I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but this seems terribly limited in potential intrinsically. I get that not all CYOAs have to be wish fulfillment but there's no story in this, too little imagination fodder.

I think, maybe, it's because you can either retain varying bits of yourself and have the universe you live in be depressingly limited or sacrifice yourself and basically just have things be the way they already are.

If it were about overcoming adversity, I'd get it but it isn't. It's just a massive decision being thrust upon one with consequences that are anywhere from difficult to nigh impossible to truly grasp.

I dunno, that's just my two cents. It's a neat thing to think about for like thirty seconds, but little more.

That being said, I'd go for Sand and Woven, assuming Sand allows for sentient life to independently develop.
Like I said before, I find the other three options incredibly stifling.

That's a fair shake. I will outright admit that it was most made to try and practice certain visual effects which I'm using in another project. I should have put some more thought into the various choices, but I was mostly concentrating on how to create the effects I wanted. I also can't say it's really inspired by anything but my own feelings of isolation and depression rather than being a "Socratic Method game" like what I usually try make when I sit down and cogitate on my projects.

That asshole merchant conned me into buying a weird potion that turned me into a little girl, then skipped town before I had a chance to get back at him. Turns out, he stole most of his goods from a local witches' coven, who have learned of my plight and have agreed to take me in until it can be undone.

It's a pleasant little community, actually. One of those hidden-behind-that-back-alley-that-wasn't-there-yesterday sort of deals. There's a magic school, a small neighborhood with a housing complex, some hot springs, a park, a pool, and a few other amenities. There are a few other girls my age who also live in the complex, so I can hang around with them from time to time.

Of course, there are some... caveats. One of the resident witches adopted me, and expects me to act like her young daughter. If I do slip up and fail to "act my age", most people wouldn't notice, and no one would believe me anyway (though Momma would notice, and probably scold me over it).

To keep up appearances, I also have to attend school. I don't actually attend any classes, since I have no magic powers of my own and my mind is more or less the same as when I was an adult. It's little more than a glorified daycare, but there's a pretty large library of arcane knowledge, so it's not the worst way to kill time.

I have to be diapered before bedtime (not fair! I only wet my bed, like, twice... in a row); Momma likes to taunt me about it with bottlefeeding.

She (or my babysitter) will also dress me in diapers during the day as punishment— that, or give me a spanking (either way, my pants are being pulled down beforehand, and I have to spend some time sitting in the corner afterwards). Every so often, I can catch a glimpse of one of the other girls being spanked or babied in the same way. Admittedly, it is amusing when it's happening to someone else, though there's always a risk of hearing "don't tease her too hard, sweetie— you're next."

It's gonna be a long year.

For example, you may have an interesting setting and great tools for building your own character, but at the tail end of the CYOA you're suddenly introduced to these random people with whom you're stuck with for your whole adventure. I don't like when there's too many. That is, I have no problem if there's a lot to choose from, but the more I'm allowed to choose, the less valuable each one is. I would prefer 1 or two intimate companions over a couple dozen distant friends. My favorite companion options are the "you get a twin" kind. I quite enjoy them, as I'm someone that often prefers to create builds "from the bottom up", by imagining which build would have the best interactions with some of the other characters.

Having said that, though, it really depends on the creator's writing, as >>49892489 mentioned. I too get quite tired of seeing the same, poorly written character archetypes over and over again throughout a good 75% of most CYOAs, like the boisterous brawler or the shy waif. No love there, and it just comes off as tacked on.

Companions I feel sorry for? Maybe the Troll from Troll Hunter CYOA, along with the Tape cassette ghost and the depressed police officer from Supernatural CYOA, although the setting plays a big part in the charm of those last two.

Pokemon Personified is getting an expansion update featuring new characters, factions, settings, and stuff from Gen VII (in the same world as the original cyoa just on a different continent), but I will not finish it in anyway until Sun/Moon is released and more artwork comes in which won't be for awhile.
