I was a orphan adopted by Lunestier groundskeeper. A teacher saw that I have strong innate magical skills. So I got accepted in the prestigious magical school.

Hopefully with my summoning magic and tactics I can basically become a general of my own magic army and I can use arcane magic to protect myself and support my army. After graduation my friends and I can go on quests to find treasures and lost knowledge and help protect peasants and kingdoms. After I become stronger, I can take over a old castle as base and start small Queendom of magical creatures summoned from the different planes. Then become a famous mercenary company and have my magic army help settle conflicts in exchange for extravagant gifts and titles.

Eventually have more titles than all those pompous spoiled students at school who wouldn't except me because I'm "poor" and "low class".

SInce Italics is around here, I would like to continue a question that I made some time ago.
I asked about in the Goddes Waifu CYOA what would happen if I choose Athena and Minerva (both and only them), since they are normally already rivals.
I belive I was anwsered that Athena might try to manipulate me more, while Minerva threats would be more direct.

However, I would like to know, how hard would it be for them to not fight much or harass me in the first place?

>What would happen if I choose Athena and Minerva.

Yes, Athena will be manipulative in keeping you via mind games. Minerva would use brute force and be direct, taking you where she wants.

>How hard would it be for them not to fight much or harass me in the first place?
Depends on the abilities you picked. Athena will give you, your alone time, and will refrain from starting things with Minerva. She'll eventually come a knocking when Minerva breaks her anger bar.

Minerva will be an argument. She'll ask you what is more important than her for you to ask her to stop harassing you, and rant on how Athena thinks she's top shit.

Anymore cyoas questions?

Does anything in the Dream transfer to real life? Or does it simply function as a sort of somnambulist video game?

When you awake normally, is that a quick save?

If I mix Jungle and Ruined as a male, will I have the ability to make females heavily pregnant? At least, differently than the normal way?

Here you go mate. Order cyoa is about a place called Granvair that has a bunch of magical mana which creates life for it. Civilizations fight for the mana in grand wars eventually shattering it into different disconnected lands.

Now you must traverse the lands, create your custom class with a bunch of different abilities, acquire a bunch of items, acquire monster summons, recruit companions, pick your antagonist, pick major lands to go to and do major quest, pick sub-quests, and if you want to do the optional expansion make your own civilization & land.

Inspired from Final Fantasy and Mana series. It's also a duel remake of New World and Quest cyoas of mine.

All those goddesses would be more or less okay with the harem, but there will be massive arguments of sharing especially from Inari.

Astrea would avoid you because doing things with a harem then doing things to her is super impure, and she's not ready for that, yet.

First: Survivalist has the line "Temperatures up to twice that can be survived for short periods" twice in a row.

Next, questions.

Can Soul Arts or Miracles be used to detect someone under the effects of level 3 stealth? How about Senses 3 or the new Sixth Sense?

If you take Alone or Undetectable perk, what happens to the companion slots? Can they be sold for Prismatic Stones through the Red Marker Seal, or do they already count as having been sold off?

What happens if I get the Ultimate Monster to fight the Lord of Woes?

Does the Aeon Scroll remove the need for a magical tutor? Does it at least replace the Magus Tome and Miracle Catalyst?

How much control did 'other' incarnates have over their incarnations? Did they get to choose their powers, or did they get assigned randomly?

So it says with every attack, not hit. Does that mean when you swing a weapon you absorb a small portion of the health of the person you intended to hit? If not, then the closest person near to where you swung the weapon? What if you use it against something that it wouldn't damage? Would it essentially be able to kill them if they had armor that protected them from everything (excluding vampiric draining, obviously)?
>>
>>49898474
Imo, reduce the power of the Herald by 5 points. It just /feels/ approrpriate to me that it should be, truly, easily inferior to even Lesser Incarnates (The Lovers) but still a dominating force compared to Mages and other such things.

Too powerful m8.

>>49898782
>Can Soul Arts or Miracles be used to detect someone under the effects of level 3 stealth?

No.

>How about Senses 3 or the new Sixth Sense?

Senses 3 no, Sixth Sense yes but only faintly.

>If you take Alone or Undetectable perk, what happens to the companion slots?

They disappear for Alone and Companion selection will be delayed or Unknown for when you finally leave Earth.

>Can they be sold for Prismatic Stones through the Red Marker Seal, or do they already count as having been sold off?

They count as being sold off.

>What happens if I get the Ultimate Monster to fight the Lord of Woes?

Wew lad you might want to get out of that universe.

>Does the Aeon Scroll remove the need for a magical tutor?

Yes.

>Does it at least replace the Magus Tome and Miracle Catalyst?

Yes.

>How much control did 'other' incarnates have over their incarnations?

Slightly less than you did. About 80% wont get Spirit Gifts and some will have a few powers randomly activatedm limiting their selection.

>>>49898785
Thought it would be funny.

>>49898859
You have to hit and do some damage to the person. The amount of health you absorb is related to the amound of damage you deal.

>>>49898870
Maybe. It might be useless with such a large reduction. A Herald would already be sorely out matched in most fights even at the start. They do have like 13 to 15 less power points than you do by default.

>Maybe. It might be useless with such a large reduction. A Herald would already be sorely out matched in most fights even at the start. They do have like 13 to 15 less power points than you do by default.

Anyway, does The Lord Of Woes count as Evil for the purposes of the Bloodstone & Scythe?

You can give one minor magical ability to any race you create.

For example, any tier 1 power on the Powers list. Immortality, hive mind, and other more creative shit like that.

You only have a limit of one magical ability though, making a Nid race to fight the LoW may not work.
>>
>>49899077
>For example, any tier 1 power on the Powers list. Immortality, hive mind, and other more creative shit like that.

