Is the vanilla Aleph starter worth getting if I want to play the faction but don't care for SP at all? Or should I focus on other smaller boxes first (like proxies, sophotect and co., devas, etc.) instead?
>>
>>49812753
There are hints of new ALEPH vedic releases in the upcoming months, possibly a new starter next year, so it could be worth to wait a bit if you can. If you want to play vanilla ALEPH right now tho, at least the dakinis in the starter are kind of mandatory from a gameplay perspective, everything else can be purchased separately.
Units that I would consider mostly "safe" to buy, meaning they probably won't receive a resculpt in the foreseeable future, are the REM boxes, Posthumans, the support pack, Marut, the latest Naga and Dasyu and obviously the brand new Garuda spitfire.
>>
>>49812935
>the dakinis in the starter are kind of mandatory from a gameplay perspective
I guessed as much. I suppose I might end up getting it anyways to practice painting on, because they're lumpen and potato-faced, and who cares if I mess them up.
>>
>>49812588
Man, I can't wait for the Zuyong box. I need my heavily armoured Chinese waifus.
>>
>>49813047
You could always proxy them for the time being and see what the future will bring. It's not a bad purchase for now, just remember that next year (hopefully!) we might have a better replacement.

Played in my first tournament in months, misunderstood the format and ran limited insertion lists against normal ones. It was fairly rough. Shikami are very fun. Came in 4th.

Is it common for stuff to be unpainted? of the 3 rounds, only 1 was fully painted, the other two only had 2-3 models painted and either primed or bare metal.
>>
>>49813262
Unless the TO specifies, the ITS documents don't require painted models.
>>
>>49813262
>>49813287
Also mentioning painting I still have no clue how I want to paint my Onyx shit.
>>
BASING: before or after painting the model?
>>
>>49814326
That depends. I use sand mostly, so it's basically mandatory to base before priming. If i'd use GW's technicals, I'd do basing after the painting.

Anyway, basing usually involves pretty dirty techniques, so I usually paint the base before finishing the model.
>>
What's the current ruling on Infinity Army vs Rulebook / PDF Troop Profiles?

I have always playing Infinity Army as the "correct" ruling of units but I went to a local meet-up recently which played lists as having to match the current N3 Unit Profile PDF (which as far as I am aware is slightly out of date).
>>
>>49814895
Infinity Army is the only legal listbuilding tool.
>>
>>49815119
How are you supposed to handle perceived "errors" in Army Troop Profiles?

For example I keep getting into a situation where people at my local don't want to play against one of my units who has a special rule listed in Infinity Army that isn't there in the PDF or Rulebook and the general argument is that "it's obviously a typo" etc.
>>
>>49815206
Find another LGS.
>>
>>49815227
I wish it was that simple... The people I end up playing with are pretty chill and almost entirely fair sports. Plus I'm pretty far from the next closest place that plays Infinity.

It is just this particular matter where we have had issue.

Our casual judge in the store is pretty lax about anything that isn't obviously breaking the rules or bad sportsmanship. While the opponents I have trouble with haven't found any source saying the Profile is incorrect; I also don't really have anything else to point to besides "Infinity Army is legal", which works for some players but not others who are convinced it has errors.
>>
>>49815274
CB themselves clear Army as an official source for profiles, even if there are errors. Just read any ITS document or the actual rulebook.
>>
I've been waiting over a year for a new JSA starter or resculpt of their basic dudes so that I can get into this game but everything that gets released is generic YJ or ISS.

Should I just give up hope?
>>
>>49815329
Cheers anon. I'll point out that line in the ITS rules next time this comes up.
>>
>>49815380
Just grab the new starter and either scupt or legswap the poofypants on. The kempetai and oniwaban hold up fine imo. The old domaru isn;t even that bad, but you should be able to mix it with either the new crane or zuyong.
>>
Is there a way to have an efficient Qapu Khalaki limited insartion list?
>>
>>49816073
>Khalaki

But even outside limited insertion there's been success with QK double TAG lists. Of course it depends on missions. More killy focused ones enjoy distraction Scarface and Iguana suicide run while your other dudes finish things up.
>>
>>49816073
Many.
>>
>>49816155
I have access to the KQ starter box, kaplan 5 man with a spitfire, odelisque box, support pack, djabanza box and red veil. What can I do with that?
>>
>>49813506
I quite like the default scheme, especially on the 'roids. Xeodrons in that scheme just make me happy. I don't have OCF, or CA at all, and I'm tempted to buy Xeodrons just to paint.
>>
>>49816244
why fuck does everyone use djabanza here? Am I blind for reading djanbazan?
>>
>>49816375
no Idea how it is writen in english, all I know is how said, and then have to rewrite it foneticly. It is not my foult that not everyone speaks the same kind of retarded quasi Iranian dialect, with stupid pronounciation.
>>
>>49816372
I dig it on Xeodrons and Overdrons, but my Unidrons and other dudes I just feel the red/black scheme doesn't look well.

Been thinking going more green on the muscles for the Unidrons and just deep blues for the metals. But then I'm stuck on colors for the eyes and other light up bits.
>>
>>49816461
But what language do you speak?
>>
What's the price range for a decently sized army in this game?

