So the battlefield in this months White Dwarf is pretty nice - I played on the Khorne fortress table next to it at WHW a few weeks ago.

Has anyone here had any thoughts about building a board to fit a certain realm yet? Or theming some terrain for a standard mat if not building a full board?

I've been thinking of making a Nurgle/Realm of Life type of board but it'd have to be a 4x4 because of my space limitations, and would have to be modular so I could pack it away.

Any ideas for cool Nurgle terrain? I love some of the stuff from the Realmgate Wars books, so I'm thinking of taking some ideas from the maps in there.

So I just ordered Storm of Sigmar, citadel essentials set, stormcast eternals + paint set and general's handbook. The next thing I'm gonna buy will be starter set if I liked the game at all. Let's I will fall in love with AoS - what else should I buy excluding stuff mentioned above

So after browsing this thread for a while I decided to get the Greenskinz start box a couple of weeks back. I promised myself I would get all of that painted before I purchased more but then I spied a few bargain purchases on ebay that I couldn't pass up. Behold my 1000 point-ish grey army. Looks like I've got a long weekend painting ahead of me.

>>
>>49150523
Nah, I saw few games already at LGS and I like it. The only question is if my gf gonna share the starter set with me or will I have to find another newbie who would buy the chaos half from me
>>
>>49150782
Unfortunately the fyreslayers are sort of ally-tier. They work great when allied with some other armies that need what they can bring, which is some heavy melee hitting. Where you may need to rely on other armies for ranged support and tanking. But the magmadroths kick ass.

Rumor is we will be getting a book soon which ggives all the allegiance abilities and relics for the existing armies, and hopefully there will be some good fyreslayer ones to help with the weaknesses and all-fyrelsayer list has.

>>
>>49151019
The addition of the Irondrake heads is a nice one, haven't seen anything like them before.

The hammers look a little too big for the model IMO but they look awesome regardless. How are you planning on basing these guys?
>>
>>49151056
Thanks! Nice to have followers.

>>49151073
These are the starter set retributors. So I had to carve out the heads because they came attached to the torsos. So in carving them out, i had these faces lying around. I figured they could be sort of creepy basing decor when I get around to it, but I have decided to go a completely different direction with basing, so they will be covered up.
>>
>>49151074
I backed a kickstarter for these greenstuff basing stamps which should deliver this month. This is the stamp I am going with. Add to this some cool snow effect and you get the idea.

So... does White Dwarf still suck? Or is this a reasonable effort to fix it?
>>
>>49152200
It's actually pretty good. There's some genuinely good articles and interviews, the extra rules for games are great, and the tutorials for painting and converting are cool. There does seem to be about 8-10 pages that are just advertising the Deathwatch, but all the other advertising bits are sparingly placed as one page inserts scattered throughout the magazine. It's definitely a lot better, and I would surely reccomend it, but I think it may take a couple issues to get back to its solid roots and find its balance.
>>
Is Gorechosen any good? Seems to me the game is pretty much free and, if that is correct, is it a good addition to a Starter Box Khorne force?
>>
>>49152621

>>
>>49152602

>>
Assembled/pinned and base coat/blended, time for yellow dry brushing and then fluro green!
>>
>>49150466

It's nice to see the good old boys instead of just the usual iron jawz (I'm one of them unfortunately). Only got a squad of brutes and a mega boss so far but only the boss to paint now and spent tonight putting all the base coats on him. Think I will get the start collecting box next or perhaps hold off till I've built and painted the silver tower mini's.

I wouldn't pick up any more models until you've painted that lot, it's not yet reached the "it's so large I don't even want to start" mass of grey yet so you should be alright still!

Have you got your paints sorted yet?

I know this is a dumb question but I was having trouble making a distinction in my last game and it led to confusion. What is the difference between a spell and an ability? For example, the prosecutors 18' charge is very clearly an ability, but something like lord relictor's prayer, which requires a rill strokes me as more of a spell.

I figured one would say "ability " and "spell" for distinctions sake but the starter set doesn't come with a wizard to check his scroll
>>

spells have a casting value, with those words.
No casting value, not a spell.
Spell are explicitly labeled as spells, so if it's not labeled, it's not a spell.

The only benefit is the other savings and chance to receive it early. There may be things that are yet to be announced, but right now there are no exclusive miniatures.

I was the try again guy, didn't have time to give you advice.

Your list is weak because it is prone to heavy loss due to bravery. Get a Skaven chieftain with Battle Standard, and use it to grant your units immunity to battleshock.

