I'm running The Enemy Within using 2e rules with a group of Warhammer neophytes soon, and would love some input. In addition, I'll be using Winds of Chaos, Empire at War, and a GM Supplement I found on Scribd to compliment the campaign as written.

I've made the executive decision to disallow elves, so the adventurers can only be Halflings, Humans, or Dwarfs. Moreover, I executive'd a strict following of the recommended Warhammer character creation -- rolling traits as well as careers. So far, I've got three Definite Yes's and a Tentative Yes. One guy has already rolled up a character and is a Vagabond -- Literal Murder Hobo.

I am considering violating the sacred rule of random careers if two of my players choose to be a Noble and Valet and roleplay as a Warhammer World version of Jeeves and Wooster.

Beastmen update when?
>>
>>50001752
Never. :(

Admittedly, it's difficult to make them competitive without either deviating from the Fluff or doing something players aren't used to, like giving all Beastmen Vanguard or making them incredibly cheap to take in Chaos armies and make up for their shittiness.

Kangs were the first great human civilization, and have yet to be surpassed. They went north before they had any magic but meagre miracles and shit kicked chaos. Nagash invented necromancy whole cloth after successfully torturing druchii captives for information on the dhar. Later, more of their number would create vampirism, which let them have their immortality and their sex too until Nagash got assmad and ruined it to punish them. Later, Settra would directly defy the Four after being offered everything by them, breaking some of their toys in the process.

Not in the same way, but Halflings are similar in that they have absolutely no magical potential. It doesn't freak people out, well, beyond them being foul, smelly midgets anyway.

There is also a High Elf magic item called the Null Stone, which disallows magic and runic items as well as casting spells within 6" of the bearer. The quote for the item is as follows;
>>Those with the witch-sight see this as a dark void, an unsettling patch of nothingness in the world of magic.

I had one show up in some High Elf ruins in the Border Princes, and when my players brought it to a Bright Wizard that was counselling their rule, he freaked out and tried to scramble away from the stone.

>>50012916
As do I.
>>
>>50015889
Iirc, I read somewhere that the dwarfs natural magic resistance causes magic to return to it "natural" state and leak back into the warp. Not as extreme as blanks, but similar concept

>bodies being thick enough on the field to impede cavalry

You stupid asshole, if you have THAT many slaves, you probably barely brought an army, and even if you could do this, YOUR CAVALRY WOULD BE IMPEDED, TOO.

Here's the problem, though - your dinosaurs have an uncontrollable appetite, and the horses don't. This leaves the Bretonnians to chuck rocks at you, watching in confusion as you commit mass suicide, or the imperials to shell your shit and kill you even quicker, maybe take a couple of POWs for rape slaves.
>>
>>50016880

Kangs never encountered Chaos, they, like other humans, were basically cavemen huddling around fires while the world seemed to be ending around them. They fucked around for a couple thousand years before one of their own rekt them. All of their accomplishments were because of the Covenant and everything started going to shit as soon as it was broken.

>>
>>50010019
FLYING TOWERS???
>>
>>50015889
Yes and no. Nothing freaks people out like Blanks and Pariahs do in Fantasy, but there's a lot of similar things that make magic not work or are dead to the Warp. All the perks, none of the drawback basically.

Obsidian material works that way, although it can also be used as a Warp amplifier too. Like >>50015954 says.

As >>50016162 said, Dwarfs passively generate an aura which basically makes magic not function around them and their willpower can shape that aura which is how they can dispel magic without a wizard. But Dwarfs still have souls unlike Blanks, and when Dwarfs die that magic resistance dissipates with them which is why they can be raised as the undead which means the magic resistance is probably a property of their soul itself. However that works. When Dwarfs force magic into themselves, it turns them to stone which can be a benefit through their runic tattoos and magics used in moderation, but when Chaos Dwarfs do it to an extreme degree that it lets them function as wizards it kills them slowly.

>>
>>50017972
Yep. Both the Empire and High Elves have flying fortresses, although High Elves have many more. In one of the books its mentioned as something either that Elf nobility do to show off or eccentric Elf wizards do just because wizard.

