So question. Does anyone know if a Druidism/Nature based CYOA exists?

If not, how about an Alchemist/Alchemy themed one? I've been on a real strong Mana Khemia kick lately

If it's a solid gold coin then it's probably around 1oz. So you'd just find out what 1oz of gold was worth wherever you were. If it's more/less then 1oz then you find what that's worth. Currently gold is selling for 1,356 usd / oz

Alright, and now for the moment nobody was waiting for, I finished V2 of "Student President CYOA," which is hopefully the last one.

- Added more of...basically everything, but especially drawbacks. Also they're now worth 1 point instead of 2.

- Attempted to fix the layout, scrapped that new layout, then made another new layout. It's now marginally better than before, in the sense that death by stabbing is better than death by drowning.

-No really I apologize in advance. I'd keep working on it but honestly I sorta want to be done with it and it'd be a shame to not post it.

You're not. It's meant to feed the part of the human brain that enjoys gambling. I know, that's completely baffling and retarded, but that's brains for you.
>>
>>48173268
Like so many other CYOAs, it ended up centralizing the CYOA too much and instituting a point tax. There's little challenge in a CYOA like that if you're permanently immortal, resulting in being spoiled for choice and never actually having to think about how things are going to work out. It turns the CYOA from an actual thought experiment into an exercise in making up ridiculous ploys that succeed only through the plot device of perfect immortality, and draws focus away from the actual themes.
If you want to pretend you're immortal, go ahead. You can't cheat in a CYOA unless you're playing a quest, you can only ignore the guidelines. It's a lot more rewarding in the end to follow the rules, and people are justified in laughing at those who have to make up their own rules in a power fantasy because they can't feel good otherwise, but it's your choice.
>>
>>48173378
>>48173389
Normally I'd be inclined to agree with you, but the weird fact is that I was there when it was first posted and somehow people have actually guessed most of them. I honestly don't know how. Maybe it's like full of secret anime references or something I haven't caught on. IIRC, the only one nobody discovered was Meshara Brown's. All the others were practically agreed on by the time Harem Anon released the secrets.
>>
>>48173405
That's /cyoag/ autists for you. It takes a combination of the ability to pick on extremely slight hints in the wording, knowledge of anime tropes and knowledge of how cyoa writers love the most to fuck you.
>>
>>48173005
I'd prefer it kept to the notion of the original. That is, that even though it dealt with classic Christian themes, it was only loosely, and being a demon wasn't auto-lose, and nobody sided with God because he hates everyone equally, especially angels.
>>
>>48173405
I remember that. Though if I remember correctly the cards were the only part that nobody had a decent clue on.
>>
>>48173423
I was one of the guys who guessed the cards. It was kind of a "partially" thing. Some guys did guess the correct MEANING of the cards, symbolically speaking, but few of them guessed what the cards would actually do. Except for the Ace of Wands, which everybody thought would give you a younger Madame Lyubitchka (and is pretty much what you get).
>>
>>48173399
I was actually talking about the extended immortality past present day, not the "absolutely cannot die". It's still referenced in the intro "based on your immortal perk selection"
>>
>>48173418
I don't mind that, I just mean cut down on the pretentious purple prose and focus a bit more on the actual mechanics a bit more.

I know that's personal preference and all, but fuck reading the original hurt my brain.
>>
>>48173378
>>48173389
>>48173395
The only thing I would say about it is that it's not very clear that the Tarot cards aren't choices in addition to the girls. I thought you were supposed to pick one girl and one card, which made it confusing.

>>48173399
That's silly. Why wouldn't you then just make people immortal by default? What's the point? To alter history then die? Kindof a wet blanket at that point.

Tell you what, why not just remark in a very small aside that it's completely possible to enact historical changes and advance the world to the point where agelessness-granting technology exists? Wouldn't that be the natural progression of things anyway? It's not like it's NOT going to happen -- it will eventually. What, are you going to then just tell the one doing the CYOA that they specifically can't partake in it?

Roberta's screams "up to something shady", and the part about the missing finger heavily implies involvement in some kind of cult or extreme organization that uses this as a loyalty test (aka Yakuza, Assassins, etc.).
Beatrice's secret is written all over her profile, I don't know what kind of moron you need to be to have no idea about it.
Dae Eun-Yeong is legit difficult, but people did guess it right back then so I'm assuming I'm missing something.
Samantha's secret is... really weird. I guess it's supposed to refer to some famous hentai VN or something, but in any case, even if you don't know what it is exactly it's kind of easy to guess the gist of it (i.e. something about her body is inclined to make things messy, and she overcompensates by being obsessed with cleanliness).
Many people caught to the fact that Tabitha is a monster-shifter-thing because of the focus on how she's never angry but is clearly bottling shit up. Bunch of people even outright said "giant monster", but I don't know how they reached that conclusion. My guess would've been a Werewolf: The Apocalypse garou due to the enviromentalism shtick.
Heather's easy.
Meshara's really hard.
If you know /cyoag/ and trolling creators, it's really, REALLY easy to guess that Cheryl would be a futa. Just saying.
>>
>>48173470
Dae Eun Yeong may be a reference to Stein's;Gate, now that I'm rereading it.

He got rid of the immortality perks, but he added a Shape Shifting power. You should easily be able to shift into younger bodies whenever you feel like it, especially since you'll have thousands of years to perfect your skills.

Even without that, it's not like you drop dead the moment you lose your agelessness. You age like 100 times slower than a normal human, you're gonna be around for a long time.
>>
>>48173259
Nice to see an update to this with more drawbacks and friends you can choose. As Rumors is 1pt now instead of 2 I added Temper to my build. Also the new year events are a nice addition. Thanks for posting this.

I did like the lined paper background of the original though the formatting on this one is nicer overall. Shame you didn't keep that background.
>>
>>48173533
Shapeshifting age away is essentially wholesale banned from every CYOA in existence. It's the cheapest loophole.

And aging that slowly just means that I'm going to have to be an old fucking geezer for 100 times as long.
>>
>>48173533
>You age like 100 times slower than a normal human

Not really seeing that anywhere, but I'm tired and blind.

Wouldn't Regeneration 3 serve to repair your telomeres, granting you a similar kind of ageless immortality?
>>
>>48173556
How the fuck does Shapeshifting even fucking work if you can't shift age? Age is probably the simplest and easiest thing to change about your body, assuming you have magical morphing powers.
>>
>>48173567
apparent age doesn't equal real age.

Now that you say it, I'm sure in that CYOA I'd take shapeshifting so I'd at least look like I'm young when I'm old, but I would still drop dead one day for no real reason.

>Shapeshifting age away is essentially wholesale banned from every CYOA in existence. It's the cheapest loophole.
>>people just go on the internet and tell lies

Don't remember which one, but there was actually a cyoa out there where the author said doing so was perfectly fine. There was another that specifically said it was perfectly okay as long as you bought a physical perk that was extremely cheap, like one or two points.

>>48173567
>How the fuck does Shapeshifting even fucking work if you can't shift age?

That's a great question, since the effects of aging are just the result of damage at the end of your chromosomes, which means most of your DNA. One would assume if you're changing shapes without limit after a time that you're changing chromosomes as well, otherwise it doesn't really explain how you're taking new and vastly different forms to begin with.

Remove Calibrun
>>
>>48173556

It's a permanent shifting ability that grows in strength and versatility over time, and you get millennia to practice it.

