Recruiting for an online, text-only Pathfinder game to be held over MapTool. The schedule will be decided on by the players, but the available time frames are:
Monday 10:00 P.M. GMT to Tuesday 11:30 A.M. GMT
Tuesday 10:00 P.M. GMT to Wednesday 11:30 A.M. GMT
Wednesday 10:00 P.M. GMT to Thursday 11:30 A.M. GMT
Thursday 10:00 P.M. GMT to Friday 11:30 A.M. GMT
Saturday 4:00 A.M. GMT to Saturday 10:00 A.M. GMT

This will be a combat-focused game (though not necessarily 100% combat-focused) wherein you invade Hell, battle legions of devils, and fight every unique devil on d20pfsrd.com. Asmodeus has gone missing, an extremely powerful angel has taken his place, and the angel has sent out a call challenging heroes to take the throne from him.

Two traits. 25 point buy. Roll for hit points or take the average, but you must decide beforehand. No Unchained rules. Third-party material (e.g. Dreamscarred Press) is looked upon leniently.

Characters are supposed to be CR 20 (yes, CR) and can be built from any combination of class levels, monster races (25 point buy applies, NOT the +4/+4/+2/+2/+0/–2 array), templates (e.g. Agile mythic template), mythic tiers, and PC/NPC wealth. CR must be calculated appropriately, exempting the point buy. Examples:
20th-level PC with 20th-level PC WBL = CR 20
15th-level PC with 15th-level PC WBL and mythic tier 10 = CR 20
16th-level PC with 16-level NPC WBL and mythic tier 10 = CR 20

Heavy optimization is encouraged. Dazing Spell is in, but Sacred Geometry is out.

Sword and board Antipaladin poster here. Did some rethinking and this is what I've come up with now.

Antipaladin 5/Fighter 2
Feats:
Noble Scion of War
Power Attack
Weapon Focus
1B Cornugon Smash
2B Dazzling Display
Shatter Defenses

I'm considering another dip into Thug Rogue for the intimidate and sneak attack but I'm not sure I really wanna lose 3 levels of Antipaladin...
>>
What are some oft-overlooked wondrous items for keeping yourself alive longer? (Let's put aside the "just kill the enemy faster with a better weapon haha" thing.)
I'm sure most of us here have bought a belt of constitution before, but what about items that cast Breath of Life on you should you hit 0 and other interesting gear? Any recommendations or items you like but don't see commonly?

Are you clued into the things you can do with Channel Smite or Fist of the Crusader if you have stamina?

Tell me about White-Haired Witch, /pfg/. How good is it?
>>
>>47701479

Pretty sure we aren't using stamina rules and if we are, no one has ever mentioned or used them.

I'm open to Channel Smite, it's just it costs 2 Touches, and it's wasted if I miss...
>>
>>47701486
This is a real white-haired witch.
>>
>>47701526
They're good. Crusader's Fist is a bit better, but operates off crits, whereas Channel Smite has the chance to fail, but can be done whenever and for less feats.

Channel Smite's Stamina Trick lets you double your dice, effectively giving you parity with the touches you spent, but it's all still wasted if you miss.

Crusader's Fist though, its trick lets you make the dice from your Touch be multiplied by crits. Downside is it only works on unarmed, unless you spend the feat on Ascetic Style (or one of its follow ons) to be able to do it on monk weapons. Upside is you only need to spend the Touch AFTER you know you've hit (and thus threatened), and the stamina AFTER you've confirmed.

Might be a bit hefty of an order if you've already used a bunch of feats though.
>>
>>47701486
>Tell me about
What is the best mask for it to wear?
>>
>>47701674

Yea, I'm already dipping 2 levels into fighter so I can fit in Dazzling Display and Shatter Defenses. Since Shatter Defenses will make enemies flat-footed to me though, sneak attack through Thug is looking really tasty.
>>
>>47701740
Can I ask why Dazzling Display when you could use the Shaken Cruelty? Is it a prereq for Shatter Defenses? I cant remember.
>>
>>47701486
>>47701609
>white haired witch
>your hair doesn't have to be white
>>
>>47701780

Dazzling is indeed a prereq for Shatter Defenses. Also for cruelties Sicken, Disease, Nauseated etc are more useful than Shaken.

Anon-san! Anon-san!

Please help me build a Pseudodragon cohort. Originally, I want him to be a paladin but there are 2 evil character in the party so that wouldn't fly...

Evil characters don't actually prevent flight in paladins.

