To the anon asking about fonts in the last thread, this is an excellent study in what not to do.
>>
>>47397356
Ya the descriptive stuff for the items and everything after that is fine, just all the switching and half the fonts for the races are painful.

Since when has starting a sentence with a preposition been a problem? Ending a sentence with a preposition is what English teachers bitch about.

I'll end you with a presposition, asshole.

I'm super depressed that I've been super sick the weekend and could barley get any work done on my OC. I had planned to have it finished by tomorrow. :(

Tomorrow's a real long day, anon! It's not like you 'job' is more important than working on your CYOA!

>>
>>47398049
>>47397819
One important lesson for you two to learn: don't bother with deadlines. Just get it done when you get it done.

That way the hype doesn't kill interest if no product arrives.
>>
>>47398280
You're right, but I'm usually pretty accurate with my estimates. Oh well.
>>
WHEN'S CHINPO-SAMAS KEK FESTIVAL CYOA???
>>
>>47398280

There's really no reason to try to generate interest for a CYOA anyway, unless you want some motivation to keep working on it.

Fuck, alright. Let's do this.

Serum.

>Augments
Strength
Speed
Endurance
Durability
Immortality
Stimpack
Burst
Ranged Combat
Senses
Healing

>Unstable Augments
Devourer
Precognition
Landmines

>Employer
Gubmint

>Perks
Weapon (Something ranged)
Loyal
Mentor

Not rolling with the government out of any fondness, but they seem to be the least hellbent on murderraping everything in arm's reach. The weaker augments in general suck, so devourer is going to help me play catch up. Eating the fallen is nasty and all, but whatever it takes I guess.

Basic game plan is to kite, kite, kite. Prepare battlefields beforehand, maintain distance, plant mines, bait less patient augments into bad positions and use the weapon to finish them off. Hopefully my mentor is cool enough of a dude to help me through the first couple of fights before I've built up enough strength and durability with devourer to go toe to toe, and the benefits of loyal on all of the government's forces seems insanely good.

If I had to guess, I would say that I'm completely fucked.

Nah man. I just want a non-nonsensical high fantasy adventure at the beach cyoa.

Seige giant sand castles using volleyballs. Use limbo sticks as barricades. Kill the army of crabs that come on to the beach and giant squids. Etc. Eat watermelon slices during a time of rest, don't get captured by the enemy and buried in the sand.

I'll use a collar. My preference would be nothing, to work purely from my own power, but it's just too limiting. The others are the same as far as I care, so I might as well use the strongest.

The most important power is Classic. It's a classic for a reason.

Stockholm Syndrome because I don't want my slaves to be unhappy. At least, not after that initial period of playing with her, before the stockholm syndrome kicks in.

Love potion for the same reason, and also because I kind of want that for myself.

Triggers because changing someone to act and live her life differently is way hotter than just being obeyed.

Hypnosis, purely because of the "new slaves" thing.

Orgasm is kind of tempting because of the dual functionality and the notion of using it on people who aren't already slaves, but ultimately I doubt it would be all that useful.
Instead, Words, because apparently there are super heroines I have to hide from.

I'm taking all the slaves I qualify for. Lacking Maid means that I miss out on Kirrie, which is a shame, but I don't want my girls wearing uniforms. I do get Lilly, Jill, Cecily. I'll try to hook Lilly and Jill up with jobs, to support their upkeep and keep them busy during the day, but Lilly is mostly to play with and Jill is to be a classic waifu. Cecily is more of a daughteru age but I can have fun with punishing her too.

Suggestions: Something that makes it so that your slaves can never lie to you, and something to make them get along well with each other. Hypnosis and Classic should stack together to let you give subconscious commands.

Question for the people making cyoas: how do you plan the presentation of the cyoa and what program do you use?
>>
Holy shit I finally finished the first 20 neutral companions for the Hero Academy cyoa. I was hoping to finish the whole thing by tomorrow but god damn it I spent all of Friday night in the emergency room because my idiot friend some how got a fucking concussion mowing his lawn and spent all of today and yesterday sick as shit. But through the powers of modern medicine I manged to type a lot of some what coherent sentences. And god damn it I just wanted to vent I'll shut up and go back to my writers cave.

Only thing left is the 20 school specific companions, cross school events (think missions), complications, and school clubs. Most of which has already been done and only needs to be written.

