Carapace added to my vision of Numidium.
Obviously it looks like a clusterfuck because it's layers on top of each other but now time to clean up the layers and add color, then do other other sides of the t-pose and model this guy.
>>
>>47851584
Thing is that Azura's motive for plotting to kill Tribunal is just petty revenge for betraying her and killing Nerevarine. She really isn't that different from other Daedra. The way she talks to player (in Morrowind) is also very egotistical, bitter and generally bitchy. Ironically she seems very much like Almalexia despite Almalexia not being her anticipation, but rather Sotha Sil that is completely different than Azura.

Also, note that the curse is not necessary Azura's doing. It could well be just side effect on Tribunal fucking with heart. Azura took the blame, but it's not clear that she did it and to be honest it's unlikely she would have such powers on Mundus especially in a time when most of the Towers were active.

It looks pretty much as I would picture Numidium myself, except that I would have it's face to be more Dwemer-like with beard and all. It's a nice compromise with portrayals of daggerfall (spiky fleshy/stoney thing) and brass golem style of later games.
>>
>>47852232
It's not visible now because of no coloring and clusterfuck of layers but he has a giant beard that is made up of three joints attached to his chin and colored carapace on these joints.

It's a dwemer text, but the illustration in it is concept art of Akulakhan drawn by MK, even if I didn't have all the concept art collected I would notice it because this portrayal of Numidium is broken in the same way and unfinished in the same way Akulakhan is.

Afaik Akulakhan is pretty much direct copy of the original (it even has Dwemer face, but interestingly, there is some odd connection with Dwemer and Dagoths, possibly has something to do with both being heavy on nihilism), so it doesn't seem that out of place to me. It's a bit ridiculous how both of them are in similar state of construction though.

Though I recall that instead of transmuting souls, the flesh of Akulachan was created out of corprus, but I don't think there were other changes to design.

Do you milk drinkers know about motherfucking YSGRAMOR?

Ebony is the blood of lorkhan. Ysgramor cried ebony tears after the falmer raided Saarthal. Ysgramor is a shezarrine. His tears were used to forge Wuuthrad, which makes it a lorkhanic artifact. It's also enchanted by Ahzidal.

Look at his statue and how he holds Wuuthrad. You can also find his shield in his tomb, which looks hilariously oversized on the player character. The player can't use both his axe and his shield because the axe is two-handed and huge. Ysgramor's statue is life-size, and he was able to use both Wuuthrad and his shield.

According to ''Fragmentae Abyssum Hermaeus Morus'', Ysgramor was nearly turned into an elf by Hermaeus Mora, who took the shape of a hare, but a fox (Shor) saves him, and warns him about elven trickery. This was in Atmora, before Ysgramor had met any elves at all. Shor destined him to go on elf killing sprees before he even knew what they were.

I wish we had more info on this guy, especially about his meetings with Hermaeus Mora.

Veiled behind his mask of snow,
Which dragons breathed of silver stone,
Calling dead from depths below,
The Crow Thane in his Hall of Bone.

Men thrown to the White Wyrm's maw,
Women, bairns of Winter's Hold,
Spoke he oaths to dragons' law,
Woke he lord of wights and mold.

Wails and tears the wine-wives pine,
For warriors left in blood to drown,
Comes the son of Ysgrim's line,
A young boy in a Jagged Crown.

Nordmen gathering to his calls,
Bearing spears and axes long,
Kin avenging ravaged halls,
Bold and desperate their throng.

Strong are the draugrs' monstrous blows,
Striking skulls of fyrd-men red,
Hundreds lost unto the snows,
Hundreds for the hungering dead.

Ascending arch of jokull-snow,
On sleigh of spruce by mammoth drawn,
Arrows broken on his brow,
No blow may pierce the Jagged Crown.

Charging men in freezing mail,
Ripping rotting flesh and bone,
Harsh the Crow Thane's cursing wail:
The White Wyrm shall break Ysgrim's Throne.

>>47853469

Rending rebel heart and lung,
Of Crow Thane to his tomb hurled down,
Round his neck he wears the tongue,
The warrior of the Jagged Crown.

Feasting warms the ancient walls,
Of valiant men returning home,
The dead released to Sovngarde's halls,
No longer damned the white to roam.

Roaring sea of deathly hail,
Tearing at Old Windhelm's stone,
Falls the dragon's boasting wail:
The White Wyrm shall break Ysgrim's Throne.

Grey the Crow Thane's snowy veil,
By dragons forged of whispers lost,
Reshaped into a spear of pale,
By the Storm Voice, blood and frost.

White Wyrm's wings in shadowed flight,
Whispering death to lands beneath,
Halls and steads engulfed in night,
Armies shattered in his breath.

