Ok, given it a few days and edited what was necessary. Criticisms given were too few bodies and not enough AT. The real question I want answered is should I get rid of the Medusa to add an extra Rapier and have 80-90 spare points to add shit, or is it fine the way it is?

>How the fuck did they ever publish this? Was the editor on leave or something?

The editor may well enjoy erotic gay fanfiction? But I'd have labelled it as such, not as a normal BL novella.
>>

How much time will that be?
>>49608847
>How the fuck did they ever publish this?
Because that Fulgrim is a meme. The only way to survive reading that part is regarding it as "it's going to be a Fulgrim is Slaanesh episode".
>>
>>49607183
I'm not a huge fan of the Achaeron. Tried it a bit. It fucking wrecks shit. But it gets flanked and killed too easily as that (not torrent) flamer gets it too close to enemy lines by requirement too fast. If you're playing safe you're not flaming and wasting points.

I've just gotten a castigator for hordes, so we'll see how that goes.

>>
>>49607792
NEVER take lascannons on dreadnoughts. Besides the fact that lascannons only work in large numbers, the weapon upgrade is way overcosted on dreadnoughts

If possible take a 3rd laser destroyer rapier instead (which is only 30 points more than giving a dreadnought a TL-lascannon. Kek) and either take 2 shooty weapons or 2 Dreadnought CCW on the dread.

>>49607887
Bubble-wrapping is the best way to keep them away from your valuable units. Augury scanners can be more situational (interceptor bolters aren't gonna stop a leviathan coming down)

Aw, shoot. That just gave me an awesome idea for a narrative campaign.

Both sides in a campaign are traitors, one must be Word Bearers and/or Chaos Daemons, and the other any traitor legion. The non-WB traitor legion would be freaking out about the Daemons and started fighting against them and the WB, for reasons.

I dunno. Something. It was a lot clearer in my mind.

Anyways, it would be a good reason for two traitor legions to fight against eachother without the lolloyalisttraitorsamiright? stuff.

World Eaters being the unstable nignogs they are attacking the other traitors for no reason but because muh nails. The survivors of that attack then go to another Traitor Legion, ask for supplies, and then get into a fight because they go a no.

How would you protect your artillery squad from deepstriking combimelta Cataphractii? What if flyers with lascannons appear and kill your Siccarans before they even have a chance to fire back? The Calth debacle kept the UMs at bay, and the Lion loves lynching Night Lords. Possibly he had to help Leman out after the Wolf Cull.

>>
>>49610330
well but the Empire Secundus happened after Calth, so the three were hanging out in Macragge, THEN Sanguinius left for Terra, why didn't Rowboat join him?

I always thought Calth kept the Ultras occupied, but now the timeline is so crowded with odd happenings that the overall timeline seems strange.

Is there any way every single list can take these things into account at 2000 points AND be fun AND fluffy?

Every time I write a list out, someone always points out something I can't do with it, I change it, and then someone else tells me I can't do the thing I just changed.

Ultimately seems like there's no way to preempt every eventuality and be everything proof and still play what you want and enjoy yourself

>>
>>49610409

>>
>>49610469
That's my point, everyone sperges out when a list isn't perfectly specced or waac'd out to oblivion

I'm taking what seems fun and fluffy and thematic, and to be honest my list as it looks right now seems solid. Maybe I'm just being a noob, but most people in my meta are running themed lists, not spamming deathstars
>>
>>49610101

Also the fact it was cap'd as spoilers made it so much better
>>
>>49610409
Then just make a list and play what you want.
>>
>>49610409
the most important part is that you like your army, that you enjoyed painting the models and enjoy playing them.

A friend of mine used to have a valhallan guard army, no tanks and barely any elites.

He just loved to zergrush people with his little guardsmen, he didn't win a lot of battles I know of but he still had more fun doing it than any metagamers I ever played against.

Ultras and Wordies going to work on each other at Calth and that being the reason they didn't show up at Terra was so much better than all the Ultima fuckery.
>>
>>49610798
>because it makes sense why the DA, UM and the BA didn't make a beeline towards Horus
wasn't that already explained fairly well, though?

smurfs were on the other side of the galaxy and got surprise attacked by the word bearers

bangles and dangles weren't going to run off and fight all of the traitors at once because despite how badass they are that would be stupid because they already know what happened at istvaan
>>
>>49610860
They got half their force destroyed; true- but then why didn't they rush to Terra? Sure, Roboute fought Alpharius but why didn't he drop shit and head directly to Terra with the Lion is a gaping plot hole.

