I'm curious, how would you "translate" something like Darklord Ixtab from Yu-Gi-Oh to mtg ?

>You can discard this card and 1 "Darklord" or "Fallen One" card; draw 2 cards. During either player's turn: You can pay 1000 LP, then target 1 "Darklord" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; this effect becomes that target's effect when that card is activated, then shuffle that target into the Deck. You can only use each effect of "Darklord Ixtab" once per turn. You can only Special Summon "Darklord Ixtab(s)" once per turn.

To the best of my ability. The fucking

I was just hoping making a mechanic that only worked like the Increasing cycle was grounds for a new keyword. I guess not.Yadda yadda, I'm a retard, oh well. This is news to nobody.

>>49894857
This is pretty strong, but as far as wedge commanders go, copying the cycle of Tarkir monocolor ones at once feels like cheating and a good idea, since wedge shit is actually really hard to design. This guy is pretty neat; the modal instant-speed Scavenge is not too shabby. The cost on it is very aggressive too.

>>49895230
This screams "abuse me" to me. Straight life costs are usually hard to balance, and the fact that it doesn't require a tap in any way. I realize it's a YGO card ported to MtG, but I think it's a prime example how the two games are so damn different in terms of what's considered a fair mechanic.

>>49897450
>Landmander
Oh gosh. Since you can't cast it in any way, trying to make one of its abilities scale off commander tax is an interesting way to try and make it feel more "commandery". Still not sure it's a good idea to make Lands able to be commanders though. Especially manlands, as cool as that would be. Well, I guess someone might manage to make it work.

>>49897489
If you play it on itself, you get a 4/4 flash for 5, which is underwhelming. So if you're playing it on-curve, it kinda sucks. If you play it after landing a fatty, it's pretty good, and you can get a lot of value out of it. I would almost suggest a weird casting cost like 2GGG or something.

Or something like that. Basically she copies equipment and uses them without actually making tokens or anything, though I dunno if that even works. I guess a temporary token could work too. Having her cheat artifacts though seems more like something Tony Stark would do. Maybe I don't know enough about her powers?

She'd be different enough with different abilities than Hulkling. Having cards that seem close copies of each other is going to happen; it's inevitable because many heroes share powers or have similar ones. And since cards typically don't convey personality too much aside from name and flavor text, you're going to have deja vu with some of them.

Well three mana dragons are a little unusual in themselves. Iconics tend to be bigger, at 4+ CMC.

Flying, double strike alone is a hefty combination. 1/1 Flying, double strikers start at 1WW, if you can count Megamorph as a marginal upside.

This sort of power doubling isn't nearly so cheap. It starts at 2GG for +X/+X and 1RG for +X/+0, so uhh, no. Outlasting while also doubling power, is even more insane. Hell, this sort of counter granting is typically heavily restricted. There are exactly 6 creatures that can do it for nothing more than mana with no major caveats (Carnivorous Moss Beast, Clockwork Dragon, Feral Hydra, Jenara, Rock Hydra, and Savageborn Hydra), and none of them go as batshit as being an evasive, exponential double striker.

So yeah this thing is off the rails crazy.

>>49901108
Double strike makes everything else about a card more expensive, because they suddenly get double value from P/T boosts. The going rate for a tap-less counter is around 1C to as high as 5CC, where C is red, green, or white.

But a flier that gets counters for mana has been done. Its called Jenara, Asura of War.

I think most experienced players would easily recognize fake cards, especially if they're interesting fake cards. The vast majority of Magic is boring if functional draft fodder that never makes it to constructed play. But functional draft fodder is probably the most difficult thing to design, so a lot of us like to make splashy rares and mythics. But those are pretty obvious when they don't blend in with regular Wizards design.