Maw unleashing razor snow,
Of dragons from the blue brought down,
Births the walking winter's woe,
The High King in his Jagged Crown.

Sharp the White Wyrm's howling song,
Splits the High King's bones and mail,
Breathing life through torc of tongue,
The spear of fate strikes dragon's scale.

By spear and shout, the dragon's pain,
Breaking scale with singing tone,
The White Wyrm at long last, now slain,
And it could not break Ysgrim's Throne.

By judgment born of war and woe,
The proudest clans and thanes kneel down,
To spear and tongue and breath of snow,
The High King in his Jagged Crown.

Azura cursing the Chimer is integral to their development as a society. It doesn't matter how she intended it at that point.

Usually Dumac isn't a part of it, or is an alternate theory, but depending on the conspiracy is goes something like Arkay and Trinimac are Malacath by way of Orkey, or the Dwemer were transformed into the Orsimer making Dumac Malacath.

Oh, you're one of THOSE people...

I'm sorry that bears and spiders and dragons are generic as fuck, what we should have done is given them the lower body of a centipede and bat wings. That would be so creative, it would make for a decent setting after all.

Because we all know the only thing that was any good about Morrowind is that it had dinosaurs, while everything like the world building and detail simply distract from the fact that there are big mushrooms. Let's make everything "Creative" by making every creature a chimera. How do you propose we "fix" dragons? Make them half walrus?

I'm aware what Aka-tusk is, what I'm saying is that dragons in TES are far more interesting than dragons in other settings, and the things you want to "fix" are just superficial.

A deep setting isn't about having Dwarves made from fire, it's a setting that can explain and integrate the fire-dwarves in an interesting way, instead of saying "Look mom, I made something whacky!"

Have you ever considered that it wasn't a good idea, or that people are fine with dragons that look like dragons because they're interesting enough without having 5 wings?

Gameplay is something I sympathize with, but that's not really something that can be helped. There is a mod that makes it a bit better, but the game system can only do so much while doing other things properly.

Maybe if they are faggots without an ounce of imagination. Look at Morrowind's main enemies. Fucking look. Then look at Skyrim's oversized lizards. Even Oblivion did it better.

I would love them having tusks as a symbol of power and feathered wings to reinforce the connection to Auri-El.

Don't take their depiction in Skyrim too literally.

Even then, to the Altmer they do have feathers, and to the Khajiit they are cats, to the Imperials they are tigers (maybe) and yes, even some of them have tusks.

It would have been better if they had tusks in Skyrim. But just because they didn't doesn't mean the concept is wrong, in the same way that the cities would have more than a dozen citizens.

Yeah, I keep getting confused with someone else.

I never said dragons in Skyrim should have tusks, but I do agree that they should.

There's zero evidence for why they shouldn't, and some slim evidence establishing a precedence.

The tiger/dragon thing is just an aside linked to the "bat tiger" (bat+tiger=dragon) and how the appearances of dragons differ in a variety of locations (that tend to be about tigers).

Okay here's an explanation involving DEEP LORE.

So far, only three player characters have seen the dragons:

1) the HoonDing
2) Sheogorath
3) Ysmir

In all cases, these are heroic figures who shape fate.

The tusks are the symbol of time(Aka). The dragons are part time, the heroes are part of time, ordinary people are not, however. Anyone who isn't a god or dragonborn sees dragons as having tusks, because from their cosmic perspective the dragons have them. Anyone who already draws power from Aka-Tusk, however, has 16-dimensional tusks of his own on the aetheric plane and so from his perspective is equally matched from the dragon, both are cosmic beings, both are tusks already and so neither perceive the tusks of the other.

tl;dr dragons have tusks but people mantling gods can't see them because they are them

She claims credit for all kinds of things, and makes utterly useless "prophecies" that she then works behind the scenes to bring to fruition (protip: that's not how "real" prophecy works) and is always very quick with her empty threats, but the power she has is purely illusory.

Azura never forces you to do anything. I think at one point she tells you the next step in the prophecies but those steps are known beforehand anyways iirc.

I don't get this obsession with High Rock and Bretons that some people have. To me they seem like another race ripped straight from real word like Nords up to their name. Sure they have some elven blood and innate abilities for magic, but is that all?

>>

Yeah, no. You're telling me Azura herself doesn't know if someone /is/ the Nerevarine beforehand? She just kept trying until /someone/ managed to "fulfil" her prophecies, it literally didn't matter to her who actually managed this, even if they weren't a dark elf or even an elf at all.

>>47857580

That's not possible either since Nerevar was just some guy, he didn't use the tools and become a god.

I really like the idea and feeling behind them. Highrock seems like a very comfy fantasy place like Hyrule. There's also the feuding lords that adds a lot of interest, but then again I prefer political intrigue campaigns and ASOFI is one of my favorite book series.