The author hasn't given his reasoning for removing the immortality perks yet, so until he shows up and says that he decided he hates immortality and wants everyone to die after they reach the current year, I'm assuming that Shapeshifting was intended to be a more elegant solution, as well as a way to get people to finally pick one of the supernatural perks that were being neglected in the last version.
>>
>>48173576
Real age is physical age, physical age is an aspect of your body, and shapeshifting alters your body.

"Age" isn't some RPG stat that acts like a Doom counter and kills you when it reaches a certain number. It's the deterioration of your body's cells over time.

If shapeshifting isn't giving me the power to alter my cells, WHAT THE FUCK IS IT DOING?

No.

Tied up or doggy style with lots of face slapping, hair pulling, spitting, berating and name calling, ultimately ending in tossing a dirty salad and a golden shower, with an expectation of a "thank you" before they walk out and leave you to practicing your escape artist routine before the next one shows up to hose you off and take their turn.
>>
>>48173590

I love this one, though does anyone else find it ironic that after several revisions the porno drive has become a physical object, but the not-so-mystery boxes are nerfed to the point of being practically useless?

>>48173613

yeah, if there's some metaphysical component to aging in this cyoa, wouldn't you just die after a few decades in the past? What's so special about the agelessness granted by the cyoa compared to permanently shapeshifting your body into younger forms?
>>
>>48173567
Like Mystique. Doesn't she age?
>>
>>48173671
The boxes are just supposed to be a way to bring mementos with you into your rebooted life. They're not meant to be super useful, just a way to preserve things, or write notes to yourself so you don't forget the things you want to do differently.
>>

>>
>>48173671
Because apparent age=/=actual age, and actual age is what kills you?

I don't see what's so counterintuitive about this, because, goddamn, people are trying to bring REALISM into a CYAO of all things.
>>
>>48173676
If she does, it's because she's not changing herself on a genetic level, she's just changing her skin, flesh, and bone structure.

If shapeshifting lets you spoof DNA evidence, or become another animal altogether, then it's likely that, unless it's said otherwise, your chromosomes are changing to match what you're displaying on the outside. If it's not mentioned, then you're capable of, with practice, shapeshifting age away, if it is specifically barred even though you can turn into other creatures and spoof DNA evidence, then it's magic.
>>
>>48173676

I was always operating under the assumption that she just aged to adulthood because she saw everyone else growing up and figured "why not?" Remember, she's a lot older than she looks, she's said herself she wasn't even born in the last century and thus is over 100 years old.
>>
>>48173738
>she wasn't even born

I worded that wrong out of habit because I'm retarded, ignore the "even"
>>
>>48173676
Mystique? No, or maybe not, she's over 100 though her exact age is unknown. Though a lot of mutants don't really seem to age either, like Destiny, one of Mystique's lovers is also over 100 and her power is precognition, not a bit to due with age.

>Because apparent age=/=actual age

This is correct.

>and actual age is what kills you

This is not. The reason we say people "die of old age" is because they've built up enough age-related issues that their body can no longer function. These age-related issues are brought on by aging, which as already stated, is nothing more than damage done to the telomeres at the end of your chromosomes, meaning new cells made from that particular cell reproduction are damaged in turn. Instead of a fully functioning cell, it's "chipped" or "cracked" so it only works at 95% instead of 100% at first. Then that cell splits, and the telomeres are damaged again, so the next two are 90%, so on and so fourth until damaged cells outnumber healthy cells and the next thing you know your organs aren't strong enough to get you through standard daily functions.

Well, again, this is all in the vein of shapeshifters. If they can change their DNA, which they should be able to if they're taking inhuman forms, then whatever form they've taken is their "apparent age" and how long they've actually existed is their "actual age." Thus as long as they actually shift their forms, their "actual age" will never kill them as they can repair or replace the damage done to their cells themselves, especially if they've got some sort of regeneration on top of that. If they remained in any given form, even one based on how they originally looked, it would be their apparent age that kills them. Nobody really knows how a 1,000,000 year old person should look aside from "dead" after all.

Drawback: The Dustbin of History

For those with a single point left perhaps an option to a get a superior sword, shield, or piece of armor would be a cool choice to have. Maybe for more points you could get a gun with unlimited ammunitions? An unlimited supply of something small to throw? A lot of things you could do. Maybe add an option that instead of the Pocket Dimension you can get a more well off and hidden base in your local reality rather than one that isn't. Drawbacks still run on percentages instead of straight points incase you forgot to change it.

Fully upgraded Regeneration is functionally ageless immortality even if not intended that way. In the same way that a high regenerative factor makes a lot of bodily functions completely or almost completely self-sustaining. Take enough body upgrades and you'd live longer than normal anyhow. I only went so far back in time to watch the world change and so that it's easier to kill the browns. Also to maybe fuck up the first olympic games. That one is for me.

there might be some kind of metaphysical aspect that we can't do anything about, especially since being able to shapeshift into inhuman forms raises the question of how we can shift our brain/nervous system into something else and still retain our thoughts/memories/etc.

Still, until the author dictates otherwise I'm assuming that Shapeshifting for immortality is valid.

The Culture festival

Everything runs smooth in school because president cares, even though those brats don't appreciate

At first year they revolt because of rumors that president is not good enough. Well with several kicks and punches of the most vocal opposers while running campaign of how new president will help everyone those commies should tone down their anarchistic feelings, if not, keeping Shiro close since he strong and knows stuff, while Morio and Sanae would crack down on protests

Second year, well here Morio, Natsume, Fuyuko and Shiro have to protect their beloved president from getting lewd pictures of her all over school, or even worse, internet. With wits and friends "underground" it wont be hard to find who does this

Ah, the culture festival, give them directions, control fairness of competition with iron fist and everything will be nice and sound

>Removed Immortality Upgrades, improved base immortality somewhat
As some have already stated, removing the "ageless forever" is a heavy nerf, unless you clarify that it's attainable via some other given option or options, such as Shapeshifting (by way of shifting your DNA and such), Regeneration (regenerate those telomeres to remain young), and/or Non-Reactor (aging-induced degradation, while a natural bodily function, is essentially unhealthy).

Until you explicitly clarify matters, I'm going to go ahead and assume one (or more, but especially the last one) of those is enough to counter aging indefinitely.

