So what happens when an Obliterator is blocked by a little girl, do they choose a permanent and chop it in half?
>>
>>49686238

I've used it and she's worked great. The exile/draw mechanic is great for EDH, although you can't play lands.
>>
>>49686701

Im thinking about keeping it but that exile effect doesnt really help with synergy
>>
>>49686688
Think of it as an enchantment:
>2BB for your opponent to sacrifice a creature at either the beginning of your combat step, or the beginning of theirs, on each turn
>if they do sac a creature, put a counter on it
>if they don't sacrifice a creature, you get a 6/6 flying beatstick, with +1/+1 for each counter on it
Combined in a grindy deck, it shit's out value, particularly if you're running things that limit how many creatures your opponent can have on the battlefield. While one creature per turn doesn't really matter, after 5 turns that's 5 creatures. It pretty much requires removal as soon as it hit's the field, but most people are too arrogant and assume they can sacrifice creatures forever.

Long story short, they can't.
>>
>>49686686
talkin bout reaper senpai
>>
>>49686737
It's card advantage. What synergy does it not help with?
>>
>>49686755

But you could just be running other shit that makes them sac creatures way faster, stuff that effects every opponent too

>5 creatures over 5 turns is a lot

If a normal repeatable edict thing lives for 5 turns like grave pact or sheoldred, the game is over 2 turns ago
>>
>>49686783
My bad, but BBB shouldn't be to hard to get by turn 4 - 6 in a deck that is focused on sacrifice triggers.
>>
>>49686755
>after 5 turns
Either the other players have a bunch of token that they don't give a shit about, or it's not going to last 5 turns.
>>
>>49686827
I think they're saying they're not going to do anything with the exiled cards if they're not cast (a la hushwing gryff), but there are almost no cards that interact with exile anyways.
>>
>>49686827

I guess using the first +1 blind is not recommended anyways.
>>
>>49686854
especially when your second color is green
>>
>>49686857
>>49686847
Like I said, I understand the criticism, and it requires finesse to work, but when it does, oh boy is it good. You use it in addition to the edicts, because realistically they won't be able to keep up with the costs, and as soon as they can't, you're hitting them with something fuckhuge that's also of a lower priority than the ordinary fuckhuge beatstick that already ate their removal. Anything that uses a creature's power for shenanigans, like Pathbreaker ibex, loves this guy, and personally I've used him with three +1/+1 counters to oneshot a player with the 4 thrulls from Endrek Sahr, and an overwhelming stampede, not including any of the nonsense he enables in Mazirek or reanimator builds. He even showed up in my Ayli grindy control deck just to wear people down and draw heat.
>>
>>49686755
People made this same argument when RtR first released.
Spoilers: Desecration Demon sucked until the good token support and cheap undying creatures rotated out. And even then it took Erebos and Thoughtseize to make a good MBC deck he could fit in.
Paying four mana for a creature that spends all but one of your main phases being tapped is not a good investment.
>>
>>49686975
You realize that this is a spoiler enabled board right?

Also ignoring
>standard
he's incredibly strong with anything to untap him. Instill energy is my personal favorite.
>>
>>49686969

I don't think he requires finesse to work, and his max potential is really low, a card that fits that description better would be as nauseam, have to be smart with it as its resolving and build your deck around it, but the results are absurd

If you're trying to sell him you should be playing up his strentghs which is that he has no drawbacks as a turn 3-4 play

He's okay, you're just overselling his upside
>>
>>49686925
Using the +1 blind is just fine. I always do.

People seem to have this fear that the one card they need to win (that I guess they can't play this turn for some reason) will be exiled forever each time. That just doesn't happen. What does happen is you have access to more cards than you otherwise would have in a color that desperately needs it. Very rarely have I ever been sad that i used it.
>>
>>49687016
Yes, I remember when spoilers were finally enabled here. We even have a sticky about it. Using the spoiler function would have detracted from my snarkiness.

But yes, I'll admit the thing gets phenomenally stronger with an untapper involved. I can't deny that.
>>
>>49687016

If he has something to untap him that defeats the whole purpose, then nobody will ever sac a creature and grow him

He's just a 4 mana 6/6 flyer at that point, which is great in another format, but not high impact in edh, he's just gonna die to the next board wipe after getting one or two swings in, which may or may not get chumped
>>
>>49687106
>>49687120
>>49687023
Like I said anons, it requires finesse. Not quite as much as ad nauseum, but if you drop it, durdle for a few turns, then throw instill energy on it after your commander has eaten a path and a swords to plowshares, you're going to be in pretty good shape.