Someone with more than 8 INT and WIS?
You keep the evil shit down low so nobody sees your disgustingly soul-crushing betrayal coming.
>>
>>47702276
This.
When you act like a saturday morning cartoon villain, you, the party, and the GM have *no* room to complain when after a few such acts someone in the party - probably someone who's just been fucked over or somewhat betrayed by the act - turns around and full attacks your flat-footed ass into a smoking fucking crater.
>>
>>47702089
If you're talking most effective for delivering it with a high save DC, probably Acid Fog or Tar Pool/Obsidian Flow. If Resistance and Immunity are a serious concern, Aqueous Orb and Stone Call work well too. Honorable mention to Sonic Form, if you've got a free round to set up and want to stunlock someone in melee.
>>
>>47702252
The best Evil characters make themselves indispensable to their friends. And they *make* these people their friends, just like the "one good scorpion" everyone knows in L5R.

The trick is that all those bad things you do are always FOR them, FOR their goals (even good ones), always in their (and yours of course, but you're a party; their gains are your gains) favor.

This adds a big fat layer of protection against those who aren't happy about what you do, makes what you do just that little bit more tolerable than it should to those not paladin-level-hardline, and sometimes you get them to help you out as well.

Evil people have things they love and care about. What makes them evil is that they're a lot less willing to hold back to do "nice things" for them!

Enough about evil-doer and flying. What class should my Pseudodragon be?

Just for reference, Pseudodragon stats are:
Str 7, Dex 15, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 10

I can give him +4,+4,+2,+2,+0,-2 adjustment due to being a monster with PC class.

His mental stat is probably too low for Arcane fullcaster. Maybe a Druid? Skinshaper Druid even? Dragon has that tendency to change shape and sleep with anything that move right?
>>
>>47702598
I wouldn't recommend a druid unless you can get Dex to damage relatively easily. Your Wis won't be high enough to be a debuffer/crowd control, and your Str won't be enough to go melee. Maybe an agile AoMF. What sort of thing do you want to do with it? It'd make a decent buffer if you went druid or cleric, I suppose.
>>
>>47702598
>cohorts

C A N C E R
>>
>>47701250
So a level 1 NPC mercenary costs 3 sp a day, meaning my level 1 fighter can hire one for a year and a half right? If yes where are the stats for one?
>>
>>47702659
His starting wealth should be enough to get Agile AoMF.

I kinda want the dragon to be the frontliner. My character is a Psychic, so he has all the control spell but lack the power to finish my enemy off.

So I guess, something that utilize DEX?
Urban Barbarian? Gunslinger? Swashbuckler? Unchained Rogue?

Actually... a Pistolero Dragon might be cool...
>>
>>47701250
Is there a way to not need to eat, sleep or breath as a human without becoming undead?
>>
>>47702734
Gunslinger and swashbuckler are terrible. UC rogue can be okay, but not spectacular and yours will be lower level, so I'd avoid it. I'd suggest urban barbarian or Stalker from PoW.
>>
>>47701405
amulet of natural armour, belt of CON and DEX, off the top of my head.

>>
>>47702744
mythic
>>
>>47702744
Ring of sustenance removes the need to eat or drink. Iridescent spindle ioun stone removes the need for air. Lesser restoration can get rid of fatigue, which is the only mechanical penalty of not sleeping. So if you can get lesser restoration whenever you need it through spellcasting, wands, or items, then you're good. If you're a caster, you'll still need to rest, but not necessarily sleep, to recover spells. Depends on class.
>>
>>47702798
Neat, thanks.
>>
Maybe the Sipping Jacket as well, good way for the barbarian to stash a potion of Cure ____
>>
>Female Human Fighter
>Was originally male, was betrayed by the party Wizard via a Gender-swap potion that temporarily reduced strength by -4

>>
>>47703703
Again. That's what one would think, right?

Unfortunately, it's dumber than you could have imagined.

To the current writers at Paizo who've dealt with all this shit, the goal, the very *reason for existence* of all things trans-anything (whether transgender, transfat, transformer, it doesn't matter) is "muh struggols".

It doesn't even come to mind that characters would ever just take the easy way out, because then, where would the problem be?

NAY. If they bought that potion, that woman would now just be a man, THE END. There would be no need for worry, no need to loathe oneself, no horrific discrimination in a land that... uh... just... a few paragraphs ago... was... explaining there's literally no such discrimination at all... what?

You wanna feel all them triggers and offendeds?
Crystal and friends think all any "trans" wants IS to be mocked and thrown rocks at, because otherwise their transition, and thus the only aspect of their life, would have no worth.

The potion is still there. You're just supposed to reject it as I don't fucking know.

Fuck that shit. You can intentionally craft cursed items, and they cost the same as an item of that slot. Belt of Tumbling costs 400gp to make. Intentionally make it a Cursed Belt of Gender Swap instead. It's an instantaneous effect, so taking it off doesn't change you back; you'd have to put a gender swap belt on again to change back. Infinite people can use this belt. For 400gp, you've cured dysphoria for everyone in travel range, forever.