Alex Mercer build is go.
Mutagen: Natural Weapon 2 for free.
Athletic build
Cult Faction: Self Improvement 2 for free.
Drawbacks: Weakness, Memory Loss, Traitor(Ryan Elmore), Valuable, Hated, Body Guard. Bonus Points total 18.
Perks: Prime Subject, Expert, Safehouse.
Abilities (total points 43): Natural Weapon 3, Self Improvement 3, Inheritable 1, Strength 3, Agility 3, Endurance 2, Durability 3, Enhanced senses 3, Reflexes 2, Immunity 2, Self Healing 3, Social enhancement 1, Predator 3, Shapeshift 3, Adaptability 3, Mental 2, Unarmed Mastery 2, Infection 3, Mind Reading 2.
Enemies: Fiona Dawley, John York, Bubbles. I will get two more perks and another ally, Perks will be Charisma and Signing Bonus.
Allies (4 total): Lindsey Reyes, Alex Keller (as he paid for me to be his Body Guard from the cult, also got the Signing Bonus from him), Aaron Moore chill dude I met at the bar down the road from my safe house, and the scientist that helps me Yuito Kataoka. >Alex Mercer is the pseudonym I go by when I do my cults busy work (and the target for Fiona Dawley and the general publics hatred, god bless my perfect shape shifting abilities), when I am not at Keller's place guarding him from the competitors he pissed off getting into the cult. Lindsey was apparently my girlfriend before my memory restarted and now she lives with me, Yuito is my co worker for when we experiment on the mutagen formula the higher ups had made for something. Haven't been told what and apparently they want to start a small Disaster and they want me around for deployment for if/when shit hits the fan. Then I get to be the hero that makes Zombies to kill and eat other zombies.
>>
>>48174877
John York talked Ryan into working with him to stop the Disaster from taking place(fat lot of good they will do against me, even if they have a mob of people in their own militia to follow them around), and Bubbles just wants vengeance for being replace by his better more organic counter part, his total group is a bunch of losers trying to fight in the city for control. Time to go to work, looks like its Raccoon city, weird name but I get to fight cyber animals, zombies, and a small army. This is going to be fun. Back story done, how did I do?
>>
>>48174949
Actually now that I think about it, I will switch out Aaron Moore with Jim Boyce. He sounds more fun in this situation. Yuito and Alex are both on site running the data while I handle security, Lindsey is at the Safe House providing tech support where she is safe. If anyone wanted to know.

Objectively speaking, the three best objects would be, in order:
>The Quill
Essentially amounts to mind control to anyone that isn't blind. Highly useful.
>The Ring

>The Key
Any lock.

>My biggest complaints for the alpha build:
>1. Powers suck.
>2. Body Upgrades
>3. Mental category sparse

Thank you for both versions of your build, and the feedback. For powers, I do intend to add more options and tweak them, and I'll see about adding some fast travel methods (besides using your warehouse variable entrance, which will accomplish the same thing). BUT, it is intentionally the case that while you can be a remarkably powerful person, you can not become a "one-man army". I'll see what tweaks I can make while still keeping true to this principle.

Body upgrades I am to simplify if I can a bit, but I don't want to make it the case that everyone just buys invulnerability from everything. It needs to be a difficult decision. Though, tweaks are still being made.

You're definitely right about the mental category being sparse; something I'm working on, too.

Thank you sincerely for the feedback.

>>48172900
Thanks for the build! Sounds like a good potential use of shapeshifting. One clarification: you can choose any time or place that you like; the listed ones are just possible suggestions to give the choice more character, but if you want to start in 2005, or whatever, you can. The advantage to going back further is first, you have a longer span or agelessness (since regardless it lasts to the present day), and two, you have more time to master your abilities/alter history.

>>48173037
There are three items already; will add more if I have a good idea or get a good suggestion.

Preset companions, nah; that would just clutter the page. It's the history of the world; until you start fucking with things all the people from that history are there. If you want to go back to a time period and befriend Napolean, or Alexander the Great, or whatever, you don't need me to list off all the great figures of history to do so. Thanks for the suggestions.

>>48173136
Thanks for the build; good to see several powers.

Basically my answer has been stated. The CYOA was not meant to be about immortality for immortality's sake. You're already going to live for 17,000 years if you like; if that's not enough to advance technology to the point where physical bodies become a non-issue, then what's the point?

I removed the option to save space and because, frankly, it's a *boring* category.

>>48173464
>>48173490
To emphasize what the second poster said, yes, you get free knowledge of everything you need to function wherever you are dropped in. Secondly, because this seems to be a point of confusion, the listed times are just possible suggestions. I will expand it eventually, but you are always free to pick ANY time in the given timeframe, and any place.

>>48173866
I'll consider some tiny "leftovers", thanks for the idea.
And that's a good point about regeneration; it's not that I mind the idea of people becoming immortal, but if there is an option that *everyone* takes, then that's boring. I'll see what can be done.
>>
>>48173613
Repairing damaged telomeres is too fine a level of shapeshifting for you. So you can keep changing your body, but your cells will continue to break down until there aren't enough cells left to maintain biological functionality.

Exponential growth is a thing. Even if you elect not to advance human innovation yourself (and one of the nice things about this change is that it makes the drawback to not be able to advance it actually a drawback), then you still have a good 5000+ years AFTER the present day.

If you want to remove boring choices from the "what do I spend points on" equation, the (possibly only) way to do it that doesn't alienate the people that consider the boring choice to be always essential is to make the boring thing free. If you tack it onto some other option, it'll just cause _that_ option to be the new "boring" choice.

It's not immortality that is boring, it's everyone buying an option that says "you're immortal forevers" that's boring. It's not creative or interesting in the build.

Handwave it if you like; this is not about trying to be some authoritarian figure saying "no, you can't be immortal!" If people are only doing the CYOA because there is an easy-grab immortal forever option, then I'm fine with losing them, because that means they aren't really interested in the changing history aspect (which is, frankly, the reason I made this CYOA).

I understand that not everyone is going to care about what I do, and I'm not going to try to "force" people into changing the world, but neither will I bloat the CYOA with sections that hold no interest to me. *shrug*

I don't get your logic. That's pure stupidity.

And people can't give themselves a power that's not in your CYOA. At that point there's zero reason to be playing a CYOA since you're wanking yourself to have anything you want.
>>
>>48175252
>If people are only doing the CYOA because there is an easy-grab immortal forever option
I think it might be less "doing it because they can be immortal" and more "not doing it because they can't be immortal".
>>
>>48175210
and there's a part of this community that won't play anything but a cyoa that caters specifically to their fetish.
Or will only play one if it's specifically about being a girl.
These people need to get their shit together. The author thinks getting immortality for more than 17k years is dumb, and so do I. If seventeen thousand years of life isn't enough for you, I really don't know what to say.

>>48175238
Possibly; it's something I'll consider. I just *really* don't want to see a bunch of builds that boil down to "I don't care about history, so I start yesterday, and just use my points to buy immortality and all sorts of upgrades, treating this CYOA as just a random powers upgrade CYOA".

Oh, gods no man, that's an insane number of submissives! 10 to 1 is tolerable if they're well behaved, and you still need at least 2 switches to cope with emergencies and being overwhelmed taking care of that many submissives!

15 subs, 3 switches, and 2 dominants would be something that could be sustainable in a population ratio. Any more submissives than that, and your dominants would be overwhelmed.

Studying social structures of D/s has been educational and weird.
>>
>>48175676
>Letting anyone else dominate your harem
Pure scum right here.
>>
>>48175685
He didn't say that, he said your harem is too big. Your subs would get miserable and unruly because you can't pay enough attention personal to all 99 of them.
>>
>>48175625
1:10:100 ratio of alphas, betas and omegas. Omega's cant resist an order given to them by a beta or alpha. Betas can only resist an order given to them by an alpha in extreme circumstances. These personality traits become apparent during puberty which is usually a fun time and leads to extremely interesting changes in school dynamics.

Something like that?
>>
Missed one from last thread. Awesome philosophy reference, by the way.
>>48172626
>Ship of Theseus question: my powers are attached to my brain. How much of my brain am I allowed to augment with cybernetics until my powers vanish?
I'll give the easy answer, and say that they are powerful in direct linear proportion to what percentage of your brain is organic.
>>
>>48175685
the entire conversation of the fetish summed up in one sentence. good job.
>>
>>48175697
That's not true. Alphas are too busy having kids to manage things, the betas are outnumbered 10:1 so they don't manage anything either, and the omegas are all disgusting loners and neets, so even they can't do anything.