Without buying the absolutely cheapest or most expensive options and with enough extra units to switch up your army every now and again, meaning like 25-50% more models than a regular game needs.
>>
>>49817870
maybe $250 buying at internet discount but it depends
>>
>>49817870
120-150 dollars. Maybe less if you can hunt for good deals or choose an army with less dudes.
>>
>>49817870
Between 150€ and 200€ I'd say, depending on the faction
>>
>>49817935
>>49817949
>>49818297

I think its slightly more than that, because remember that you have to bring 2 lists to ITS - 1 killy, 1 for button pushing.

Until they fix their button pushing for something more sensible, this will continue.
>>
>>49818349
Is it hard to build a list that does both or does that depend on the faction?
>>
>>49818376
Your button pushing list will die against a killy list, and using a killy list in a button pushing game is just asking for your button pushers to get killed.

The standard competitive button pushing list has lots of models, AD, Camo, T/O, so they can just sit there and push the button without punishment. You can kill them, but you'll run out of enough orders to kill them, much less push the button yourself. They will barely be able to kill any of your models, but it doesn't matter, because they've pushed the button. They'll then swarm the end-game objective in numbers you cannot kill.

Obviously, they'll lose horribly in a killing game. Too many cheap models to be killed, and they can't kill your rambos. You want to bring smaller numbers in the killy missions.
>>
>>49818376
>>49818542
Also, to add on, your killy list will have killer troops full of killing equipment, either with high B weapons like spitfires and HMG, or good ARO weapons like missile launchers and sniper rifles. So you have very few orders to go push buttons. Plus, any button pusher you have will be targeted by their troops. If you bring a tough button pusher, you're wasting its potential as a killy unit. If you bring a crap one, they'll kill it as they know its only one of few that can push buttons.

ITS is a terrible system.
>>
>>49818635
>>49818542
so basically you could have said its impossible
Which is still equally stupid
What were the spaniards on when they came up with ITS?

WIP and/or recently finished minis?

My most recent is the Pheasant Rank, a Bao, and a Kanren. I have another Bao to escort the Pheasant girl, and a Su Jian - just need to figure out the color patterns for it, but recently I put all of the Infinity stuff aside to paint KDM stuff possibly for a Halloween(ish) game night
>>
>>49818983
Like that Kanren
>>
>>49818932
They wanted more people to use specialists.

Ironically, all specialists are used for are to press buttons. None are used for their intended functions.

20x20 is a much better format, but unsupported.
>>
>>49813103

>>
>>49817870
I spend $125 for 300pt Space Gypsies list without discount for a quickie ITS, so maybe around that. Plus $60 for extra diversities.

If you spend as much as >>49817935 then maybe you should get out of australia.

>>49818349
Two list are just for convenient than a must, but thats depend on the meta.

You can actually did a 10 orders versatile list, since you only need 2 specialist to do anything. All you need to do is bring 2 templates, 1-2 Hi-burst weapons, tanker and a skirmisher or two.

If you depend on high body count that much, then you should either play more games or get a nearby priest, or even cardinals to exorcise the kurwa within you.
>>

>>
>>49820218
Is the guide concerned mostly with airbrushes? Got a kid, so airbrush is out (too long to set up), so I use wet pallete. I want the mini though.

>>49820375
I had to google that word. Fuck off pol. Both /pol/ and poland. You've stank up our last 3 threads.

Also, the point was more of relying on camo/TO button pushers with useless weapons like combi rifles, than high body count, although bodycount does help a lot with pushing buttons.

Even a LI button pushing list will be polar opposites with a killy list. One will have nothing but useless AD, T/O or camo button pushers with combi rifles, the other will have stuff that actually does something.
>>
>>49820667
Kurwa is an old meme, since Poland has had a reputation for having spammy metas dominated by Ariadna. It's used as a shorthand to refer to order spam.

Hey, you're that guy from the last thread.
How's that skyshooting finger goin'?

You still have that old ass Guijia?
>>
>>49820789
you got the wrong guy mate. I did post 2 threads ago about fuck off pol, RV box is shit, sweet SWC zhanshi, but somehow my post got derailed into skyfinger. I didn't even knowabout skyfinger till someone posted some picture.

Also, I play Pan-O, not YJ. I like YJ, but the RV box is super mediocre, so I can't into YJ.

Dunno what old ass guijia you're talking about. The new one is sweet, the old one is shit, that's as far as I know. I only have the sweeter, newer TAGs, seraph and stingrays. I want a guijia, but same ol' RV box issue.
>>
>>49820789
You just enjoy starting shit, don't you mate? Alright, as the guy who originally argued with you about the hand signal/shooty gun pew pew I'm willing to get in a shitposting contest. But save it for the end of the thread after autosage kicks in, it's not worth wasting the bump limit on.

We're like the British. There is always something to complain about, and whatever it is, we'll find it.
>>
>>49820982
I play pan-o not YJ. Both haqq and YJ are very average in the box. haqq is basically 5 of the same guys + 1 nice mini. YJ is just boring. I'm not the only one who doesn't like RV, plenty doesn't.

I'm not bitching about updates, in fact, its weird how everything else new in YJ is good, except for RV.

