The Frostmourne, Arthas' ancient blade - older than any of us,and a thousand times more deadly.
The legends claimed that the blade was possessed, and thrived by devouring the souls of its victims.
For all our bravado, we knew what it meant when Arthas drew the Frostmourne in anger - it meant you were dead.

Garrosh wasn't a bloodthirsty maniac from the start. He was a much more mellow and honorable orc in Outland, and his whole drama was that he had issues with his father and questioned his validity as an orc and a man. That is a legitimately interesting character. Then they turned him into "lol, old gods, racism, muh pure horde" raid boss.

But also, there aren't plans for any of this, btw. Multiple blizz folks have said time and time again that stuff like this exists to hold people in and get them talking, and maybe as a jumping off point for later. Don't think some group of writers agonized over these with painstaking attention to detail.

As much as I love the Jaina Dread Lord meme, this is more probable. And remember, Kul Tiras is still off the radar, but it's people keep sprouting up. I swear Kul Tiras is the writer's second to last ace in the hole for when they run out of ideas

>Jaina becomes the new Cho'Gall for the Old Gods and finds her old home.
>still lacking an effective leader, Kul Tiras can't do shit as Jaina takes over and aims to finish what her father started.
>point guns at the horde for revenge, and guns at the alliance for spite

And the Broken Islands were just the small scraps of land around Suramar that got left above water after Sundering (plus the probably large part that Gul'dan rose to the surface to access the Tomb of Sargeras). Now it's an area of comparable size to Northrend or Pandaria (although given that WoW is heavily scaled down, it's probably not supposed to be that big in lore; it's just scaled down less than the major continents).

>>
>>49478151
Yeah, as time goes on, Blizzards has to expand the gameplay area, even if its lore size is rather tiny, as the Broken Isles are supposed to be.

I wonder if they'll ever grow the balls and the funding to expand the original continents to a larger scale.
>>

>I wonder if they'll ever grow the balls and the funding to expand the original continents to a larger scale.
One of the few things that would open up my eyes to WoW for the first time since tbc.

I imagine it would face opposition for people who see WoW as the true representation of the setting, rather than an adaption to make gameplaye more feasable, like most people wouldn't want to spend days to move from town to town so of course it needed to be shrunk down initially or more focused on a smaller area.

There's a lot you could do if they reworked the older areas to make them bigger.
Like Redridge mountains could be kept mostly intact, but it could be referred to as Redridge Valley, and then you have a higher level zone called Redrige Mountains that mostly surrounds it.
Then Deeper Darkshire or Deep Elwynn Forest. that are inside those zones.
That way you could make the old areas still seem familiar to the people who have played the mmo for years.
>>
>>49478889

I did know about Sabellian, but none of this Ebonhorn guy. Cool thing, though; I never liked all this "all black dragons are eeeviiiiiil" thing. It's nice to see some lore pointing to their eventual restitution.
>>
>>49479105
They explicitly say that the eggs were corrupted and the ritual only saved one of them.

I was hoping it would be a female because having it be another dude kind of takes away from Wrathion, especially since Ebonhorn is such a no-name minor character.
>>
>>49479767
>>>/vg/
>>
>>49479610
I think it's less "all black dragons are eeeviiiiiil", and more "black dragons are more susceptible to corruption", mostly due to living underground, closer to the Old Gods and their maddening ever-whispering. Since dragons are alive, conscient and sentient even while in the egg, it's easy to twist their minds, and it apparently needs an extraordinary effort to purify/cleanse/keep out the corruption.

>Sabellian: had to go to another bloody planet to escape N'zoth whispering sweet nothings in his ear
>Wrathion: Is technicall a chimera (genetically spaking, not in terms of ingame species), being born of an amalgamation of black dragon eggs purified by Titan technology unearthed in the Badlands
>Ebonhorn/Ebyssian (with that name, shouldn't it be a female? Although I'll concede Black and Green dragons do not seem to have standard naming conventions like the other flights): Purified while still in the egg by the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, a powerful Titan relic, and even that only saved him out of a massive clutch/nest.

What I meant was that it seems all black dragons were necessarily affected by Deathwing's own corruption, without a single chance of cleansing or redemption. To me it seemt too pushed in. I know it makes sense lorewise, I just dislike it,that's all.