Shelyn or someone should be bankrolling some holy order to take a bucket of belts on a ceremonial procession around Golarion, swapping anyone who asks for it. It should be SUCH a nonissue.

The Belt explicitly transforms you into the "opposite gender". Normally, this means male to female, or vice-versa. However, if you get a 1, it removes all gender from you entirely, making you an androgyne. Once that happens, slap another belt on, and become the opposite of an androgyne; a herm.

>limited to non-magical, masterwork weapons thrown by the hand wearing the glove

A: Why is this not a pair of gloves at the outset? What would be the point of only wearing one, since the hand slot would be taken up anyways? A second glove with a separate set of enhancements would be both conflicting as fuck and nigh-impossible to reasonably censure mid-fight.
B: Why is this so inexpensive compared to other weapon-enhancement-granting items, such as AoMF? The entire point of items like AoMF is to grant weapon enhancement bonuses to normally non-enchantable weapons without breaking the game. Additionally, this item is a clear breach of normal costs, in that it does not limit the level of enhancement nor the number of special abilities that can be applied to the weapons being thrown, all at the same cost of 500gp (easily crafted by 2nd level for 250gp).
C: Why did you not even look at other similar items before considering the price?
D:
>quick draw + gloves lets you draw weapons for, say, AoOs
That's actually kind of neat.

>>
>>47704046

Two throwing weapons is already, what, 600 gold for masterwork + 4k just for +1, then you probably want something like sharding so you don't have to worry about bothering with shit like blinkback or returning, which is going to mean if you're using TWF you have just spend 16600 gold for both weapons. All this is for a style that is vastly inferior to just grabbing a longbow.
>>
>>47704093
You can automatically fail the save, yes, but you can't automatically roll a 1, so you'd have to try on a few belts until you found the one that made you sexless.
>>
>>47704232
>>47704266
For that matter, why is AoMF so terribly priced?

I've always put it at the same as paying for an enhanced weapon thanks to the cost inversion on the SRD, so 2kgp for +1, etc...
>>
>>47704308
Because the only people who use it are Monks, and natural attack druids. Monks are shit, and it's overpriced for what it actually gives.

Druids can just buff themselves.
>>
>>47704281
That's... hm.

Statistically, you'd need 20 belts to achieve that, on average, plus one for the nat-1 moment.

Time to break out my player-saviour d20...
>>
>>47704325
So it's about keeping the monk as low as possible, then?

Mathematically, it's worth one weapon, so doubling that price for no reason just doesn't make sense.

I think I'll maintain my stance in keeping it to the price scale of one magical weapon.
>>
>>47704308
Because paizo logic states that you're getting "two weapons" both hands, maybe both your legs too enhanced with one item. No, that isn't a good reason for the price to be so obscene, especially with so many limitations.

The big kicker is that even though natural attackers make better use of it, it's /still way too expensive for what it does/
>>
>>47704361
>Mathematically, it's worth one weapon

By RAW, no, it isn't. An AoMF, by RAW, costs double the price of a normal enchant, and can only reach +5 max ever.

The houserule you're saying that it costs as much as a normal magic weapon is 100% the way it should be.

He agrees with you that it is overpriced.
>>
>>47704377
Hence my conclusion >>47704361

My logic states that the body is one weapon, especially when you're talking about monks of the mystical-fightan sort.

I want to be able to put AoMF on a punch-guy who's got Hamatulatsu so he can keen + elemental burst his fists.

I've gotten repeated requests to join a pathfinder game from my FLGS, and the DM actually reccomended I pick a type of caster class, weather whole, 2/3rds progression, or even 1/2.
I used to play 3.5 once upon a time, but it's been a while, and I've never actually looked at PF.
I actually really like caster classes, and have a question:
What's a Fun and not insanely complicated class I can join up on his game with?

I'm hopping in at 7th level, since I was busy with moving before now.

AFAIK there's no homebrew allowed, and unless someone has really good reason, he recommends they stick with the core 7 races Also 20 point buy, and the DM reccomended Inquisitor for a class, but I'm interested in /pfg/'s opinion, generals are usually cool.
>>

>weather whole
What?
>>
>>47704046
>>47704257

First of all, thank you very much for your feedback!

A: While I do want to reduce the overall cost of a throwing style, I do not want to make two-weapon throwers ungodly cheap compared to melee TWFing. By having it be individual gloves with an allowance built into the descriptive text, the price may approximate that of melee TWFing.
B: You still have to pay the cost of adding the enhancements onto the gloves, on top of getting a masterwork weapon per attack you want to make in a round... and that's assuming you just slap them both with Returning or Teleporting.
C) I probably should have, yeah.

Let's assume we're a dagger thrower and make a comparison to the Blinkback Belt.