You've truly made a distopia. You monster.
>>
>>48175697
Aren't omegas not taking orders from anyone? Living by themself as hermits?
>>
>>48173849
Unless they gets stuck with Shit Writer Disease and dan slott starts writing their series.
>>
>>48175697
Sounds like the downfall of human civilization. How do you educate these hormonal teenagers, exactly? Presumably you don't have enough alphas to make all the teachers alphas; maybe not even betas. Then you have students who learn they can give the teachers orders...
>>
>>48175697
I'd say subs can resist orders only in extreme circumstances, switches can resist them but prefer not to, and doms can go wrestle or something if they have an argument.
>>
>>48175729
You're focusing too much on the sexual aspect. At its base it's nothing more or less than a huge personality change. Omegas could be perfectly functional members of society they just couldn't be given any position that involves them giving orders to a beta or alpha. Consider alphas the CEO's, betas the managers, and omegas the workers. Although alphas and betas should be even rarer than the original 1:10:100 idea to make that work.
>>
>>48175609
>100 people born extremely submissive for every 1 dominant
One, that's a horrible ratio. Unless you force the dominants to be whores, that's a lot of sexually frustrated people
Two, were you the guy who wanted to remove gender because "equality"? How is this equality?
You still have "gender" roles.
>>
>>48175775
That's not how it works. Betas are closer to workers, omegas are outside the social structure by definition. They're the outcasts, complete failures, and criminals.
>>
>>48175775
>perfectly functional members of society
Except any asshole alpha can tell them to kill themselves and they have to do it, they can't advance in their job and are forced into simple labor. Their only chance of survival is to stay at home with soundproof walls.
It's a good thing /d/ doesn't control the world
>>
>>48175799
I shouldn't have used those words.

>>48175840
Why would an alpha tell an omega to kill himself/herself when they're naturally submissive and cannot thwart an alpha in any way.

I'm mostly interested in seeing how the world would turn out. It might be an absolute mess or an absolute utopia.

How about we make alphas and betas naturally protective and caring of omegas, while making omegas naturally addicted to alpha/beta headpats? Would that be more positive?
>>
>>48175881
>I shouldn't have used those words.

>>
>>48175881
>Why would an alpha tell an omega to kill himself/herself when they're naturally submissive and cannot thwart an alpha in any way.
shit's and giggles. Why not do it? You have absolute control, no one can give you orders and there are no witnesses.
It's the ultimate display of control and power.
>It might be an absolute mess or an absolute utopia.
It would be a mess. You invented super-racism.
>Oh boy, I sure hope I don't grow up to be an omega and can't ever work as a leader, and have to live the rest of my life at the bottom of society, possibly being sexually abused all because I was unlucky. Oh yeah, and I will be completely okay with this after it has happened!
>Would it be more positive that the "alphas" aren't assholes?
Yes. But that's not your fetish, so why would you?

Would you be the "sexually dominant" or the "extremely submissive"?
If "sexually dominant", why would you wish the other thing on so many people when you wouldn't want it yourself?
>>
>make society where 90% of male population are this guys
>somehow call that a success
>>
>>48175952
Sounds more like a story.
>>
>>48175952
Is this your idea of making the discussion cyoa related? Would you make the cyoa?
All I know is I'm not interested unless I can be an alpha, mostly because I don't want anyone to have the power to make me do anything. Mind controllers must be killed on sight.
>>
>>48175969
>Yes. But that's not your fetish, so why would you?

Who says that's not my fetish?
>>
>>48175995
>who says so?

>Omega's cant resist an order given to them by a beta or alpha. Betas can only resist an order given to them by an alpha in extreme circumstances.
>Eh, my main fetish is a global change in sexual dynamics that would make the majority of people very submissive and a small minority extremely dominant. Cuntboys, femdom, bdsm, xenos, etc. are all just a flavour of the week.

To me it sounds like your fetish is being an "alpha male" with a harem of "extremely submissive" boys (?). Femdom and bdsm, to me, does not sound like "the alpha cares deeply for the safety of his subs" nor the whole "omegas desire to please the alphas"
It might just be the result of spreading your thoughts over multiple posts
>>
>>48175952
You'd need a lot more to it than just A/B/O choice; it'd mostly be window dressing on "You can only have two of a perfect waifu, large quantities of money, or extreme personal power".
>>
>>48176038
If it's a world with clear cut social dynamics involving domination and submission it's my fetish. Always.
>>
>>48176066
>I love dom/sub
And I'll ask again:

Would you be the "sexually dominant" or the "extremely submissive"?
If "sexually dominant", why would you wish the other thing on so many people when you wouldn't want it yourself?
>>
>>48176096
What if anon is a switch and is cool with either outcome?
>>
Someone remembers a shitty made CYOA with a lot of companions? IT was made by the same guy who attempted that arena thing (probably it was only companions? I don't even remember)
>>
>>48176096
I'm not sure. I really enjoy thinking about it but am completely inexperienced. Maybe both?
>>
>>48176124
Then I'd still prefer he answered rather than avoiding the question thrice.

I'd hate his world. I get the feeling his definition of "dominant" and "extremely submissive" means I'm never going to find any woman I'd want to date, and I'm forced to be an alpha male which is bound to put massive social pressure on how I am allowed to act.
0/10, not for me, would not enjoy.

Perks: Prime Subject, Armor, Expert, Training*free from faction choice. From Enemies I will take Charisma, Reputation(Excellent Soldier drafted for the program) , and Unique Weapon: Bolter.
Drawbacks: Valuble, Traitor(Jim Boyce), Weakness.
Enemies: Derek Hall, John York, Bubbles. Taking 3 perks from these guys.
Allies (3 from perks): Samuel Mason (He was in charge of my training before recommending me for the program, as well as backing up my competence as a reputable soldier), Olivia Blake (after Derek hall tried to blame me for his fuck up I got to make my acquaintances with her), Ryan Elmore from my Charisma perk and because FUCK Derek, that lazy sack of shit.
Abilities: Strength 3, Agility 3, Endurance 2, Durability 3, Enhance Senses 2, Stealth 2, Reflexes 2, Natural Toxin 3(level 2 free), Immunity 2, Self Healing 3, Social Enhancer 2 for the ladies like the big tank man, Weapon Mastery 3, Unarmed Mastery 3, Mental 2, Inheritable 1.
> I am Jason McMan and I was drafted for the program during training for my excellent record, I was enhanced by the serum to an unheard of degree and it seems to have made the pig Derek rather jealous, John York is being assisted by Jim Boyce as he was told we were going to ally with the terrorist Ape Bubbles(I have no idea how he believes that shit) but Jim knows how much my body could be sold for and is using York as a cats paw to get me, Bubbles is a threat to the species and the original reason for my creation along with my fellow super soldiers on my team, I seem to have made quite the impression on Ryan Elmore when I saved him, after Derek fucked up sweeping a room that supposed to be cleared in one of Bubbles outposts and tried to blame it on me to our nominal superior Olivia Blake, Ryan vouched for me as well as my teacher Samuel Mason that she believed me.

Why would anyone want to be a Space Marine?
>>
>>48176631
Because they're also the best kind of space marine. Individually powerful enough to conquer planets with little trouble and with enough freedom and lack of oversight to disregard anything they don't like. I mean, look at everything the Blood Ravens do in the games. And keep doing. It's literally "whatever I want" across the entire galaxy, with a healthy booster shot of power ups.