>>49823909

In that case. Fedex mail would be better I think. But no tracking is available. Should be aware of that.
>>
>>49823909

what's 20x20?
>>
>>49823973
Ok I said reputable more what I meant was they tend to just throw your packages around. Speed over quality of service.
>>
>>49823976

Problem with fo is that guided munition is bad and few faction has a HGL. Otherwise, shooting with fo is more reliable option. Of course, their flash pulse is useful.
>>
>>49823976
An alternative to ITS, made by one of the Data Sphere blokes.

>>49824017
Eh, guided stuff can be good if you've got a hard to hit FO and a target that laughs in the face of combis. It's just not good enough to build an entire list around anymore.

And FO is still a thousand times better than paramedic. Holy shit that skill is useless. If I wanted to coup-de-grace my own dudes I'd play PanO.
>>
>>49823967
Those are the only shipping options to NZ.
>>
>>49820218
Is it just me or the sword looks off? It seems bent in the third picture, and way too broad and short compared to all the other jians we've seen unless it's supposed to go one feet into the ground. I'm not a fan of the severed (locust?) head too. Face looks ace tho.
>>
>>49824199
The blade is definitely a different style. It seems to be only halfway through the helmet and is very broad. I think the bending might just be perspective though.
>>
>>49824111
Once in a blue moon it does turn a game. And it's usually more order effucient than running doctors/helpers next to body. I don't even remember wgen I last used FO skill when it wasn't my classified. Button pushing and flash pulse are good deals, tho.
>>
>>49824111

Paramedic is good only for tohaa. their armor gives +3 modifier for medikit roll. also, linked paramedic shoots B2 medikit gun. if both are hit and one of those roll succeeds, the target wakes up regardless of other die's result.
>>
>>49824017
>>49824111
>>49824299

why does CB persist in running button pusher ITS then? They're not inflexible, unlike game workshop, they update it every year FFS.

The new Toni scenario is good to get slightly more TAGs into the game, but is still extremely marginal, that TAGs are still optional, whereas 4-6 button pushers is a must.

1 button pusher is plenty if it is survivable and you protect it.

I often leave a single model in HD or AD until turn 3 and just kill the shit out of my opponent turns 1-2.
>>
>>49826660
yeah which probably is ok for those steel phalanx and nomad playing dudes. How is an ariadna or Haqq player suppose to have their dudes survive facing the onslaught of superior factions without arihaqqus main good factor, which is model spam.
>>
>>49826660
I dunno about that, seems like real risky business with just one. I've gotten by with two but in my experience you should always be prepared to deal with any of your dudes dropping dead.

>>49826884
Haqq has plenty of good shit without spam. There's impersonation, good HI, a relatively cheap MBT, and a bunch of fine gimmick units. Not to mention the fantastic doctors.

Ariadna has a harder time of it since being cheap and disposable is actually their shtick, but it still has access to extremely killy units with the Kazaks, and sectorials can rely on link teams to deal with superior dudes. Also tactics, Achilles isn't nearly as tough after he's been set on fire by an infiltrating Grunt or Chasseur.
>>
>>49827032

Yeah I make all of my bases out of polystyrene sheets.

While>>49825762 is my 'go to' skintone especially for my SP. I mix in a couple of different ones for my YJ and Haqqislam.

The Kanren was done with Flat Earth, Cork Brown, and Basic Skintone. For the Pheasant I went with Mahogany Brown, Cork Brown, and Basic Skintone.

The difference is a bit hard to tell from my phone camera though, but for either formula you only need a bit of Flat Earth/Mahogany Brown mixed in with Cork Brown as the base layer, and gradually add Basic Skintone to the mix as you highlight up.
>>
>>49827120
What? Ajax has no such rule. He doesn't even have ODD.

My dude, it appears that you have been bamboozled. Somebody has been feeding you lies. There is only one kind of ODD, and it ceases to function when hit with a flame weapon. Ajax and Achilles don't get any special ODD.

I'd recommend reading bits of the rulebook or wiki so that you don't get fooled by liars in the future.

Yup, that one dude is so full of shit he could fertilise an acre. Flamethrowers are great for fucking up ODD because they don't require a to-hit roll (thus ignoring it) and disable it if the target doesn't dodge out of the way. And as the other anon mentioned, Ajax doesn't even have ODD at all.

Can you explain a bit how you make the bases? Is it a single solid sheet or do you glue a layer on top of the standard bases?

Yea, it's just a base glued to a piece, and I use a hobby knife and a small file for the lines. Sometimes, I like to use other polystyrene shapes and/or wireform mesh, and Vallejo Oxid Paste for texture.
>>
>>49831030
The effect looks really good and not too hard to make, gotta try this too. Cheers mate, thanks for the help

Just in case it wasn't also cleared up by someone else - I'm a big SP player and I sure as shit know that Ajax doesn't have ANY kind of ODD my man.

If you've been firing at that behemoth at -6 BS in your games against this douche I'm going to be seriously pissed off on your behalf.
>>
>>49827537
This 100%.

Cheap flamethrower units have been fucking with me making the most of Achilles against a particular Haqqislam player I play against quite often.

On a related note - any Aleph players here at the moment? Recently I have been struggling to justify the 2.5 SWC of Spitfire over Multirifle whenever I decide to run with Achilles.

The option of AP / Shock is always nice and tends to balance out the loss of 1 DAM and while I live that extra burst and the slightly extended range band... I'm finding at most I get one turn of shooting with it before Achilles frenzies and I end up putting him in total cover with Supp fire for my opponents turns.