Let's start with a BAB of 5 or under, with Rapid Shot (and TWFing):

Blinkback Belt: 5,000 gp
+1 Flaming Dagger: 8,002
(if TWFing) +1 Frost Dagger: 8,002
Total: 13,002 gp (21,004 gp w/ TWFing)

+1 Flaming Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x2: 604
(if TWFing) +1 Frost Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x1: 302
Total:9,104 gp (17906 gp w/ TWFing) + 302 gp per attack afterward without having to pick up the weapons again

BAB >6 (with Improved TWFing), no item upgrades:
Blinkback Belt: 13,002 gp (21,004 gp w/ TWFing)

+1 Flaming Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x3: 906
(if TWFing) +1 Frost Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x2: 604
Total: 9,406 gp (18,520 gp w/ TWFing) + 302 gp per attack afterward without having to pick up the weapons again

BAB >11 (with Greater TWFing), no item upgrades:
Blinkback Belt: 13,002 gp (21,004 gp w/ TWFing)

+1 Flaming Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x4: 1,208 gp
(if TWFing) +1 Frost Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x3: 906
Total: 9708 gp (19,114 gp w/ TWFing) + 302 gp per attack afterward without having to pick up the weapons again

Comment too long, will continue next post!

>>
>>47704046

Part 2!

BAB > 16 (with Greater TWFing), no item upgrades:
+1 Flaming Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x5: 1,510 gp
(if TWFing) +1 Frost Glove of Throwing: 8,500
Masterwork Dagger x3: 906
Total: 10,010 gp (19,416 gp w/ TWFing) + 302 gp per attack afterward without having to pick up daggers

I... hope this helps? I will have to review the pricing, at the very least... Thanks for your input!

D) Thank you!

whether, sorry.

>>47704598
Oh, and:
From what I know of PF like >>47704474
says, it's concentrated caster superiority, and yet I would be like the only caster in a party of essentially pure martials.
So I'm not really limited at all, because I wouldn't be playing something somebody else already is, no matter what.
>>
>>47704518
I've got two games going on my homebrew campaign setting (plus a still-growing list of feat/item changes....)

So far they seem to be enjoyed by the players and the smaller game of two players is enjoying having mythic BS to keep their asses alive while I pound their faces in with difficult fights interspersed between really easy ones
>>
>>47704664
If you'll be the only caster, you'll likely find yourself having to stretch fairly thin trying to fill as many roles as it's possible for a caster to fill, which is to say, everything that doesn't involve hitting things with a sword.

I would recommend a Wizard, Druid, or Cleric. Nothing too complicated, they can do pretty much whatever you want them to, and their flexibility and obscenely high optimization ceiling allows you to fit pretty much whatever role the party needs at any given time, so long as you have a bit of time to prepare for what's coming.
>>
>>47704622
First
>teleporting
Dunno what that one is, but Returning is a +1 bonus, which at minimum is more expensive than a blinkback belt (8kgp for a +1 returning weapon vs. 5kgp for the belt).
So, efficiency-wise, there's no reason to not get the belt for this interaction. Expending masterwork thrown weapons like ammunition is exceedingly pricey for low-level characters.

Additionally, for characters under 6th level, the entry cost is above their WBL pay grade, and even at 7th level (by which point a TWF/Rapid Shot throwing build would be heavily invested in this setup) this eats a considerable majority of their average wealth, which isn't necessarily going to be all gold.

>>47704659
Overall, the price curve needs to be adjusted (as it's less a "curve" and more a "horizontal line").

I still like the non-action-quick-draw thing. This would go pretty well with the finesse style Marskman, I think. Maybe even volley style?

I'm fairly certain i'd be the only major caster, at least.
The group is fairly PF savvy, so I think a couple might have 1/2 or 1/3rd spell progression.

I also just remembered that two people are joining around the same time, IDK what they'll go, but they'll probably get similar recommendations from the GM. Not the same classes, for sure, but to not go pure physical characters.

Empowered/maximized/etc. to deal more. Most resistances cap out at 15 or 20 before swapping to immunity, so as long as you can put out 4x or 5x that amount you should be fine.

>>
>>47704872
>I heard PF nerfed druids to shit compared to 3.X, that true?

Not at all. They were nerfed in an attempt to keep them from outclassing the Fighter in every conceivable scenario (and there is some debate on whether or not they even succeeded at that), but the Druid is still an extremely solid Tier 1 class.

Do you know anything about the party's current composition at all?

First you take the first multiplier, then add in the other multipliers reduced by one.

So in this case, it becomes: x [3 + (1.5 - 1) + (1.5 -1)] = x [3 + .5 + .5] = x4

You can bump it up to x5 if you are using a brace weapon readied against a charge.

but make it mounted with spirited charge, and martial charge. add iron knuckle from broken blade and add lances to the discipline weapons for 4d6 more (that I believe is multiplied by zenith and everything?)