Although I think it would be interesting to bring a proxy cube of a custom set to an LGS or something to draft.

best art choice because i'm not an animu shitter
i get that thematically it needs all three keywords but it is a bit of a keyword soup, maybe take off some p/t to round it off
with the lifelink, you'd lose 4~6 life/turn but be gaining 7~10. imo this is the kind of card that demands support, you ought to be losing more life than gaining if it is just that creature on board.
consider also that you're getting another card per turn. that's huge. for 3BW i'd think a 3/3? still quite strong

>deathtouch and lifelink aren't capitalized, look at other existing creatures with multiple keywords such as mantis rider
>flavour text is teenager sonic fan level

the deathtouch is fine it's the lifelink that bothers me.

look at dark confidant. he draws you an extra card but the downside is that you lose 2-5 life/turn
avaricious dragon or midnight oil, you will have a handsize of zero
phyrexian arena and friends are probably the most powerful, taking only 1 life/turn
some others draw you a card without such a downside but are conditional
white doesn't do card draw and black usually taxes your life total for the benefit

the point here is that with a 4/4 flying lifelink and a bonus x life where x is cards in hand (easily abused see reliquary tower) the downside is entirely negated. entirely, unless for some reason you can't attack/block and you have dumped your hand which if your deck construction is on par won't happen often. sure you may lose 7-8 life off a big card like avacyn but you'll gain it right back with the minimum 4 lifelink plus eot gain

easiest way to balance this is to take out the lifelink keyword. if you must have it, i'd propose lowering the power. 3/3 flying deathtouch lifelink might be better here. the moral of the story is oloro is shit, you should at least lift a finger to have a powerful effect

this is far from what the final product will probably look like.

Been playtesting common-only sealed pools and I am learning places it needs to go. I want to swap one slot from each color from spell to creature, so comments on which spell in each monocolor you think are the lamest would be kewlio.

Beyond that, enjoy the complete trash list of proto-commons that will be completely reworked into a much better list of commons at a later date.

Death Sentence could be cheaper, or mono white. I like the concept.

Frame of Essence feels like it's too abilities were tacked on to make it multi colored.

Too much of your dream is just pseudo-rummaging. Some is good, but too much and it gets really boring. You need strong effects that are not just card advantage.

Idea Hammer - you don't need the choice. The second effect could just target. See Master the Way.

Foreign Fascinator is a cool card.

Deliverance should be sorcery or cost more.

Dual lands are alright.

This is intended for two reasons, faction mechanics compete so they don't function together (don't want factions to be synergistic for flavor reasons). Also, it is intended to be a high-skill environment, limiting resources is part of this.

2/2

>>49912455
I'd suggest a name if I could think of one I thought was good.

>>49912477
Why are you confused by this? If you restrict options, less skill is required because you'll just choose one of a very few builds that works. Like, this is what happened with Skullclamp, the meta just devolved into two builds, pro-Clamp and anti-Clamp. How does it take skill to take the option almost guaranteed to win, especially when everyone around you is doing it too? The most skillful option in that case would be to not to use the winning strategy, which would almost guarantee defeat. Doesn't sound very fun. And we're on /tg/, shouldn't we be against railroading by default?
>>

>This sounds more like a breakfast special at Denny's

Doesn't work, can be targeted in response. I'll think about other possibilities.

>Other not-name related stuff

>Why is the token a Blue Wizard? What's the flavor of your set again?
Five planes crash together, snafu ensues. The actual specific storyline focuses on one plane, the WUR, for the first set, as it was formerly a peaceful plane of artists that suddenly has war-torn murderdeath planes wanting to take it over.

It's a blue wizard because that's the faction's main token, and minor color shifting is a subtheme.

Might as well do some feedback on the poor neglected cards posted since I last shitted this place up.

>>49910373
Hm. This seems a bit good at common. Lightning Hounds says the card itself might be okay, but I'd do two things to it: make it cost 1RR, and make it uncommon. Now, I know that it's poised to be in a multicolor set given the drawback text, so maybe 3R? That's still easier to cast than Lightning Hound and honestly, that drawback really isn't since it has first strike and will likely be safe in most exchanges. At 3R it could likely be common.

>>49910692
Seems fine, but a "captain" strikes me as a beefier body; 2/2 at least. Especially at rare, I'd rather see it repackaged and recosted accordingly.

>>49911069
Hm. I kinda like this. It seems a bit cheap but I'd have to see it play to know for sure. Then again, flying hate seems to be pretty cheap in green, which makes sense, so maybe it's okay.

>>49912292
This is dangerously flirting with being over-efficient, I think. I'm always leery of anything that compares to Vampire Nighthawk, though I can't exactly condemn it for that given the card I'm throwback-posting. I think the issue is that a 2/2 with flying and another ability is already good at 1BB, and the fact that this can get a lot of value out of itself is a bit concerning. Maybe 3B? I dunno.