I admit, I'm overselling things, but it's a niche card that I personally find very fun.
>>
>>49687151
Can't really hold that against you, we all have our pet cards.
Mine's Agent of Masks.

>>
>>49687318
Don't put it in your Oloro deck, it's really not that good. The main reason I use it is because mine is foil and signed by the artist, who I once met at a prerelease in San Angelo.
It never gets any work done.
>>
>>49687355
That's a pretty cool explanation, I wasn't sure if there was some sundail of the infinite control lock using it, but realistically someone will deck out before they're going to get pinged to death.

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/legion-of-heaven-2/

So Ive made some changes to me deck after hearing some anon's suggestions in the last couple threads of some days. The day is playing alittle smoother, however I still have durdling problems here and there and I think the problem is needing to add afew more ways to Draw cards such as Mind's Eye, Tormenting Voice, and possibly Wild Guess.

My question here is what cards in my deck are expendable for such changes? Also what cards on my Maybe list can I just not worry about, and which should I consider getting to help improve the deck. This is my more budget/casual deck for EDH because I like Angels...I could make it Angel tribal, but I think what this deck is trying to do and its fun to me and my playgroup.

All help is appreciated.

You have three draw cards in your entire deck, including a tutor. No open the armory, no assemble the legion, no cycling, literally nothing.

Like I said originally, if you read what I wrote, pick 8-10 pieces of card draw, 8-10 pieces of ramp, and build your deck from there. You can run an artifact subtheme and abuse your looting effects for better card draw, otherwise your deck will be a slow durdling mess forever.

It seems to me you have more money than sense.

Its why im requesting help. To be fair it is what we try to do here with everyone.

I dont have a lot of options for card draw and whatnot and Im simply asking for the most common options.

I have gotten an Open the Armory from my LGS, a Faithless Looting, Tormenting Voice, looking into getting a Mind's Eye.

Im sure there is other tutors I should be playing, however as Im adding more cards to find equipment, I feel like some of my Equipment is going to get removed.
>>
>>49687566
It doesn't matter whether you had to pay for them or not at the moment you built the deck, but budget deck is more about what it's worth. If a friend died and his mother gifted me his 2000+ euros or dollars all foil consistent storm deck, it still wouldn't be budget, when I paid literally zero for it.
>>
>>49687479
>Altar of Dementia

>>
>>49687606
10 equipment is fine. I would remove spear of heliod before any of those. Honestly the best draw engine R/W has besides skullclamp is Land Tax + Scroll Rack

I think you have an inordinant amount of fattys in a deck that cares about swarming with little dudes. My advice would be to reduce your 6+ drops and add more utility creatures like solemn simulacrum/burnished hart/goblin welder

Welder on his own can generate you so much value if you include some of the typical cards that go in his kit
>>

So, a friend of mine is starting a Phenax build, and we came across Eater of the Dead.

We were wondering, does it need a creature in a graveyard to be able to activate its ability or not? If not, it can start milling with phenax the moment it can tap, otherwise it requires creatures to be in the grave already, so I thought it was a fairly relevant question.
>>
>>49688083

Yes, it needs a creature in the graveyard, since the ability is targeting something.
You can tap it and mill for 4 and hope you hit a creature and go from there.

>Bazar Trader
+
>Humble Defector

What is the correct order and targeting of these cards to let you keep them both, and draw two.

t:Humble Defector > t:Bazar Trader (Target you)?
t:Humble Defector > t:Bazar Trader (Targeting Opponent)?
t:Bazar Trader (Target you) > t:Humble Defector ?

This isn't a trick question, I'd like to know please. Maybe explaining the stack as well so I understand?
>>
>>49689128
>tap Bazaar Trader targetting Humble Defector and yourself
>while said trigger is on the stack, tap Humble Defector to draw two cards, give it away to someone
>let bazaar trader trigger resolve, gain control of defector again
>>
>>49689128
I don't think it works that way.