At least now they have an excuse

>>49610849
You really can't; because a full third of the Legions have something to do with it
>>
>>49607033
Mars Pattern Warlord Titans are nice and all, but are they going to release the full Lucius Pattern Warlords?
>>
>>49610896
Looking at it in the big picture you could argue that the smurfs only lost half their strength, despite originally being twice the size of a regular legion too.

Most legions lost at least two thirds of their force, some were practically wiped out.
>>
>>49610896
>but then why didn't they rush to Terra?
because the heresy didn't take that long. By the time they finished up in ultramar, the siege was already taking place. That is, literally, the reason why Horus went so far as to send the smurfs over there before hitting them with the largest legion at his disposal.

>Sure, Roboute fought Alpharius but why didn't
that's in the scouring, not the heresy
>>

no, you might need to brush up on your old fluff.

In the old fluff Alpha Legion wasn't at Terra because they were engaged in delaying tactics with Guilliman and his sons
>>
>>49611217
I have.

Some truly sad and touching moments; especially between Corax and Russ; but the ending is the biggest ass pull ever; second only to Angels of Caliban (also written by Thorpe) and he makes Corax into a huge asshole
>>

>In the old fluff Alpha Legion wasn't at Terra because they were engaged in delaying tactics with Guilliman and his sons
nah

>However, it is not thought that Alpharius was blindly following Horus, for he seemed to have his own agenda. He relished every battle against loyalist Space Marines as the ultimate test of military skill. Again and again the Alpha Legion proved they were the match of the other legions. They started going out of their way to find Space Marine opponents, and inflicted stinging defeats on the loyalist White Scars at Tallarn, a Space Wolves company at Yarant and other legions at dozens of smaller outposts. Well before the Warmaster's forces reached Terra, the Alpha Legion had become separated, but continued to wage war on all that they came across. Even after the defeat of Horus on Terra, the Alpha Legion continued on unchecked, apparently inventing objectives with absolutely no connection to the rebellion as a whole. They moved into the galactic east towards, whether by coincidence or design, the Ultramarines Legion. The Ultramarines had been posted on he Eastern Fringe when the Heresy began, and were racing back to the Segmentum Solar, enraged at the treachery of their brother Space Marines and the Warmaster's connivance to keep them too far away to affect the outcome. It is possible that Alpharius deliberately sought out the Ultramarines, that he wished to confront Roboute Guilliman in battle and prove the superiority of his tactics. Other theories suggest that the Ultramarines tracked down the Alpha Marines, seizing the opportunity to be revenged on one of the Traitor Legions. But, however it came about, the two Space Marine legions met in battle on the world of Eskrador.

>While Kor Phaeron set his men upon Calth, Lorgar was leading the rest of the Legion against Terra.

also before you mention "but then the ultramarines would have the numerical advantage"
>Upon its surface, the Word Bearers fought the Ultramarines to a standstill. The traitors held superiority in numbers, weaponry and brutality, but the Ultramarines would never give in. As driven as the warriors of Lord Kor Phaeron were, they could not dislodge the Ultramarines, many of whom had once called the planet home.

>>49611572
we're talking old fluff here, not black library fluff
>>
>>49611605
Nah, that requires disregarding FW lore, which is not something I'm willing to do. Old lore can be tossed.
>>
>>49611582
Alright.

The book starts 6 years into the Heresy; with all of the Raven Guard being jaded and vengeful against the traitors. Horus has already penetrated into the Segmentum Solar; and his other brothers are not far behind. Corax finds out that he plans to invade Beta Garmon; which is only several light years separated from Terra; so with its fall Terra's Siege is almost ensured. The IF captain and the custodes attached with him urge him to either head back to Terra or to Beta Garmon; Corax tells them that he still wants to proceed with the guerilla warfare. Also there's mention of the Ruinstorm abating; but it's merely a throw away

They meet up with a SW watch pack that was originally sent to watch over Horus but since he turned traitor they have been fucking around. They retrieve an specially forged ax from a storage world for Russ; tells Corax that the wolf lord plans to assault Horus head on and if he wants to they'll be waiting for them at Yarant. To add to this, the raptors are mutating at an advanced pace and one of them feels guilty for having killed the watch pack sent to watch over Corax (which happens in Raptor). He tells Corax and he's disturbed

The army guy that had the vision that led Branne and his men to Isstvan to save Corax dreams of wolves being slaughtered by snakes, and tells Corax this. Finding out that the only reason he was saved was because of a warp dream; he sends the army guy and his entire battle unit to Beta Garmon; which is an almost certain death. Then he gathers every non-RG and RG librarian and sends them to Terra before heading to Yarant to save his brother