Empire has them, but there's been no lore that I've ever read that actually details their use. Probably because you can't really make a model for one, and GW only wants lore that sells kits.

How united are Beastmen? Are they Always Chaotic Evil in the sense of being literally unable to work with others, or is that only when they gather in a group?

I'm putting together a Slaanesh Daemon army for T9A and using a lot of different models in addition to GW ones, and some of them are mortals marching with Daemonettes and Seekers like the cult that summoned them is going to fight alongside them. I kind of want to throw a few Gors in there, but the lore I've read is that they refuse to cooperate with humans and exist only to kill like a race of Bloodletters.
But the lore is also that Beastmen are always abandoned in the forest and gather together in groups where they hate civilization for betraying them.

A Slaaneshi cult probably wouldn't abandon any kids that are born with horns and hooves, and if I remember right Karl Franz's nephew is a Beastman who's been kept indoors like a mentally handicapped son all his life and still dresses in noble clothes instead of just smearing shit everywhere and burning things.

So assuming you had Beastman kids and didn't throw them into the forest, and were just as Chaos aligned as they're inclined to be, could you have some goatmen alongside mom, pop, and the siblings marching with some rowdy Daemonettes looking for shit to desecrate?
>>
>>50017719
The empire has 8 steamtanks and can't seem to build new ones. The tomb kings have thousands of animated constructs, easily. Steam tanks get BTFO in just about any head to head situation
>>
>>50018114
They're mostly Chaotic Evil, though will obey the will of the gods if they are ordered to march along side humans. They hate it, however, as they believe themselves to be the true children of Chaos, more deserving of favour than Men.

The thing is these alliances tend to be short lived as the Beastmen will fuck off to do their own thing as soon as they can. The 8th edition book has an example of a Beastlord allying with a Chaos Lord, who pounced on stragglers until his warherd was full and fucked off to the forests after the Chaos Lord's defeat.
>>
>>50018221
So they're fucked into Chaotic Stupid by birth, not upbringing?

I always thought it was the mutation that caused them to be cast out which then caused them to gather in herds and be assholes.
>>
>>50018005
Those floating towers aren't mentioned in any fluff but there are rules for them in the storm of magic supplement. Some wizard architect from the past named fozzrik made all sorts of weird Magicsl buildings.
>>
>>50018239
Beastmen are both born and transformed. Beastmen born to Beastwomen, who are demure and beaten housewives, tend to look down on those that are mutated but will still follow them if they prove themselves strong.

Babies born with beastlike mutations are called Gaves, those who are left in the forest to die but are instead picked up by Beastwomen.

So it's a bit of both.
>>
>>50018288
So assuming this cult of hedonists that probably practice ample incest and managed to summon a Daemon army didn't abandon their Gaves, then those Gaves could march alongside them and not flip out?
>>
>>50018338
It's certainly a possibility. If they have the right upbringing I could see it. A Gave from one of the novels killed his father and immediately broke down crying after, indicating he wanted revenge for being abandoned rather than simple bloodlust or lolevil. They have more of a chance than true Beastmen.
>>
>>50017928
Man, how much would a suit of plate for an ogre cost?

I'm sure he'd be chuffed to work for anyone with that much cash available to feed him.

He should have a gut plate over the armor though.
>>
>>50019580
One player in a campaign I played in mutated so much that he had ogre-like proportions, and when he tried to buy full plate armour he had to pay ten times the price because the blacksmith had so much more body to cover.
>>
>>50019580
Ogre Plate would be weird, you'd have to get a master craftman to compensate for their ludicrous body proportions, and manner of movement.
Then each piece would have to be custom-made to their proportions.

Alternatively, you can do what Ogres have been doing for generations, and slapping together roughly equivalent suits by grabbing big chunks of metal and roughly beating them into appropriate shapes with their clubs.
>>
>>50019938
Sure, but looking at the model, it is clearly a custom designed suit for the big guy to look just like a normal Empire suit (save size).
>>
>>50019999
Yep, it'd cost a mint.
>>
>>50018493
Awesome, thank you! That'll be really helpful for my army.