>t:Humble Defector > t:Bazar Trader
You don't control humble defector when it changes ownership, this doesn't work.
>t:Humble Defector > t:Bazar Trader (Targeting Opponent)?
This gives your opponent something in addition to humble defector.
>t:Bazar Trader (Target you) > t:Humble Defector ?
You give your opponent something, then give them humble defector.
>>
Scenario that I will likely face tomorrow:

>Skullbriar about to pop a player
>Hardened Scales and Corpsejack are both out

In which order do I stack the triggers for maximum +1/+1 counters?
>>
>>49689155
Oh, and it doesn't even work.

Because Bazaar Trader says "you control", when the trigger resolves, you do not control the defector, so it fizzles.
>>
>>49689128
>>49689155
>>49689162
None of these work because bazaar trader is worded in such a way that you have to control the permanent when his ability resolves to do something.

I'm sorry your cute trick won't work anon. I highly recommend going using one of the links in the sticky (magiccards.info) for its common card rulings and using a different forum altogether for rules questions. /tg/ is filled with people bad at magic and you will often get multiple answers to any ruling, so you will still have to investigate to figure out what is correct.

Skull, then harden, then corpse
Skullbriar: 1
Harden Scales (1 x 2 + 1)
Total: 3

Corpsejack (3x2)
6

Skull then corpse than harden:
Skullbriar: 1
Corpse: 1x 2
Total: 2

Harden: (2x2+1)
5

Honest answer? Skull, than corpse, than harden seems better almost always.

When you target defector with the trader first, then tap defector, bazar traders ability fizzles is how it actually works.

(1 x 2) + 1 = 3

It's pretty broken combo, but as far as combos go, I guess it's tame.
You can tap to mill four.
If you get a creature or there's already a creature, you can exile it and mill again.

It's even more reliable against multiple opponents.

If you're targeting the enchantment with his ability than it will come back and you choose what to attach it to.
>>
>>49689587
It'll enter the battlefield and the game will require you to attach it to a legal target.
If there are no legal targets, it will go straight to the graveyard.
On an interesting note, auras that enter the battlefield without being cast don't target whatever you stick them to, meaning things with shroud and hexproof are fair game.

This Monday if my play group is right.

For over powered, this bastard.
the deck that used him exploited his ability to the max:
>Windfall, Jace's Archivist, etc.
only Leovold's controller can draw more than one card
>Teferi's Puzzle Box
you put your hand at the bottom of your library and only get one card back
>Anvil of Bogardan
Discard the card you draw
>Any card that makes players draw more cards
completely mitigates all cards that makes anyone draw cards and also gets to the point where no other player can draw cards

this happened to me with three separate decks, Dragon Aggro, Daxos enchantment, even Krenko goblin rush. the only thing I could to beyond the 5th turn is cast my commander and even then it quickly becomes useless.

I really hope this guy gets banned, he is everything I hate about control.
>>
>>49689587
303.4f If an Aura is entering the battlefield under a player’s control by any means other than by resolving as an Aura spell, and the effect putting it onto the battlefield doesn’t specify the object or player the Aura will enchant, that player chooses what it will enchant as the Aura enters the battlefield. The player must choose a legal object or player according to the Aura’s enchant ability and any other applicable effects.

it comes back attached to whatever you want, note this can get through shroud/hexproof
>>
>>49689620

Skullbriar's ability is the trigger, the other are replacements which don't use the stack, you simply choose the order they apply
>>
>>49689587
Fun fact, auras that come into play without being cast don't actually target anything, it's only when you cast it as a spell that an aura targets. They just attach to a legal permanent.

So that hexproof Narset that's being an asshole? Enchant her with Pacifism.

>>49689730

You have that right

To be more precise what you have is 1 trigger, put a single counter on skullbriar, if and when that trigger resolves, two replacement effects will apply to it, and you may choose the order those effects apply, if you choose hardened scales to apply first you get 4 counters, if you choose corpse back first you get 3

>>49689362
>>49689422

>>49689259 was correct, the most you can get is 4, but your question is flawed. You don't stack the triggers, since the only trigger is Skullbriars. Hardened Scales and Corpsejack are replacement effects, so you choose the order that the replacement effects occur. So your options are:

>Corpsejack sees a counter should be put on SB, so double are put on instead. Hardened Scales sees two counters should be put on SB, so 2+1 are put on instead.
Total: 3 counters
or
>Hardened scales sees a counter should be put on SB, so 2 counters are put on instead. Corpsejack sees 2 counters should be put on SB, so double are put on instead.
Total: 4 counters.

