So a bunch of us in my play group are putting new decks together to freshen up the meta and I was looking to put together a Golgari dredge deck just because the idea of the importance of the graveyard and the general return to life theme interests me. However I'm not really sure how to put one together or what a win con would be for dredge. I've looked over EDHrec for Jarad, but I'm having trouble making heads or tales with how to actually win with dredge. Any insight or advice into how to play and win with G/B dredge would be appreciated.

Kinda thinking about switching my Intet Dragon Tribal to Karrthus Dragon Tribal. I fun with Intet, but literally the only times I've won is when I get Sarkhan Unbroken's Ultimate off, and barely even use Intet's ability. Plus I just got a Descent of Dragons last night, and that plus Karrthus seems like a good fit to destroy everything my opponents have and then take control of all their dragons.

I suggest Mitotic Slime and creatures like Fallen Angel or Vampire Aristocrat or Bloodflow Connoisseur . Mitotic Slime alone can create 7 sacrifices a turn, and Meren feeds that engine very nicely.

Cheap spells like Accursed Centaur, Bone Splinters, and Altar's Reap work well, too.

Not to mention the only good non counterspell answer I have ever had was dual caster mage, but Im not even 100 percent sure dualcaster can actually copy overloaded effects.

Moxen are definitely more broken than sol ring. Colored mana is always better than colorless and costing nothing is ALWAYS leagues better than 1 mana. In competitive meta anyways.
Keep in mind, that you're gonna lose one colored mana to cast sol ring, which usually is important T1. Amount of mana doesn't matter as much as what kind of mana is it, you can have 10 colourless mana in your pool and still not be able to cast anything.

Deflecting Palm does just about the same for 2 mana. It's technically different since Palm prevents the damage and then deals it, rather than flat out redirecting it, but it's essentially the same 99% of the time.

I played more with friends over the week, and I feel I either need to increase my creature count to always present a board presence (with a lower mana curve) or I need to up my control aspects towards degenerate artifacts/enchantments and board wipes. I also need help removing cards from the main 99 to help make room for perhaps extra mana rocks, any extra creatures and possibly new draw power. Right along the top edge you can see the discoloration from where it became delaminated, in the lower left corner you can see where some of the ink wasn't evenly applied and left shiny spots, as well as at the bottom under the ampersand and along both sides. Is Meren at all viable in competitive Commander? I bought the pre-con way back in March and have been slowly building the deck up. Once I put Mike and Trike in I felt like the whole deck just became "Searching for my combo" just to have T&N to get countered or something similar. Should I just go back to a classical graveyard deck an reanimate good stuff or keep on the creature control with a combo finish route?

I feel it's super overrated, against ETBs(which are plentiful in EDH) it just lets your opponents get double value and it's 7 mana which makes winning on the same turn as casting it a tall order in any reasonably competitive meta. Still an excellent card and worth putting in most blue decks but has a much worse reputation than it deserves

Even if your colors don't have hard counterspells, consider other ways to make people not play that big finisher move. I played a Child of Alara deck the other day, he beat me with Crucible of Worlds + Oracle of Mul Daya + Exploration + Glacial Chasm to shut me down. By the time I drew into my answer the game was over. Such is the nature of a 100-card singleton format. Sometimes you are screwed by luck.

Also, if all else fails: multiplayer politics. Maybe you don't have the answer to the Cyclonic rift, but some of the other players are just as unhappy to see if played and maybe they have the answer...

Now, other than the obvious, there are some other cards that can untap Vorel for true degeneracy.

Thousand-Year Elixir, Vigean Graftmage, Crab Umbra, Pemmin's Aura, Magewright's Stone, Illusionist's Bracers, Gilder Bairn make the counters easily go out of control.

Magistrate's Scepter / Sage of Hours if your playgroup doesn't get pissed by infinite turn combos.

I'm working on a Queen Marchesa deck that's trying to punish people for playing creature-based decks, so I'm gonna recommend RWB.

It's mostly about abusing Rune-Tail Kitsune/Mark of Asylum alongside Repercussion and Pestilence effects, but there's some combat control in there too.

This guy isn't as good as Master Warcraft, but it's repeatable, and the drain is a sweet bonus.

He can be built budget, but honestly I think he works best in a creature heavy meta, or one with plenty of voltron. The way I play him, I packed the deck with effects like gravepact, kuons essence, dictate of erebos, plenty of card draw and life gain effects (blood artist, zulaport cutthroat, falkenreathe aristocrat).