I'm not as well-versed in lore, and my job takes up a lot of time so I basically have to choose between models and movies with friends, or reading and music alone. I read here and there but I don't have time to dig through lore for stuff like this.
>>
>>50019580
Given the casualties of the Empire and the fact generally only nobility would be buried with armor, and the fact that Ogres aren't picky, a blacksmith probably just keeps a shitload of damaged pieces unfit to cover a human that he can stick together and cover an Ogre.

It'd probably have to be made unique though, since Ogres are always trying to get bigger and they may not accept a new Gutplate if they like their old one.
>>
>>50019999
>>50020014
A good Ogre is probably worth that though. You gotta pay an Ogre in food, and if they're not some shit that forgets what side he's on then he may not be willing to accept acidic rotten shit from the bottom of the pile.

I mean, think about who could pay some standard humans. How many humans is that Ogre worth in effectiveness? Is it worth it if you're already paying for one to make him last even longer?
>>
>>50018195
>can't seem to build anymore
>the empire is however able to expertly maintain the steam tanks including the engines
>but for some reason they can't build any more.
ok
>>
>>50020509
The reasoning is that you can replace this or that but when it comes to building a new one nobody can replicate it without the plans, the guy who designed it or having taken it apart which is too risky. Personally I think there are more than the original set of steamtanks, but they are less well made and aren't such a huge loss if they're destroyed. Costly, sure, but not one of the 'prime'.
>>
>>50020829
Which makes more sense. It explains why the old models look more different from the current one.
>>
Is a Rock Lobba something Savage Orcs would put together or use?
They could bully Goblins into doing it, but would they?
>>
>>50020908
Unless they're fairly lucid, probably not. Some savage orcs are so bad that they speak little to nothing aside from grunts and Waaagh!ing all the time. Most of their fighting would be out in the open and anything that requires a war machine to crack open is probably ignored after a time.
>>
>>50001752
Beast bros are p good in 9th age.
>>
>>50020509
I personally think its stupid, but there are only 8 and all of them have names. I think here should be at least a couple dozen of them, at least one in every major battle. But the point stands, the tomb kings animated constructs outnumber tanks thousands to one. There were 100 heirotitans just to watch 2 kings fight forever, and those are the rarest ones. There were enough statues to build a wall out of them around khemri, which is several times larger than altdorf

To be fair the theme of the Tomb Kings is Egypt beyond your wildest imagination, held entirely by those who built it still.

The Empire theme is "we're boned".

Plus "there are as many Elves as the plot demands" after all.

>>50023683
well, I'd imagine they could have any forest goblins and monsters available with them
squigs and giants and trolls etc
>>
>>50023683
Your WAAAGH! doesn't have to consist entirely of Savage Orcs just because the leaders and line troops are.

You could have a contingent of goblins that noticed the destruction left in the Savage Orcs' path and decided to tag along, who try their best to keep their distance while still assisting in battle. As long as they start packing up their war machines before the Orcs have run out of enemies to fight, they should be safe from rampage and can rest up while the Orcs are looting and ransacking so that they can take the sloppy seconds during night time.

That's just one of many ways to fluff it up.
>>
>>50020908
you think too simply
instead of thinking "can X take Y?" you should think "what does Y do and how would X do that?"

what does Rock Lobba do? it lobs rocks. how would Savage Orcs lob rocks? by hand, of course!
make a big, troll-sized savage orc who hurls massive rocks with his hands. maybe he's a cripple, maybe he's fat, maybe he just likes how enemies go SPLAT! that's up to you

The high elf one is called the tower of hoeth.

You also forgot dark elves, they have black arks. From the sundering before their homeland on uluthuan got recked they took some part of their cities and made them float. Its how Naggorand was founded, floated the old city down and malekith made it his capital.

Tomb kings should be BTFOing just about everyone unless horribly outnumbered
>>
>>50031802
Despite what people may think, Settra is not all powerful. He has to regularly deal with Arkhan, but can't defeat him decisively due to his command of Necromancy. He also has to deal with rogue Kings that don't accept his rule, not to mention that a vast majority of his army pale in comparison to even the basic infantry of other realms. They basically practised an ancient form of gentlemen warfare for centuries and it shows.