As moot as my witness I will finish this by the end of the month!
>>
>>47398804
Which one? We got 3; Pokemon Personified, Pokemon Trainer, and the Pokemon were actually cute girls the entire time.
>>
>>47398863
Pretty sure the one I want is the last one.
>>
>>47398833
I use photoshop and tend to copy layouts I like, I usually start by outlining stuff with rectangles and then work from there.

Also those double dubs
>>
>>47398816
I have a farmgirl, a tomboyish cop, a shy girl, and a slut written out. Gonna also have a girl who likes cooking, a clutz, maybe a mechanic, and probably some more.
>>
>>47398937
>farmgirl
Please, please be the writefag from that one thread talking about creamy thighs.
>>
>>47398937
if you want instant success add a yandere and the option to become a girl. That's like a formula for a successful cyoa here.
>>
>>47398937
And coming up with them is the easy part. It's the writing them up that's hard. And to make them all about the same length. The Kaifus are the only waifus I've ever written, and I feel like I didn't do a great job with them.

I think he finished his finals or something.
>>
>>47399202
Well, good times are coming.
>>
>>47399031
I don't know if it's for everyone, but I liked that one with the knights where each companion had a quest and among your companions you would pick one of their quests that would upgrade that companion and have big impacts on the world. (I think there was a fantasy version and a sci-fi version).

Also, unrelated, there was another knights quest with art by shwig (basically, it was some art he made compiled into one image). The nice art was probably the most alluring part, but I also liked how unique each companion felt from each other.

tl;dr Having some kind of quest attached to a companion is a nice way to expand their character (it doesn't even have to be a long one, as long as it encapsulates their goals), and , within your own CYOA, each companion should feel different and special.

I just feel like it's pretty CYOA-unrelated at this point. Making out like I want to censor you or something is pretty extreme.

Depends how much you eat. You stop soon enough, you're a cute catgirl. Overdo it and you get full furry, though. I wanted a large supply because you can't count on it to deliver quickly. Too often you just get slimmer, faster, something like that, not any actual progress in transformation.

OK, fine, add to my lunch order a black egg and a big pot of scholar's tea. The first to clear up any excess fur I might gain (while hopefully retaining the flexibility perk) and the second to clear up the inevitable catgirl ditziness.

>>
>>47404249
>sculptor is only as good as surgery
This may or may not actually be the case. Here's what the author said regarding the differences between Circe's shapeshifting and Sculptor of Man:
>>47382957
>I guess the difference would be Shapeshifting being limited to you but allowing non-human forms, while Sculptor is basically a license to body-horror people.

The author later sais this when asked why Sculptor is likened to surgery:
>>47383375
>Gotta establish a frame of reference for alteration complexity somehow, and it was the best I had.

Considering all this, it seems like Sculptor is simply limited to human forms (or forms recognizable as having once been human, depending on how far the "body-horror" thing goes), so functional gender change should be something you could do with it.

Here's to hoping the update (that I hope the author is making) will clear up all these confusions.

I'm here, just filling out medical forms and working on both the text version of the cyoa and the next set of Ranks, which has everyone I want chosen, and now I just need to format everyone in. Nyla is still basically a must-have because of her utility skills. Sarah is only useful for a distraction, but causes problems, Leia is useful if you plan on taking a delicate approach but can't do anything if you are that big of a noise-maker. Nyla, however, can give tips and get you into anywhere through direct rip and tear methods on hacking. If you make yourself a murder machine and get her so that you can open anything or take any information that you would otherwise be too dumb to understand, you've got a highly secure build. She's basically your Otacon option with no real substitutes.

Ideally you'd want to have 3 companion slots with 4 categories.

>Team Leader
You could build for this role by buying yourself the expertise, or have one take care of this for you. Either in the field or at command This is where Timothy and Leia come in, just a slight rework on the description to give them the same expertise but alter how in-touch they are with you would be good.
>Support Team
This is where you have your secondary options. Like the dog, support squad, Scrap, Quickshot, and Juggernaut.
>Intel
This should be a group of Otacon options, you really only have Nyla for this. It would be nice for a few others here.
>Field Agent
This is the where you get your murder machines and all that. The high power agents that get your mission done, even if you've got to take care of a few skirting details. Viper, Ghost, Punching Bah, and Mockingbird all fit this category.

All in all, you've almost got this at an even playing field. If you get two more Leads and three more Intel teams you'd be pretty solid. Having an extra in support is fine since there are two non-unique characters. This would really allow for us to build into other roles.