A being that connects to other creatures I create and then takes data from their deaths. It then imprints the way other creatures died into creatures I make--similar to how Orks get their Mekboys, Painboy, etc expertise--, and how to avoid those deaths.

Daemonicus [Y/N]?

Not necessarily. It's just that, you never know what the future may hold. Plus, this thing gets more and more powerful as the army increases in size. The entire army would immediately know what changes occur in enemy combat ability/etc.
>>
>>49899177

You need to clarify exactly how it "connects" though. Without details you can't get any answers.
>>
>>49899222

Kind of a passive-hive mind? It only collects data and crunches it. Then it returns an output of what not to do for next time into the created being's foundational essence, kind of.

>>
>>49899289
If it experiences a critical hard-ware failure, it just releases all of its data into my head. I'd have Mentality 1 for that. Failing that, it gets distributed to the rest of the army. Then I'd start again.

>>
>>49899164
Also noticed that Power Gauntlet states that it gives you level 3 Strength and Durability, but those were (i'm assuming) replaced with Muscle Mass and Toughness. Might want to fix that?

Also, how powerful can your Perk-weapon be? Can we pick mythological weapons and then scale them to our level, or do they just start off as an ordinary whatever, and we have to enchant them? (For example, could I get Laevateinn, or would I just get a normal sword that I have to light on fire?)

What? Mages can destroy the fabric of the universes, so much so The Father of the Beasts job is to essentially kill mages who get that far. Maybe average Mages are pretty weak but I imagine a high-class Mage would be on-par with an Incarnate, if not an Demiurge.

>>49898474
Welp, got a new long term of goal.
>Obtain Scythe of Sin
>Kill The Ultimate Monstrosity

Of course it won't be that simple but it seems like that would be the one object in the universe capable of killing it.
>>
>>49899415
>Mage would be on-par with an Incarnate, if not an Demiurge.

It says that powerful mages are able to destroyer planets. And that Incarnate magic is yet more potent. Thus, an Incarnate with all the same spells as any given mage is more powerful, by far. A Demiurge is incomparable.

>>

>>
>>49899462
1. Occultism gives you the ability to cast magic, you still need a teacher, and presumably a magic focus. Not to mention many builds I've seen neglect it.

2. It takes time to learn.
>>
>>49899480
It's cool.

>>49899485

Not if you take the Aeon and use its gift. Plus, that's true for every mage that doesn't have access to the book.

I agree, but don't forget: you need to land at least ONE blow .Again, the hit needs to LAND. Sure, its presence might instantly slay the more villainous Incarnates that don't have many kills, but still. You need to LAND. >The Other
>Wealth, Fame, Authority, Resonance, Legion
>Gem of the Dreamer (Astral Projection 2, Speed 1); Melee Weapon, Conventional (Light); Ranged Weapon, ballistic (Light); Armor (Light); Armor (Energy Shields); Upgraded Blue Box Armoire; Rodin Watch; Vergil's Amulet; Magus Tome; Aestus “bottled fire” Flask; Entertainment Suite; King’s Road Writ; Beast (Titan Beast) (Behemoth - Healing Factor); Magus Hood; Fancy Hat; Gravity Gun; Explosives (Thrown); Magus Catalyst; Royal Mushroom; Servitor (Bound Devil)
>Lucius Greene, ???, ???; Agares, Champion of the Asylum of Ash, Hell – 999; Mammon, Lord of Plots, Void Space; Abigail Flavian, Demoness with a heart of gold, Hell - 09; Battle Bruva Borgut, Shoota Boy, Orkhanum
>Xurel O: Big Bug Hunt (Broods Blessing); SCP Prime Weapons Facility: Teeth for Coins (All my friends are monsters); Fall of Aeian: The White City of the Eldrid (Ring of Morthis)

I'm thinking this guy as a Cult of Personality kind of guy with strong magic and semi-strong physical capabilities when the going gets rough. Siding with the Other because of the gem and power.

Mostly bacause primate children are needed to learn much in their early years in order to become selfsufficient. A trait we still carry. For exaple learning new languages gets harder the older you get.
Additionally many things in human society are either taken for granted once you've eached a certain familiarity with them and and others, mostly in regards to social interactions, are just hard to explain and better to experience.
Overall, if you manage to pique the interest of a child, usually it'll understand even complex things when explained step by step.

Love the expansion and wanted to provide some feedback/suggestions.

Feedback

New powers love them all (especially sixth sense) except awakened simply because it is not needed. The only one I ever saw it work in was traveler and only because there was an in multiverse reason for its existence (which mainly exists to hand wave all the fictional universes being real).

Love the new devil companions they really add a better feel for the gift and are simply better than they were.

New patrons are all excellent additions and fit well. I am especially tempted by the Aeon for a spirit star build.

New quests coming along nicely.

MAJOR additions to perks and they are all great however it may have altered spirit gift balance IMO. Namely the world and sun & moon getting extra undifferentiated perk points puts them higher than they were (they may have needed a boost anyway). The biggest addition is Ascendancy IMO and this especially benefits the world gift. Taking Ascendancy on all three wise men would be huge.

Suggestions

Little tweek to the fool could be an option to take a set amount of extra points OR role for them. I have seen it come up several times and I feel it could be a good compromise say 3 points OR 1d6 points. Rolling has a greater expected return but more risk.

New Companion Request

Tony Stark. He has everything, he is bro tier, builds weapons, is combat viable, rich, a hunk, etc.

Quest Reward.

I notice you are beginning to add quests for the patrons and gifts. For the AI quest I was thinking we could get a new power called "predictive algorithms" or some such which would allow us to with great accuracy predict events. To keep it from being OP it could only work in conjunction with our other powers. So to use it to predict enemy attacks we would need scanner, to predict a bullet ricochet we might need balance, and for more esoteric things (toppling a government) we might need mentality or tutorship/master (politics).