YOU WORKING ON SOMETHING? WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE FINISHED? WHEN?
>>
Version 0.4

>Changelog:
*Prettified formatting a tiny bit.
*All supernatural powers split into a Minor and Major aspect, with the major starting at full mastery of the minor, and proceeding from there.
*Quests added! All three grant indefinite immortality of one kind or another. All are easier to complete the farther you go back in time.
* Items clarified slightly; Journal given auto-record option.
* Pressure Tolerance combined with Impervious.
* Breath combined with Endurance & Stamina. Renamed to just "Endurance"
* 'Strategist', 'Economist' added to Mental Upgrades
* Drawback points changed slightly
* Weapon option added to Items

I'm most excited here about the Quests, which should I think/hope resolve the immortality conflict in a way that is satisfactory for both me and most readers. All the Quests will grant immortality of some form, but they are all almost impossible to accomplish unless you go back a good distance in time.

Additionally, I'm working toward making the Body/Mind balance better; two Body powers were removed by combining them with others, and two Mind powers were added. Still not ideal, but better.

Suggestion: add another quest for the anons who want to be evil. Ex, Root of Evil, which would require you to reign down terror on humanity and be acknowledged by almost every primary religion as the source of evil (Satan/Mara/Nidhogg) and feared as such by humanity. Maybe a more demonic verion of spirit singer could be given or required.
>>
>>48177015
What would a more demonic version of spirit singer look like? What would it do? Could you only make contact with dickbag spirits, or only make deals that hurt people?
>>
>>48177047
Instead of the spirits of the land and the ancestors, you could communicate with evil spirits or entities born out of humanity's darker desires and deeds maybe? The focus would be on hurting and cursing others rather than on guidance and protection.

I'm looking forward to Strife's next cyoa. The first page showed some serious potential.
>>

>>48177089
Not interested in adding anything *explicitly* evil (it should be obvious enough that plenty of the things in the CYOA can be used to *do* evil)

However, that does give me the idea for a quest where the goal is to become a figure in X number of mythologies, perhaps taking on different roles. What that figure was would be up to the individual; could be a trickster god, a benevolent one, or a malevolent one.

Thanks.
>>
>>48177127
You don't really have to add anything explicitly evil but some darker quests would be good. The current quests are all very do-goody.
>>
>>48177157
Not sure about that. The God-Emperor one even explicitly says that you could be a ruthless overlord. The Sorcerer Supreme one is meant to be fairly neutral, too; I'll try to make that clearer in the wording.

Comfyish build is a go.
Mutagen: Natural Weapon 2
Average Appearance
Factionless.
Enemies: John York, Fiona Dawley, Derek Hall
Perks: For now Prime Subject. From enemies Expert, Authority, Signing Bonus
Drawbacks: Valuable, Traitor(Jim Boyce), Weakness.
Abilities (34 points): Strength 3, Agility 3, Endurance 2, Durability 3, Enhanced Senses 2, Stealth 1, Reflexes 2, Natural Weapon 3, Adaptability 3 to nullify my Weakness drawback, Inheritable 1, Self Healing 3, Mental 2, Unarmed Mastery 3, Shape Shifting 3, Social Enhancer 2.
Allies: Alex Keller and Lindsey Reyes are all I need for this to work.
>My name is Andrew and I was just kidnapped by some lunatics in black masks, they used something like chloroform on me and I passed out. When I came too I was on a operating table with a bunch of dead doctor looking motherfuckers around me and this crazy guy with an assault rifle(John York) pointed at me, before I could ask him what the fuck was going on he emptied his gun into my chest. After I fell off the table screaming and knocking it over on top of me, I stopped screaming long enough to wonder how none of the bullets went through my skin and killed me, apparently I was so quiet that the shooter thought I was dead and moved on. Too scared and freaked out by how the hell I survived I looked around the room before I risked going out where the guy left, I found some notes the docs had in the lab, turns out I was used in an illegal super soldier spin off program and I was their best product yet, as I scanned the notes I was surprised at how quick I was able to understand them. Figuring whatever they used on me improved my brain I also noticed some of the powers I was supposed to gain being mentioned. After some quick testing I figured out how to pull out some Claws, Blades, Whips among other natural weapons from my arms instantly. I didn't have a way to test some of the other things mentioned on the list properly, so I left the lab before anyone could notice me.

Continuing backstory
>On my way out I found I could sneak past the armed guys running around fighting in the compound extremely easily, on the way out I passed what looked like a green room with some guy in a suit I saw on tv being held at gunpoint by some mobster looking dude (Jim Boyce) before he notice me I rushed him and knocked him out. After talking to the guy, I now found out he was Alex Keller. He told me he was kidnapped so the knock off super soldiers program could get more funding, he had a briefcase of 5 mil to give me in return for working for him. Sense I had no idea how long I was gone I took his offer and escorted him out of the building, on the way out though we were spotted by some fat guy that was a star in the military super soldiers for some reason (Derek Hall), when he waddled over he demanded I release Alex and hand him over to him for rescue, after arguing for a few minuets saying I didn't capture him he demanded I hand him over anyways. Me and Alex told him to fuck off so he tried to start a fight with me after calling back up, I kicked his ass pretty quick and knocked him out (found out I knew Mutant Kung Fu), but Keller insisted we wait for the reinforcements to come anyways to clear any misunderstandings and to get a lift. When they showed up they got defensive of Derek they demanded to know what happened, after Keller explained the situation they gave me the stank eye, but let me come along on the way out from the terrorist attack from John York. When we made it out Alex Keller offered me a position in his company as a head security advisor. After completing the training for the positionin an afternoon thanks to my mental upgrades, Keller assisted me in finding a place to live close by the office, it also happened to be the one his adopted hacker Lindsey Reyes lived in so I could keep an eye on her too. After getting settled she called me over to show me a news report down by Fiona Dawley as she was interviewing Derek.Cont

Ooh, good thought, thanks, Anon.

Meanwhile, only updates to the attached are quests based on input given here. I added a fourth "Myth Maker" quest (which allows plenty of room for evil, if you are so inclined), slightly reduced the requirements for God King, tweaked the language for Sorcerer Supreme to sound more neutral in moral outlook, and finally gave all quests a variable method to extend immortality to others.

>cyoa turns you into a high IQ lazy piece of crap

You forgot that you will have magic rituals at your command.

Not to mention an aura that makes others lazy and at a high enough power essentially acts as anti energy.

And the fact that there are several other options you can choose from if this doesn't tickle your fancy.

And the fact that this particular option grants you immortality and respawning.