Tomb Kings may have a lot of soldiers, but that's about it. Most of those constructs need repair and someone to maintain them like a liche priest. They have pros, but not as much as this meme suggests.

>>
>>50031802
The Tomb Kings are still squabbling somewhat among themselves - Settra managed to create a general unity out of the chaos of their rebirth, but there are a lot of Tomb Kings that would challenge their incumbents for the lands they once ruled in life, since it's not like they have anything to lose by a war anymore. And there are a few rebellious holdouts, like Ptar, and Arkhan the Black keeps causing shit.

Not to mention, they just don't really do well outside of Nekhara, since there's not as much magic outside of it to bring them back from death if they fall in battle. And what would they want with the outside world, anyway? In their day, it was the barbaric hinterland. So Settra would rather consolidate and hold.

I'd say the three skulls, two on hips and one on belt, make it pretty Empire. Memento Mori wasn't anywhere near as omnipresent on every surface that it is in Warhammer.

>being this wrong

man, its like you don't know TK fluff at all. There are several examples of Tomb kings BTFO other armies in their homelands. In fact, most TK battles that don't involve nagash or each other are either retaliations or reconquests outside of the dead lands. Most famous example is when Settra lead his armies into the chaos wastes and utterly rekt at least a dozen chaos hordes and slaughtered countless tribes who so much as had one piece of stolen gold, all within 5 years.

Also, the very last thing mentioned in the tomb kings timeline is that settra is leading a huge crusade of conquest to eventually encompass the whole world. or at least try to. So they really are concerned with the outside world.

I know there are examples of each army beating the others, but the Tomb kings specifically were mentioned as not being good outside of Nehekara, which is false.

That chaos "victory" was a lucky hit by the chaos lord since Settra rekt his daemon horse before taking out the rider. That lord immediately died, and only 12 men actually made it back home.

they may have gone home rich as nazis, but a decade later Settra came back and absolutely BTFO them and anyone who had the misfortune of possessing that stolen treasure.

I'm curious as to how that bretonian battle actually went down, iirc they had neither cannons nor Trebs that early in their history.

One of the reasons why they changed the lores was because they became very generic and similar to each other when there were so many to design, and I think they succeeded in making them unique and interesting this way.
It's disappointing to lose something that was unique to your army, but I'd rather have this than GW's wild ride of buffing, nerfing, adding and removing completely at random.

Just learning, and my group is trying some bare bones games right now just to get the hang of it.

The sisters of twilight for wood elves (8th ed), one of them has a multi shot bow. However, bow says its strength 1. Is that legit? or was there something else that goes into that? I feel like alord shouldnt be lucky to kill maybe 2 of my skaven slaves. Is it arrows you have to buy to bring the strength up? or is it just the trade off of having multiple shots to be super fucking weak?
>>

It has Poisoned Attacks, which means it will auto-wound on 6s to hit. It's designed to be strong against monsters, war machines and other things with high toughness, not so much against hordes.

The only difference it that the guy who runs the shop had moulds made of some bases somebody else made.

It would really help if you were a bit more specific in order to get good answers. If you are not too particular about the kinds of ruins asking in WIP will likely yield better results.

Some stuff I've experimented in the past with are plastic mosaik pieces to use as tiling and casting stucco in the lid of some tupperware to smash it apart and use as rubble.

You can also get mould for diorama makers that which which you can cast your own tiles or bricks. You can also buy them.
If you break a few of those and use those together with a few coffe stirrers you should be able to get idea across pretty well too.

Don't have any pictures to share, but I think you get the idea.