Concerning Sabellian, how comes he just abadoned Deathwing's projects and stayed in Outland? I mean,he was born with the Old Gods taint in him, and I don't think that all his hatred for Gruul and sons could overcome the call of the Twilight Hammer and his own father (even more considering Synestra visited Outland to recruit the Dragonmaw for Deathwing's cause); so or he's not completely corrupt, or Blizzard has swiped him under the proverbial carpet and forgot about him.

So, that first quote only shows up if you're playing as a race afflicted by the Curse of Flesh, right?

Because obviously that would make no sense for Goblins (kajamite-mutated Pygmies, who were there before Mimiron), Night Elves/Blood Elves (two strains of mutated Troll), Trolls (natives), Orcs/Draenei (aliens), or Tauren/Pandaren (descended from Yaungol/Furbolgs who probably came from Niuzao/Ursoc so they're another Wild God race and were always flesh)?

Hey guys. I've got a problem that I was hoping you could help me out with.

See, a friend of mine is running a Warcraft campaign, and I'm playing one half of a goblin duo. We're called Flotsam and Jetsam, and we are junk fishermen.

Now, my character, Jetsam, had a harpy wife in his backstory but the DM doesn't see it happening.

I tried to convince him to let me and he agreed to it, if I can convince him that it could definitely happen.

The problem I have is that neither Flotsam nor Jetsam have left Booty bay. Is there anyway I can make this work?

Now you have an explanation that makes sense lore-wise AS WELL as having a plot hook.

Forsaken already show some Vrykul in the back, BElves already show NElves towards the beginning.

No Avianna the first Harpy and creator of the rest of them was simply a bird used to relay messages among the wild gods. Eventually being around such powerful beings changed her and she gained intelligence. She was eventually blessed and powered up to a full wild god. When she was killed in the war of the ancients her realm Ghanir (the afterlife of all flying things) was destroyed with her. This caused her servants the harpies to kinda go insane.

If I used that unit I would explain it through the wildhammer supplying elves with gryphons.

I'm looking at what alternatives you could have in an alliance army. In the first war you had a human crossbowman for the ranged unit, in the second an elven archer, in the third a dwarven rifleman.
I imagine if the wildhammers supplied the ranged units they'd could be throwing stormhammers.
There are less options when you consider who can supply the heavy air unit though. like what would the human alternative have been during 2nd-3rd war. Best guess I have is ironforge or wildhammer still supplying gryphons to humans and then a human mage on the gryphon or a human knight on it.

I was wondering if the old titan worlds could remain.

So like if the titan in azeroth was born, azeroth the planet would still remain in some shape.

I was thinking that it probably is more like an egg, but armadillo could work as well.

I'm not sure I understand how a single central continent supports that though.

I guess I kind of want the planet to remain so signs of potential past civilizations and possibly even intelligent life could remain on the old titan egg.
If that was the case then some changes should still occur I think, like maybe some magical energies from the planet disappear.
Draenor apparently doesn't have a world soul, but it has life, so life doesn't have to disappear.

I was reading that the elements on azeroth were so chaotic, because the the world soul consumed much of the fifth element, spirit.
Draenors elementals aren't as chaotic, because spirit wasn't consumed.

Without titan interference and old god interferences I guess Azeroth would've just remained as an elemental battleground. Life probably not being able to take root.
I think that might be the case for most titan worlds. They were just elemental battlegrounds until the titan matured. Depending on the strength of the titan, since apparently azeroth consumed so much of fifth element because its exceptional strength.

The same way you abandon your other legendary, better than anything equipment. The next expansion's blues are much better and the item's unique abilities stop working.

I'm still waiting for a "canon" PC of each race to come into existence, as in like the canon paladin that led a garrison and got the ashbringer was actually dwarfbeard holyslut, and they continue the story as the paladin who did all the class hall shit in Legion.

Otherwise it's hard to reference all the very important shit that happens in class halls when there isn't actually a specific canon character who did all those things, and we can't continue on with what happened there.

Such is the way of Warcraft lore. Everything that is good and decent ultimately gets corrupted into clinically retarded bullshit, including the lore itself.

It probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things to the old gods. Her giving you hints and toying with you doesn't gain or lose anything.