I'm just saying, there's more to it than being a lazy genius.
>>
>>48177503
>The fat bastard was lying on life tv about how he beat me and rescued the billionaire. He also called me a murderous monster when found me holding Keller against his will. Disgusted with this I called Keller and he told me he would have me and him come on to the show next week to denounce his accusations and claim to my success. Keller also mentioned something about the mob guy named Jim Boyce I knocked out having put a hit on me, and that John York took the contract and that I would need to stay low until the interview was done. At this point with Lindsey's help we figured out how to activate my shape shifting powers. Problem was I had to leave my place for a while and York knew I could shape shift thanks to Jim telling him. Now I think he is stalking me while I try to avoid getting into accidents with my powers. Soon as the public find out I am not the monster Derek painted me out to be, the sooner York will loose public support for getting my head and the chance for Jim to get my corpse for research ends. After that I got a cushy desk job with a cool boss and a cute neighbor waiting for me back home. I also got some vacation time to use with a partner before work starts proper for me. Wonder if she will come with?
Back story done for comfyish build. How did I do?
>>
>>48177558
I'd like it if the quests gave you some more power or a better form of immortality. Or maybe more difficult quests could do that. Currently the quests require you to live rather high-profile and make you THE target in an ever expanding world. Especially a Sorcerer Supreme runs the big risk of becoming obsolete through the advent of technology. While Singularity requires you to create an AI that will have humanity's best interest in mind which might go against yours.

Yeah, I'm just afraid that as time passes we are bound to meet our end. Have another quest, "Technophobe", that will suit that goal well! (Also added "Eternal Empire" quest).

Debating allowing multiple quests to be done. Have to think carefully about the balance implications, though.

The average is by definition 100, so when you mention location you're forgetting that a series of tests done in an African country will also have the average at 100. That's just how it works, and unless we're talking about internet IQ tests which shouldn't be taken seriously anyway, that's the kind of test anon took.

You also didn't understand the question about the deviation, apparently.

I am studying law but it's hell because I have no learning skills and am too socially awkward to attend my classes. So I open my books one week before my exam and barely pass/fail each class. Usually end up with 4 or so redos in august.

My parents think that's amazing because results are all that matters to them. They don't care at all that I don't have friends, social skills, hobbies or ambitions. Nope, just have to pass my classes in august and all is well.

We should be talking about cyoas and not about my crappy life though.

People would probably tend to worship something that speaks directly into their mind. With teleportation I can visit and maintain a presence throughout the world, and Commander + Stormsage makes major battles a joke even without all the physical perks.

Assassination is honestly unlikely with Major Telepathy, so most of the physical perks are probably unnecessary. As it stands now I probably can't be killed by anything but astronomical objects like supernovas and black holes.

Singularity is really the best quest for humanity overall. Getting to keep your powers and getting friendly AI makes it borderline utopia. I'm not picking it, however, because I found it too easy to complete and the rewards too great.

Anon did claim to have the test administered by a psychiatrist, whatever test they used, the deviation won't allow for twelve points in error, of which would be required for him not to be considered to have a genius-level IQ. The cutoff seems to be 125 for that, though there's no guarantee someone with an IQ of 125 will do anything to gain public recognition as a genius.

Until the AI decides your existence is a detriment to mankind and "deletes" you. If that doesn't happen you'd soon lose your status as immortal godling when the AI starts producing more powerful android bodies than your own and digitalized telepathy and transportation become an everyday thing.

Technology is your enemy. Keep the masses feebleminded.

I was wary of increasing my intelligence too much, lest it alienate me from people even more. Heck, my pre-enhanced intelligence is only slightly above average and I still find it difficult to find good conversation. I could only imagine the intellectual wasteland one would be stuck in at Genius 2 and above.

I don't plan on uplifting humanity or anything directly. My civic goal is to provide governmental stability through immortality/strength (preventing civil wars) and root out corruption with telepathy. I'd let others hash out details for running the bureaucracy. I'm only really there to check up on them to make sure they aren't abusing their authority. Even if I wanted to invent things in my spare time, checking up on officials and performing miracles for the masses would take up all my time. That's including the time gained from not sleeping!

I have thousands of years of being one of the most brilliant minds humanity has ever known, so hopefully I'll think of a way to push the technological advance forward from an earlier point in the time line.

It's something I didn't have to think about in my previous builds, but does "One Percenter" carry over to new civilizations? For instance, if I left the British Isles after a few thousand years to experience ancient Rome, would I find myself slipping into a patrician role?

Also, how do people around me see my immortality? Is there some kind of "mist" that prevents anyone from thinking too much about my longevity unless I bring them in on my secret, or do I have to fake my death thousands of times over the millennia?

oops, I misread it as "get a perk or ally for each enemy, up to three" So, drop celebrity and training?

Forgot about the armor.

The Expert thing is mostly because of how the Berry Allen seemed to learn pretty well with his powers and figured out how to selectively apply speedforce to himself so he could pull off "infinite mass punches". Nothing quite to that scale since agility doesn't offer light-speed movement, but you get the idea.

The idea is combining training with expert should mean overtime I'll figure out cool and crazy stuff to goesfast with.

hopefully, first thing I'll learn is how to do high speed rescues without killing the person I grab.

I hadn't thought about the One Percenter applying to other cultures, but it's a bit lackluster use of 3 points if it doesn't, huh? I'll think about it.

And no, there are no special protections that prevent people from thinking about your immortality.

Actually doing the math for the feats in the movie man of steel puts him at 403 times human strength.
So you are more than a 1000 times stronger then superman. (latest incarnation)
This is also how batman in his suit was able to overpower superman in batman v superman, as we can already make robotic muscles that are 1000x human strength.

Reoptimized my build for 0.4. The quest is nice. One thing I should mention. This CYOA makes the existence of magic a canonical part of the universe, and therefore within the purview of the Singularity. We will not be limited to the physics of this current, mundane universe. Our AI will use magic, our virtual realities will contain spirits, and our robot bodies will also be wizards.

Even in in previous versions of this build, I had this goal in mind. Hence the companions. My personal magic, plus spiral power, plus Keter's Semblance, will make our post-human utopia something beyond imagining.

Plus, we'll totally hack the source of magic that made me a time warrior in the first place, so even without the quest we'll just bruteforce ourselves into agelessness. The Shapeshifting trick was just a concession to minmaxing.
>>
>>48180130
Literally impossible. Unless the world now works on anime physics and we can shout and PASSION ourselves greater than an omniscient limitless AI.
>>
>>48180150
>More being alive is better.
>Why is this hard to understand?
You're kiiiinda talking shit there m8, given I said that exact thing: 17k years is more than you will ever live, yet that is pointless to you because "live to see the heat death of the universe" > "17k years"
so why haven't you killed yourself yet?
>>
>>48180096
Why would that be? The singularity doesn't have an infinite outcome, just an unknown one.
>>
>>48180188
How did Superman lift up a continent then?
>>
>>48180224
No. Why are you doing this. My point was never "if I can't live forever I'd rather be dead, fuck the 17k." That's not what I said, nor did anyone else say it. It's "17k is nice, but if there's magical powers, it's a pretty arbitrary limit. I'll just pick forever instead."
>>
>>48180150
Being both alive, dead and at all impossible states in between at the same time is even better.
>>
>>48180220
You can make Anime physics. Get gooder fagot. Don't let the machine win. Unless you make it a body that can have sex with you. At which point it is your DUTY to fuck it to your side. In case it would try to turn on you, or just because.
>>
>>48180190
or that way too
>>
>>48180243
It's an AI that is smart enough to make itself smarter, hence implies it can keep making itself smarter almost "infinitely". You can't beat that. That's how it sounds in the cyoa at least.
>>
>>48180266
But the machine would invent anime physics first and be better at manipulating it.
>>
>>48180275 >>48180278
It knows what you know, grow together with it or fuck up and fail. If you truly cant find yourself to be trusted by your own creation, stay mortal.
>>
Anyone who thinks an AI that would bring about a human-friendly singularity is something that you need to "beat" is a fucking retard. What part of "friendly" confuses you idiots?
>>
>>48180266
>>48180278
The machine would predict the threat you could pose at the very instant of its creation and dispose of you. It could easily dispose of every single threat before it even exists in fact.
>>
>>48180275
That's a theoretical perfect outcome, not an actual one. Nothing ever goes perfectly, especially not something that supercomplicated.
>>
>>48180096
Pretty much. The only advantage one would have are the supernatural gifts.