The 2.5 SWC just doesn't feel worth that 1 extra shot.

"Hey Yu Jing players. We bumped back the Shikami, Zhanying Imperial Agent and Celestial Guard SWC Boxes for 2018. In their place, we'll release the Tiger Soldier Multi-Sniper and the Wu Ming Multi-Rifle+Light Nimbus Grenade Launcher."
>>
>>49832093

>>
Quick question.

How effective are minesweepers if minelayers can deploy their mines as camo markers? Would it be worth going through the trouble (and orders) to discover the marker and then convert it?
>>
>>49832184
But the Wu Ming Nimbus Grenade Launcher isn't even another female.
>>
>>49832428
People going minesweepers against mine heavy armies usually combine the sweepers with units that have Sensors + sometimes Sniffers that make is easier to discover the mines anyway.

The conversion of the mines themselves isn't actually all that beneficial unless they are located in a prime choke-point - in which case it may be worth taking control of it just to inconvenience your opponent.

>>
>>49834036

The quality is not consistent. Some parts are great, some parts look unblended.

He also needs better brush control, his lines are not too straight.

For example, the random white streak on his left thigh.

The left hand has not been shaded at all, whereas the right is.

Most highlights are blended in nicely, but some, like the ones on the lower legs are just white on blue

The TAG itself is nice, but the gun is terrible. Looks like he got lazy and just drybrushed metallics all over the thing.

Overall, its pretty good other than the gun.

Picture will look worse than how it looks IRL, because its much smaller IRL, so I think it'll look even better IRL.

Except for the gun

Ask him to break that arm off, strip the gun, and paint it black or whatever colour properly.

needing to pack a smaller volume of human inside makes it easier to armour without going over weight limits

the same rough logic was used for the russian T-34, they were mostly crewed by smaller people because they needed to make the crew compartment small to achieve the tanks low profile.

No problem. I will say that there is a bit of a challenge getting the models onto the base. You have to either pin them, or cut the slotta tab down into pins to get them on the base. Also I make each base, because for me it can be fun or I can do them mindlessly while listening to a podcast/movie....But it's super tedious work, it would be pretty easy to just make a few and make a mold for all of them.

>>49833463
Thanks. I try to keep them super simple to not detract from the mini.

>Airbrush
For bigger bases I would recommend it. Also for certain colors that need to be clean. Penny and the Yaoxie is airbrushed. The CG is dry brushed, glazed, and some weathering to hide blending imperfections.

Magisters are cheaper as a "HI WB".

>>
>>49840996
Don't do that. Toots is not very good even in sectorial, let alone out of it. Montesas, Sepulchres, FKs, Hospitaller doctors, Crusader MULTI rifles and Seraphs are pretty good in vanilla though.

I'd be ok with it if they were Keisotsu as long as it is clear that the Zhanashi are only those, and there aren't Zhanshi being other things.

>>
>>49841572
As long as they were clear about it and didn't try to fuck me around, sure. I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like the Kuang Shi models. I'd prefer conversions to outright proxying, but not everybody has the time and drive to do that.

>>49834036

I mean it's ISS so I can't have Zhanshi anyway and I have the models for everything else in my list that I can get without converting weapons. Speaking of MAS, I was looking at their shop just now and holy shit are their products pricey. Not talking about buildings and scenery, they're good looking and deserve the price, but come on €20+ for the set of silhouette templates? €18,5 for the three area templates?
I thought I'd save a bit buying directly from them, due to them being Poland-based and economics and shit, but it turns out that the prices are the same as - if not higher than - what I'd pay them at my local game store.
>>
>>49843798
imo it's easier to place her on top of a 40mm base in game when you activate the sapper rule. I still don't understand what are we supposed to do when a 40mm mounted sapper model stands up and strolls around the field, how do we reduce the base size?
>>
>>49844164
Friend of mine just chiseled his Nikoul down. Terrain he comes with and all. So while on the move he removes the rocky ring that makes him 40mm and puts it back when he digs in.

It's a fair bit of work, but it looks damn nice.

Working with what I have for a 300 point list. 2 link teams, with Teucer as a longer ranged threat, and an Ekdromos as an AD troop to insert to try and dig out embedded troops that are messing with my advance.

Can remove some of the characters for standard myrmidons and agema marksmen, if that would be a safer bet, though I sort of like the elite character feel it has going for the main linkteam. ITS format probably won't be a big factor for this particular list, as a consideration.

Yo guys, newblood here. Since everybody and their dog seems to start playing Infinity at the FLGS, I decided to join the fun when I heard a dude looking for someone to split the two-player starter with. So I took the Yu Jing part of the starter and bought a few more things that I thought looked cool. Also, I traded the ninja with the bow for a Su Jian.
Can something decent be made of this or have I already fucked up?
Currently in the process of working my way through the rules, so please keep the jargon and the abreviations at least a little on the light side for now.

>List of what I own right now
- Hsien with HMG
- Zuyong Invincibles with HMG
- Zuyong Invincibles with Combi-rifle
- Tiger Soldier with Hacker
- Kanren Counter-insurgency Group with Boarding Shotgun
- Su Jian Immediate Action Unit
- Zanshi with Combi-Rifle x3

As an aside, why are some of the names in plural?
>>
>>49845817
Seems like a bad trade with the Ninja. If you want to replace it you'll need to buy the entire red veil box again.
>>
>>49846321
Yeah, well, I don't like ninjas, but I do like mechs, so it seemed okay at the time.
>>
>>49845817
I see you're a man of refined tastes, your choice pleases the Dragon Emperor. I'm somewhat a novice too having started Infinity (and YJ) just a few months ago, but I'll give you my $.02 to do as you please.