Adding multipliers works by adding the initial "x1" only once. So a crit lance charge is a x3 for x2 crit + x(2-1) charge. In total that'd be x3+x2+x.5+.5=x6

so 6 x (1d8+16+4d6 from boost +2d6 from choice of 1st level stance)

assuming max rolls: 372, but this might not actually be achievable due to feat constraints and mounted charging and initiating might be weird and not work like that.
>>
>>47705340
Standard action strikes can't be initiated on a charge

Martial Charge (Combat)

You have learned how to initiate a martial strike on the move, delivering them at the end of a charge attack.

Prerequisite(s): Base attack bonus +3, ability to initiate a martial strike.

You want options that can be delivered through other means. That can be no-save effects, touch attacks, hitting CMD, or targeting saves. There are several maneuvers that don't go through attacks at all (Wrath of Time, for instance), and you can deliver save-targeting maneuvers through combat maneuvers that can replace attacks.
>>
>>47705065
Related, How does a Rubato regain maneuvers? Do they just tank their tempo pool for only one per turn? do they burn through performance rounds to do so?

Alright /pfg/, I've got a question for you.

How much would y'all pay per month for a guaranteed weekly game? With the following conditions:

1. A GM who knows the system, and has tons of experience with all subsystems.
2. Access to full Paizo and DSP material, plus whatever other 3PP stuff the GM and group approve.
3. A GM who is guaranteed to not inject horrible fetishes, blatant loledge content, DMPCs, or any other bullshit.
4. Either homebrewed world and plot, or any published AP/Module.
5. Access to Mythic, Gestalt, Templates, Monster Races, or whatever other insane stuff you want, provided the entire party agrees.

6. Run over Roll20, using Voice and Text, possibly video if requested.

I'm looking to make a little extra cash, and GMing is pretty much the only thing I'm marginally competent at. Just curious what people might be willing to pay.

Ay /pfg/

I'm having a discussion with Stack, the guy working on the Alteration Handbook about the Transformation feat chain. You know, the one that lets you just be a person who can turn into an animal 100% independent of casting ability?

Currently discussing the Hybrid Transformation feat, and I've been talking to him about letting the forms which give you extra legs give extra arms instead, for the people who prefer bipedal multi-armed bugpeople as opposed to multilegged, two-armed.

I mean obviously having six arms for two feats would be a bit much, and he's understandably sketchy on that.

So I come to you asking what impact the following would have.

>"If your transformation would grant you additional legs, you may instead gain them as arms, although they are not strong enough to make attacks with or assist in wielding other weapons."

I'm just wondering what if any possible problems it could cause.

I'm designing a character to fill in for a game that has almost no spellcasters. Since they need a healer, I thought I'd go with a pure cleric, but I wanted to try out an idea I've had brewing for a while.

It's a Deep-One Hybrid cleric of Aragon, but with the heretical cleric archetype. He focuses primarily on Dagon's aspects of both weather/storms and on community (sort of turning a blind eye to the cult aspects and the conspiring for the end of human civilization aspects), and is trying to share the faith he grew up with to the outer lands. I want him to be good, or at worst neutral, because his view of Dagon is much akin to old-testament Jesus versus Hamburgers, Football, Guns, and Freedom Jesus that you see sometimes.

Is this super lame? Should I scrap it? It's not really intended to be purely serious, but I don't want to walk in with a character that is mega stupid, just one thanks unique and memorable.
>>
>>47706147
Maybe arms are 1/2 the effectiveness due to the dexterity required for them to hold/use items, so you can have an equal number of arms that can really only be used for slam attacks/bonus to grapple, or half the number of extra arms that are fully functional?
>>
>>47707005
His other concern was excess complexity.
>>
Do you recall the tales of Myth-Weavers being used as a farm for characters to copy and reuse as NPCs, /pfg/?

I just had that fate befall me moments ago. The GM explicitly informed me that I was not good enough for the final cut of players. I was passed up in favor of the community's veterans who were already in at least eight other games each, and whose characters had minimal ties to the campaign hook, a phenomenon another has observed in this thread >>47705931.

However, the GM mentioned to me that they would like to use my character as a minor NPC in their game, and that I would receive an opportunity to roleplay the character in a single scene to help with exposition. I was singled out for this offer.

I am not sure how to feel about this. I was not good enough to be accepted as a player, yet my character was just interesting enough for the GM to have around as a minor NPC... played by me, for a single scene. Is this supposed to be simultaneous praise and condescension? What am I to do with this booby prize?
>>
>>47706147
Large amounts of limbs, weapons or natural attacks kind of hurt the system, it's not designed around it at all. Honestly I'd rather see something like attacking appendages in excess of 3 still remaining limited to the TWF line's maximum number of attacks, or at least against a one target.
>>
>>47707054
Tell him to fuck off, really.
That offer's kind of insulting.