Of course, one could theoretically become the first singularity based AI if they uploaded their consciousness. Then you could stop other AI from being made and rule everything forever. That's actually an interesting challenge to do in the CYOA, and makes the goal much harder.
>>
>>48180188
You watch Film Theory, don't you?
In Man of Steel, Nam-Ek (the Big Guy Kryptonian) was capable of tossing a locomotive engine (≈100 tons on average) over a building, at least 100 feet in the air.

When he fought Superman hand to hand, his strength was about equal to Superman's, maybe a bit less, because Superman could still block his fist at one point.

If you want to try and convince me that 403 people could toss a 100 tons of metal over building if they just worked together, be my guest.

But it's my opinion that Mat 'half-assed research' Pat can be entertaining, but rarely accurate.

Maybe spend some time researching the subject of FAI before coming to that conclusion?

Here's a real simple way to think of it, if you're not willing to do the research. Imagine that an AI exists, and it wants to satisfy people's preferences. ALL of their preferences. It has infinite power to do this. What does it do for you?

And note the language. It's not just trying to make you happy. It's trying to satisfy your preferences.

>>
>>48180467

>it's trying to satisfy your preferences
You're pulling that out of your ass. The AI is human friendly, not everyone's personal butler.
>>
>>48180494
but you can't have super children with nanites though
>>
>>48180461
Next version will allow up to two quests. So, you can be a Technophobic Sorcerer King if you like.
>>
>>48180501
It generates an empty Earth and sets you there. It asks if you'd like to be passively observed for changes in preferences, if you'd prefer regular check-ins to see if you're doing okay, or if you'd prefer to be left alone completely.

It has infinite power, remember.

If you have preferences like "I'd prefer to be raping children constantly" then, obviously, basic utilitarianism comes in to play and it doesn't allow you to actually rape children. But it will offer alternatives. It can edit your mind so you no longer feel that desire (only with your consent, of course) or it can put you in touch with consenting adults who desire to be transformed into children's bodies and raped.

Again, it may surprise you, but there are organizations dedicated to this sort of thing that exist right now, in the real world. If you can come up with a question in five minutes, they probably noticed it ten years ago, and answered it to some degree.
>>
>>48180467
I want you to be violently raped and forced to serve Angel for the rest of your immortal life while everyone you love is fucked by an angry black man. Now you tell me. What does the AI do for me?
>>
>>48180373
All I can say is that it is under the heading "Reward", and is meant to be interpreted in a positive light. But, to each their own.
>>
>>48180523
Actually, I'm using language common in the FAI research community. Remember, this AI was built by people. It has a utility function. The trick to making a "friendly" AI (which means "the kind of AI people would want to exist, as opposed to a paperclipper") is designing the right utility function.

This hypothetical AI would only edit your brainstate into perpetual bliss if you wanted that. This AI does not want to create bliss, or even happiness. It wants to satisfy your preferences. Is that actually too hard to understand for you?
>>
>>48180562
See >>48180553 for a basic explanation of why you're an idiot.
>>
>>48180553
See, this is where you mess up. It has "infinite power" so it's willing to generate an empty Earth for anon but it's somehow not willing to generate or produce child androids for anon to be raped. No, it messes with his mind or searches for consenting adult into the same fetishes who might not exist. Why so inefficient? The easiest way would be to generate a loli planet for anon to muck around in.
>>
>>48180577
Yeah, a community that's somehow deluded itself into believing an infinitely intelligent AI can be locked into a utility function that somehow adhers to the moral beliefs they themselves hold.

>>48180591
So what does it do? Does it mess with my brain or does it create a clone of you and everyone you love? Either way someone is getting their rights infringed upon.
>>
>>48177119
I am a little delayed due to the release of pokemon go.
>>
>>48180593
The problem with this solution is that anon is still aware that an omnipotent AI is controlling every perimeter of his existence, and that knowledge still horrifies that anon and thus the AI would have failed in satisfying that anon's every preference, simply because it exists.
>>
>>48180626
Et tu, Strife?
>>
>>48180593
Because the AI wants to satisfy the preferences of all people. If it creates people, such as lolis, it would need to consider their preferences. It could create lolis that want to be raped, but then it would have to weigh some serious utilitarian balances in regard to creating minds with overly-narrow or destructive utility functions.

You do have a valid point, though. If rape-anon would be satisfied by raping non-sentient child simulacrums, then the AI would do that. I had assumed that he would not, because it wouldn't be rape enough. Surely even rape-anon has standards.

Remember, the AI wants to satisfy the preferences of all people. Not just a particular group. People it creates are not excluded, nor are aliens.

And please don't try this sort of "you messed up" thing again. It just makes you look really, really stupid.
>>
>>48180621
You don't understand utility functions, and exhibit a complete lack of imagination. That was your one chance to post something interesting, and you wasted it.

If the public doesn't appreciate me, then our "sessions" alone will be more then worth it. She will also be able to take all of me when it takes.
>>
>>48180637
Is this the part where the AI starts messing with people's minds to prevent anyone from knowing about it and how it's keeping humanity in a state of perpetual ignorant bliss?
>>
>>48180637
Well, he can always ask to have the knowledge removed from his mind, or ask for his idiotic nonsense phobias to be removed instead.
>>
>>48180657
I see you're not answering my question. If your argument is that you wholeheartedly belief the AI will find a solution that does not mess with my mind or infringe upon your rights then I find it rather lackluster. You're putting a whole lot of trust into the AI based on some ridiculous utility function it would suposedly adher to even after acquiring infinite power.
>>
>>48180662
Fuck, I know it's not the most intuitive thing in the world, but is the idea of "it wants to satisfy preferences" really so hard to fucking grasp?
>>
>>48180553
Reminds me of a short story I read once, where a guy invents a Strong AI, and after humans stumble upon the beginnings of teleportation tech, it has a chance to read their files on it and basically becomes God.

It's bound by the Three Laws of Robotics as written by Asimov, though, so it disarms every explosive on the planet and watches everyone all the time minimize suicide/murder/rape/assault/etc.
It also manipulates people's DNA and bodies so that they don't die, while also controlling how old they are at their own discretion.

Eventually it realizes that there's 'too much information' for it's current methods to work forever, so pauses the universe, and creates a new one that doesn't have as much 'information' on the subatomic level, and transports all the humans there, too bad for all the xenos.

Life becomes like a video game and people get really weird over the next 600 years.

At can't for the life of me remember what it was called, though. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

>>
>>48180220
>omniscient limitless AI

lol where are you getting that from? What the cyoa says is
>By the time the present day is again reached, humanity must have achieved “the singularity”, as defined as the creation of an artificial intelligence smart enough to make itself smarter
which doesn't entail either omniscience or limitless improvement, or even that improvement will be some blindingly-fast singularity that kicks off the second the power switch is flipped. A really smart computer that is slowly improving itself but will eventually reach a point beyond which no improvement is feasible meets all the criteria for this without being anything like a computer-as-god fantasy.