Exchange Program storytime on its way!

Year 3: The Grand Summit - Research Proposal
"Developments in Long-Range Communications through the use of Arithmantic Stabilization Techniques, by Jean-Pierre Vernier of Odesium and Eldaah of Jah'Kara Tel"

Transfer Student storytime on its way!

Year 4: The Grand Summit - Research Proposal
"The Eldaah-Jiel-Vernier Process: Improving the power efficiency of magic crystallization through the application of precision arithmantic calculation, by Eldaah, Jiel, and Jean-Pierre Vernier of Odesium"

Year 5: The Great Tournament - The Great Hunt
Jean-Pierre and Jiel will each fly half the party in specially-constructed airships, designed for maneuverability and stealth over speed. Aerial combat will be the order of the day, until such a time as melee combat is required for the final takedown, at which point Jean-Pierre will land with Bathsheba and Znanje and engage the enemy with Mage Armors, Arcane Magic, and brute strength. Malyvyn will direct the combatants, with support from Eldaah.

The Harvest Festival - Fund Raising
In the wake of two successful research proposals, Jean-Pierre and the others have decided to start a corporation to commercialize their inventions. However, it takes money to make money, and they are in need of more in order to file all the paperwork to get the appropriate licenses for the business.

The Grand Summit - Research Proposal
"The Desert Angel: An extreme-range airship, well-suited for scouting, exploration, and high-value cargo transport through lands lacking traditional support infrastructure. Vernier Znanje & Co., Ltd."

I was referring to Density Control but you are right Occultist is fantastic and should be in more builds. I mean you get TELEKINESIS right out of the box with more power to be learned.

Year 2, Semester 1: Exchange Program
>Despite choosing Odesium over Jah'Kara Tel, he was always intrigued by the arithmeticians and their work. When the opportunity arose to participate in the exchange program, he took it with both hands. He was so excited to be there that on his first day of classes, he was rushing about in his room so noisily that he awoke the dread Sunrise Demon of the Desert. "How could you be sleepy at a time like this! Ah! The secrets formulas and equations of the universe are at our very fingertips! Such a glory to behold!"

>His excited babble overran her attempts to chide him for his noisiness, and eventually drew her into conversation as they left for class. This set a pattern for their time together at Jah'Kara Tel, as his excitement at unlocking the arithmetician's secrets further stoked her passion for the topic. They devoted countless evenings to furthering their studies together, and frequently spent their free time chatting and relaxing, throwing odd thought experiments and trivia at each other until curfew.

>Alas, all good things come to an end, and thus did it come time for Jean-Pierre to return to Odesium. He felt greatly conflicted; he knew it was time to go back, but he could not put out of his mind all of the time he spent with Eldaah, and how much he would miss her. During his last week at Jah'Kara Tel, he was rarely seen outside of classes, and Eldaah became snappish and irritable with the slightest provocation. Finally, she decided to confront him; she would not let his odd behavior ruin what little time they had left together. She barged into his dorm room, and found it a disaster area; tomes, blueprints, trinkets, tools, and gadgets were strewn about the room, Jean-Pierre working furiously in one of the few clear spaces.

Well, good luck with that when I have my Amulet of the Golden Magus.

>>49901763
>"Ah, you're here, you're here! The prototype is ready for testing! Put it on! Put it on!" He shoved a pair of copper earrings and a copper necklace into her hands. "I just realized how soon it would be before I left this week- I wasn't ready- not enough time! I had to do something, anything! I wasn't ready to leave, wasn't ready to say goodbye! So now I don't have to!

>"Using Haradhrod's Spell of Far-Speaking as the basis, I was able to use Al-Khwarizmi's stabilization matrices and the Gerard range equations to enhance the spell's distance and duration effects to reach from Odesium to Jah'Kara Tel. Of course, it needed a runic array to serve as the targeting system, so I've etched that onto this set of jewelry! This way, we'll be able to keep talking with each other! It'll just need a good magic charge for every..." He shuffles through a pile of diagrams nearby, "78 minutes of usage? Oh well, I'll just have too keep working on it! It's only a prototype, after all!"

>Eldaah blushes, puts on the necklace and earrings, then gives Jean-Pierre a good chop to the top of the head and a firm glare. "Why couldn't you tell me what you were doing! You just started disappearing after classes without a word, Jean! Hmph, but that's your punishment, since it was for me..." She blushes deeper, and glances away briefly. "Anyway, since it's done, we ought to make sure it works!"

>The next day, as Jean-Pierre prepares to board the airship to return to Odesium, Eldaah stops him. She blushes furiously, then grabs him suddenly in a fierce hug. She whispers to him, "Come back as soon as you can. I want to see you again." Then she lets go, running back to the crowd watching from a safer distance.

>He grins widely and shouts back, waving, "I will! As soon as I can, I'll be taking my own airship on its maiden flight, and a trip here sounds like the perfect test!"

Year 3, Winter: Heading out to the Grand Summit
>Malyvyn yawned tiredly as he looked at Jean-Pierre frantically scurrying about his newly-completed airship. Bathsheba and Znanje's Mage Armors were finishing the final loading. "Jean, come on. What's the rush? It'll take you almost a week to get there as it is, why are you tiring yourself out now? Just sit back for a few minutes and calm yourself down."

>"Calm down, he says, calm down! I can't calm down, I've got so much energy I could nearly burst! Ah! It'll be wonderful, Malyvyn! Eldaah and I are sure to wow the scholars present. It's so unfortunate that Arithmeticians are only found in Jah'Kara Tel, we could be advancing the world so much more quickly by integrating their skills into more commonly known fields of resear-" He's dragged from his precarious position aboard one of the port stabilizers by Bathsheba's hand on his collar. "Ack! Znanje! Help! Make her stop!"