Look into adding some ranged attacks to give your army more versatility.

Ratling guns are pretty standard, but use warp fire throwers if you have to deal with armoured shit.

Warplightning Cannons are really nice too.

Your new list is better because it has more Verminus Synergy, but you want either more shooting, or a big trump card to crush your opponent.

>>49159972

Yes and no, if you were building a straight Eshin list, it would be viable due to a lack of choices, and the fact that your infantry has shooting.

Clan rats are lackluster, prone to dying and running away, and easy targets for siege engines that do better against groups of 20+

Get the game and paint the minis. If you enjoy doing that, buy more Khorne/Chaos stuff and expand out.

If the painting bores you, you've got a neat game to play.

Ironjawz gits, I keep hearing that the pigs are lackluster. Most accounts I see are people running mobs of 3. Any body here have any luck running mobs of 6+ with jagged gore hackas? I really love the models, but haven't finished assembling them yet so I haven't used them.

>Repostan from old thread
Aight, hear me out. It's 1pm, I gotta sleep because I have to get up in 5 hours for a 200/300kms trip, but I just had an idea for a little army I'd want to play.
I've been playing Skryre for a while now, and I'm getting bored of the shooty playstyle.
So I wanted to spice things up a little and start a new project.
I've been looking mainly for cavalry, and at first I was thinking about either Stormcast Extremis or whatever, or a Demigryphon army.
Sadly neither of them can be a fully cavalry army because they both lack the battlelines.
So I just realized I love the looks of chaos mounts, and centaurs too.

So I was thinking, for quick 1000pts matches, something in these lines

>5x Chaos Knights with Glaives - 200pts
>5x Chaos Knights with Glaives - 200pts
>5x Chaos Knights with Ensorcelled Weapons - 200pts
>5x Chaos Mounted Marauders with Javelins - 100pts
>5x Chaos Mounted Marauders with Javelins - 100pts
>1x Chaos Lord on Demonic Mount with Slaanesh Mark
>Ruinbringer Warband - 80 points

I know, it's 1020 points total but me and my group all agreed that you can go over by a maximum of 40 points, mainly for formations.
It's also a pretty cheap list, for 130 eurobucks I get everything I need and if I can find a spare horse somewhere, I can get 5 extra knights since I was thinking about converting one to a chaos lord.

The idea was of building the horses without their heads, and with a lot of greenstuff put the riders' torsos on them. Then always with GS, build bags and random shit to put on the saddle instead.
Any other tips?

Jagged Gore-Hackas don't let you fight in multiple rows because the bases are almost 3" long. The Hackas would average 1 wound less than Choppas per 3 models.

The problems with 6+ per unit are losing an attack for not having a extra boss and giving up some freedom by forcing them into one group.

So what would happen if via warp "Accidents", a fully equipped Tactical marine from 40k fell into one of the realms? I guess to decide which realm he fell into, roll 1d9 and compare on the chart below:
1. Chaos
2. Fire
3. Death
4. Metal
5. Shadow
6. Life
7. Light
8. Beasts

You should cut the warlord and the engineer.

Surely the intention of such weapons is to allow you to fight them in 2 ranks? I realise the rules say 2" but if you were using them against me I'd let you do that. Seems kinda gay to have a weapon that is just straight up worse than the other one.

Other than the Beastclaw monsters, they are not very good. The faggots will bitch about the stonehorn being hard to kill and having very good damage and the Thundertusk 18" 2+ doing 6 mortal wounds. Full tryhard would be only Stonehorns or Mangler Squigs.

I understand that some people who hate GW just want to troll the threads. I don't hate GW. I love GW. They make the best fucking minis around. Their lore is absolute dynamite. They're a fucking cultural institution.

Please rate my fluff and give suggestions on how it can be better / more coherent.

I want to create an original faction, the Blightcast Raternals.

The story goes like this - After the Great Horned Rat Ascended to the pantheon he wanted to help liberate the mortal realms from the tyranny of humanity. So he took the very best of Skaven 'virtues' and shaped them into 'courageous' warriors with which to lead his unholy crusade. Clad in filthy copper armour painted in flaking silver and gold paint (real steel is expensive) and clad in blues and reds (unusual and otherworldly colours for a race of cave dwellers) and definitely-not-fighting-for-personal-advancement-yes-yes the legion of Blightcast Raternals ride to the mortal realms on a torrent of sewage from the depths of Blight City, appearing anywhere in a splash of feces and green light. The fight for the mortal realms has begun.