For future reference, replacement effects contain the word 'instead', and don't trigger so much as they modify how something happens.

Myriad (Whenever it attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may create a token that's a copy of that creature that's tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker he or she controls. Exile the tokens at end of combat)

The copies of aurelia won't trigger extra phases the step they are brought into play and then are exiled at the end of that combat step, if you really want to get more steps that way, you'll need something like sundial of the infinite

sieze the day, aggravated assault, hellkite charger + Sword of Feast/Famine and hell even Breath of Fury are probably less convoluted

How the stack works:

Successfully paying a cost of an effect puts the effect on "the stack".
Whoever has priority can put something else on the stack (like a literal stack of cards) or pass priority to another player. When all players have passed, the top effect of the stack resolves. Imagine taking the top card (the latest effect) off the stack.
Repeat this process until the stack is empty.

>601.2g
>>
>>49691998

you have a bunch of combat trick little instants that seem underwhelming at first glance, but given that you have a decent density of them i assume that they've been doing well for you?

it seems to me that cards like that need to be pretty redundant to have a high impact, you want to draw 1 every game, preferably 2 or 3, so even though im not a fan of something like boon of erebos im hesitant to say you should cut 1 of those

curse of the forsaken seems pretty weak and definitely worth cutting for kambal, same cmc, kambal is likely to give you many more triggers

gelid shackles also seems like a pretty loose include with no snow covered basics

overall your deck seems to be lacking card draw, im curious if you've noticed an issue there in testing? your mana curve is extremely low to the ground, which is good, but if you lack card draw, then it can be a problem because each individual card is fairly low impact
>>
>>49686672
>I'm too poor to afford urborg
>>
>>49692064
I had a lot of trouble sticking karlov as well as getting through with him, so i looked up a lot of the more commonly played protection spells and put them all in. i haven't had an issue yet but time will tell. I do think I have a lot and am willing to cut down on them to include other cards, but I'm not quite sure what the right amount is and which ones to cut.

Like I said, curse seems weak but it's actually very powerful here with karlov. The reason I wouldn't switch it straight out for kambal, which is why I mentioned it here >>49692041
since it seems like a natural switch, is because I really need my three drops to immediately give me value. Kambal will get more triggers, especially in a multiplayer game, but curse getting 1-2 more triggers the turn i play it is a huge swing and makes loads karlov for the exile ability by itself if i also opened the lifelinker (turn 1 lifelinker, turn 2 karlov swing with lifelinker, karlov trigger 2 counters, turn 3 curse karlov lifelinker swing 2 more triggers for four more counters). Curse is normally a pretty bad card so I can see questioning it, but it's like a best case scenario card in karlov. it just always works with him which helps consistency a lot since the deck has an issue drawing lopsided hands where there's not enough of something or too much of another.

gelid shackles was just the cheapest pacifism effect i could play with heliod's pilgrim, as I don't care about my life total generally speaking and it does the important part of letting him get through, but it is a part of that package so it'll get cut once I get my equipment and tutors, which will also allow me to cut protection spells as well.

and yes, noticed lack of card draw but I haven't much looked into fixing it yet. not for any particular reason other than not having any idea what to use. read the bones for example is literally only in there because i felt i needed SOME sort of draw, and underworld connections is part of the pilgrim package.
>>
How hardcore/competitive is your meta?