But that's the thing, it's the events that ruined her life, she wasn't fucked up from the start. Besides, all women go wacko when they turn into spinsters
>>
>>49503876
The crazy happened long after Arthas was dead. And her father. And 95% of Lordaeron. And her mentor. And her whole city-state. And Kinndy Sparkshine, her apprentice. And Rhonin. And Krasus' prophecy telling of how she'd go crazy. And Kalec trying to remind her that flooding Orgrimmar would be just like purging Stratholme.
>>
>>49503208
There's a dwarf warrior in Azsuna with Thunderfury. He's part of a shaman quest to revive Thunderaan to get the plane of air's shit sorted. The dwarf is also dead to some generic fel hound rare. Dumbass should've got new gear.
>>
>>49503983
but the purging was objectively the best solution.
>>
>>49504190
It was a setup, there was no good solution - the undead were on their way to ruin Lordaeron the purge only delayed the inevitable. In reality loss of Stratholme would be a lesser loss than Arthas turning on his own nation, but that's hindsight for you.
>>
>>49504225
Stratholme was one of the most populated cities in the world.
If they hadn't purged it, the scourge armies would've been greatly bolstered and they would've been able to push further.

Like 95% of high elves would've died instead of 90%.
Or Gilneas falling.
The The scourge might've been able to push itself to the Thandol Span.

Or the burning legion would've been bolstered enough in Kalimdor that the night elves, horde and alliance would've been overrun.
>>
>>49504225
more like plot contrivance.
People act like the purge of stratholme was this unforgivable event, but at the same time, the horde and the orcs are forgiven wholesale for everything they did on draenor because they were manipulated.

Because he wasn't possessed, he was given a choice - it was a trap to lure him, but it relied entirely on his personality being the way it was, had Uther not worn retard hat that day and stopped Arthas from genociding people, like you know, any normal paladin would, instead of running off to Terenas it would have been different. Plot contrivance rests not with the purge or Arthas (who was still a free agent at this point), but people around him and their reactions.
>>
>>49504341
his choice was to give the scourge a huge army that couldn't be stopped or make sure that their souls were not consumed by the scourge.
He had to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea and he chose the lesser of two evils
I was also talking about the frostwolves who didn't partake in the blood drinking.

The same you need to prep the bull.

35 unless you have a big human cock, in which case it's 10
>>
>>49505322
Depends on species. Normally for high/blood elves you'd need a 35 check if non-elf, 20 otherwise. However, since she's a Windrunner, she's weak to humans, meaning you only have to beat a DC 10 check. The harder part is putting Blightcaller back where he belongs.
>>
>>49505644
>in which case it's 10
It's not that low, but it is lower due to the Windrunner trait.
>>
>>49505963
hard to say really
the compulsion Windrunners have to get ARATHIED is pretty strong

Did you know that they were going to have a hero based on windrunner children in early wc3 builds?
>>
>>49506166
That ended up being Sylvanas' class in the finished game, but it's just a PotM with Frost Arrows instead of Searing Arrows.
>>
>>49506166
they were present in the alpha of the game
Also buildable walls.
>>
>>49506295
Why'd they remove those, anyway?
>>
>>49506307
If you could build your own walls, you could cover half the map in walls, aside from a single path, lined with towers, that leads to your base.
It's how I used to play Caesar 3.
>>
>>49506307
probably because they weren't used in multiplayer.
WC2 had buildable walls in multiplayer, but players just built farms to defend their towers.
>>

I actually need to recheck how Wild Gods came to be.

And we still do not know how or when Trolls came to be.

After all, Proto Dragons are elementals that didn't ended up in elemental plane and over time gained fleshy forms.

>And we still do not know how or when Trolls came to be.

Well first there were elementals.
Then came old gods and enslaved elementals.
Olds created their faceless I guess.
Titans found Azeroth and the olds gods, they ripped out ysharj and noticed it wounded azeroth, so they merely imprisoned the others.
The titans left their stuff their to protect the world.

Then after that..
I guess Silithid evolved. Trolls evolved.
Olds gods used silithid to make aqir.
Aqir and Troll empires fought.

I think we sorta know when trolls came to be, but their origin, not really.

Both N'raqi and Aqir were spawned by Old Gods after their arrival.

Trolls likely were the first sentient race to appear after war against Old Gods was over, as it apparently happened after Well of Eternity was already a thing. Anyway, Titans likely didn't departed from Azeroth's orbit yet.

Right forgot that later retcon
>>

DESU, it was retconning already outdated lore, which was outdated as long ago as in TBC, with Eredar lore.
And it's not like it retconned in game information, as that "history" was on their site.
>>
>>49507846
>it was retconning already outdated lore
That doesn't mean anything.
It's outdated lore because it was retconned.

Exactly my thoughts, the only somewhat logical solution to the artifacts. Still less retarded than all dragons losing their powers because they stretched too hard that one time.