I also quite like the diversity they have. They make up a large number of agents and bards, but are also excellent wizards, and renowned for knights and adventurers.

I also love playing them. Not just for their racials, but for the feeling of being an adventurer in a foreign and strange land.

One of the most important things is how up to interpretation a lot of things are about them. How are Jephre and Phynaster worshiped, what exactly didn't Daggerfall cover, how are Bretons more in touch with nature, how is elven culture still prominent in Breton culture and in what ways, and how is magic such a huge part of everyone's lives? I feel that of all the races, they still have a lot to expand on with Bretons, although the same could be said for Argonians.
>>
>>47857667
>they thought they were the nerevarine

How did they come to this conclusion? Same way you did, via Azura.

>they were wrong and got bitchslapped for it.
She had no part in the actions of those in the cavern.

Except that it's HER test? Why didn't she tell them, "you're not the Nerevarine"? Because they /could/ have filled the role, had they managed to finish her "prophecy"!
>>
>>47857603
This is evidenced by the cave being full of failed Nerevarines. Also "Moon and Star" killing anyone who isn't Nerevarine seems to be just made up by Azura in order to restrict it to her chosen ones. It's about not mantling or reincarnation, but rather Azura choosing someone as her champion which is similar to how other Daedra manipulate and use mortals because their powers are very limited on Mundus.

Mantling was first mentioned in early as fuck Morrowind forum talks with Kuhlmann and Kirkbride, later in Nu-Hatta of the Sphinxmoth Inquiry Tree.

It was actually developed a lot more in Oblivion through commentaries on M Xarxes and in Shivering Isles DLC where you have to become Sheogorath.

But the notion that you were not necesserily Nerevarine but become one is everywhere in game, both in books and dialogues.
>>

>>47858506
Based on what the fuck exactly are you saying this?
Literally all the ingame lore related to mantling which is never direct is about becoming someone else regardless of their divinity.
The first mention of mantling which I think originally even predated Morrowind was also like that.
The Nu-Hatta of the Sphinxmoth Inquiry Tree just says this
>The Stormcrown manted by way of the fourth: the steps of the dead. Mantling and incarnation are separate roads; do not mistake this. The latter is built from the cobbles of drawn-bone destiny. The former: walk like them until they must walk like you. This is the death children bring as the Sons of Hora.

Mantling is walking like someone until they walk like you. So again what suggests that you can only mantle Gods?
Do you even understand that distinction between a god and a mortal is arbitrary? Everyone was an Ada at some point and any mortal with enough power and metafuckery can become a God.
>>
>>47858485

>>
>>47858594
Anyone who says that you are not Nerevarine when main quest ends is retarded, that's literally the point of the story.
It's about identity, and what defines a person.
I mean if there is a text saying that a person who can jump 100 meters, squat 20 times on his nose and shit radon particles shall be called the Bjorndong and he will defeat Godzilla, and then said person who defeats Godzilla appears, does it matter if the prophecy was real or not or if that guy was born Bjorndong or if he became one? He fulfills all of the criteria and as far as everyone is concerned he is Bjorndong.

There's no proof the ring actually kills people.

Or, anyone who has taken enough steps as Nerevar can wear it.

There's no reason to be upset about the idea that you may not be the Nerevarine, or that you can become him, or that you always were him.

The possibility only makes the setting better.
>>
>>47858594
I think the point was that you're not reincarnation (doesn't really happen in TES) of original Nerevar or mantling him, but rather a champion of Azura that succeeded in her revenge plot that is based on historical figure.

>>
>>47858713
Okay, what did you do in Shivering Isles DLC? It should be impossible for a mortal to actually become a Daedric Prince but you clearly do, and guess how? By Sheogorath slowly making you act like him, "walk" like him until eventually you create your own Staff of Sheogorath.

If mantling wasn't a thing why did you have to go through the whole process of becoming a Mad God instead of him just somehow passing his power on to you? Why did you symbolically have to inherit all of what Shivering Isles represents?

Again you are missing an easy fucking point that is hammered in your head when you play Morrowind.
It doesn't matter if the prophecy is real or if you are reincarnation, as far as you and everyone is concerned you fill all the criteria, prophecy became true when you fulfilled it and now everyone is safe at least for some time. I mean how can you say that prophecy was false and you are not a Nerevarine even if those were not originally true if you are currently an immortal guy who became Hortator and fucked Dagoth Ur by punching Heart of Lorkhan? That's something very specific.
It's like someone saying
>next year on 5th of april 23 planes will hit metropolitan museum of modern arts and all of these planes will be rainbow colored
Even if you are not a fucking prophet, if that very unlikely and specific thing happens your prophecy becomes true in retrospect.