Either there's a workaround, or you can contribute to the next update being better. That's part of what 1.2 was, fixing some armies that had unintended consequences as a result of balancing.

note that 1.2 is basically just a re-balancing run before tournament + sneak peak of new rules/mechanics that will be included in 2.0

there's quite a bit of stuff gone in 1.2 that makes some people suspect it's a very incomplete version that will be fixed in 2.0

Do any lorefriends here have examples of the following?
> Empire vs Bretonnia conflict / rival characters

> Bretonnia vs Dwarfs
> Bretonnia vs Orcs
> Vampires vs Orcs
>>
>>50043657
karl started off by btfoing bretonnia.
>>
>>50043657
>empire vs brets
Mostly border skirmishes between minor nobles. There was a dude who launched a crusade into the empire to avenge an insult to his ugly wife made by Based Leitdorf. The crusade presumably didn't have the lady's blessing at got BTFO by massed helblasters

>empire cs dwarfs
Dwarfs built a fortress for an elector count, then came back and destroyed it because they were shorted 2 pennies/wagons full of gold (story changes depending which side you ask)
There was also some dwarf who lead an army to kill some imperial noble because that guys great grandfather cut off his fathers hand 100 years ago

>brets vs dwarfs
The grey mountain dwarfs sided against bretonnia during the 100 year border war with the empire

>brets vs orcs
Tons of examples, most notably the unification wars and the failed crusade to exterminate greenskins

>vampires vs orcs
Orcs were responsible for destroying the Strigoi kingdom and killing Ushoran. Grimgor also fought and killed several vampire lords and has their fangs hanging from his banner
>>
>>50042726
Yeah, besides new lores and army restrictions, it just feels like a minor rebalancing. I expected more magic items, not less.
>>
>>50043857
well, apart from spells it didn't ADD anything, like at all. as I understand, a lot of stuff that people feel is missing will be added in 2.0

I expect big fluffy changes, if any, will come in 2.0 too, together with their own fluff. i mean, the devs themselves said giving Lahmias MWBD was a mistake, but didn't touch it in this update
>>
>>50043657
>Bretonnia vs. Dwarves
The Grey Mountain dwarves tend to close up the passes when the Bretonnians are at war with the Empire, since they're stronger friends with the Empire than the Brets. That's all I really know there.

>Bretonnia vs. Orcs
There are a shitton of Orcs and gobbos in the mountains, especially the Massif Orcal.

Can I have a bumbling but formal Ogre Manservant?

Can an ogre be smart enough to learn etiquette and serve as my valet? Obviously he's clumsy, bumps into shit, and often tears my formal suits, but I keep him around because he's the best goddamn bodyguard I could find.

Ogre, in his best Reikspiel: "Sir, your Aunt Brunhilde sent a messenger while you were out. She expects you at your uncle Yaxley's estate presently for Festag."

Noble: "Oh, blast. I promised the fellows at the Club... Well, set aside my red doublet would you?"

Ogre: "Indeed, sir..." Hiding exhasperation. "But do you not think the ladies will find it out of season for you to wear red in Spring?"

Noble: "Ah. Right. Well, you choose Bertram."

Bertram, the Ogre: "My pleasure, sir." Turns. Knocks over a side table and bumps into a chandelier on his way to the bedroom. He's dressed in an oversized coat, vest, and tie.
>>
>>50044952
I don't see why not. He wouldn't be very good at the valet part, but I doubt many nobles would snicker behind your back with an ogre manservant glaring at them.

Both. Greasus Goldtooth is apparently the smartest ogre around, and he's of average human intelligence.

Not only are their fingers fat, but greasy and covered in calluses. You'd be best hiring a valet to do all the prim and proper stuff and leave the ogre to smash skulls. Maybe dress him up and give him a club in the shape of a gentleman's cane, but don't take his advice on evening wear unless you like the 'greasy, shitsmelling' look.

Maybe you'd get away with that in Middenland, but who knows.

Unknown. The Old Ones showed up around 6000 years prior to the current date, or at least that's when they started fucking with the planet. Before then titanic creatures and strange, human-like beings roamed the world doing battle for eons, such as the dragons and dragon ogres. I imagine like any other planet it's at least a few billion years old.