>using Mawile as a tank
Shame, CYOA maker. Shame on you. Mawile's Def is decent, sure, but her SpD and HP are not, and her Atk is enough that using her as a tank would be a waste. And then there's mega evolution, which basically turns her into a rampaging destruction machine - at max investment, she has 310 base Atk! Mawile's purpose is Atk, and Atk alone.

Sorry, got a little carried away. I've spent too much time on /vp/. Also, Technician Meowth with Normal Gem Fake Out and Covet is a force to be reckoned with in Little Cup - or, if you want to trade your one powerful hit for reliability, just use Life Orb Return. Gem Fake Out into U-Turn? That's a reliable amount of damage to lead off a fight, especially if you're switching into a defensive 'mon like Ampharos, Rough Skin Garchomp, or Milotic.

Artifact: Sentinel's Bracers
Marriage: N/A

You'd have a hard time finding someone with a body as durable as mine or magic more potent. With some weapons training there are few combat situations in which I won't be able to handle my myself.

I don't really have the most confidence in my ability to handle the diplomatic missions, but I should be at the least able to handle the priests, college, and harpies. At the very end of the day though I can't be bothered with the whole king thing. I'll give the Sentinel's Bracers back and call for bygones to be bygones. At worst, I have to fight and kill the king and some of my companions. At best, everything is left alone and I've gained contacts from all across the land.

The marriages are a big part of my reluctance. Anyone you don't pick could very easily take offense to such a thing and not all of them are as beneficial as they first appear. The best choice you could pick is probably Leomaris or Marilla. You gain no enemy from doing so and you'd get many resources and advantages over everyone else. Kymic or Willonia and their demands of no more cutting down trees or mining would literally cause a civil war since that is the bread and butter of some houses. Who is to even say that they can keep up with the demands for their special wood? There is just a ton of little things that would rock the boat and I don't want to be the one responsible for it. I'm going home. Maybe to make a wife of Andrea.

I agree on the fact Nyla is very useful, but you're kind of overestimating her a bit: she's very useful whenever hacking is involved, but her tips while useful are not that good.

In most situations that do not involve hacking, Leia is a strictly better choice; offers more information, more influence and is generally better at saving your ass.

I like your idea of companion categories though, I think I'll do that when I have ideas for some new companions.

Here, have some new original content. Just finished version v1.0 right now.

Are you a pirate or a ninja ?
>>
>>47407178
I'd like a CYOA about paper powers.
>>
>>47407190
That ninja is going to cut through them pirates. Fact of the matter, it's the inverse number law. The less of something, the more badass it is.
>>

For every ship there is only one captain.

It's mostly weapons and utility skills.
>>
>>47407221
I don't know what that is.
I was hoping for something with shitstorm potential. I've always wanted to be responsible for one, but I don't want to be boring and add cuckholding as a secret to a waifu
>>
>>47407190
Eagle Eye Edward's description lists him as Steve and Ojo the Mountain is describes him as "big dump".
>>
>>47407459
Make a CYOA that forces you to be a girl. That always pisses a few babies off without actually reducing the quality of your CYOA.
>>
>>47407492
Thanks for the catch, anything else?
>>
>>47407459
>I don't know what that is.
I think the other anon wanted a CYOA that gave you a choice of powers, with all the powers being somehow paper-related.

Ever seen Read or Die? Stuff like being able to shape paper into constructs, animate paper, shaper/harden it into blades, summon paper out of nowhere, enhance yourself with paper, if you want to get more esoteric being able to inscribe spells onto paper for magic effects, absorb knowledge written on paper, stuff like that.

This is definitely one of the best pieces of OC I've seen in a long time; the style is very clean and pleasing, I'd put you on par with SDA on that alone.

Only complaint I have is you're a touch sparing on points. Having to make hard choices on limited points is good, but there's a line between engaging and frustrating and I'm just a bit on the latter side.

Making the drawbacks more rewarding would be a good compromise, I think, and possibly adding a few that are a bit less compromising (mild case of OCD/Tourette's, myriad allergies/irritants from oversensitive immune system, etc) for a pittance (+5 or less, depending). The drawbacks you have are great in that they actually cost you something, but I'm of the opinion that the reward is a touch lacking considering how brutal they can be.