Bloodbound Deathstar list (Non-competitive)

Leaders:
Aspiring Deathbringer - General
Bloodstoker or Skullgrinder(?)
Bloodsecrator
Slaughterpriest

Battleline:
Bloodreavers (20)
Bloodreavers (20)
Blood Warriors (5)

Behemoth:
Chaos Warshrine

Other:
Khorgorath (1)

1000 Points

Basically a giant bloody death star, with all of the units piled in around the Aspiring Deathbringer General and the Warshrine, with the Bloodsecrator using the Shrine to hide from view. Blood Warriors and Khorgorath would essentially operate as one unit and would move freely from the blob or engage anything that might threaten the Bloodsecrator.

Not sure if I should go with the 'Stoker to get a reliable wound re-roll and charge, or risk it on the 'Grinder to get a potentially devastating amount of wound rolls (especially given the amount of +1's to attack the 'Reavers will be getting from the General and Bloodsecrator).

Just shocked me, since in the last WDs I bought, circa 2012, the armies were at most £200 and I'd even say that that would be an exaggeration. And I always thought WHFB was getting too expensive.

Now, if we even had just half of those miniatures for half of the money, you would still end up with less bodies than the same money in WHFB and to make matters worse, monopose.
>>49186659
Wrathhammers are fine? What about Goreaxe? Skullhammer? Deathreavers? Slaughterpriest perhaps? Bloodwrath? Wrathmongers?
>>
>>49186875
Yep those names are fine.

And the point of the claim that WHFB was too expensive was that most games were in the 3000 point range and getting there was ridiculous.

An AoS game can be played with a box of minis on each side if you wanted to.
>>
>>49157592

>>
>>49186978
WHFB could be played with a box of minis per side as well. And you got more miniatures (poseable ones) per £/€/$. It's not like Border Patrol or Regiments of Renown or Tale of Four Painters didn't exist.

And by the way, it was 2.25-2.5k, still ridiculous, but not quite 3k.
>>
>>49186875
>monopose
Have you SEEN WHFB core models? Clanrats, Ogres, Elf line units? They're all fucking monopose. Compared to those, the Age of Sigmar models are a wonder of poseability. Sure the starter set models are monopose, but starter set models have always been monopose.
And I'd really rather have ten wonderfully detailed Skullreapers than having to slog through painting forty Marauders.

And the naming? So what? Names too cringey for you? You're already playing a game most non-wargamers would consider cringey. Never mind that Warhammer has always been overblown. Would you rather have more tasteful names like Sanguinary Guard? Or maybe something down-to-earth like a Celestial Hurricanum?
>>
>>49186978

>>
>>49187640
Elf line units? Monopose? Wtf are you talking about? HE and DE ranges (dunno about WE) are poseable as hell. Still got some archers lying around, and they even have legs and torso split, like Space Marines.

Detail is fine and well until you overdo it. Adding detail for the sake of detail is poor taste, there is plenty of room for simpler designs, and for non dynamic conbat poses. Those chaos dudes would look even better if they had less bling. A good exception is the Orruk (argh) Shaman.

Those £85 dragons are monopose, as well as the dracoths, which have 2 variants, and the orruk (cringe) boars. Not precisely starter set material.

The Celestial Hurricanum was one of the pre-ET steps to downfall. The whole emphasis in fuckhuge miniatures was wrong imho, just like the whole Imperial Knight/Wraithknight/Cataclysm/huge flyers thing going on in 40k.

And shit mate, the game is obviously for manchildren, but there is a difference between saying Ushabti, Scorpions, Hierophant, Kinghts Errant, Sword Masters, Corsairs... and saying Deathrattle Spookymuch or Bloodwrath Bloodkiller.

Lothern Sea Guard, who are literally two pieces per model.

>Those £85 dragons are monopose, as well as the dracoths, which have 2 variants, and the orruk (cringe) boars. Not precisely starter set material.
Judicators, Liberators, Paladins, Blood Warriors, Wrathmongers/Skullreapers, Morghasts, Fyreslayer infantry, Sylvaneth Revenants, all quite poseable.