I dont disagree with you, I also like the little bit of doubt
I just find it strange that people state that you are definitely not the Nerevarine when there is nothing definite to prove that.
I think people who say that havent actually played the game.
>>
>>47858884
You have to start slow man and also seem smart at first, something along the lines of
>well how do you know that it was mantling? It's never referred to as such and for all we know Sheogorath might have just wanted a guy that was as mad as him to keep on his legacy and the only moment when you actually become him is when you make the staff
Then you can slowly make your claims more and more ridiculous once you have people bated and then you can transform it into full on Dragons and Tusks debate

Not you, the other guy.

TES III is called Morrowind already in Redguard trailer

I'll never forget that. Like a 100 posts wasted on trash.

I'm fairly sure it was three. That's where the name Tribunal which was used in Morrowind evolved from.

By the release of Redguard they were probably already in preproduction of the actual Morrowind.

This,
>>47858976
>>47859012
I will find forum posts that confirm this, but yes, it was going to be Mournhold and some territories of mainland and I think I remember Todd saying that you would have to travel to parts of Vvardenfell for some final quests but they decided to make it all Vvardenfell based because main quest was tied to it more than anything anyway.
>>
>>47859017
>TES V: Romanelli, the best RPG ever
the name alone makes it hard to take serious
>>

Tribunal has nothing to do with Summerset. PGE 1 was written before/durring early development of Redguard, they knew Tribunal lived on Morrowind.
It was mournhold.

That was some /v/ tier nonsense.

Nope. From Wikipedia:

TES II was going to be called "Mournhold" and set in Mournhold but was switched.
TES III was going to be set in Sumurset and called "Tribunal" but they switched the plan to Morrowind as early as '96.

There is no evidence whatsoever that you can mantle a mortal, in fact it doesn't even make any sense in TES lore because of how death works there.

Nords (and Bretons) have far less flavor than most of them though. They stick out from rest of the setting like a sore thumb. Redguards and Imperials on the otherhand are done right though.

The setting isn't terribly original, it's the metaphysics and the attention to lore detail that makes the TES games stand out, not the cookie-cutter D&D campaign world setting.

See, we know mantling is a thing. We know you can mantle a god. No speculation involved. There's no hard evidence that says you can't mantle a man, there isn't even any speculative evidence that you can't.

These threads were better before you came here. It's easy to tell because you use the same emoticon in every one.
>>
>>47859550
gotta agree with this

mantling isn't a very common occurence, or an easy thing to do, so there'd be few incentive to mantle mortals
>>
>>47859550

Except mantling involves aligning yourself with a mythopoeic force of some kind, which can't be a dead mortal because their souls have been recycled and there is nothing there to mantle.

I'd argue majority of it is based on Viking. There are things like Sovngarde (Valhalla), draugr, mead, majority of their post-dragonic achitecture etc. Dragon lore is bit different and monotheism of Skaal though. Interestingly most of their weapons, armor and clothing aren't very viking like. For example fur armor from Morrowind is more like Mongolian which is bit strange given that Mongolian influence exist heavily in Ashlander camps.
>>
>>47859622
Now you're just forcing it.
>>
>>47859590
Okay, that's a start. We don't know the exact mechanism of mantling a god, though. You're sating that because gods cant die, they're always available to mantle. On the other hand, the memory of a person persists after their death, and that's what people would conflate you with if you began to "walk like them."

I'm not making any calls here, it's just speculation. Until we know exactly how it works, it's almost impossible to tell.
>>
>>47859650
It's mostly the visual stuff, like you said. Culturally, and even visually, there's a lot of Egyptian and Hindu stuff, for example.

Again, this is really a consequence of the limited scope of the games.
>>
>>47859662

The point of mantling is to convince the Dream that you are the person you;re pretending to be. If you convinced the dream that you are a mortal who died, you would die. Even if you somehow mantled a living mortal, you would be "rewarded" by... becoming a mortal. It makes no sense for a mortal to mantle another mortal, as well as being impossible.
>>
>>47859695

You mean mummies, right? Because that's about the only Egyptian thing about them.

As well as some other aspects of their burial rites and their pantheon. Maybe "a lot" was an exaggeration, but among other things it's there.
>>
>>47859801
>>47859724

Draugr are a purely Norse concept, the idea of corpses reanimating is found nowhere in Egyptian traditions.
>>
>>47859814
Not the reanimating corpses, their internment.
>>
>>47859838

Nothing Egyptian about that, either. Granted, barrow mounds predate the Norse, but they're not something the Egyptians would recognise as tombs either.
>>
>>47859723
Everything you just said about the process of mantling is a load of shit.
And if you dont think so please go ahead and find me a source that even implies what you just said.
You do realize that the "gods" for all intents and purposes are essentially dead mortals with infinitely large souls, right?
You know what a spirit is?