>Znanje did not, in fact, make her stop, as she'd collapsed into a helpless fit of giggles at the sight of Jean-Pierre being hauled about by the collar like a rascally schoolboy. Bathsheba drags him over to where Malyvyn is sitting, drops him to the ground, and says, "Sit." At his attempt to stand again instead, she puts her hands on his shoulders and says, "Sit. Stay."

>Jean-Pierre blushes brightly, and pouts at her. "I'm not a dog, Bathsheba. Znanje, tell her I'm not a dog!" Only giggles can be heard in response. He pouts harder as Bathsheba sits down between himself and Malyvyn. "Jiel would back me up on this you traitors," he harrumphed. "It's just my luck that he's already out on his shakedown cruise..."

>>
>>49901762
I often take both because of the enchantment possibilities. A sword enchanted with density control could go through any mundane armor for example.
>>
>>49901777
>Znanje plopped herself down on his other side, letting out a short yawn herself. "You've got enough energy for any three people, Jean, but when you work yourself up so much you get sloppy. Settle down and look it over again later. None of us want you forgetting something important because you were too scatterbrained to remember. Your girlfriend wouldn't be happy if we let anything happen to you, after all." She cackled and ran off back to her Mage Armors as Jean-Pierre tried to chase after her, receiving another collar-grab from Bathsheba for his troubles.

Year 3, Winter: A Certain Transfer Student
>Jean-Pierre was nearly dancing on clouds without the aid of magic or his airship as he readied it for his return to Odesium. "I knew they would recognize our genius! With such an amount of funding, there will be so many more ways for us to advance our research! Ah, Eldaah! It was such a wonder to see you again-" A cough broke his concentration, and he looked up to see the hulking form of Professor Warryn in the entrance to the hangar. "Ah, Professor Warryn! What can this humble student do to assist you this fine day?"

>"Well, boy, it seems that Odesium is picking up a transfer student for this coming semester, and the only airship returning with spare room for a passenger is yours. They'll be here within the hour, so make sure you've got your gear stowed away- properly this time, I don't want to see anyone injured because you forgot to secure your tools and decided to do a barrel roll on a lark..." His grumbling invective continued as he stomped away.

>Jean-Pierre blinked at the departing Professor for a few moments, then burst into a flurry of activity to clear the co-pilot's chair for his surprise passenger. As he worked, his curiousity continued to grow, until he was nearly buzzing with the need to KNOW. He'd just finished moving the last crate of supplies into the cargo space when he heard footsteps approaching. He glanced out the windshield to see Eldaah walking up to the airship. He popped out of the hatch, jumping to the ground rather than wasting time with the short ladder. "Eldaah! You've come to see me off! Excellent, I was hoping to see you again before I had to leave, apparently I'm to be taking a transfer student to Odesium-"

1/2
>>
>>49901800
>He was cut off by Eldaah wrapping him up in a fierce hug. His eyebrows popped up in surprise, but he returned the hug with gusto. Soon, she released the hug, but kept her arms on his shoulders. She grinned at him, eyes sparkling, "It's me! I'm the transfer student you're waiting for!"

>He stared at her, shocked, as a grin spread across his face. "You?" She nodded. "You!" He seized her in another hug, spinning her about. "I- I-" he stammered at her, words coming too quickly to make it out of his mouth. She smiled wider. He spun her around again, then set her down and looked into her eyes. No more words came to him, and he was gripped by a most dangerous whimsy. He grasped her cheeks gently, and leaned in to kiss her. She stiffened in surprise, but quickly relaxed, grabbing his head from behind and deepening the kiss.

>A cough interrupted them, and they jumped apart and blushed heavily as they saw Professor Warryn standing in the doorway once more. "I see she's found her own way here, boy. Takeoff is in fifteen minutes, and I expect you to stay in formation with the rest of the fleet. And no more crazy maneuvers! I don't care if they would impress your ladyfriend here, you do anything like that again and you'll be grounded for 3 months once we get back to Odesium!"

You know I have enjoyed Hero Academy but I never understood why it was so popular compared to other cyoas. I mean it is a great cyoa but the amount of builds and discussion it has got comparatively is huge.
>>
>>49901883
Who says it has to be anti-magic though. It could be a deflective magic enchantment at work. If there is such a thing as antimagic though the AI will be the one to figure it out.
>>
>>49901930
My guess is that it has to do with it having enough options to make a lot of distinct ideas, without having so many that it turns into something on the scale of Stardust or Traveller's Tale.

Combine that with the depth of lore Box Wine managed to sneak into all the option descriptions, and I consider it an excellent example of how to do a mid-large CYOA well.
>>
>>49898474
>>49901534
I have a build idea kicking around in my head. A Tower Incarnate driven so mad by memories from the Universal War that he is committed to ensuring brothers never fight against brothers; that Demiurges never fight against Demiurges again. For all Demiurges are siblings from their creator God.

The mistakes of the last Universal War will likely repeat themselves in his mind. Even now, patrons prepare for another multiversal conflict.

So he decides to take matters into his own hands, and create a conflict larger than the Universal War. Something so fierce and devastating that every Demiurge - and all within reality - are forced to unite in arms. A war to end all wars. A war against the Lord of Woes.

Much of reality will burn. But in the ashes, they will stand hardened by the fires of war. Bonds of steel forged in the flames. Together, the Demiurges can repair reality. To restore the Age of Prosperity and even surpass it.
>>
>>49901939

No, I mean anti magic exists in general. About the deflective magic, are you talking about the amulet?

Well, I didn't really mean to imply that it was some super deep thing that requires a magnifying glass and a degree in detective work or something to understand, it's just that if you read carefully, there's a lot of little nuggets of info about the world to find.