>The Celestial Hurricanum was one of the pre-ET steps to downfall. The whole emphasis in fuckhuge miniatures was wrong imho, just like the whole Imperial Knight/Wraithknight/Cataclysm/huge flyers thing going on in 40k.
I was more talking about its overblown name
The whole emphasis on fuckhueg models I agree with you. I mean, in Fantasy it was okay because the meta was tending toward big games that need those overblown centerpiece models, but 40k armies consisting of 10 Eldar soldiers, a Farseer and two Wraithknights is just ridiculous.

>I kind of want to see where this is going, I have faith in the new CEO and believe hey have taken many steps in the right direction lately, with the Start Collecting boxes, the boxed games with lots of savings, the improvement of White Dwarf... I have hope and so I dropped in to check, that's it.
Fair enough.

>Hopefully one day they will undo the fluff change of AoS and return to the Warhammer World
Probably not. I mean, at some point they might elect to write novels in the WHFB world again, but the current fluff is here to stay. And let's be honest here, the fact that they can advance the story without all hell breaking loose now is actually a good thing.
>>
>>49188427
If you dislike the fluff, the new models AND the names, then the question should be allowed what the fuck you're doing here.
Yes, I think Wrathmongers sounds stupid. I call them Angry Cheerleaders, because that at least fits. But Slaughterpriest, for example, is perfectly fine by me. A priest who slaughters enemies, hacks them up and then eats said foes together with his lackeys. Fits to a T.
Skullreapers fit, too, as they literally *reap* skulls for their god.
Does Gorechosen sound weird? You bet it does. Does Bloodsecrator sound awkward? Hell yes.
>>
>>49188551
LSG is literally a repack of the IoB models, which means they are starter set crap. Normal Spearmen, despite their bad proportions, are very poseable.

The Hurricanum could pass as a one off, since it's just that. The steam tank is just the steam tank, not the Deathwind of Metalcrushing, and even the demigryphs aren't called Murderpaw Bloodbirdos.

I never understood the idea that you couldn't advance the plot in Fantasy, or for that matter, in 40k. Comsidering that both universes are filled to the brim with deus ex machina, you can just use one more.
For example: in 6e TK, Settra was amassing his armies for a new Age of Conquest, and was said to have the largest army. That would be good material for a campaign, with their expansion triggering an OK migrationand a new Bretonnian crusade, while in the seas Finubar (as stated in the HE book) put emphasis in returning the HE colonies all over the coasts to former glory, which would pit them against the fleets of the dead. And so on.

Or one could just have Grimgor launch a huge waaaagh northward and have the old world forces scramble to pillage the chaos territories in the wake of said waaagh.

I really dislike the new setting, because by virtue of the planes being infinite, there really is no sense of loss, there is always more. And despite some people actually dying, it seems a safe space (tm) because if you don't get reforged (oh yes you lose your humanity, huge blow to your faction) you get rebirthed or turns out you were just a slann's dream and are safe in another plane of existence. I can't see any interesting stakes.
>>
>>49188841
Spoken like someone who doesn't read any of the fluff. There is plenty at stake, it's just not landmass. It's the realm gates, it's relics, it's entire populations and cities, it's prime real estate. It's different for every faction. For the stormcast Eternals it's rescuing those from under chaos rule. If a battle is lost, that means sigmar failed more people.

Do you see what I'm getting at? A land being infinite is not the crux of the conflict. Even if the stormcast Eternals being able to come back after death feel every battle lost.
>>
>>49188427
most people just don't get triggered by names

>>49187942
>The Celestial Hurricanum was one of the pre-ET steps to downfall. The whole emphasis in fuckhuge miniatures was wrong imho, just like the whole Imperial Knight/Wraithknight/Cataclysm/huge flyers thing going on in 40k.

I'm sorry, but did you think people actually bought the remade rank and file units like Dark Elves?

protip: they did not.
>>
What is the new Start Collecting Bloodtide formation?
>>
>>49188841
Because, you cocksniffing mongoloid, the Old World was TOO densely packed, and TOO built up.

Oh, Grimgor lauches a new WAAAAGH?

So either it goes nowhere or we lose Imperial or Dwarf territory.

And as a Dwarf player, I say a hearty fuck you to the fact that 70% of our fluff is based on loss and I'd be damned if we lost places like Karak Hirn because a mongoloid Orc player feels useless in the fluff.
>>
>>49188841
>that whole last paragraph
Gonna have to disagree with a few points here.
We do not know whether or not the realms are infinite, no scope has ever been mentioned. From the summer campaign map we were able to see that most of the stuff we've seen in the realm of life was quite close to each other for example. Also, if a realm has one god, or one special entrance, then that has obvious strategic importance.