My friends are usually pretty competitive but we don't delve too much into mld or infinite combos
>>
>>49690123
Besides, there's massive amount of triggers on the stack. If he draws half of his deck, he has already lost. Keep in mind, that for each draw there comes 2 more cards, which equal 4 more cards, which equal 8 more and so on. The amount of triggers is exponential, and unless among the few first cards is the instant speed removal, or if they have a sac outlet, they're gonna lose.
>>
>>49692143
pretty casual, but one person is pulling ahead and starting an arms race.
>>
>>49692142
>>49692064
and whilst we're on the subject, im also looking to include authority of the consuls. This is a thing I kind of have an issue with Kambal though, is that the trigger is dependant on my opponent. Kambal is less of an issue since noncreature spells is a lot more than creatures but it feels like a real thing where I could be playing and authority triggers maybe once or twice if im lucky. It may be worth it for the early making opp's creatures tapped to get the karlov through though so idk.
>>
>>49692143
my meta is pretty competitive. thats why even my fun deck which is >>49691998 is being built to be pretty tuned, though its a work in progress still to get it there. plus i find a lot of fun in finding the best way to do something, even if that something is a stupid lifegain voltron deck.
>>
>>49692143

combos are definitely allowed in my meta. if you combo off really early people might be salty but it just means that next time people will be gunning for you

MLD is less popular in my meta, mainly because RW isnt very popular. there is a UW stax deck that runs geddon and sunder and other land hate but the deck draws a lot of hate and doesnt have a high winrate so the meta isnt against MLD
>>

>>
>>49692143
Pretty competitive, as most of the meta splits into combo- and stax players. Lists are pretty tuned with abur-lands, fast mana and so on. The games are intense and really fun because of the high power level, but sadly I play less powerful combo and stax, so it pretty much requires me to luck out in order to win. Can't afford crypt and legal moxen. Or timetwister.
>>
>>49692325

Hm, I'm thinking maybe blind obedience? it just occurred to me as nice as a card it is, its in a weird spot. even if i cast it turn 2 and hold off on karlov to extort him, he doesn't get the counter that turn, and as much as i like extort i cut all the others quickly since i didn't like having to pay extra mana to do things. Blind Obedience doesn't fit my curve very well in other words.

>nissa has been retconned from "green supremacist dindu" to ditzy girl that does the jitterbug with trees

>>
>>49692279
Your curve is almost 4, less than 30% of your deck can be hit by dark dwellers, Id say skip it.

Plus, wouldn't it be better to replace instants and sorceries with ETB creatures in Sedris? I don't play him so I don't know.
>>
>>49692399
and only 17 cards can be hit by Dark Dwellers
>>
>>49692378
>Cut obedience and feat of resistance
>The new curve
It's because i try to always plan to cast karlov turn 2 so i play fewer two drops than 1 and 3 drops but it still triggers me.
>>
>>49692399

the number of hits is much lower than 30%, i would consider it an auto-include if 30% of my deck was a hit

the reason im considering it is because all the hits are pretty important

buried alive
demonic tutor
5 looting spells
2 wheels
2 removal spells
2 ghostly flickers
2 reanimation spells

generally youre right that you want most of your stuff to be ETB creatures, thats why i have 32 creatures, 31 of which have etb abilities

however i still need to set up which is why the other half of my nonland cards are mana rocks, looting spells, and other stuff to make the etb creatures plan work

side note i think the mana curve is very misleading because im almost hardcasting any of the 6, 7, or 8 drop spells besides cyc rift, also there are mulldrifter, shriekmaw, and ingot chewer which are really a 3 drop, a 2 drop, and a 1 drop in my deck, they arent 5 drops

I pulled one and might put it in my artifact deck. Seems alright, but it's basically a Commander's Sphere without the draw option or Darksteel Ingot without the indestructible protection. The tradeoff being the option to attack in later game when you've got plenty of mana.

Hmm, I need help making this work anons:
>brago, strionic resonator, sol ring
>archeomancer out with a rock that generates U and enters untapped
>Portent in the yard

Now here's where things get silly. I want to flicker archeomancer infinitely, which is easy enough, and recur portent a fuckload of times. Why? So I can literally reorganize their entire deck and put all their lands on top in a giant clump. Now how do I avoid decking myself at the beginning of the next turns upkeep like I have been doing, or is it just unavoidable and something I'll have to deal with?
>>
>>49694681

You can run spirit of the labyrinth
>>
>>49694798
Nice, you're thinking for me, which I like, but I think that would fuck me more often than it would help, because my deck is all about cantrips and card draw.