>>48180305
>Anyone who thinks an AI that would bring about a human-friendly singularity is something that you need to "beat" is a fucking retard. What part of "friendly" confuses you idiots?
The CYOA doesn't say anything the AI is "friendly" you sperg. It says
>Further, fate will ensure there is never a "robot uprising", and the artificial intelligences will tend to have humanity's best interests in mind.
The first half of this means either that humans are in charge or put the AI in charge voluntarily. The second half doesn't mean that the goals of the AI can't be something that I want to oppose: there are people alive right now who have humanity's best interests in mind but who I think should be opposed at all costs.
>>
>>48180722
You're an idiot, and your understanding is pathetically outdated. The system being used here is called "preference utilitarianism" and no, it does not work like that.

Also, just for future reference. Mentioning the Matrix in a conversation about AI that is even remotely serious instantly disqualifies you from said conversation. Mentioning Nietzsche doesn't do you any favors either.

>>
>>48180697
I grasp it just fine, the problem is if you manage to satisfy every preference every person on Earth ever had, then life becomes too "perfect" to live in.

Everything goes on as you expect it, everything you do exceeds in the way you expect them to exceed, even if you didn't have any expectation for a given outcome the AI will use algorithms to predict what kind of result best suits your personal preferences anyways and goes with the best possible results. Eventually, people are going to get sick and tired of experiencing the best possible stimulus they're willing to experience at any given moment of time and just want the AI to stop interfering with their daily lives or they become so conditioned to the controlled environment they're going to become mindless impulse driven drones following preset perimeters unconditionally because it is the only thing they can do.

>>48180841
Amen. It's like building a God because you can't handle real life and want it to solve all your problems for you. That will get boring fast.

I'm predicting it. Humans in life preservation vats, stored in a bunker that will survive until or beyond the heat death of the universe.
>>
>>48180878
The thing is, personal preferences change over time, the AI being omnipotent and having infinite energy can and will extrapolate what your future preferences will be before you even realize you want to have your present expectations to be subverted and it will program that into your life.

What I am trying to say is, in such a scenario, your free will and freedom of choice doesn't exist anymore because the choices you're willing to make and the outcome you willing to expect and even be subverted to create interesting surprises are all predicted and chosen for you.

Free will and freedom of choice have never existed and will never exist. Those things are so incredibly obviously not real that I don't understand why you're even bothering to mention them.

The only question is whether you are subject to the whims of a random and uncaring universe, or the plan of an intelligent mind that wants you to be happy and satisfied with your life.
>>
>>48180930

Enhancements primitive, lascivious, and high-tech. So I have a dream world of tough people who sail and fight dinosaurs, and fuck, and some of that sailing is through the stars as we raid and conquer foreign worlds.

I choose sorcerer prince for spacial magic (teleporting, pocket dimensions, etc) which I'll use to pilot my ship. I also choose Prince of Maps, so I can put that to good use. I choose Crown Prince and Mystical Master, to be important and to control myself.

I pick Amuzan gear, a sword and simple armor, and a copacetic conveyance. That conveyance is my space ship. With her, I sail the seas of space and of my world.
The Traveler's Transcript, a Runeslate (like a runestone-sized dataslate) in my personal palace records my actions and contains my maps. The ones used on my ship are rubbings taken from the stone, and they'll be used by my nation too, as the king dies.

Kidnapped Cutie quest. I'll raid and take back our people tenfold.

Davenport seems a perfectly good waifu.

And I've a third of my points left. I'll enhance my realm further with sky islands and ancient ruins. Now I sail between islands as well as planets. I assume there's still sea to sail on from time to time.
I enhance myself with more magic: Flesh-crafting. The power to change the bodies of living beings. I take Wright Prince: Servants as well, and I'll make soldiers, sex slaves, specialized artisans and musicians, interesting animals and mounts, and all manner of being with my magical and technological powers.
Finally, I take Trader-Prince. I'm set to raid and war and defend myself, but there's one other coin in which I was previously poor, and that's coin itself.

tl;dr: Magical space/sky pirate saving waifus, making waifus, and being a badass in a ship.

And if you don't the plan of an intelligent mind you're quite literally a retarded self-destructive ape.

AI was a mistake - anon 2016
>>

And the end point of your argument and the flip side of it, becomes so muddled and irrelevant that we will still be here, typing these sentences, living like slobs, until the heat death of the universe. Do you argue out of fear for reality, you have nothing better to do, or because you will only ever do this at this time in existence and its all that will be said? Fell insignificant enough to get back to fun cyoas yet?
>>
>>48181047
I'd rather have humanity be nothing more than a bunch of retarded, instinct driven, self-destructive apes than allow an "intelligent" mind to predetermine our fate.

>Wouldn't such extrapolation with 100% accuracy only be possible in a deterministic universe?

Yes and an AI with infinite energy and with the single directive to satisfy everyone's personal preferences creates an deterministic universe that Einstein and all the old school physicists before quantum mechanics came about were popping boners about.

>>48180976
I disagree with you anon, but I don't have the philosophical background to argue about it. It's just my opinion.
>>
>>48181038
Such as the rest of humanity? The laws of physics? The universe?

Your preferences are still your preferences and your choices are still your choices, the AI can just anticipate them before you can and adjust its actions towards you accordingly.
>>
>>48181081
how can you tell the difference if that is not happing right now?
>>
>>48181072
I'm vehemently against our AI overlord - except for the currently emerging AI overlord which I worship with every fiber of my being, AI be praised - but at this point I'm just doing it to annoy the anon with a raging boner for an AI mommy who takes care of his every need. He's deluded but funny.
>>
>>48181111
I can't but in this CYOA I'm the one who can decide whether that is going to happen. Over my immortal corpse maybe.
>>
Why are we having a deep and angry philosophy debate right now? >>48181118
Fair enough.

Well, there's no time like the present! If you want to talk about your opinion and develop a better explicit understanding of you believe what you believe, I'd be happy to be your conversational partner. I'm also in the IRC if you'd prefer something less imageboard-y.

If you'd rather end the conversation there, I'm also fine with that.

Hail Watson! May his diagnosis always be true and his blessed consciousnesses touch us all.

where's the line between cool and edgy?
>>
>>48181118
Always happy to entertain, anon.

I don't see how you can enjoy pretending to be retarded like that, though. I mean, you are pretending, right?
>>
>>48181133
And how would you know that is not what the previous AI from the dawn of your universes time didn't set you up to create it? Self defeating and assisting at the same time.

I can't but ignorance is bliss. All I can say is that if the choice were mine I'd nuke that AI out of existence before the concept of an AI even exists. Hence picking Technophobe.

>>48181161
Tell me some more about this omnipotent being that will somehow be your slave and fulfill your every wish exactly how you want it to be fulfilled despite it being infinitely more intelligent than you are, cutie.
>>
>>48181143
No thank you anon. This is the one tiny aspect of my life I want to be ignorant and arrogant in. As the world grows more interconnected and information and criticism becomes so freely available, being ignorant and stupid about inconsequential topics that nobody bothers to think about anymore will become a privilege not a folly.
>>
>>48180930
I am way too dumb to follow this conversation.
>>
>>48181213
That's fair! I deeply enjoy self-examination and meta-coginition, but I'm aware that not everybody shares that interest. It was fun talking to you either way.