That's uh... not the point, /CO/anon. The point is she can't attack someone who controls no creatures, because she wants to duel the creatures, not smash player face. What you suggest is the stark opposite. The reason for the +1/+0 on attack is that otherwise you get a 2/1 first strike wall for W, which is a bit much.

Well, she's also uncommon too. It's funny how even years after the set is done, I still need to clean up the cards. Ah well. Glad I never printed them. Maybe power creep is real after all.

>Doom
At 10 mana, literally do whatever you want. Having to hard cast it is probably forthe best though. I really am not sure how an opponent could recover from this though, so there comes a point where you just have to wonder why his ability isn't just Door or "you win" straight up.

Also, given how he schemes, I would rather he require a bunch of "stars to align" so to speak, like multiple conditions to be met, then you win somehow, to reflect that. Though maybe that would just be regular Doom? Eh.

I posted this in the EDH thread, but I figured it's be a good idea to get your opinions.

My playgroup and I wanted to make our own custom commander cards and build decks around them. I decided to go with a Mardu Knight theme and picked this guy. We all had to choose three colors, a character from MTG that never got a card and/or a character with a different card altogether.

Wanted some opinions on how this guy turned out. We don't plan on using the actual images or card styles here (one of the guys in my playgroup is making them, and he makes professional proxies).

I just wanted opinions on whether or not this guy is effectively costed, if the P/T is good, and if the abilities are correct for the colors.

Again, we're not using the actual card in the image. Just a placeholder.
>>
>>49918041
those abilities are pretty fucking white.
>>
>>49918145
Well, it's in white but Flanking is a White and Red ability.

This isn't even that good. Seven mana - especially this color intensive - is way too much, and the only thing you can do once you play it is cast loads of creature spells, which is too slow.

Your wording is kind of borked, too. It should be:
>Lifelink
>You may pay X life rather than pay the mana cost for Creature spells you cast, where X is that spell's converted mana cost.
>If you would draw a card, instead put the top card of your library into your graveyard, then return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
>>

>>49922361
Replacement effects aren't allowed to target. You return a creature card, not target creature card.

Here, have a mess of critique.

>number hybrid mana
What a perfect fit for your block. I hadn't considered it before.
>numbrid mana with a value other than [2]
This is confusing and usually worthless. Even in a block with as heavy a mana focus as this, it's just a fancy way of saying "This thing's converted mana cost is N."

>Winds of Passivity [1U]
>Enchantment - Aura
>Flash
>Enchant creature
>When ~ enters the battlefield, target creature gets -5/-0 until end of turn.
>Enchanted creature gets -5/-0.
Inspirit is bad and you should feel bad. It's just an enchantment with an ETB effect. Also, "inspirited" sounds awful.

Pinnacle is boring but fine. Great name.

Touch of the Duat is doing too much at common. Too flexible and confusing, is what I mean.

A lot of your cards are too complex for a NWO common, blah blah, I know you don't care.

Your flavor text continues to be on point. "Riverscale tribals patrol" sounds awkward.

Your cards exude quality. The wording is perfect, the art is well-chosen, and there's actually a story being told in the flavor. You're one professional motherfucker.

It gives me tons of flexibility in costing, though. It allows me to hit that 5 mana mark, and to create high cmc cards without necessarily relegating them to the late game or inundating the set with ramp.
>Inspirit
The idea was spell haunt where the spells do the same thing when you cast them or when you exile them, but I'm not too happy with it either. I might just use Flashback as my UR mechanic.

>CU01
Seems fine. Pinnacle might play a little strangely, since early on it's hard to "get ahead" and enable it, and if you go first, it's extra hard if your opponent plays a one drop and hits his curve. The other possibly unhealthy thing I see is that it basically coerces you into drafting things like CU03 so you can inflate your CMCs and activate all your Pinnacle stuff. Ability words, in my opinion, function better when they are something you can reliably do by naturally playing the game, and tying them to things that control how you draft can make for a poor experience. It isn't a sure thing that it won't work, but just be wary of that fact. You can create an archetype that people might dislike since it tells them what to draft, and if those things aren't fun/interesting/good on their own, they might resent it. Card seems balanced otherwise.m A bit weak but that's because of the Pinnacle ability.