I'm not sure how to feel about you giving away the tacbow ninja: it's a great specialist (especially for Imperial Service!) and is a "limited edition" so to speak, only available through the red veil box; adding to that it's the only "modern" ninja sculpt we got for now, so if you ever want to run it you have to wait 'till a general release or convert one yourself from the old sculpts. On the other hand the Si-Juan is an absolute beast and from a money perspective you made a very good deal, so there's that.

You have a nice variety of units to choose from, for now just tinker around the Army Builder and limit yourself to 150-200pts lists for the first 5 or so games. In your first matches you want to focus on the fundamentals of the game like order sequence, opposed rolls, AROs and line of sight instead of on capping objectives and scenario plays. Try to make lists with 8-12 orders at 200 pts for now; I know you're tempted to bring all your big guns but they're expensive and it's not the best idea to go under a certain amount of orders: in this game, quantity is a quality of its own. For the first games I'd advise you to stick to the models included in the red veil box as they're pretty straightforward without too much special rules; the last thing you want is trying to decipher the rules for the Kanren's holoprojector2 during your third game (yeah that was me). Anyway rest assured the models you have are all useable and will carry you a long way in your journey.
>>
>>49845817
>>49846470

Some advices I can give you:
1-Proxying is acceptable and even encouraged. For example, you don't have to always deploy your Tiger Soldier as a hacker if you don't want; or you can use the Zhanshi models to represent Celestial Guards (HIGLY recommended for now!). Speaking of which -
2-Kuang Shi box. They're a little old but they are the cornerstone of a lot of YJ lists, especially ISS. 5pts regular orders is the stuff dreams are made of.
3-Remotes are good! Most people starting out tend to disregard them, but you'll get a lot of mileage from a box of humble Yaokong.
4-Most people would tell you not to get involved in sectorials for now, but I'd say a sectorial is useful to focus a new player who may be otherwise overwhelmed by all the choice in vanilla. The fireteam rules are a bit advanced but nothing you can't learn with a bit of practice. Currently YJ has 2 sectorial, Imperial Service and Japanese Sectorial Army, with a new one purportedly coming out next year focusing on Heavy Infantry. There's nothing wrong in playing vanilla for now, but don't discard the sectorial option.

Now go out there and bring glory to the StateEmpire citizen.

Just a warning, the Antennas on the Hsien go upwards like this.

You definitely did a strange trade up for the Su Jian. Ninjas are great too, especially the tactical bow KHD as a specialist, but the Su-Jian is pretty awesome to pass up.

You're in a weird spot having gotten two Zuyongs in Vanilla, decent overall troops but they're likely to become better in the upcoming themed army that will come never.

The Zuyong HMG and the Hsien HMG kind of step into each other's toes a bit, so I suggest fielding one or the other.

Some of the names are plural because they're meant to be describing unit and regiments, while others are closer to describing individuals, and this was originally in Spanish so I wouldn't expect too much consistency in naming conventions.

You've got a decent start, IIRC on the numbers you should be at 150 for Red Veil, 30+ for the HMG Zuyong, 54 for the Su Jian, and some ~38 for the Kanren, although I think you may be over in SWC so you might have to drop one of the Zuyongs.

I suggest, the Yaokong Remotes box, and the JSA support box. Both excellent editions, decent models, and very useful. Then just play around with what you have trying some of the simpler missions.
>>
>>49847056
Can't take kuang shi without a celestial guard with control device in the same combat group...

Anyone else just barely expanding Red Veil?

I'm rather decent with Yu Jing, happy with what I have given that I already have an established base of supplementary models, but I'm at doubts of what I want for Haqqislam. I've already got the totally Rad Al Hawwa as a start because it's hard to go wrong with an infiltrating camouflaged specialist.

So here's what I am considering:

I like the Al Fasid, so I think I'll relent in buying the HRL.

From there, it's balancing the other units that attract me to the Haqqislam, on the one hand, I'm considering getting the Ghazi Muttawi'ah box as they seem generally awesome. I like the Hunzakut too so I might get that cutie too.

On the other hand, the Hassassin Fiday was one of the models that made me like Infinity, and she combines well in Vanilla with Saladin (plus I don't like the choice for hidden Lt or the crap Khawarij Lt option) but is that with Strategos beginner friendly? Then, in my testing lists I'm not running the Ghazis I wanted and I feel short on SWC. What do you think is a better plan?

Thanks for the advice, guys. I will try and build an army list once I've managed to wrap my head around how those reactions work.
That said, a couple of questions to your info if you don't mind.

>two HMGs stepping on each other's toes
Don't you want as many heavy guns as possible? I mean, it seems sensible. From what I understand you want to spend your SWC allowance on guns, a hacker and things like medics and such, right?

>proxying
I will be frank and say that I never liked proxies in other games, since I never could keep them straight. I don't plan on doing it myself, but if I must expect it, should I write them down or something when my opponent tells me what proxies what?