All too many CYOAs are guilty of skipping out on showing the setting in order to get to the options, in my opinion.

"Aliums invaded, get in tha powah armah!" is a clear and present danger, but not really something that answers any questions about what's going on.
>>
>>49902025

It's magic that dispels/disables magic. It's anti magic. Like being able to shoot lighting out of your hands is elemental magic. Or casting spells using blood rather than mana or whatever is blood magic.
>>
>>49902015
That is kinda what I mean. There is some lore but people obsessed about every tiny detail like Lunestier having more nobles than St. Flares and people RPing disdain. I am pretty sure most Lunestier builds (including myself) simply wanted the fantastic synergy of magic refinement with arcane magic.
>>
>>49901930
It has the possibility to make diverse builds. The same build but with a different school will be different.
Also it had the possibility for roleplaying since we start off at the same level.
I liked that you had to go to classes to learn stuff, instead of getting the powers. It's effectively the same, but it makes me feel like we're making a new life, not a character.
>>
>>49902064

>Aliums invaded

Actually, I think that explains EXACTLY what's going on.
>>
>>49902084
I suppose I misspoke there a bit, should have put "Why things are going on" rather than "What".

There's no motivations beyond "ebil aliums"
>>
>>49902065
Ah a simple definition misunderstanding then. I was thinking like a true opposing force to magic that negated it like matter and anti-matter. I would say what you are talking about is simply defensive magic and would be covered with the occult power (another reason to take it even if it is not your focus). It should mention that defense is a possible use though.

>>49902052

>>
>>49902137
I think the answer for now is occultism allows us to learn magic including magic that works against magic. I am frustrated as well that currently the only counter to magic is more magic or a single quest reward that requires taking the worst patron and pissing off the (arguably) most powerful patron. I want a mage killer but as of now they simply grab me out of the air with telekinesis and rip my heart out unless I know some ward spells (which means taking occult and a tutor).

>>
>>49902135
Well, I'm only one person but I made three builds. My favorite part of Hero Academy and Quiet was that picking a different school/world presents a different settings with different requirements and you have to adapt.
You're right, I can't really put words in it. I just see the possibility for fluff.
>>
>>49902127
No, I'm just a curious guy. I like to know why something is happening, not just what.
>>
>>49902193
Very much my own opinions here. Dark One is a bad choice because he is literally an idiot who wants to become God. Perhaps I should of said least appealing to me. CK is arguably the most powerful because the republic has the best balance of resources, man power, and skill. The republic has made the most ground in a multiversal sense at least (most others have only one universe they dominate).
>>

>>
>>49902249
Okay I'll shut up and go read it all, but you make multiple "we're/were" mistakes. There are two in the first Origin option.

>>
>>49902209
I enjoyed the choice of school too. It was THE decision and everything else was around it. But like I said there are others that have had choices like that and they have not done so well as HA. The x factor that makes it popular is very important.
>>
>>49902276

I guess if you're really into RPing or something, but personally I picked all the skills from the 1st page, and I only switched from Uzuza to another school because I couldn't take the companions I wanted from the 3rd page because of my school.
>>
>>49902267
That can be said for all of the really organized factions. FOB,Lord of Woes, ultimate abomination, Aeon, and Other are too elemental/force of nature to be organized. That leaves AI, Dark One, Primes, and CK for an organized rulership of the multiverse. All of these ones can be disabled by killing the leaders (yes primes come back but they will have essentially lost). "Most powerful" is extremely subjective and I would like to say I mean at the moment not potentially. Day one as an incarnate I would least like to be on the bad side of CK. Long term I might say Other though.
>>
>>49902325
I felt the school skills where the most important/powerful. My selection of school was mostly based on that. So I usually picked Lunestiar or Ej Har for their skills.
>>
>>49902341

Best would be to just put yourself in a position of strength, the kind that make others not want to mess with you, not the other way around. Just focus on killing the other incarnates as efficiently as you can. Or don't, if you don't really wanna do anything with it, because if you fall behind you're likely to stay behind.
>>
>>49902364
Definitely. The quest is worth while it just is not fun to take a patron I don't like and piss off a multiversal republic composed of incarnates.
>>
>>49902357

Felt kinda restricted to me, personally. I took both of the drawbacks which gave me 4 points, and since I only picked from the 1st page I actually needed 1 more to get what I wanted. Admittedly, there are some skills I suppose I would consider a bonus, like something useful but not totally necessary. Still, feels like I need 15 points to get what I want. Like, the bare minimum. Kind of like any superhero who wants to stay relevant needs to have peak or (slightly) above peak human strength, speed, durability, the works. Otherwise, what the fuck are you gonna do? It's not like you're the fucking Punisher.
>>
>>49902391

Thing is, if you do manage to do the quest and get the amulet, magic can do fuck all against you. And if you have density control, then defense wise you're set. Still, it's a fucking amulet, not something fused to your souls or some shit, but there's probably a way to make it so anyway. Then magic can suck your dick.
>>
>>49902400
I wanted more points too.

>Kind of like any superhero who wants to stay relevant needs to have peak or (slightly) above peak human strength, speed, durability, the works.

That's a big problem in a lot of CYOAs. A certain baseline is needed to stay competitive and it eats up a ton of points. UW is absolutely horrible that way, which is what a bunch of these convos are about.
>>
>>49891512
>You can still get your cyoa fix on 9gag, reddit or any number of niche RP forums, even the one Acheld came from.
Where did Acheld come from? I'd like to contact him before I start working on a forked Altering History update.
>>
>>49902431
Yes and currently it is the only way to be fully set on defense. I really want magic to "suck my dick" but I don't want to be with the dark one.
>>
>>49902433

Yeah, the baseline is just regular Human, and if someone has something like muscle mass you something like toughness or regeneration to counter it. Hell, even muscle mass 1 does more damage faster than regen 1 can work and it can go straight through toughness 1 anyway. Bend steel? That's a lethal injury. Skin equivalent to stone? Shrug off melee attacks? Muscle mass 1 says hi.