Wash your hands of him and don't look back.
>>
>>47707031
It's not all that complex, and I was basing my suggestion loosely on the Extra Arms customization from the aegis class, which has three full steps before you get functional arms, but is limited entirely to two extra limbs.
>>
>>47707073
That's why the limbs can't make attacks or even contribute to holding weapons. I'm just pondering what uses besides that could potentially cause issues.

Things like using shields, holding rods, reloading gunsHah
>>

>>
I've never played an rpg board game before. Is Pathfinder a good start?
>>
>>47707054

Yes, he's being condescending and insulting. It's a cheap way to get NPCs. Lock the sheet, tell him hes not worthy your time and effort, you have another game for the character.

Watch him change his tune almost immediately.
>>
>>47707256
Only if you find a good group willing to teach you.

Otherwise try something simpler.

Nice bait though.
>>
>>47707256
PProbably not. the rules aren't nearly as bloated as some suggest, but Pathfinder is still a large, complex game with sometimes nonsensical rules that lead to a lot of arguments and many times confusion. Your best bet is likely DnD 4e or 5e (they're both much simpler in comparison) or Fantasy Craft.

Fair note - Pathfinder is very popular, and you'll almost guaranteed find someone willing to help you learn it if you want to despite what I just said, so it can be a good time. It can be a lot of fun if you have a good group to play with.

also, this is a Tabletop RPG, but it's not a board game. There's a bit of a big difference here.

I have turned down the GM's offer and have somehow managed to do so amicably. The GM had apologized; they expressed that they were impressed enough by the effort I placed into my character that they thought it would be a shame to waste it.

>you have another game for the character

Unfortunately, my character was *very strongly* tied to the specific setting of the game and the campaign premise therein. Out of all of the ~30 or so applications, mine was the only one that was strongly grounded in the actual setting and the campaign premise. There were a few applications with a token "And by the way, they happen to be seeking X plot hook" near the end, but even then, those were refused in favor of the veteran players whose characters had zero ties to the setting or the campaign hooks.

It would be virtually impossible to use the character in another game without a precise repeat of the same setting and campaign hook.

The conclusion reached in the thread in >>47705931 seems to be correct about Myth-Weavers being a place where character application quality is irrelevant, and all that matters is being a veteran who is already in 8+ games.
>>
>>47707398

To see just how absurd Myth-Weavers is when it comes to choosing only veterans as players, in the game I received this offer in:

- One player GMs 2 games and plays in 9
- Another player plays in 11 games
- Another player GMs 2 games and plays in 7
- Another player plays in 9 games
- The final player GMs 3 games and plays in 11 games

Myth-Weavers appears to be so insular a website that the only players who stand a chance of landing in a game are the players who are *already* in many games...

Should the website simply be avoided for everything but its sheets?

Changes things a lot actually. For one thing a lot of people can't do the accents or voices they think they can.

Then there's those who are playing characters of the opposite sex.

And there's also a lot more tangenting and the like.

So there's actually a lot to be said for paying purely by text, because it turns out that very often, it's not 10x as fast, it's sometimes not even 1x as fast, and the disbelief might be a lot thinner.
>>
>>47705690
It's only faster if the group stays on topic. It can be very distracting and much harder to get into character if other players are chattering on about OOC stuff. It only works if the group can accept a GM telling them to shut up and focus on the game.

I'll tell you this, you're not alone. And it gets no better if you're "accepted"
In the past year I'd had 3 games where I was in, GM interacts with us, has us write in a bit of fluff (like about the villages, etc our characters come from) and worldbuilding, at least a few paragraphs for stories... and then simply never shows up for session 1, and never answers anything again. But you look at the GM's activity, and a few days later he's already started a new campaign somewhere, and/or characters have appeared in the giant NPC database that look suspiciously WORD FOR WORD EXACTLY like your PC...
>>
>>47708763

If any of my applicants were in that many games, I would turn them down without even looking at their sheets. They don't need more games, they don't have any reason to care about one game out of fourteen, they will probably miss games constantly to play in other games, they are far more likely to drop the game, and I can't imagine someone putting that much effort into a character when they already have 14 other characters in other games.

You probably dodged a bullet.

To the anons here that like ToB/PoW stuff:

- Who handled the Initiator Classes better? ToB or PoW?
- Who handled the Discipline Schools better? ToB or PoW?
- Favorite Initiator Class?
- Favorite Discipline?
>>
>>47708818
I know, just collaborating the story.
>>
>>47708936
That's tough.
From a Ranged character's point of view, it's PoW to the first two questions. This is practically by default, so it'll be hard to argue against, because ToB had never heard of ranged characters.