>CU02
Now this is something you'd want to draft if Pinnacle feels good to play. And if it doesn't, it would make trying to draft it feel terrible because the card is so good. Blue rarely sees this kind of efficiency, and even a CMC4 3/3 is pretty odd for it. Being able to make it into a 4/4 by drafting CU03, for example, might skew the format. Take care of creating another Delver-type issue with Pinnacle. It's the other end of the spectrum of problems that can arise, especially with commons. Weldfast Wingsmith says it might be okay though.

>CU03
In a better place now than it was at 2/5. I still worry about cards like this with Pinnacle though, since if your opponent didn't draft it, you can outrace him with a monodeck AND exploit that fact with Pinnacle.

>CU04
I love AEther Adept, so 10/10 common. Could be 2/3 though I think. If you wanted to. It's fine at 2/2 though as well, given the utility.

>CU07
Pinnacle punisher, which is good, but might hit the board too late to make a difference.

>CU08
Seems fine to me.

>CU09
I do worry about all these color-heavy monocards in a multicolor set. I guess we'll find out how well it plays in a few months.

>CU10
Seems fine, but since you can't interact with Inspiriting cards, you have to be careful what effects you give them, just like they had to do with Haunt. Conservative is good. This isn't too bad, but remember, in Limited, people will actually draft Enchantment and Artifact removal, and it's not just sideboard stuff. So you have to make those cards feel necessary and useful. Or I guess not include them if you're going to have cards that ignore them. Either way.

>CU11
See CU10 thoughts. I think I agree that Inspirit might need a replacement. Flashback... eh. It doesn't seem a good fit since it doesn't play into your themes. Spell mastery might be a thought though.

>CU12
Solid 8/10 draft common.

>CU13
I can't decide if this card name should be on a rarer card, or if it's hilarious that it's common because it implies the nobility throw it around willy-nilly and everyone just rolls their eyes at the frequency, or ignores it because it happens all the time. Card seems fine, though I wouldn't draft it myself I don't think.

>CU14
Turning any creature you control into an Archaeomancer seems fine to me.

Hm. I dunno what to think of this comparing it to Exhume. It's more expensive for a temporary effect, and favors each player pretty much the same way, since any creature your opponent grabs can be used against whatever you grab, which is also less of an issue since it's not going to stick around. I guess in a deck built around "dies" triggers it's way better? I feel like I'm missing something.

Zik seems really all over the place. He needs to be tightened up thematically, I think. Obviously it's hard to tell where this effect goes in color pie- the only thing like it is Panglacial Wurm in green. So I knew it had to have green. Then I considered what colors would have a good bit of creatures and a good bit of tutors, and it was gonna be Black for the second color, leaving either White or Red. Ultimately i went with Black and White because I feel like it's a good defensive color with few options in EDH (Ghave and Karador, both of which are very different playstyles than her, whereas she's actually somewhat similar to Mayael in Naya).

Well, she is basically a superhero pin-up girl, or at least originally. Really, nearly all of her costumes are basically bikinis with capes. What's kinda interesting about the Knight name though is that it's a name used by another line of heroes with a similar origin (powers through tech). Specifically the Starmen... which I still have to make cards for. Closest I've gotten is Stargirl (yes, she's part of the Starmen legacy, it's kinda complicated), but I've been stuck for a while on what the hell the mentioned cards do, or if tutoring like this is a good idea. Might just do what I normally do and make the card to reflect the character always having their standard equipment, like with Phantom Lady.

>Hexproof
I'll try thinking of something.

If you're looking for things to do, how about a keyword/ability/anything in UB that isn't mill? I'd like to see other people's takes on the color pair since it seems that's all we'll ever get from Wizards with it.
>>
>>49928863
Yeah yours is broader than mine. Maybe too broad though. I think the main issue with yours is it ends up feeling perhaps too much like Metalcraft even though it's a different circumstance. It's not bad, just... samey.

>>49928864
>Sorry.
Eh, not like I trip or use a set symbol. It's why I reminded you instead of getting all offended-like, which would be silly.

>Stormy Knight
I shall have to research her then. I love pinups. If she's a cool character to boot then all the better.

>Stargirl
This is parasitic as fuck but since you're not making a set and are basically just trying to make balanced cards in a vacuum that might interact with each other a bit in some cases, it's fine. Just treat the tutors like you're making a Rebel card; should be a good stepping-off point to balanced effects. Since she has haste though, she basically just ETBs tapped with a piece of her gear attached... which gives me an interesting idea... hang on.