Keep in mind that most of the major races were created wholesale or 'uplifted'. There's no telling how many years the planet's original races evolved for, namely dragons to become its top predator. There was also a humanoid race that was sorta dwarf, sorta elf, sorta human, a skeleton having features of all three races which is probably where the Old Ones got ideas for a template from.

>Roads are more treacherous and Road Wardens in short supply after the storm of chaos. Merchants, refugees, travelers and tax men are always in the market for guards, professionals (Doctors, horse keepers and wood workers to keep the caravan running especially), scouts and priests.

>Apothecaries, mages, common folk etc all have use of medicinal herbs, and gathering them can lead to dangerous, or hard to reach places. Grab a basket.

>Tax collector needs helps collecting.

>With the repelling of the Storm of Chaos, comes peace, and a need of distraction. Following the tournament circuit is a great way to see the Empire, meet people from all over the Old World, and make some money!

You could use Shadow Warriors and intentionally gimp yourself, or if you want to be more fluffy and your friends are okay with it, you could use the Wood Elves warband from the Mousillon supplement. For a more polished and balanced but less interesting warband, use Outlaws of Stirwood Forest for all your bow-wielding, tree-hugging needs.

>>Drutheira plunged her spirit down into the foundations of the tower, carrying with her the formless cloud of dark energy. She allowed herself to seep down into the rocks and tunnels on which the tower stood, breaking them free from the strata of the earth beneath. Further and further she stretched her spell, opening up massive cracks around the outer wall of the citadel, lifting the entire structure from the bedrock. Returning to her body, she stared out of the window and saw that she had cast the spell just in time.

The Sundering by Gav Thrope. A pretty poor series for Time of Legends, but there were still interesting moments.

Can you use Necromancy to resurrect something Daemonic?

In End Times (yeah, I know, just please humor me with this) they added a character who's father was a Greater Daemon and his mother was a witch. This means Daemons must have some physical presence rather than just being solid magic that dissipates when defeated.

So would it be possible to somehow kill a Daemon with their physical form not vanishing like Yoda, then bringing them back as a Zombie or a Wight or something?
>>
>>50063545
No. While daemons have bodies, that's only because of how their presence interacts with the real world. Once they die they dissolve and are sent back to the Realm of Chaos for a hundred years and a day. They also don't have souls since they're not beings like you or I, but part of the Chaos Gods which are ideas and emotions given form.

In short, no, but you could bind a daemon to a body.
>>
>>50063624
So its impossible to have a Daemon skull, blood, viscera, and so on basically then.

So Khorne doesn't get anything out of Daemon on Daemon or Khornate on Daemon warfare then?

Also, I think it was in the lore somewhere that there was Ogres who gained a taste for Daemon meat. How does that work?
>>
Need help remembering a book! Or rather, a short story. It was in an omnibus, though I cannot recall which.

The gist of the plot is that the small Empire town it's set in makes its living as wreckers, luring ships into crashing on its rocks and then killing and looting the crew. The twist this time was one of the crates on board had a troll in it and it ate them all.

One of my players fell to Stromfels and this seems likr a helpful story to reread
>>
>>50063999
Not to say that it's impossible to gain those kinds of items, but generally it's in the form of some kind of gift, either from the Dark Gods themselves or a daemon who gives you his blood in a pact. Generally a daemon goes back home and takes his stuff with him when he's defeated.

Khorne doesn't gain power from blood, merely the act of violence. The Chaos Gods are so powerful because the emotions and ideas that empower them are so basic. Khorne's strength flows from warfare in all its forms, from a simple knife fight between drunks to battlefield carnage.

You can still eat a daemon, as it doesn't instantly dissolve. It's just a matter of when.

But with all lore, you can probably find exceptions. Magic, items, etc, that allow a daemons body to stay after its death. Personally I'm not a fan of the idea of Necromancy resurrecting a daemon by virtue of it not being a person or having a soul, but you could still find a way to keep its physical body around to mess with. Not in a dirty way, I hope.
>>
>>50064058
>Not in a dirty way, I hope.
I was just thinking of slipping some skeletons with horns like the pic I posted into the ranks of my skelehorde for variation, and wanted to know if it was possible lorewise.

