He uses this and has like an 18 Charisma so he's constantly rolling like 24 or so for these checks. So everything has to attack him. The entire game goes completely to shit. He also recently attained level 3 and can now buff his AC to 26 in most situations. You cannot pretend that is balanced when most CR 3 monsters have like +8 to hit at most.

People do not always play or consume the height of a medium's offerings. Pathfinder has both its strength and weaknesses.

As well balance is not the end all of an RPG's quality, indeed it has many other factors.

Pathfinder has nearly unparalleled mechanical variety in its character creation, and while this leads to imbalance, it also leads to enjoyment in the character creation itself. One can pick and choose from numerous portions of the system to bring to the forefront the game they wish to run. While this may be poorer than a dedicated system, it works for the most part and does not force relearning a system.

For instance just because I want to play a certain kind of game I'm not gonna force my players to learn Burning Wheel, because it is a complex system in and of itself, and with its own limitations.

In the same way nothing is perfect, sure. But there are varying degrees of balance and Pathfinder is very unbalanced and a very poorly designed game with many disparate elements that mesh badly. Another example is base attack, save DCs, and save bonuses, which are horridly balanced against each other and make no sense. At least 5e balances it all well with proficiency. It is an objectively better system; there is NO benefit to the disparate, separate, overcomplex bonuses of Pathfinder.

This is another problem -- most pathfinder players are fucking cheaters, because the game encourages you to play an OP build and to cheat because winning is the entire goal. It's not even a roleplaying game, it's like MtG, a fucking optimization contest that only a few select builds can win, and casters win by default.

A fair encounter ISN'T SUPPOSED to wipe out a party, a 50/50 chance kill for a party is CR+4 and is considered "deadly". In this case you are looking at a CR 5 enemy, which varies in strength due to the limitations of the CR system factoring in all numbers (and not particular numbers based on the party's strengths and weaknesses).

However let's just choose an enemy out of the sack.

And I said single enemy encounters, meaning one guy vs the entire party. Single big enemies are screwed over in most systems because action economy exists in a variety of systems. Essentially every D&D derivative, 40k RPGs, Eclipse Phase, L5R, and more suffer from the issue because initiative being cycles and not reactive results in this.

When the players approach to close the distance the hobgoblins switch to sword and board and the goblins step back to keep firing.

CMB, CMD, Stone Dragon, specifying that the Diamond Mind maneuvers that touch attack enemies don't count as touch attacks for PA so they function as intended, Stone Power needs to be overhauled because it's not in line with PF PA or Combat Expertise, FC bonuses, and so on... honestly the reason i don't like martials and pow by extension is that they are all day which means that they don't really work with the encounter design of 3.5 which is supposed to use up resources

Nonstop missing if advantage wasn't on the table. Several low CR enemies have AC so high that you'll hit them less than half of the time and have decent HP on top of that so they take absolutely fucking forever for martials to take down. The stupid low bonuses meant that characters who should be good at skill checks would fail them regularly due to bad luck while other characters that *didn't even fucking have a bonus* would succeed at them on a good roll. And then there's the fact that since AC scaling was off the table, monsters are now scaled by HP, so now you have monsters with 3E levels of HP in a game where you do significantly less damage than you did in 3E.

5E was a negative experience for me on almost every level. Never touching that piece of shit ever again.

Depends on the age of the dragon and the level of the character. Older dragons are fucking dangerous because anti-magic field is a big fuck you to mortals because without magic/magic items mortals are essentially helpless against dragons.

There are many spells, particularly conjurations, that because they "produced" something and it is "no longer magical" are totally okay even blasting people in an AMF. It's even decent for dominating people who had mental defense items, it'll just be suppressed after bypassing their complete lack of protection until the AMF drops, at which point bam.

Likely they'll do (if they're level 20 and fairly well optimized) somewhere in the realm of 1d8(trident)+18(strength is 34 in the atm)+18(power attack)=on average 81 damage.

Meaning to kill the Great Wyrm you need. 8 successful attacks by optimized level 20 barbarians bracing tridents.

However as the Great Wyrm can see the fact you are doing this with his MASSIVE PERCEPTION he is much more likely to instead use his breath weapon than charge directly downward at whoever he wants to kill. Or he leaves as there is essentially nothing you can do to stop him leaving.

Pretty much. It's supposed to be that monsters either have good HP or good AC so there's a counter to them somewhere, but the monsters that meet in the middle have non-negligible amounts of both. Lizardfolk, gnolls, and bugbears are annoying to hit and have the HP to take a swing from a greatsword Fighter on the nose and are all but guaranteed to come out of it alive, even to the point on average they'll survive a crit from them, if barely.

Soulknives: DC 20 Will Save to keep the soul weapon functioning. Its enhancement bonus (that it would usually get, anyways) adds to your will save for this, BUT on a pass the weapon functions only as a masterwork regular version of the weapon (emulated or not).

Aegis:
The suit is disabled in an AMF and can be dispelled by dismiss ectoplasm, but you can simply reform it next turn or as soon as you're out of the field as usual.


Just to note, SR/PR are effectively the same; either dispel works on either, and so on. *SOME* things specifically call out only-spells or only-psionics, but for the *most* part the two are entirely interchangeable.