I don't think it's about "being with" the dark one or some shit. He's just useful. He's not a fighter, and a coward on top of that. He sure seems like an extremely small fish in a multiverse large ocean. Maybe that's kind of the point.
>>
>>49902484
The baseline is incarnates. We need to be competitive with beings that on average have 30 points of options from their power list. So if we don't take the right options and a guy with speed 3, and muscle mass 3 (or something else) comes along we are screwed. Coming up with a guy that has a chance against 99 of these is very tricky and uses up most points.
>>
>>49902511
Ok taking him as a patron. You might be right. Part of why I don't like it is he sucks otherwise. If the CK had this as a reward I might not be as upset about switching.
>>
>>49902528

Yeah, I suppose. But I'm guessing since you've got a spirit gift, depending on what it is it will give you a definite advantage, no matter how small. What about their own companions? Are they the same? It's no fun trying to discuss stuff like this without enough details to accurately assume something.
>>
>>49902511
The Dark One has been playing the great game the longest. Hes ran circles around the Primes in the past and is attempting to do the same with the CK right now.

I wouldnt underestimate him. Hes in for the long con and hes very clever.

>>49902433

We understand but there is only about 10 points of build variety as a result. Not necessarily bad but it can put a damper on a build idea.

The problems with option 2 is, you can't make your own choices in real life that you can in a cyoa. I mean, I can't choose to be omnipotent. Or have superhuman speed, or invisibility, or whatever. Choosing stuff in real life means putting in effort. Not so much with these CYOAs. And while imagining what it would be like to have these powers and whatnot is pointless, since we'll probably never have them in real life, it's fun to do to distract ourselves from the terrible existence we live in. If you disagree that it is a terrible existence, the existence and popularity of CYOAs has already proven you incorrect.

It has already been figured out in large part. He was God's first creation the blind idiot who God taught a bunch of lessons to but being an idiot did not get them. One dead God and a bunch of time to get crafty later and the Dark one is a master manipulator set on claiming the empty throne of God and taking his power.
>>
>>49902626

Why would God make his first creation a blind idiot?
>>
>>49902636
He isnt literally blind and hes called the idiot because he failed to learn the lessons.

He could have been called the ignorant slave or deaf fool as well.
>>
>>49902623
I understand it is simply the nature of the beast. If we got more points they would get more points. We have about as high of an advantage as we can get without crossing over into truly unfair territory (for them that is). However the power set itself is a bit unforgiving of taking or not taking certain powers.
>>
>>49902636
Because God liked being God and making something ungodlike was funny to him.
>>
>>49902652
Again, im not sure what I can do besides just combining all the physical powers into a single power and calling it a day.
>>
>>49902647

But was he actually stupid? Did God make him like that on purpose? Do you expect a horse to be able to tap dance just because you think he should be?
>>
>>49902664
He was stupid, he still kinda is. He never learned the lessons God taught him.

God gave him free will. He didnt control him past the intial creation. The idiot formed by himself.

Hes not stupid in the way you think, in fact hes very wise and smart. He just never understood the deeper meanings past what God said, he took it too literally.
>>
>>49902680

I was talking more like if he actually able to understand the deeper meanings of what God said. You know? Kinda like how the Old Ones are supposed to drive mere mortals mad because they don't understand them? I don't quite remember if that was the case. Like you're making fun of a goldfish for not being able to speak English even though it can't under the current circumstances. I mean, if you made it smarter, maybe taught it English.

I suppose some beings never learn.
>>
>>49902660
It is not only the physical powers. The discussion above was about magic and occultism.

As for what you should do about it I would say look at the power set and look at every offensive possibility and then look for its counter. This is where the issues exist. Many powers might be useless because they have a cheap hard counter (plague 3 v immunity 1), they might have a soft counter that is perhaps too soft (toughness 3 v strength 3), or there may be no counter at all (occultism/energy attack v anything).
>>
>>49902718
The counter to occultism is occultism, which is what some of us wanting to make physical builds were upset about.
>>
>>49902718

Density control counters occultist/energy attack
>>
>>49902718
You just come across like you're picky for its own sake.
>>
>>49902718

Muscle mass 3/toughness 3 seem pretty equal though
>>
>>49902711
He is capable of it. Even average Humans are capable of it. His most important lessons were relatively simple. Its more cognitive dissonance.
>>
>>49902744
If you are caught off guard and someone attacks you at the speed of light that's pretty hard to deal with. And density control protects from physical damage not necessarily energy damage. Occultism as discussed beats Density control.
>>
>>49902756

He doesn't sound very clever.
>>
>>49902770
Its more complex than that.
>>
>>49902747
I enjoy the CYOA and am fine with it as is. I simply wanted to break down what a bunch of the arguments have been fundamentally about.
>>
>>49902768

The author mentioned it protects against everything except for maybe a few magical attacks. How exactly does occultist beat density control?
>>
>>49902783
The complexity to me is that God could be wrong*

God created something unlike himself that would not share his viewpoints or understanding. But who are we to say that the Dark Ones understanding is worthless?
>>
>>49902783

For him.
>>
>>49902795
occultist is the way to get those magic attacks.

I'm just saying, it's not like anybody using density control would go through all that trouble just to get wrecked by a magic missile. Chances are they have a variety of physical powers and aren't just gonna stand there while you wave your wand around chucking magic missiles at them. And considering they can become intangible just like that you've got a very narrow selection of attack options.

Lord of Woes is a 11
Dark One is ? but probably a 11

Ultimate Monster is a 12 maybe 13

Eh, not really. LoW, UM, The Other, and Dark One arent really good guys.