Now, in my head I was theory crafting something where I send an Eldrazi Titan or whatever into the yard, and that acts as my safety valve once it gets discarded, and normally that would work with a discard outlet in b or g, but w/u doesn't have anything like that, as far as I'm aware.
>>
>>49694681
You could just flicker Mesmeric Sliver infinitely and not have to jump through all those hoops.
>>
>>49693916
Kinda wanna try him, but I doubt it's gonna be that useful even when I have a shitton of mana.
>>
>>49694681
Laboratory Maniac, obviously. Run Teferi (the creature) to avoid spot removal. I think Azami's Familiar also stops you from decking with its replacement effect.
>>
>>49694861
>Mesmeric Sliver
Yup, perfect. Absolutely perfect. I'm going to start running that right now.

>>49694875
>Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
Nah, not my style. I don't have enough money for that guy, and to be honest with myself, I'm aware of the hate this is going to generate so I have a few sneaky things and a bunch of wraths to help out.

>Azami's Familiar
Now that looks nice for a few decks, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get it out, outside of magical christmas land. The rocks are more believable since I`m running a full suite of artifact tutors, which means I really only needed to hit Archeomancer and tutor the rest, but I don`t think a 6 drop do-nothing is going to be very viable. Totally humiliating? Absolutely. Viable? Not so much.

Yes, you do, because if you don't, you're going to wind up with a bunch of unplayable bullshit that doesn't remove anything very well.

Before I help you out with suggestions, who is your commander?

>>
>>49695152

Definitely not as good as before but definitely not shit

Giving your opponent two cards is a bad downside but that just means you need to be conservative with it

Something that can hit any nonland permanent at instant speed, including indestructible or regenerating, planeswalkers, etc and get rid of them semi permanently, is really strong

Calm your tits anon, I know what vindicate is but it's still a touch expensive. >>49695081
This one somehow slipped my mind, along with Unexpectedly Absent. Thanks anon!

Wow, guess I'll be running Assassin's Strike since literally anything is good removal if it's in esper colors. If you want to be an unhelpful faggot just don't post anything instead of waving your dick around as if you know what you're talking about.
>If you don't [run specific removal], you're going to wind up with a bunch of unplayable bullshit that doesn't remove anything very well.
You've actually got it entirely backwards. If I run specific removal I'm going to wind up with Doomblade and Dismember in my hand when my opponent has a Caged Sun in play. Flexibility is worth an increase in mana cost, especially with the high amounts of ramp and generally slower games of Commander.

You're thinking about it the wrong way. That gives you an excuse TO order them because they aren't expensive.

I tried making Rashmi, I just keep on accidentally going infinite when any other player on the table plays something that generates mana.

Last time it was infinite mana through rite of replicationing a Lotus Cobra and flickering a land over and over.

The game before that it was a Doubling Cube that I kept creating clones of indefinitely.

One game someone played an additional turn card, chancellor of the spires and infinite clones later, I win.

The best way to play Rashmi that I've seen is just straight up control. The first counterspell each turn draws you a new card OR casts a free spell, if you want it to.
Then on your turn you just drop a witness, archaeomancer, mnemonic wall or something similar to get back your counterspells, and keep on building your card advantage until you hit critical mass and just blow up with a Clone Legion or by looping a clone spell (Supplant Form, Saheeli's Artistry, Rite of Replication etc), panharmonicon for added ease.

Usually I win by making a thousand Acidic Slimes.

Has anyone found a niche for this cold bitch? She seems like on eof the rare mardu commanders that isn't completely shit (Oros) or a one trick pony (Kaalia, Zurgo, Alesha).

From what I see people usually build a very bland pilowfort deck. Any of you got some spicy tech for her?

Some ideas I have:
>Soltari visionary - works both with getting back monarchy and a repeatedly killing enchantments.
>Thornbite Staff/Viridian Longbow - Using her/token's deathtouch to kill creatures
>Ophiomancer - give syou a deathtouch blocker every turn, or someone to get monarchy back
>Delaying Shield - turn combat damage into life loss, so I don't lose monrachy.
?Conjurer's Closet - can be useful with loads of ETB triggers.

>>
>>49695613
That's how I imagined it. Have metallurgic summonings to pump out creatures while at it. Also Jace's Sanctum, cause cost reduction and scrying is never wrong.
I wanted to play Reclaim here and there, but so far I've only got counterspells in my graveyard. Which is kinda useless if you already use a counterspell.

Funnily enough, I've also played against mono blue yesterday and he used glove to double Island's mana. Was pretty rad.