Can't think of a way to make an army of the undead look more intimidating than have them come to you having previously killed Daemons and added them to the shambling masses like they were no different from Empire peasants.
Like having the Romero zombies turn the Cenobites or Sadako kill Freddy Krueger, it puts them on a whole different level of "you're fucked".
>>
>>50064188
I can't see a reason why they can't resemble daemons to give that impression. A Imperial halberdier wouldn't know that you can't raise a daemon from the dead, so the illusion would certainly spook him. Dark Magic does some pretty weird stuff.

Daemons have some sort of physical presence, but it's not a real body. It's enough to make them able to hurt you, but they don't have an actual body that remains on the physical plane, which is why they're sometimes immune to mundane weapons.

It is however possible to obtain parts of their body in certain circumstances, but I doubt their body has enough physical presence to remain as a single entity after the daemon's death. Blood or some body parts might remain but not the entire body.

Possibly recovering stolen artifacts. Mordheim is the blackest of black markets, so one assumes that some folks may pay for warpstone in valuable, stolen dwarf goods.

There are random generators on the net, but they're kinda weaksauce, imo. Skaven first names are either usually a pun or an alternate spelling of an existing word. Onomatopoeia names are common too, usually based around scratchy, ratty noises. Finally, you have names associated with their clan.

Second names usually describe a feature or a behavior, not necessarily a flattering one.

So for, say, a Skryre skaven, a name like Snikzap the Whiskerless might work.
>>
>>50067446
To be fair, most Skaven names sound like sound effects or something sinister or disease - related.

If you want pun names, look at Lizardmen. Tik tok, the Mazda master, Kroak and Tetto'eko... come on man.

>>
>>50064872
The noble leading the warband is from a small hold that has been overrun that he must take back. To do that he needs money, armies are expensive after all. So he's gathered up his closest cousins, brothers, nephews(and maybe a rebellious niece), a son or two and a few friends and have made the treck to Mordheim. After all, immense wealth is just there for the taking...
>>
>>50069359
They teleport along leylines and then March the rest of the way. They've crossed short spans of the ocean by summoning magical bridges and marching across before. During storms of magic they can apparently teleport at will, since an army randomly showed up surrounding averheim during one such storm then vanished with it. Lizardmen actually do go all over the world, they're just almost never mentioned in anyone else's fluff as doing so for some reason. Same treatment tomb kings and ogres generally get as well
>>
>>50069359
>>Lizardmen
>>Primitive
Just because they don't bust out the cool toys every day, doesn't mean they're primitive. Far from it. I'd say they're the most advanced faction, their magic and science being interchangeable. They clone soldiers en mass, teleport armies and have weapons that rip orbiting debris and send them crashing down to the planet. Thing is, they never recovered from the sucker punch that was the first Chaos daemon invasion, a conflict in which MILLIONS of Saurus died fighting in. While the elves did the most effective fighting, the Lizardmen took the brunt of the conflict.
>>
>>50070970
Can every faction use teleportation to get around? If so, I suppose boats are still necessary due to being stable transportation that isn't reliant on the winds of magic.
>>50071564
Do they know how their technology functions and can create more of it? I think the fluff says that they don't know how a bunch of their machines work, just how to use it.
>>
>>50071651
>Can every faction use teleportation to get around?
Not in the same way the lizardmen can, no. And the lizardmen can only do it because they have ancient alien technology and the best mages in the setting.
>>
>>50071651
I believe they know how it works and how to maintain it, but the Lizardmen act according to a very vague plan a race of gods left behind in their hasty rush out the door. A plan laid down in magical plaques that the wisest Slann can only attempt to interpret. So when Chotec Lord of the Sun commands the Slann to bust out the Starchaser Diamond, or whatever, to throw at the approaching Skaven horde, they do so without a second thought. I imagine they just don't get a lot of opportunities to play with all these amazing toys because the plaques say not to just yet.
>>
>>50071651
No, teleportation requires a lot of effort just for individuals, to safely teleport armies requires Slaan level skill and acess to a leylines or endtimes/storm of chaos levels of magic.