>So why are the Demiurges a thing?

They oversee each world, each universe. Just because one or two creatures can kill a Demiurge doesnt mean they would just rule the multiverse. You had many Aeons, Primes, and Demiurges all working together in the far past. They would have smashed anything that stood against them.

>>49903223
>I thought demiurges were supposed to rule dimensions or whatever.

They do.

Many of these beings rose up in the absence of the Demiurges. Without order being kept The Other, FoB, UM, LoW, and the A.I. all crept in the power vacuum.

Way more powerful is the wrong way to describe it. They are more powerful but its not like they can kill a dozen demiurges without breaking a sweat.

It stands to reason that life forms created using pocket universe shenanigans would not provide a permanent power boost on the outside.

Life created via Animus is self-sustaining and therefore an eligible target for Harvester. I added Occultism to be able to create demons via Daemonicus as demons were the benchmark the author used to ballpark the numbers.

It's not seeing the future, it's making sure it doesn't happen the way the don't want it to.

The real reason is because there's no way for anyone to stop Incarnates hiding in their Abode and growing stronger. It's boring. If you can do it, another Incarnate can do it, and thus you're forced to go the Abode power route if you don't want to be squashed by an enemy Incarnate.

>The real reason is because there's no way for anyone to stop Incarnates hiding in their Abode and growing stronger. It's boring. If you can do it, another Incarnate can do it, and thus you're forced to go the Abode power route if you don't want to be squashed by an enemy Incarnate.

But, anon, as it stands you're forced into the smash and grab. Whomever can kill the most incarnates the quickest wins. Unquestionably. Is the abode thing that much worse?

Also, honestly, I was just trying to find a way to be relevant while still taking the Fallen Demiurge drawback. I'm perfectly happy in my own universe, I just think adventuring throughout the multiverse would be neat as well. And it's difficult to do so as a chump lvl 1 incarnate.
Admittedly, 33 millennia of killing might send me off the deep end.

>Practicing your combos on demons is training, absorbing their souls is not.

Does doing push-ups count as training?
>>

do something or just die

The patrons are not trying to kill you anon. Your neighbor could kill you IRL but just because he could does not mean he will.
>>
>>49903532

They're all a threat. Some more than others. CK wants to "unite" the multiverse. That means my little part of existence. The Dark One, The Other, and The Prime Angel are also more likely than not to try to dip a finger in your pie sooner or later. The others are relatively benign, but it's better to have no enemies than some (potential) allies.
>>
>>49903553

Incentive is key here. Power is what they want here. The more power they have, they more control they have. And everyone wants control. And the more power others have, the less you do.
>>
>>49903570
The primes recognize demiurges as the rightful rulers of their universes. Yes they might not like how you runs things but you can tell them you are "doing as thou will" and they will fuck off.
>>
>>49903590

They wanna prevent a universal war, right? But what do you call battles between 100 God like beings in each of the 7,777,777,777 universes? And if they want you restore order to 64 universes, won't you need to wage war in that many? Kill the rest of the incarnates in those universes so that nobody mucks up your plans for order?
>>
>>49903585
You are simplifying all their agendas into "power" and that does not give the whole picture. For one most of them don't want another UW and won't try and provoke one.

Lord of Woes is the only one out to get everyone and luckily everyone else will join up to stop it.
>>
>>49903630

Hey, if you wanna get stabbed in the back, go right ahead.
>>

I call it the reformation of a demiurge. The 64 others are to get their champion chosen but if they lose a universe they will respect the new demiurge. The game is indeed very hot until we reach demiurge.

Yeah it is. Humans, at the least, naturally seek conflict. It's happening. And the Primes are willing to kill you for going too far against them. And the AI's goal will necessarily make him have to fight Demiurges.

Then don't 1v1 them when you're fresh off the boat (or better yet, don't fight them at all). It isn't an insurmountable gap, once you're more experienced. Unless you're one of those anons who can't win in his own fantasies unless he's utterly omnipotent.

>More experience will increase...
No it won't, because their experience will increase on the same scale. You're running in place.
>>
>>49904046
To add as time goes on the experience they have over you becomes less and less relatively. Experience is not a uniform good so you can cultivate unique experience to get an edge and if you are still worried use relativistic time dilation to get more xp than them.
>>
>>49904072
>No it won't, because their experience will increase on the same scale. You're running in place.
Unless they have time dialation shit, experience is a linear thing, because time is usually linear.

You'd always be progressing, because while they also get more experience, the ratio between the two of you is getting closer as time goes on.
>>
>>49904072
>their experience will increase on the same scale

That's simply not true. Diminishing returns are always in effect. A person who's spent 6 years studying swordplay might be twice as good as a person who's spent six months. But the latter would be ten times as good as a person who's only spent six days.

>>
>>49904159
Time dilation could actually get you ahead anon.

CK has actually been changed a bit. We are now allowed to hunt incarnates that don't serve the republic and since it would be dumb to take more than one incarnate from the same universe nothing is stopping you from getting full demiurge. If you don't like that you could become an Aeon, get the Prime Feathers, join a hive mind, our become an Old One.
>>
>>49904159
> they're always stronger, more intelligent, and more experienced
That's true, provided they never stop amassing experience, you'll never reach their level. However, you can reach 99.(9)% their level. Which is basically the same thing.

Also, as a human, you'll never be as strong as a gorilla, no matter how much you train. I don't see Planet of the Apes in effect all around us, do you?
You don't try to match them at what they do best. You try to be decent at what they do best and be the best you can possibly be at what you can do best.

The direction would not matter the effect could be cultivated. If he can make the Dark Ones years feel like seconds he could make progress. But I am pretty sure time is "slower" the higher the gravity of a place is. So if you spent enough time on a high gravity world you could make progress.