Sure a lot of armies take no real losses, but combined with the above that still means if Sigmarines are sent to a specific location to achieve something time-critical, if they all die it doesn't matter that they can come back from the dead, they lost whatever time-critical objective they had. It simply means they can have characters die in epic last stands without having to dream up new characters all the time.
It also takes time for most of these forces to regenerate, so if there ever is an all-out attack, they can run out of fighters.

For example, it doesn't matter if all the damn Hallowed Knights who were sent to save Alarielle could come back from the dead, if they lost, Alarielle would have died, completely dooming one of the realms and dealing a huge blow to Order. And the same holds true in many other fights. There are one or two times when the Seraphon are stalling for time. Does it matter that they're immortal? No. If their stalling hadn't worked, the objective would have been lost.

And the main reason they can't advance the story of 40k and were hesitant to advance WHFB's is that either you pick some backwater place that doesn't matter, in which case the advancing is irrelevant, or you pick a place that does, thus creating a chain reaction that ends with all hell breaking loose.
>>
>>49189002
>Entire populations and cities
And so what? the planes are infinite, there will always be more cities, more people. Some are under chaos rule? Oh well, civilization carries on in a million different places in that inifnite plane.

And hell, why is it that Sigmar centric? Another reason for not liking it. I miss having everyone's gods matter. Even Taal got to shine in things like the battle of the Maisontaal Abbey.
>>
>>49189369
... you played Elves in WHFB didn't you?
>>
>>49188716
Iv never understood why people have a problem with bloodsecrator. It makes sense as a name, literally riffing on the Christian idea of a consecrator, who is the bishop who anoints a new priest into the faith.
>>
>>49189209
First of all, stop choking on your own balls, such aggresivity, christ.

I just wrote that it goes northward. Why then come up with the Imperial/Dwarf crap? Go finger your anus.

>>49189222
I can perfectly recall the first releases of AoS talking about infinite or near infinite planes. That's the reason I lost interest, not because /tg/ told me to.

Whatever they lose, given that they can come back, they can retake. It's just an eternal back and forth, there is no risk of complete destruction, as there was in the Warhammer World.

They can perfectly advance both 40k and Fantasy. Chaos destroys Terra? The Emperor is now floating among the stars in the biggest Fortress-Monastery the universe has seen, and the Lords rule from Terra-in-Exile. If similar stuff has happened in real life, can't see why it couldn't in 40k or Fantasy.

Ulthuan sinks? the HE move to their fortresses throughout the world and put and even bigger emphasis in shipbuilding.

History is full of tribes and kingdoms spreading and/or moving from one place to another, can't see why that wouldn't work.

>>
>>49189445
I think the problem isn't just Bloodsecrator. The problem is with THREX SKULLBRAND IS THE BLOODSECRATOR OF THE GORETIDE.

And even with the wordplay on Consecrator it's still stupid, because the Bloodsecrator isn't a priest or holy person, that would be the Slaughterpriest. The Bloodsecrator swings an overblown banner around.
>>
>>49189507
>They can perfectly advance both 40k and Fantasy. Chaos destroys Terra? You're too focused on one thing. If you advance the story far enough for that to happen, you also have the biggest WAAAGH ever and the gigantic Tyranid invasion on your ass and the Necrons awakening fully and yadda yadda yadda. You can't just advance one part of the story by ten years and then completely ignore the other fifty things that would happen in the same time span.
You can't just write fluff that hints at an endgame in the near future and then keep doing shit that isn't actually the endgame.
>>
I bought the Seraphon starter box (because fuck yeah aztec dinosaurs) and I've got a question.

Can I mix weapons in a unit? I'd like to have some of my warriors wield clubs up front and have the back row with spears to reach, but what I've read says I can't do that. My brother, however, bought Ironclaw Orks and his rules allow for mixed weapons.
>>
>>49189991
there are no written restrictions against it but some opponents might complain
>>
>>49190447
I see, thank you.
>>
>>49190447
This is wrong because the description on the warscrolls state that the unit, not individual models, can have one weapon or another.

Here's the description for the ardboys which allows mixing.

>Each unit is armed with an
array of weapons; some of the boys carry
Orruk-forged Choppas and Smashas, while
others wield Orruk-forged Big Choppas.
Some of the boys may instead carry a
single Orruk-forgedChoppa or Smasha
and an Orruk-forged Shield.
>>
>>49189991
You have to read the warscroll.