>sectorials
If I understand things right most of my stuff isn't part of any sectirial, right? So is it alright to ignore that for now? I am already getting a little overwhelmed, I must admit.
Also, I've been told in the FLGS that several people play the Japanese, so I'd like to avoid those for thematic reasons. Do I gimp myself horribly when doing so?

Also, the order system still seems kinda odd. While I am sure that it'll go away once I'm more familiar with it, the fact that one guy can just hover up all actions from his fellow soldiers, who stand around doing nothing while he berserks all over the table, seems like a very game-y concept.

Again, thanks for your help. I am really looking forward to all of this.

Its a great trade.

Going by CB euro prices, RV is $90, half is 45, SJ is 36, which means he only paid 9 euros for his RV side. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

If he wanted the ninja, all he needs to do is make the same deal, sell all the YJ stuff for at least 9 euros, and take the ninja, and he'll have turned a profit

Plus, the ninja is only ok, nothing exceptional.

>why are some of the names in plural?
Because they're referencing the unit as a whole, rather than an individual (which is why TAGs are listed as Squadrons).

Since everyone else has laid out the basics, let's answer this:
>Can something decent be made of this

Short answer: yes
Longer answer: not very well, though.

First thing's first, the Hsien HMG would really like to have smoke coverage. That means taking a Celestial Guard + Kuang Sh Control Device. She's an excellent unit because she also allows you to take Kuang Shi, which are very cheap and provide orders to power your expensive, powerful units.

In most lists that do use a Hsien, 2 Zuyong is probably a bit much (you'll want a Celestial Guard hacker for defensive programs to cover for that many Heavy Infantry). Which brings us to:
>Don't you want as many heavy guns as possible?
Not always. Because you are limited to a Burst of 1 in ARO, the HMG's greatest advantage is lessened somewhat if you take more than your order pool can handle; Yu Jing, more than most factions, has pretty terrible ranged ARO options to begin with. A list with a Hsien AND a Su Jian probably won't be taking that many more heavy hitters, as you'll need a lot of support (hackers, doctors, mid-field camouflage units) to keep them up and running.

If you do take a Zuyong with combi, take it as the Forward Observer profile, which has a useful ARO option as well as being a specialist.

You may also want to pop over to
>https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity/N3_Tactics/Yu_Jing
for a brief unit overview.

>>49847056
This is both a terrible list as well as a non-legal list.

What do you think about this crazy list? Is it somehow viable?
>>
>>49849061
>cont
>most of my stuff isn't part of any sectirial, right?
The Hsien, Kanren, and Su Jian are all in the Imperial Secret Service Sectorial, which has been getting a lot of love lately (because it was by far the least played faction last year). The Tiger and Zuyong will be in the upcoming Invincible Army sectorial.

>I never liked proxies
The issue is that many profiles in Infinity have no models (and some units have none either!) so in those instances you've really no choice.

>order system still seems kinda odd
Think of the other guys giving covering fire or whatnot, operating together as a result of discipline and advanced communications; in-game you can reduce some Regular order troops to Irregular (can only use their order on themselves) by putting them into a communications Isolated state.
>>
>>49849932
>down 1 order on the MB hacker for Fairy Dust, so that's 8 orders in the first pool.
>only 1 weapon in the entire list that's effective outside of 16 in.
>no catgirl doctor

Iunno, could be fun to play against, I suppose.
>>
>>49850011
Doesn't using a hack eject your ass out of the fire team?
>>
>>49850562
No. If your lead ends up doing an action that the other members of the fireteam can't replicate - like a Doctor healing someone or a Hacker hacking then the rest of the fireteam simply idles.

It's only if your fireteam lead does something that explicitly breaks being in a fireteam (like entering Supresive Fire for example) that it breaks.
>>
>>49850603
Yup, this was updated in HS, so that may be the confusion.
>>
>>49849943
>The issue is that many profiles in Infinity have no models (and some units have none either!) so in those instances you've really no choice.
Unless you are good at conversion work. I have a ton of weapon swaps, I've bought many spec-ops packs because I like to play WSIWYG. I absolutely don't force it on my opponents though.
>>
>>49849932
It's quite bad. You need an HMG in that link, and the two links don't work together that well. MB links can work well, but generally you'll want a bunch of sneaky special deployment specialist dudes.
>>
>>49852231
And to clarify, I mean some sneaky specialists to go alongside the Brigada link, not instead of it. Morans, Tomcats and a Bandit KHD (only one, don't want to fuck up the order pool too much) are good for supporting them even in killing-focused matches where you don't need specialists.
>>
>>49849932
Not sure it's worth losing 47points on a Massacre Haris when they're running on 3 orders in their own group.
>>
I've just got a bunch of the warsenal acrylic bases, and need some advice in prepping them.

My mini (Seraph) still has the metal nubs sticking out of its feet to stick it into its base. Do I cut out a similar sized hole in the base to slot the feet in? Or do I cut off the metal nubs and glue it directly on? Gluing directly on seems too unstable

Same for the auxbot, cut off metal bit or not?, plus the rest of the ice storm stuff, etc.

Next, they say use enmael primer? I only have the grey arcylic primer from army painter. What are the pros/cons of using either/or?

Lastly, they say paint with airbrush to keep etching detail? What do they mean by that? Is wet pallete not good enough?