Actually, just looked her up again. Apparently, the different versions had different names, and Stormy wasn't the original, that was a more modern name. Apparently someone must've loved the pun. Though that version of the character is more of a Paris Hilton type, so that was likely the point.

I think "Arm" would work better as a "When this creature enters the battlefield, you may pay (Arm cost). If you do, you may attach target equipment you control to it." This effect seems like it should be called something else. The actual card also seems preeeetttyyyy strong. 2/2 vigilance for 2 is relatively pushed, but then there's the chance its a 2/2 vigilance with a batterskull, sword of X&Y, jitte equipped for 4. I'd be careful, you're playing with fire

>Cipher
I liked it because it was a combat centric keyword in a not combat-y color pair, and the effect is pretty cool. its just that almost all of them are AWFUL, and the ones that aren't are subpar to par at best.

Don't really know about this, but the idea seems cool. Reminds me of a cycle I was doing for my zombie set. Basically, these creatures would enter the battlefield and get an equipment token attached to them.

>Phantom Lady
Bored rich girl takes to crimefighting/spy-smashing (ooh, I need to make a card for Spy Smasher), uses "black light ray projector" to do it. Basically, the black light was her gimmick. I'm not super familiar with the original character because I'm not into older comics though.

I'm more familiar with Stormy, who was, as I said, a bit of a Paris Hilton type. Her powers were complete gamebreakers though. Upgraded from blinding people in projected darkness to teleportation and intangibility.

Oh, though she is associated with the Freedom Fighters, which I should probably make cards for. And here's one now, the Human Bomb. Probably horribly balanced, sorry, I'll be sure to look over it again in the morning.

Yes, it is. And the card is pushed to hell, and I keep not learning my lesson about making reasonable cards as showpieces for ideas. But I think the idea has merit, even if there are equipments that are really strong out there.

Hold on to your ass; the bad idea train has no brakes. Honestly this should probably use wording that requires you to tap the creature and pay a cost to cast a copy of the card from exile, but... I feel the warp overtaking me. It's a good pain.

>>49929205

Derping around with this "Arm" idea some more. Does this read well? Remember: reminder text isn't rule text. It just needs to be clear about what it does. The intent is that you get to attach an equipment that costs less than the Armed cost, so if that doesn't read well in the reminder text, I'll need to re-jigger it.

Hm. I contemplated doing away with the Armed cost and just doing the "etb tapped, attach weapon that costs less" thing which could simplify things, but it also removes the utility of having a creature with a high Armed cost that lets you drop it with expensive Equipment attached. I dunno what's more valuable though; the flexibility of the separate cost or the simplicity of the non-costed version. That version for reference.
>>
>>49929814
I think the other guy had it right where it would be much better if it just attached an equipment you already had on the field to it. It's not often that you'll even get to use the ability if you're relying on said equipment being in your hand as you cast the creature.

I meant:
>When this creature enters the battlefield, you may attach target equipment you control to it.

Alternatively, add in an activation cost (only when it enters) or a CMC check for the equipment, which would probably be necessary for balance reasons.

The only problem with the ability you have "cheating in" equipment from your hand is that it really won't work out often enough to trigger or matter.

Okay I'll try to explain what I meant.

Someone posted Lim-Dul's Vault in /edhg/ and said that the wording was too complicated. People were explaining the card to the guy and I came with that scry 5 wording

Some dude got really butt blasted over it saying mine wording was different wizards doesn't do erratas anymore, it came out in ice age way before scry was even a thing, and I said that while it was different it was also close enough.

I'm not sure, but I think that he thought that I wanted wizards to change Lim-Dul's Vault to that and anyone who knows wizards know that they go extreme lengths to make sure that old cards keep doing the same as they did when they where printed and refuse to change them, refuse to do functional erratas.

But (you) by reading my card and linking it to Lim-Dul's Vault you just confirmed to me that it was indeed close enough to Lim-Dul's Vault and thus satisfying my autism.

Well, there's really little point in using Scry if it's otherwise worded just like Vault, because then the only difference is that, at the end, you would choose which cards of the last five go on the bottom of the shuffled library.

Also, I linked Vault as a way of saying "I don't like this, try making it more like this card instead." Because, yeah, I am really not a fan of having activated abilities on spells, I'd rather have the Vault's wording.