Saurus Warriors can't mix and match weapons because they say

" Some units of Saurus Warriors
wield Celestite Clubs, while others are
armed with Celestite Spears. "

while ardboyz can because they say:

" Each unit is armed with an
array of weapons; some of the boys carry
Orruk-forged Choppas and Smashas, while
others wield Orruk-forged Big Choppas. "
>>
>>49190647
Yeah, that was the argument I saw, but it seems like a really forced interpretation. If that's the intention, why not just say "All models in a unit of saurus warriors must all wield the same weapon choice"

Also, do models with a banner or war-drums still get their attack? I've seen some people claim they do and others the opposite.
>>
>>49190447
I'm pretty sure it is written down in one of the FAQs, albeit if I remember right it boils down to reading the bloody wall scrolls and whether it's weapon options relate to single models or the whole unit.

I bet your one of those Jeb ends that believes you attack with all the weapons on the warscroll, even when it clearly states they are armed with one or the other!
>>
>>49189991
Although you can mix weapons in the unit, there's nothing stopping you having a second unit with spears right behind your first

Also, dunno about what endhammer you are talking about, but I have to wodner what is wrong with you. Now 1/5 of the races of Warhammer are "meme races"? Empire, TK, HE and Lizardmen?

>>49189791
Of course you can. They do it all the time. GW isn't a factory of accomplished writers; the universe, the plot and the writing are pulp at best. They pull shit out of their ass and explain it with deus ex mahinas all the time, or don't even bother explaining. And they have been at it for decades.
>>
>>49189621
Because old fantasy and 40k wasnt full of silly names. Like Cruella The Vile, Tiktakto, and shit. Plus the vampire counts have Blood Knights. Blood is what vampires eat. That'd be like the Empire having a unit called "Brotherhood of the Sandwich" or something.

First list in AoS

Moonclan Grot Warboss 80
(the battle of skull pass one with the squig. What should he have, according to warscroll?)

Moonclan Shaman 80

20 Moonclan Grots 120
+bows,1 Gong, 1 badmoon icon
(Is it possible to carry more than 1 per unit?)

20 Moonclan Grots
+6 stabbas +8 pokin spears, gong, badmoon icon, 3 barbed nets 120
(How many nets are allowed?, Warscroll says "a few" carry)

3 Fellwater troggoths 200

1 Fanatic 30

1 Fanatic 30
(one fanatic per moonclan grot mob)

Grot Scraplauncher 140

10 Gitmob Wolf rider 200
+bows

1000pts total

How bad is it?
Suggestions?
Want to use the Wolfriders to distract the enemy and/or go against the backfield

the melee grots should give protection to the rest which advances midfield

Maybe I just can't into ebooks, but holy shit, I don't see an upside to using the format at all compared to a pdf.
>>
>>49196851
There isn't. It sucks. And I don't get GW's love for it. I'm guessing they avoid PDF to make it harder to pirate? It's aggravating.

I made the low quality PDFs of sylvaneth, beastclaw, bonesplitters, and all-gates, but I could only do so by opening them in readium, taking a screenshot of each page, and compiling the images into a PDF file. no regular humans yet. be patient, we will get to them eventually. The overarching story is slowly making its way around to all the existing factions. >>
>>49199648
Thankfully most of the Empire and Bretonnia are very easy to proxy with third party historical miniatures.
>>
>>49199648

The only things Empire lost were either fine cast already or 15+ year old sculpts.

Bretonnia I grant you sadly although hopefully the FW rumors turn out to be true. However, I do appreciate that Bretonnians and Free Guilds are technically the same army now which leads to some neat potential fluff and gameplay combos.

Two quick questions.

The effects of standard bearers and musicians only happens when they are alive right?

Does the player controlling the unit decide which units are killed by the enemy attack, and I'm guessing the units removed have to be in range?

I'm asking this because it seems like at the ends of battle the only units standing seem like they'd be the musicians and stuff that the player decides not to remove, seeing as they can still fight like every other unit just with all the bonuses. Is it common to put all the musicians and banner bearers at the back of the unit for this purpose so they don't get hit?

Most do, the renamed guys you just use their new points cost regardless. This is necessary since there are battalions have actual points costs but that require units like "Empire Handgunners" and "Empire State Troops" which don't exist anywhere except their legacy format.

So through this somewhat intended loophole, you can have useful warrior priests. Frankly they're not even an OP addition to Free Guilds anyway.