>>
>>49690092
You don't really need them unless your playgroup is off the fucking chain. I run an Overlord deck, and my foil Overlord cost me like $5 at a local shop. I like to throw out Ward/Diffusion/Virulent and maybe Telekentic/Flying Slivers if I'm feeling threatened. Shifting is also excellent. So is the one that makes Slivers Shades. >>49695814
Price limits are pretty fucking stupid, since price jumps around and has nearly nothing to do with the power of the card in EDH.

If someone runs a card and it jumps in value will they have to cut it? What if an expensive card gets a reprint and drops? What if a card is expensive only because of a legacy combo that isn't even in the colors he is running?

Price has nothing to with power, supply does. If all the cards you complain about were reprinted as Commons in the next set it does nothing.

All that limit would do is make poorfags and newfags feel better until he wins another game anyway.

I built my own version of a Rashmi control/low permanent count deck. Runs decently but the name of the game is "protect Rashmi at all costs."

Guess it's kind of like Talrand? Here's the list:

Has anyone tested Dynavolt Tower? What about Seal of the Guildpact? What would you cut in my list to fit those in, if you would at all?

Warstorm surge is also a pain. It allows her to simply kill a creature every time she's not the monarch and marchesa's on the field.

Wouldn't just allowing proxies do the same thing instead of doublechecking every card on tcgplayer whenever anyone casts a spell?'

Also, who decides the value of a card? Is it the lowest price you can find it at? The highest? What if all your cards are heavily played, cutting their value heavily? Is it alright to use those cards, even though some foil commons would be above the 5$ mark and unplayable?

If anyone does this price limit shit I am now genuinely curious as to how you figure out whats OK.

plz respond

I'm currently running Seal of the guildpact and it works better than expected. Suddenly makes Mystic Genesis a 3 mana spell.

Ran Dynavolt Tower in the prerelease, where it was pretty neat. Pinging for extra dmg in UG was useful. I'm not sure, if you can use it to the same extent in Rashmi though.

Niblis of Frost should also help your control, no?

I think you're right about proxies being the same in terms of evening the playing field in the minds of the poor losers

However people like to play with real cards they own, even if those cards suck

I think it's easy to just go with tcg mid, if prices are really fluctuating you can go honor system and just say you can run anything if it's tcg mid price was $5 or less when you bought it or opened it

Me and a friend tried to make a deck for 30$ each. We are Swedish mtg players thus we use a site called SvenskaMagic (Swedens Magic) and there you can make a decklist and it calculates an approximation of the cost based on the market. We are casual players so we don't give af about condition and stuff like that

I think I'm finally done modifying it. Gahiji Token Swarm

That doesn't really help the problem then if you aren't facing down richfags but people with old collections (like me). I started playing EDH and picking up staples for EDH when they were less than a dollar. I quit playing for like 3-4 years and now some of these prices seem absolutely absurd. Woodfall primus got a reprint and its still 7-8$, Cyclonic rift was less than a dollar, don't even get me started on shit like Arcane Denial and other older cards I picked out of common/uncommon boxes at lgs.

I imagine that other than 7-8 cards I spent less than 5 dollars on every card in my decks. Doesn't change the fact that they are all 1-3k decks now.

pls, I have no playgroup

All I am trying to say is that card prices fluctuate a lot. The deck you built for 30$ could be worth 300$ next year if some of the cards spike, or someones 600$ deck could go down to 100$ if cards get banned in other formats, stuff gets reprinted, etc.

All I am saying is that I can't see a rule like this lasting long. It will last exactly long enough for someones general or other integral card to jump in price and make their deck illegal.

Just build her as a superfriends deck. People will attack them instead so you'll keep the crown.

I think the point is that you should have to neuter your decks if you want competitive games with your poor noob friends

It doesn't really matter that you got all these expensive cards for cheap
>>
>>49696772
Oh, I 100% get neutering decks for playing with friends, do that shit all the time. I just think price is one of the most retarded metrics to use. Like, what, I can't make a Halfdane deck just because he is old and worth more than 5$? But I could totally do absurd shit with deadeye navigator because he is only a buck?

Thats what seems silly to me /rant.

Thanks, that is a great card

Unfortunately super friends is a bit out of my budget.