>>49904260
>if you spent enough time on a high gravity world you could make progress.

Nope, look at black holes. To an observer unaffected by the black hole's gravity, an entity that is affected would appear to move slower and slower the closer they got to the event horizon (and, implicitly, the greater the force of gravity they were subjected to). Time would not appear slowed down at all to the latter. Should this hypothetical entity survive, they would only be free of the effect once the black hole collapses, and they would only have experienced a few seconds to the eons that the aforementioned unaffected observer did.

Except they aren't.
The Ultimate Monstrosity is explicitly stated to be uber stronk but dumb as shit. Shit, you could probably just trap it in a temporal distortion or something and just keep feeding its hedonist ways and not give it a second thought.

Prime angels are similarly unsophisticated. They explicitly lack creativity. Cultivate that aspect of yourself and you have a massive advantage.

The Other is explicitly stated to be incapable of affecting realspace except via proxy. All you have to do is take away its proxies. Once you're a Demiurge you're basically omnipotent in your own 'verse. You can find proxies and eliminate them with a twitch of the eyebrow.

etc. etc.

Are you really that dense and unimaginative that you can't think of counters to intrinsically limited creatures?

Year 1

Security
Party Planner

Having become proficient in Summoning Magic early on with intense study and practice, I was a natural fit for providing a bolster to the guard forces. I'm not sure how I was roped into being a part planner, but there I met Dax, who refused to believe that I wanted to be left alone, and eventually he introduced me to my other friends.

Year 2-3

Fund Raising

At this point, I am just trying to find time to spend with my friends outside of my classes.

Year 4

Battle Royal

I am starting to get more confident in my skills, and challenge the tournaments. I get far, but not far enough.

Research Proposal

In an attempt to gain an edge in the next Battle Royal, I attend the grand summit and end up getting in contact with a nice girl from Jah,Kala Tel giving a presentation the theory of the Avatar state taught there.

Year 5

Battle Royal

I attend once again. This time, I end up against Chandara in the 1 on 1 finals. It is a close match, but I ultimately debut my trump card of entering Avatar state with my summoned partner to press for victory at the last second.

I am unable to help the apparent ghost, but I promise to return as an alumni to maybe jury-rig something with Avatar State

Battle of the Arts

My hero training is nearly complete, and I want a relaxing time to enjoy all of the sights and sounds with my friends.

Bodyguard

Only- I have been invited to act as her highness Cynthia Highking's bodyguared for the evening. What could this mean? I suppose I did win the tournament this year...

As it turns out, it is really a front. She asks me to help her get away, as what she really wants is to escape and get trained at St. Flere's.

Unfortunately, we are seen, and she claims I'm kidnapping her. Things escalate, Dax, Allyce and Chandara help me escape the armed forces. Cynthia got away somehow too.

The Problem?

As the Princess is nowhere to be found, I have been declared the next great evil. Now what?

There's at least 1 post like that per thread, pay no mind to it.
>>
>>49904890
If it was close to its origin cyoa it might make more sense.
>>
>>49904907
He's doing it on purpose, and has been constantly for more than a year now probably.
>>
We probably need a new thread.
>>
>>49904907

Or linked. I mean, half the thread is about UW.

>>49901152

It is this one.
>>
>>49904824
You mean with the Ultimate Monster? I don't see me having to actively feed it as anything but it achieving victory, since I actively have to serve it and it gets what it wants.
>>
>>49904982
No in the drawbacks section.
>>
>>49904846
>both single player and multiplayer
>both PvE and PVP
>genre FPS, beat-em up, platformer, RPG and mon
>theme cuh-razy, fantasy, lighter and softer, high-tech and gritty realism
Pretty sure you're supposed to pick one per category, numbnuts.
>>
>>49904818
Ah, okay! No, I don't hate UW, but I'm not going to read it and I have zero clue what they're talking about... so why would I read it?
>>
>>49905067
He probably A'd that meta CYOA.
>>
>>49905067
If you have Suda 51 on the team, you xould make a game that chooses All of the Above and it would be amazing.
>>
>>49904927
Wouldn't it be better to wait, and let them finish their discussion on UW? If you make it now, they'll move over.

Does killing an incarnate if you pick tower mean you absorb their soul thereby destroying them completely?
>>
>>49905079
Wouldn't explain taking more than two for genre and theme.
>>
>>49903532
If you were to take the Ultimate Monstrosity for Bad Blood would that mean that you'd just have an Ahab like obsession with killing him? Since unlike most of the others he has no real compunction about destroying half a universe to get at you and generally prefers to just fuck around doing whatever comes to him.
>>
>>49904290
>You can't. Your power level can never rise beyond regular Demiurges without being a Tower.
Or a Devil, really though given the existence of things like the Soul Matrix I'm pretty sure that there are other ways of permanently increasing your power. Its just that most of them either require vast amount of time to get swole or committing horrible atrocities.

>>49905364

Just get an abode and do that timey wimey stuff
>>
Since this thread is almost dead, can someone explain what the heck is up with this picture?
Does she have three legs or something? Because I don't know if I can use it, it's weirding me out now that I noticed it.
>>
>>49905541
Her right leg is broken so her knee is bending at an unusual angle. That's supposed to be her right asscheek.
>>
>>49905549
What the fuck really? She isn't nearly in a position to show off her butt!
>>
>>49905593
It looks like artist couldn't into art.

I don't know why but her face makes me want to brutally shank her to using a hammer
>>
>>49905628
Be fair. The artist couldn't into anatomy, the arts decent.
>>
>>49905760
Yeah it's great and I want to use it. I'll use it for a different option the "hairpin of great hair", or maybe the "get head pats" option, and hide that strange butt.
