon fodder, trigger traps early or as a Forlorn Hope.
Now make it less a game and wage WW1 for the rest of your immortal life, that's what being a IW is like. Dammit tied with the DG and WE that's the most gruesome kind of war I kind imagine.

Well, in some accounts one of Horus' reasons for treachery was his fear of space marines being phased out like how it happened to Thunder Warriors, a fear that was exacerbated by the Chaos gods and succeeded in corrupting him.

Didn't know Duncan had done a video for hazard stripes. Cheers for that, I was winging it before. Never crossed my mind to try and rotate the models, I just tried doing the stripes by painting diagonally haha.
Had one of the chainsword, though it isn't particularly pretty. Thinking I'll just cover the teeth in blood and hope no one looks too closely at it. Shouldn't be a problem in a big metal blob though.

DG have all the termies and good characters, SoH have BS5 at close range on most weapons & decent characters, Fists teleport a lot, have good invulns, characters and BS5 on bolters, NL teleport a lot, BA are ded choppy, so are WE and EC, etc....

Asked in a previous thread, but never really got an answer.

Which of these sets of shields would you give to a Blood Angels assault squad, representing combat shields? Anyone have any better source of shields, or any suggestions? I'm kind of leaning towards the lions.

Its become a lot more active since GW directly delivers to Israel now. Before that everyone used Ebay and Amazon. It's about as expensive as it is in the EU and a decent amount of players.

I was going to make a post about how the box stuff doesn't really gel nicely with RG rules or Rites of War, but then I had a look at their entry again. Turns out you can make a pretty decent decapitation strike force with the box. Have at 'er. I wouldn't convert the BaCticals or BoPticals(?) as jump infantry, though. Just get your hands on some drop pods and you're golden.