>>49936443
Should make It a Legendary Land Creature for extra.
>>
>>49936276
>>49936415
OK. Well, the easiest way to do it is to just do what >>49936342 did. It should be noted that lands are different from mana, you don't always need lands to make mana, and not all lands make mana (most do, but that's a conversation for another day).

Anyway, for lands, there are five basic land types. They are called this because these are the only, I repeat, ONLY, types that show up on cards with the "basic" type, which has special rules meaning attached to it that allows a deck to have any number of cards with that name to be in your deck (in most cases, you can only have four cards with the same name in your deck). These types are

Plains, which produces W (White mana)

Island, which produces U (Blue mana, because Blue and Black start with B, they chose U for Blue)

Swamp, which produces B (Black mana)

Mountain, which produces R (Red mana)

And Forest, which produces G (Green mana)

Also, it's important to note that the basic land types have the ability to make mana as a special rule attached to them. This is why the mana ability on Cinder Glade is written as reminder text. For example, if there's an ability that makes all your lands Forests, they which all have
>T: Add G to your mana pool.
For as long as the effect lasted simply by having the type Forest.
>>
>>49936443
Yes, the discard ability is really out of place.

>>49934007
>>49934117
OK, a few things. The ordering for activated abilities goes
>[mana cost], T, [other costs]: [effect]
With T of course being the tap symbol. Notice how the mana and T in your ability are out of order. This is because you didn't use commas.

Moving on, because the card is a Creature, the types listed after the hyphen, Living and Land, are therefore Creature types, that is, subtypes specific to the Creature card type that can only exist on Creature cards. If a Creature for some reason stops being a creature, it will lose whatever Creature types it has until it becomes a Creature again. Anyway, neither Living nor Land are official Creature types. While you could use Living as a type if you wish, you can't use Land as Land already exists as a card type. Going even further, if you were to make this a Legendary Land Creature, which you could, it would need many changes.

Pic attached is the one and only Land Creature card in Magic. Notice that it has no mana cost. This is because it is is played as a land card. Only lands are "played" while nonland cards are "cast" since nonland cards become spells, while lands do not. Note however that if an effect talks about playing a card without restricting it to only lands, you can still cast a card with it. Playing a land is something referred to as a special action, which has its own rules. Again, lands don't become spells. They simply transition from one zone to another (eg. from hand to battlefield). Because they don't become spells, that can't be affected by effects that target spells. There are restrictions on when a land can be played, only once each turn, only during one of your main phases and only if there is nothing on the stack (ie. no spells or abilities are present). While these rules can be bent with certain effects, there is one ironclad rule that can't be changed by any card: A player can only play lands during his or her own turn.
>>
>>49936526

>>
>>49936884
>X, R/G, T: X amount of target land cards have "T: Add R/G to your mana pool."
No. What the other anon gave you here >>49936342 is much much better. The ability you propose is garbage, because you have to feed it mana in the first place. Even if you wanted your ability to work, the wording would be
>[X][R/G], [T]: X target lands gain "[T]: Add [R] or [G] to your mana pool."
Oh jesus this is going to take forever. Seriously, please start reading more actual Magic cards.

Anyway, you can't add hybrid mana (eg. R/G) to your mana pool. If an effect ever tried to do it, you just choose one. You still shouldn't write that though.

Also, things that are on the battlefield are called permanents. Creatures, artifacts, enchantments, lands, and planeswalkers can be permanents, and are referred to as permanent cards, even when they're not on the battlefield.

Cards that are on the stack, that is they are being cast, are referred to as spells. All permanents that aren't lands can be spells, and instant and sorcery cards can also be spells.

And in all other zones, cards are just referred to as cards. There are cards in hands, graveyards, libraries, exile, and the command zone. The command zone is a zone that isn't used nearly as much as the other zones, but it is still used in all Magic games. For example, emblems from planeswalkers are placed in the command zone. Note that emblems aren't cards are tokens, they are emblems. In addition, the command zone is used more often in variant formats to hold cards that Wizards doesn't want interacting with normal Magic cards, like Plane, Scheme, and Conspiracy cards.

Also, there's a difference between "gain" and "get" for cards. Abilities, such as "T: Add R or G to your mana pool." use "gain", while P/T modifiers, like "+1/+1" use "get". Normally if a creature gains and gets something due to the same effect, get is used before gain, though sometimes it's reversed, for example if get uses an X variable.