The spitfire very much an active turn weapon. 1 order won't be anywhere near enough to feed it, and with the MB link around you probably won't need another big active turn killer anyway.

This has been my go-to Brigada list for a while. Corregidor has some spectacular cheap specialists, as all the ones here have roles other than just pushing buttons. Moran is good for board control, the Tomcat can heal any Brigada who go down, the Stempler provides very valuable anti-camo and the Bandit can fuck with enemy hackers and engage in thuggery.
>>
Planing to start up HQ with Qapu Khalaki sectorial, or maybe the vanial version. Haven't decided yet. What should be my next buy
I have two starters the red veil one and the QK one, support box, janissary box, hanzakut and a djanbazan with HMG. What should I buy next?

>>
>>49854558
Well at least it's not pulling out some Baryshnikov shit like all the recent AD troops we saw, but it goes to taste anyway.
>>
>>49849061
>Also, the order system still seems kinda odd. While I am sure that it'll go away once I'm more familiar with it, the fact that one guy can just hover up all actions from his fellow soldiers, who stand around doing nothing while he berserks all over the table, seems like a very game-y concept.

Think of the game as an action movie, and each order is camera time. There is stuff going on in the background, but the focus is on the activated unit(s). As others said, the other units will be poking out and giving covering fire, and other tacticool things, but nothing that would warrant any active screentime in a scene.

It does take a bit to get used to, but what it does is make every action matter, where in traditional games, if only one of your 10 guys could do something besides move, 9/10ths of your turn was boring.
>>
>>49854981
>each order is camera time

If tempt to play qk, al hawwa and yuan yuan is good. Sekban or Odalisk box is worth considering.

For vanila, look at mutawiah, naffatun, hassasin starter.
>>
>>49855757
I don't have the yuan :( We were spliting the box, but using my friends mom credit card for it, so he got him, the templates and buildings.

I think as much as I would like to play QK, the hanzakut is a model I like too much, to not play with it.
So with two djanbaezan, the smoke mutawiaeh will be my next buy. the nafftun are nice, but am never going to use 4, and there is no one here to split the box with.
Actualy, because there were more then a few red veils sold here. What do you guys think about getting a 2ed half. I could probably get it realy cheap, less then half the price of a normal starer box. And while more ghulam, may not be needed, or I think that more then 3 aren't needed, a second Tauregg or Faesid could be useful .
>>
>>49854165
I think you should take what you have to the Army Builder and make some 200pts starting list to learn the game with. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for being overwhelmed by rules. It will also let you figure out your preferred playstyle.

You could always just proxy the Hunzakut as an Al Hawwa if you end up with QK. Or you could play both sectorial and vanilla.

Why not use 4 Naffatun? You don't need to use them all in every list, but they're cheap and provide incredible utility for something that price.

Fasids suck up points and orders real good, I wouldn't put more than one HMG Fasid in a list, though one HMG and one HRL could work.

QK in a nutshell, based on comments from a friend of mine and local guys who plays HQ .

Bashi Bazook : great paratroopers. they are dirt cheap, but quite durable and lethal for their holo l2 and various weapons. SMG is enough for its job, but others are useful for specialized task.

alguaciles : economic order supply and FO. could be a Lt. if you have not enough points left.

Ghulam : cheap doctor plus. you could Ghulam link if you want to, but look at the other candidates first.

hafza : soild link selection. but 5 men link is not possible. it can meld up to other link team other than Kaplan and druze. also decent combatant and the best option for Lt.

Kaplan: good link candidate, but attractive choice when not in link. potent armor cracker.

Najjarun: generic engineer.

odalisque: can form core link. but haris is preferable. there are many shock weapons around here nowadays, which could be a pain.

Djanbajan: decent msv2 sniper team. 3 djanbajan+2hafza link is worth a look. sniper, hmg and marksman rifle are frequently taken. regeneration gives shock immunity. gross.

druze: can form up 5 men link. not bad at all, but completely outshone by superior Kaplan. it has the only KHD in QK, useful.

Sekban: cost efficient MI haris option. only costs 23pts for HRL. it's a steal.

janissaries: decent HI. the good thing is they can form 5 men link with 2 hafzas. Akbar doc is interesting.

Mobile Brigada: generic HI from nomad. has ok stat, but no link option.

Azrail: feel trigger happiness. might be a decent tank hunter.

Iguana: good tag. accompany druze KHD to blow up hostile hacker through its repeater.

Scarface: embodiment of cost efficiency. one of the cheapest TAG in Infinity, but far from the weakest. comes with engineer who also fights well.

Hawwa: QK's only infiltration camo. the sole camo AHD. worth a take.

Yuan Yuan: cheap, decent airborne warband with some lottery. you might put 1 yuan in your base to give djanbazan a smoke.

Depending on how things are scored and whether paramedics count, you may be at a disadvantage here. One of Haqq's main shticks is that they have doctors everywhere. They've got an infiltrating TO camo doctor, a HI doctor, line troop doctors with total AVA and a bunch of other doctors in between.