My favorite initiator class is a tossup between the Mystic and Hawkguard Warder... But I usually end up using an Aegis.

My favorite discipline is Silver Crane, with Riven Hourglass and E.Flux closely behind it. I'm not gonna pretend Silver Crane's the best designed, though, It just happens to REALLY fit in and fill in holes with what I like to play.
>>
>>47707054
>>47707398
>>47707477

Here is the grand punchline to the story. This game was supposed to be run under an obscure, premade adventure.

The last player to be accepted had submitted a generic backstory with virtually no connections to the setting and the campaign hook. They submitted this during the last few hours before applications were closed.

The player also admitted that they were GMing *the exact same adventure* elsewhere on Myth-Weavers, and asked to join this one anyway.

They were still accepted into the game, because they were a veteran of the website. What madness is this?
>>
>>47709004

I will be totally honest here: My table don't use the Initiator Classes of the Path of War, because there is so many houserules that makes the classes too damn strong... BUT we are allowed to pick up the Martial Training feats, the Initiator Archetypes and the Initiator PrCs.

So, I can only tell about the 3 ToB classes, and my favorite is the Swordsage. My favorite PrC is Bladecaster because I freaking LOVE gishes.

I think that the ToB Disciplines are better designed mechanic wise: We don't have stupid shit like Primal Fury/Broken Blade at low levels, but ToB lacks utility based disciplines (Veiled Moon is my favorite) and ranged ones, so I call it a tie.

My favorite Discipline is Veiled Moon, and in a close second, Diamond Mind.
>>
>>47708936
-Path of War, far more variety, and support for ranged builds, same for discipline schools
-Close tie between Warlord and Warder, really like the variety that those two offer
-Black Seraph, it offers a powerful combination of pure offense and debuffing capability.
>>
>>47708910
Well obviously anon
>>
>>47708936
It's hard to say. Warder and Harbinger are excellent, and so are the Initiating Archetypes(wish we got shit for the other Hybrid classes). Stalker is decent, every other Initiator can die in a fucking fire. ToB was okay, bar the Crusader.
>Disciplines

Quick question about Path of War stuff:

As a test drive for the system, my table is allowing feats from PoW, including Martial Training, but not the direct classes themselves until we see how this goes.

I would like to try Martial Training into Silver Crane. My question is, which class is the most fun to do that with? Gut instinct says paladin, but it is gonna be pretty hard to get any feats in if I go that route.

>>
>>47709321
Honestly felt like tow had the better manuevers but I saw that years ago when it was still in play test. I also liked the crusador as a 1 dip just so I can tote around the style that gives anyone a -4 to attack people who aren't you. A very usefull dip for a protective character that can afford it.
>>
Wait, let me get this straight:
If you keep making a DC15 Fort save, you can go on without sleeping forever, so long as you don't need to regain some kind of resource?
I mean, that's what it looks like. In fact, even if you fuck up the save every time, it seems like it just leaves you exhausted and that's about it - meaning you can go without sleep forever even if you don't make the save, you'll just be exhausted.
Right?
>>
Is the content from Tome of Battle easy to port to PF via homebrew or would it need heinous reworking?
I've not read it ever, and I wouldn't even know where to get a download of it, but I'd be interested in doing a homebrew for my game if it's not too much of a bother. It seems like people really like it.
>>
>>47710311
Characters who do not get a full night's sleep may suffer the effects of fatigue. If a PC does not get at least 6 hours of sleep, she must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be fatigued and take a –1 penalty on all other checks and saving throws against sleep effects. A second night without sleep requires another DC 15 Fortitude save. A failed save results in the character becoming exhausted and the penalties increasing to –2. A third failed save on the next night increases the penalties to –3.

I assume that this counts as a sleep effect.
>>
>>47710380
So, if you keep making the save, you can live normally without sleeping so long as you're alive.
And even if you don't make the save, you can live, exhausted, without ever sleeping so long as you're alive.

Out of curiousity, what do you use?
I've been thinking of switching over to mote. I used maptool in the past but it had a tendency to cause huge problems when I made maps with VBL and fog of war.

Some characters get kidnapped against their will without a save and subjected to the kidnapper's torture-fetish-game, before being shoved down to hell - even if they're found 'not strong enough' to be sent there in which case they're just not given any gear to survive with.
>>
>>47711195
If he's using a 2h using Extra Arms III, that's a two-hander being two-handed.

So, weird interaction question:

Some races like forgeborn don't need to sleep.

Some class abilities, like shape mind blade or shape astral suit, require 8 hours that are "not the same 8 hours used for rest, even if the character does not need to sleep".