1/2
>>
>>49611630
that's fine

Dude told me to brush up on my old lore, and I showed him that I did not.
>>
>>49611734
Gotcha. My apologies.
>>
>>49611702
On Yarant the wolves have been absolutely decimated; and Russ lies gravely wounded. The Raven Guard perform a combat drop and throw back momentarily the combined WE, TS and AL offensive. He finds Russ on the edge of conscience; and has a break down while craddling his head and reveals his thoughts that all of them are no better than the Raptors; i.e. monstrosities forged of warpcraft and genetic manipulation. Russ tries to stand up but passes out. The Space Wolves are fatalistic and are preparing for a last stand; and refuse to be evacuated

Corax makes the decision to stay and die with them; and orders the Raptors to do as well. He hands off command to Arendi, and tells them to head for the Throneworld. Then he goes full nuclear; finally freeing all his inhibitions and slaughtering an entire battalion of World Eaters singlehandedly. Suddenly he changes his mind and realizes that his death here will change nothing; and convinces the Wolves that this death is not a noble one; but rather a far better death would be to take the fight to the traitors.

The epilogue happens a decade after; with Corax initiating the Raptor purge and begins with Hef; the guy that slaughtered the watch pack

It's got a lot of solid and sad moments; but it shits the bed at the end
>>

>>49611900
By sending the army dude and his cohort to their deaths simply because he confessed to warp dreams and exiling the non-RG and librarians to Terra
>>
>>49611900
>>49611925
That seems in line with a primarch who still believed pretty strongly in the Imperial Truth. About on par with Dorn's reaction to what Sigismund did.

>>
>>49611942
How is it on par with what Dorn did? Dorn simply told him off in private because he refused a direct order; this guy saved his and his legion's life and he thanks him by sending him to his death

>>49611945
It's two fold.

One's how Corax deals with his internal issues after a good old slaughter of World Eaters.

The second one is how desperate everything seems; with one of the legionnaires even mentioning that punching in through the traitor fleet was the easy part; to somehow evacuating the wolves and themselves
>>
>>49611921
I don't follow.
You want me to download the entire mega directory to put on mediafire?
>>
>>49611984
Dorn disowned Sigismund. To an IF, that's way worse than death.
>>
>>49612007
And Corax sent tens of thousands of men to death because their commander saved his life; how doesn't that make him an asshole?
>>
>>49612047
Corax has done that several times, Gate 13, sending most of the remaining Terrans off to die in the ass end of no where.
>>
>>49612090
Gate 42 was justified because the Terrans supported Horus' plan to charge the guns; therefore they should be the ones to do it.

Sending legionaries on far flung crusades isn't anything unusual.

>Anti AV14 Armoured Ceramite
>Anti horde

If you're footslogging, you should consider bringing
>Anti artillery
If you have artillery of your own, you should consider
>Anti-deepstrikers
And possibly some anti-Air.

You may not be able to fill them all in a single 2k list, so focus on fluffyness first and on power levels second, and beware of Mechanicum monstrosities. Not saying they're 30k's Tau...but you don't go at them the same way you do against marines.

As for how you can get some of that and the specifics of the UM...that's what the Tactica page is trying to be for, so give it a read. That is in the OP.

We roll Ambush for the deployment and Onslaught for the mission. I take the role of the ambushed, and he takes the ambusher. I deploy shooty marines in some of the ruins in the field's middle, alongside my 5-man autocannon squad. A 15-man despoiler squad stares out at a 20-man squad of Word Bearers from below a ruined arc on my right flank, and my Spartan, carrying a payload of Red Butchers and my Praetor, protect my flank from a squad each of Gal Vorbak, Ashen Circle, and a Land Raider Proteus (being run empty, with lascannons just fulfilling an anti-tank role). As well, the Bearers are fielding a Vindicator and Contemptor Dreadnought in the lower left corner of the board, roughly next to a Dread of my own.

Word Bearers go first, and don't do a whole hell of a lot apart from parking their ashen circle up about a half foot away from the front of my Spartan, messing around with witchcraft, and engaging in some ranged skirmishing. My turn comes around, and I move my despoilers within a 6 inch charge of the Word Bearers blob. My Spartan immediately manages to immobilize itself on a piece of terrain, but happily my Butchers were able to disembark within charge range. They charge the Ashen Circle and kill them to a man, losing the Praetor in the process. On the other side of the board, my Dreadnought kills the Vindicator, and stares down his Word Bearers counterpart.

The beginning of the next turn goes on about as you'd expect; the Word Bearers tactical squad fires off Fury of the Legion (and some Psyker bullshit), finishing off the entire Despoiler squad save for a lone Apothecary, who proceeds to run away. His Contemptor charges at mine, shooting off his Kheres Ass Cannon in the process, but doing no wounds in close combat. They'll continue fighting it out 1 on 1 for about 3 turns, hilariously.