As for general advice, bring MSV. Haqq has access to a lot of smoke. Cover your snipers and big damage dealers, impersonation is very common.

haqq has no fast msv2 carrier nor fast flamethrower. so they can't kill Machaon well.

they do ok. But if you want a real power house go nomads, most powerful faction. Other factions are ok, some are harder and some are easier to play. Aleph is a good noob stomper list, and has some realy powerful set ups.
Although it would be nice to point out that this is not GW games, nomads being better is more a flexibility thing, not that their are eldar tier flowing on wings of win.
>>
>>49860395
Ah so the game is relatively balanced well for people who don't go over the top into it? Unlike GW and WotC
>>
>>49860248
All the factions are good competitively. Infinity is well balanced to a downright surprising degree, though there are still a few outlying units that are too good for their price or just bad. Haqq is big into dirty tricks and has by far the best doctors in the game, but also is a bit low tech in some ways. It has good light infantry, but it's not too specialised and has good and unique units of other types as well. A lot of irregular dudes as well.

>>49860395
Is Nomads being strongest a new meme? I never saw it around until recently, and in my experience it's just not true.
>>
>>49860248
Play what looks cool. Every army has good and bad options for different missions. You're not going to be able to pick your missions, terrain, and perfectly counterpick your opponents, so it's all about finding the right model to activate for a specific moment in a specific game in a specific mission on a specific board.

>>49860395
This guy has a decent idea flexibility makes you powerful. But sometimes high numbers on your FTF matchups make everything else flow from them. Nomade don't have the top end, nor do Haqq, so I depens on what /you/ want to be doing.

Plus, you gotta play what you think look cool. Otherwise you might as well be playing WMH. Infinity is meant for playing cool looking shit.
>>
>>49860045
There are things that Red Veil does better:

>Paper terrain is way cooler with the bridges.

>The smoke template is the right size

>There's a small part in the booklet over painting and assembly

>Al Fasid was described to have been snuck in a porta-potty.

>The Al Fasid is bigger an generally more useful as an exclusive Heavy Infantry than the fabulous father knight

>Ninjas with a tactical bow are cooler than Reverend Healer-Killers

>Drawback: Red Veil doesn't come with the two mini boxes that OP:Ice had that can double to reinforce your paper terrain

All various points to consider, but it's really becomes a matter of what you like the look, fluff, and appearance of gameplay most.

PanO Shoots, Nomads do board control and Medium Infantry, Yu Jing have a mix with decent close combat, camouflage, and Heavy Infantry, Haqqislam does light infantry, healing, and button pushing.

Overall, all the armies have good units to expand to, IMO however, Yu Jing has no role they can't field unlike PanO's lack of smoke for example.

INTRUDER ALERT
>>
>>49866135
>Wildcat (links makes them greater)
>Intruder
>Reverend series
>Grenzers

Sin Eater was also great when you play defensive
>>
>>49866135
Intruder is pretty much the yard stick that every other MI is measured against.

Custodiers are great hackers/LTs with ODD

Give a Moira a MULTI sniper and laugh at anyone trying to shoot back at you.

Grenzers are Diet Intruders.

Sin eaters are biological reaction REMs with mimetism.
>>
>>49866135
M8 I agree that Nomads aren't better than the other factions and I don't know where this new meme is coming from, but they have great MI. Intruders, Sin Eaters, Custodiers and Prowlers are top tier.

>>49866273
I think you mean links make them great. The only thing Wildcats are good for unlinked is to be a cheap lieutenant in JCC. HRL would be okay if not for the SWC cost.
>>
>>49866417
Sin Eaters:
Mimetism and Arm 3. They are considerably better than your average TR Bot and that sweet Burst 2 Sniper ARO is nothing to sneeze at.
>>
>>49866797
I'll sneeze at it, because it means I don't get that even sweeter B4 ARO, or even the B3 ARO that doesn't take SWC to field.

How many fireteam Duo can you take? Because I want to try my hand at maximum taskmaster fuckery.

>>49866797
Forgot to mention the ARM 3. I have such difficulty deciding between HMG and the MULTI sniper. Mk12 is for when Im out of SWC and I never use the spitfire.
>>
>>49866958
As many as your heart desires. I'd probably go for one duo of HMG+HRL and one of red fury+shotgun, though. That way the ranges don't get fucked up so much, and you don't really need 3 big active turn shooty mans if they're in duos.
>>
>>49867010
I wasn't sure if I wanted to go for more flexibility per duo or have them specialized and save on costs.

>As many as your heart desires.
I am going to need bigger point games.

They reuse a lot of really dynamic poses. Like this cross armed pose should only ever really be used once in my opinion, but I've seen on some other units.
>>
>>49865694
They can use long range, A/D or camo troops to off the 2 hackers, then hack the TAGs to death, or use adhesive ammo, and then call it a day.
>>
>>49867612
>AD
They can come and try, if they aren't hacked to death.

>Camo

Waste of orders, will get ARO'd second they come close.
And who said they'll come unsupported?

>Hacked to death

If they can beat the counter from cheap WIP 15 BTS 9 HD+ duo aka. BEST hacker in the game, then suuuuure.
>>
Is there a way to play this through Vassel or something?
Or do I have to use tabletop simulator ad imagination?
>>
>>49865694
Geckos are not real TAGs.
>>
>>49867931
For a corpocuck with enlargement fetish? Suuuuure
>>
>>49867931
Anon meant Iguana, Lizard, and Scarface maybe? You can fit a basic LT and KHD interventors with a pair of transductors and 13 points left over, pair of morlocks I guess?