The deck goes under the radar at my lgs because decks like Kaalia, uril, oloro, derevi, prosh, etc run rampant. It's incredibly grindy, and locks opponents out of the game. Its the most fun ive had with edh for quite awhile, the only issue is you need more than just him to make fuel for the sac machines. Also you need quite afew mana rocks/ways to draw a shitload of cards. Skullclamp has never done more work than ive seen in this deck. I'd heavily recommend it if you are into sacrifice shenanigans, although mazirek is also really cool and builds similar, plus you get green.

If you do build endrek, utilize delraich, demon of deaths gate, shriekmaw, and similar. Endrek basically turns every creature into SHITLOADS of value, and with the right boardstate, you can BTFO the entire table slowly with shit like deathcloud and pox,while holding onto things like smothering abomination

Remember that you get the thrulls BEFORE the creature enters, because it's a cast trigger. Abuse fleshbag marauder and merciless executioner, as well as slum reaper. Kuon ogre ascendant is great, and gray merchant is a must. Westvale abbey is fun.

One more word of advice. Pack in PLENTY of sacrifice outlets. Put in a bunch, and then add in more. The more I tested the deck, the more I wished I had instant speed sacrifice crap. Viscera seer, ashnods altar, spawning pit, you get it. Skulltap, altars reap, Vulturous aven for card draw. Umm. Oh, aetherworks marvel is fucking artifact of the year in this deck. There's a ton of deck specific targets that are great too. Hermit Druid, Courser of Kruphix, Deathrite Shaman, 99% of elves, Knight of the Reliquary, STE, Shaman of Forgotten Ways, Trygon Predator, Yavimaya Elder, etc

I like Sphere of Safety in a full enchantress deck, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna include it or Ghostly Prison.

Some people in my playgroup don't play around Rhystic Study and other taxing effects, so they'll probably get got, but the ones that do will just slow down and pay mana to smash me in the face. I'll probably cut them for things like No Mercy and Powerstone Minefield.

Yes, but as soon as you hit 7, endrek sees this and sacs himself. So if you were to run ashnods alter, for example, and you have 6 thrulls + endrek+ zulaport. Sac 6 thrulls, add 12 colorless to your pool, trigger zulaport 6 times. Cast anscestral statue, get 4 thrulls, when the statue enters, bounce itself, sac new thrulls for mana, trigger zulaport, repeat indefinitely. As long as you don't hit 7 thrulls endrek doesn't sac himself.

Alternatively, cast the card "conspiracy" (pic related) and name any other creature type. Endrek suddenly has no cap to the amount of creatures he can make because they are no longer thrulls. Go nuts.

Just know that Ghave is strictly better. Dag's ability is too expensive, and it doesn't do enough.

Well, it ends the game in a draw without a sac outlet. Without a sac outlet, removal for assault suit, or removal for Endrek, it draws the game.

A question for the EDH players.

Normally i play with a playgroup in a very casual way, we have a beer and discuss our weeks while we play MTG.
Now i'm living abroad for a couple of months so i resorted to playing on Cockatrice (online). I understand that the decks that are brewed online are a bit more competitive but sometimes i'm a bit shocked.

Narset decks that do nothing but ramp and then combo out by extra turns, blue decks with literally nothing but counters and 2 Eldrazi's, Winter Orbs, mass land destruction.

Yes, ofcourse these cards are extremely effective at winning the game as soon as possible. But the entire appeal for EDH to me are the complicated boardstates. The balance between fun and effectiveness. I thought EDH was a bit more about fun and a bit less about winning at all costs. Don't the competitive players already have Legacy and Modern to perform there?

Am i a salty bitch that needs to grow up? Are the players degenerate? Is ultra competitiveness something that belongs in EDH? Please share your thoughts

I consider EDH a largely casual format, but if you're going to play any game online with strangers, assume it's going to be extremely competitive.

In anonymous online games people tend to be dicks, see Hearthstone. If they play degenerate shit online, no one can stop them from doing so, mostly because they have no financial limit and vitually endless supply of opponents. If they walk in their LGS with a stax deck worth a small car, people will get fed up with their shit and focus them out every game until they actually get to play the game. That said, I'd rather suicide bomb degenerates than trying to win myself.

It really depends. I don't think there's a clear line in between competitive deck and casual one, in a sense that I like to build my decks being able to do something, and most of my decks get blown away by competitive players but I absolutely crush more casual players. It all boils down to synergy and what cards you get in your hand during the game. If your deck is designed well, it can be devastating even at super low prices, it's not always the money cards that make the difference.