On my turn, the Red Butchers get a charge in on his Gal Vorbak. They die after about 2 turns, killing every one but his champion in the process. Overall, they got well more than their points worth back. Shooting is lackluster; my autocannons and tactical squad combined do about 2 wounds to Zardu Layak, who had invincibility cast on them earlier. A squad of my terminators deep strikes in (my Praetor rolled Void-born on the warlord table), and camps my objective in his lines after his Tactical squad runs away from them to go claim theirs.

Zardu Layak works his way through one of my Tactical squads in one turn and my Autocannons in the next, and summons off a unit of Bloodletters afterwards. His tactical squad works its way across the back of the board behind my Spartan (which got immobilized on top of his objective, and had killed his Proteus a while back). The duel between the two Contemptors finally ends; mine dies, but immobilizes his in the process; he's left permanently staring up at the objective I'm just barely holding with my terminators, unable to shoot them. Good times.

On my turn, I finally kill off Zardu in close combat with my Tac squad, and march them as fast as they can go away from the Bloodletters following behind. Luckily, they're hampered by some forest terrain, and I can beat a fast retreat towards his objective to deny it before the game ends.

Anyways, my last Tac squad successfully runs away from the Bloodletters, shooting down most of them before claiming their ground on the Aqulia. The Word bearers squad bears down on them after taking care of the immobilized Spartan (which, in retrospect, they shouldn't have been able to do; we thought Krak Grenades were strength 8). They have a Chaplain with them; the Word bearer's last HQ. He kills off the lone Apothecary (RIP) with his disgusting warpcraft, and charges the squad into my Tacticals. He challenges and fails to kill my sergeant, and combat sticks. The next turn, his bloodletters charge in, and I finally loose combat and break; however, I kept them far enough off the objective for long enough that they weren't able to claim it before the game was over. He piles in his units about 4 inches away from the objective, and I win 8-3. It was a pretty fucking good game.

Auric comment, how about running Pride of the Legion? Your sniper vets are good and got buffed, your termies are probably the best in 30k and have access to shields. Dunno what you're looking for specifically, but Fists are flexible.

Go through the legions, look at their pretty pictures, and whatever makes your dick tingle the most is what you play. Who cares if Blood Angels don't have unique units yet; they have special rules, so roll with it and trust in getting legion units later.

ANON'S SUPER SIMPLE ALPHA LEGION RECIPE:
1. Basecoat with Runefang Steel
2. Coat armor panels in a layer of Guilliman Blue glaze. Work it into the recesses. Add another layer of Guilliman blue to build it up.
3. Add a single layer of Waywatcher Green glaze onto the blue.
4. Pick out silver details on the armor with Runefang Steel. If you're using MkIV BaC marines, these will be the bonding studs, torso cables, pauldron edges, back of the knee, the little area of the backpack right behind the model's head etc.
5. Hit these silver areas with some Nuln Oil.
6. Edge highlight with Runefang steel. Focus on the arms and legs.

Wa la! Decent looking AL that are super easy.

To put this to bed, once and for all (with new OC donut steel research) - Albia is in the UK, more specifically, it's Scotland.

The fluff specifically refers to Albia 'towering in the North Atlan wastes', which rules out Albania, and means it's on the North-Atlantic coast.

Alba is Gaelic for Scotland, and still used today.

Finally, and most importantly, the phrase 'caught red handed' is Scottish, first cropping up in legal documents to refer to people who poached from their neighbours. People like the border reivers, or raiders, who were known for crossing over to England to steal cattle and raid farms, often at dusk.
>>
>>49621026
To be honest it's more for the love of the model than its effectiveness. I know I could get rid of it and have a squadron of siege tanks which would do more damage to an opponent but then I wouldn't have the lancer running down a flank and challenging a primarch or death star unit.

We razed planets so that the Imperium could rise from their ashes, but your very cause is a fool's endeavour. So, if you allied with the Warmaster to be freed from a tyrant who misused our legion, seeking for freedom I tell you: you just went from bad to worse.
>Our legion represents the power of Destruction, from that power a dedication to Duty is born, from that dedication the Foundations of the Imperium are laid, and in laying the foundations by removing what once was we Build and Safeguard the Imperium like no other, That is Who We Are. THIS IS THE UBREAKABLE LITANY, AND MAY IT BE FOREVER SO.
>Being an Iron Warrior is never surrendering, no matter the odds, to the bitter end. Ferrum Honore Veniat, traitor. No one can save you now.

Your nonsense means nothing before the absolute will of Lord of Iron, you traitor.

Iron is the foundation of all Imperia whether you enthrone a corpse on top of it or not.

>Forgiveness.
Now that is unfortunate attempt of humor.
Iron does not forgive nor does it seek such frivolous concept.
