I recommend the Kineticists of Porphyra series for lots of new options, or DSP's Psionics Augmented: Kineticists for the Slow Burn system (Ie how to make burn tolerable or even good), and even a near-permanent Stand on top of it if you pick the archetype.

The Avant-Garde lets you do astral constructs while still being basically entirely kineticist. It's solid stuff.

The Gambler is insanely different but still a kineticist. You basically build up burn to turn it into temporary power points that you then use for infinite (but limited by action economy quite heavily) manifesting. Very good, but so, so different.

I usually go with high powered games in terms of chargen. High starting level (maybe 5-7), High point buy (anywhere from 25-32), most 3pp allowed (DSP, Spheres, anything else you wanted to run by me.) Homebrew is allowed and in some cases encouraged. I use house rules too (feat-tax reductions, trying to make guns less shit and failing)

I'm not against the idea, I just need to work things out before I could even propose something like that.

So I've had a character concept for a while and I wanted to get a take on it. This was born out of a session that failed to get off the ground with an old group of mine, but the ideas and eventual goal I think are too cool to not share.

So start with a Dragonborn like those found in 3.5 (personally I'm a bit surprised they haven't been ported to Pathfinder yet) and make an entire village/city out of them. Then take the strong, powerful leader and give him a (relatively) weak, nerdy son kind of like in HTTYD who's not nearly as interested in punching things as he is in using magic to recreate animals out of clockwork gears like some kind of technodruid.

Eventually once the quest of that session was to be underway I was planning on running him like a summoner Druid with the flavor being that the animals are actually clockwork creatures that replicate other animals he's seen in nature and worked out how they function by drawing them in his notebook.

His eventual goal was to prove his strength by recreating the Good-aligned God of all Dragons, Bahamut, out of clockwork. To do this would require a great deal of time, resources, and magic of course, but that's what he felt would bring the greatest amount of security to his people, especially since the forces of Tiamat were said to be encroaching upon their dwelling soon.

Sounds like heresy to me. Without recreating a God, you might make it a Guardian of his creations, a weapon against Tiamat.

Concept is interesting, but you need a few twists to the class (like Know (engineering)) which means that you need to create an archetype. If that doesn't bother your DM and both of you have enough time, might make for an interesting twist.

I considered it but I figured one way you could argue against DR is by saying that the cog systems are so delicate and fine-tuned that hitting one is equivalent to hitting an actual creature in terms of damage. As for healing I figured creating modified versions of the Mending spell that recreate the effects of Cure Light and such would be a good alternative when it came to healing them, while still allowing for the ability to heal normal party allies.

Oh wow, I come back from my repair and I see this little beauty of an Archetype. While I do agree with the other guy, I've never been too big on racial prerequisites unless it's based on biology like differering appendages, this is really cool! Possibly alongside replacing Wildshape and all that jazz they replace A Thousand Faces with Mirrored Appearance (Su): At 13th level, a technodruid begins to take on the aspects of metal and begins to appear like a polished metal surface. They can use this reflective surface to blend into the surrounding environment with carefully designed reflections/refraction of light.

Touch of Civilization: Starting at 3rd level, a Technodruid walking in the wilderness can make the terrain under his feet more easy to thread for others. This is a low magic campaign. We will start at 1st level with a 25 point buy for stats. Base races are allowed, but anything else will have to be approved by the DM. If you want to, I'd say to go with Discordant Crusader Zealot, w Black Seraph, Silver Crane, and Steel Serpent, gestalted with a Gambler Kineticist.
Conductive weapon to add kinetic blast to damage, then pickup Black Seraph's Wrath at level 11, it will add the result of an intimidate check to a single attack (doesn't specify melee) in profane damage. Silver Crane's level 9 strike and Steel Serpent's Sting of the Cobra are the highest single target damage strikes to go with.

Single shot is in trouble. Vital strike won't help you and Dead Shot won't help you, and the crossbow is in a bad bad place to begin with.

That said, what you need is to make it several steps into Colossal.

You're going to need an Aegis, an Akashic Catalyst, and the Armory of the Conqueror veil. at 1/3/5/7/9/11 (you'll only get to 7 with aegis here) essence invested you increase a wielded weapon by one effective size. Your crossbow begins large because of Powerful Build, and you then also enlarge yourself (again, aegis).

We've got a Large weapon boosted by your own size increases to Huge (if you go Large), which then deals damage AS IF it were Colossal III (yes, dice scaling goes past colossal)

So that Minotaur Double Crossbow (that's the one you're using) that begins at 1d8 per bolt goes 2d6(L)>3d6(H)>4d6(G)>6d6(C)>8d6(CII)>12d6(C3)

12d6 with each of the two bolts, before enchants, etc etc.

Strikes and criticals will only apply to one of the two, but things like deadly aim, point blank shot, enhancement bonus, etc all apply to each individual bolt fired (of which you fire two per attack).

Strikes are what you'll be using. You either go stalker, rubato or mystic, as those three are best suited to maximizing individual strikes. Later on you try to take God of the Hourglass, so that you strike twice in a turn.

Hey PFG, so I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on how to try and recreate a 3.5 character of mine into Pathfinder, as relatively in tact as possible.

So she was a half elf, half dragon druid. She generally used ice and earth themed spells, was a utilitarian and battlefield controller for the party. She also used various winter environment animals for their utility needs like flight, scent, and so on.

Personal biggest hurdle is my current DM isn't a fan of templates so it's not like I can slap the half dragon one on her.

Third part suggestions are welcome, but I would prefer to see if I can do it with just the normal first party materials.

A great example of this would be the person that is doing a brawler/bloodrager character.

There is an archetype in the game that tries to accomplish this, bloody knuckled brawler, but its actively far worse than a default bloodrager.

Another point would be the Shield Champion/Skirnir build that came up a few weeks ago and created a character that was basically CAPTAIN FUCKING AMERICA, once again, extremely weak to impossible in normal pathfinder

Two CR 9 monsters is a CR 10 encounter for a theoretical party, but as we all know CR is broken because its intended for shitty parties with horrid composition and very low optimization

Its hard to say whether this is balanced or not, i would need to know if this was intended to be the entire encounter of an 11th level party, because if it is, a CR -1 encounter is a joke and should be blown the fuck out by the PCs.

To compare, can a 11th level caster instantly ruin two CR 9 monsters? Yes. Yes they can.

But they can likely only do it once. Maybe twice.