What does this mean? A forgeborn doesn't need to sleep, and unless they've expended power points on something don't need to recover anything. So they are forced to spend eight daylight hours shifting their options around (blade enhancements or suit customizations or whatever) during travel time, even though they gain no benefit from sleeping?
>>
>>47711300
That has literally nothing to do with what I was asking about though. For context, what the 'oh my god rape' comment was in response to:
>Was originally male, was betrayed by the party Wizard via a Gender-swap potion that temporarily reduced strength by -4
>>
>>47711347
They spend 8 hours reconfiguring the same way anyone else would: as that 8 hours is NOT (as stated) the 8 hours sleep one uses to recover PPs/Spells

I'd give matpools 140 a try. Currently we use maptools b87 so we are behind the curve, but it's what the dm likes. Vision and fog are cool, but are beyond the scope of the game, and usually simply handled by the dm in secret.

the main advantages of maptools for a player are things I already went over. Mote its kind of cool, but they are not only notoriously late and uncommunicative with the people who paid for the program, but are planning on going the roll20 paid route anyway, which makes it essentially worthless as a platform as long as they insist on selling the program. theyre going to keep a free version, but the problem with that free version is that its going to be neglected. Now as a person who uses image editing software, I can understand paying for a program like mote if you want to make campaigns using its rich tools. but for most players? they'll never need any of those features, they are basically paying for a window to the dm, so I'd stick with maptools long term. Mote is interesting now, theres no reason currently afaik not to use it. but I wouldn't have high hopes for it to be a new platform.

The people in charge seem to be treating it like an adventure path more than a platform, which is why I think its going to fall flat on its ass. roll20 may be shit, but the devs certainly treated it like a platform. an awful one, but one all the same.

Maptools has a lot of warts desu, but It's faster than roll20, more robust, and has better graphical presentation. About the only thing you can say against it is the lack of sound support. MT even supports animation if you can handle the frame by frame approach.
>>
>>47711335
watch out guys, we have a rollplayer tough guy. far be it from me to want to put effort into the games I play becuase I find them fun and roll20 stifling.
>>
>>47711393
I understand that.

I'm asking why it is specified that even creatures who do not need to sleep can't use the 8 hours while the party sleeps to reconfigure. If that's even what's being said.

It's not parsing to me, for whatever reason, but I'm just sitting in this logic void about that wording.
>>
>>47711478
You can, but you wouldn't recover any power points or HP that way.
>>
>>47711455
Man Those are some huge ass assumptions, considering tokens are a very small part of a campaign, and really mean nothing at the end of the day when the important part is you actually being creative and descriptive enough to be able to describe your character without using Generic elf/anime picture/gruff fighter picture #354

But then again I'm not the other guy your arguing with, so oh well

>implying I give a shit if you are two differen't people
what exactly are you smoking that this is relevant to your post? no one gives a shit

>man huge ass assumptions
You sure are making a huge ass assumption dumbfuck.

Do you know what minis are? Do you show up to a game and scoff at anyone loudly and angrily that they aren't a treu roleplayer like you because they spent more time and effort than using a particular D6 as their player token?

Do you call those people generic warhams too lazy to play the game? Is your general experience with people who put effort into player art other than description with words people who show up and paint those minis in the middle of game to the exclusion of roleplay? What exactly makes you tick that you honestly believe something so popular that it supports an industry of people who buy and modify minis to be an affront to the spirit of the game?

Or are you one of those faggots who are so tremendously conceited you think taking work someone else made and painting it colors is somehow different than making an electronic token pretty?

Either way you are retarded and are out of touch with gaming as a whole. Not only are you either a hypocrite or just out of touch with part of what makes people enjoy the entire experience of this game, but you don't seem to understand that effort can be spent outside of game to facilitate the experience once the game actually begins. I know people who show up in costume to play, and they receive little but praise. It doesn't detract from the experience. So we are left with two ideas of you, one where you are a piss-ant who feels threatened by weeb shit to the point of insanity, or that you simply hate fun in general.

Either way, kindly fuck off. No one cares how hard core you are about roleplay with words only.

>and then some herp derps
let me explain the power of money to you, now, I am not that faggot, but lets be not retarded about this. You are, in this scenario, along with your chums who want to play, offering money to run a game using rules most dms probably wouldn't touch like gestalt.

Some faggot joins the scene and wants core only and makes a fuss about gestalt.

Do you A. talk to the dm about having this player removed by vote, since you all would prefer to play something and he is trying to thwart that, or B, assume that the dm who is tryng to make money from this venture, would give up whatever amount you all promised in favor of that one guy?
>>
>>47711706
Then you're a retard and a faggot, because if you can't find a game any way other than paying into it, you're 100% guranteed to be That Guy.

Honestly if your desperate enough to play for a pathfinder campaign if might be time to consider switching systems or take a break. Not joking or shitposting, I honestly think if you need to pay to play something that most people can do for free with a good imagination and some friends, you might want to reconsider things.