As it is, there's nothing stopping a ninja from taking Water Jutsu alongisde Time Stop or Invisibility. Without further clarification, the fact that Water Jutsu allows to hold one's breath for 10 minutes and doesn't have a sign on it means either of those would become ridiculously broken.

>Wizards vs. Astronauts ? OK I see if i can do that.
I'd be cool with any similar idea. Vampires versus werewolves? Dwarfs versus elves?

Some lend themselves better to the original scheme than others. 2 examples:

Vampire:
>Main Choice: "Tradition" (Wallachian, Kievan, Carpathian, Roma, just make them thinly veiled Vampire: The Masquerade references)
>Drawback: Curses (Sunlight, Holy Objects, Running Water, Hospitality)
>Advantages: Powers (include a few weapons, but mostly upgrades for the castle, dark magic and stuff like hypnotism, shapeshifting, necromancy, etc.)
>Advantages2: Servants (Hunchbacks, bloodhounds, brides, cossacks, gypsies, etc.)

Robot
>Main Choice: Frame (Stealth, Juggernaut, Android, Flyer)
>Drawbacks: Glitches (Overheating, Poorly Insulated, Constant Maintenance, Fragile)
Advantages: Systems (weapons, internal weapons, heat seeking missiles, gadgets, etc.)
Advantages2: Programs (training, electronic warfare, walking encyclopedia, mental geometry, etc.)
>>

I am still trying to set the right amount of points, once i see enough builds i will change some stuff and make unpopular stuff cheaper.

I don't like giving out too many points because I feel like people wouldn't have to do meaningful choices and just grab whatever they like... so between handing out too many and too few, i always end up towards the latter

Lol what? I mean, it's fine, it's good. But you can't be serious about this level of praise; I think it detracts from the laurels the author has actually earned if you heap ridiculous hyperbole on them.
>>
>>47409861
Yes, but Dark Souls has taught him to love pain and misery.
How do you beat a man who loves it? Even if you managed to win the battle and make him your slave, he'd still whittle down your sanity and win the war.
There's no stopping the SDAman. It's best to just assume the position and get it over with.

>>
>>47409935
I can tell you've never dealt with a human being in a civilized way in your life, much like a fair few other posters here.
It might make someone unlikeable if they have a short attention span and might ditch you, but nowhere does it say that she'll always ditch you without doing any work (thus being worthless) or that she ditches you because she actively resents you (thus hating you).
It even tells you how to keep her attention - keep her stimulated. Given, a better way to phrase it might be "she's obsessed with results, and has a habit of losing attention when not challenged or when made to sit around waiting without doing anything. If you call on her without needing her immediately, she might even leave for wherever she calls home."
In the end, though, it's incredible how many people in this thread seemingly expect their women to at the very least be better than they've ever been or ever have a hope of being, and no matter their skills or wonderful personality, a little bit of individualism or unpredictability instantly turns them into a hate-mongering bitch who'll actively attempt to torture you and drag you through the mud, not to mention actively cuck you (even when she's just a companion and not a love interest).
>>
>>47410175
Yes, OC.

Dude seriously.
>>
>>47410190
>If you sleep 12 hours per day on average.
Sleeping an average of 8 hours per day makes your 100% waking time 16 hours. 8 is 50% of 16. Ergo, you're getting an additional 50% of waking time, bringing you to a total of 150% of your original waking time.

You'd be surprised at how much everyone in the world fucks up. No one is perfect, not even spies - and especially when you're dealing with one-of-a-kind people who you have no obvious way of forcing to work properly for you, you have to take what you can get.
In-universe, she's a unique phenomenon who's insanely skilled and almost guarantees success on her own, and even counting out the times she bails on you, her success rate is still likely on the high end. The agency can't very well force her to work with them or threaten her with anything, whether it's a pay cut or imprisonment - she's both nearly impossible to restrain and too valuable to waste.
In reality, people fuck up a lot more often than you'd expect, and people with worse flaws than that have become spies. Look at some Cold War-era anecdotes and spy stories, and you'll see that while spies are extremely well-trained and hypercompetent, they can slip up too once in a while, and many of them have had personalities that ended up hamstringing them along the way.
You're coming off as exactly the kind of poster I was referring to before - holding unrealistically high expectations of real people that they cannot fulfill, perhaps due to the fact that you've never really had the opportunity to learn how they tick.
>>
>>47410515
The wrong picture is what it is. Anon was talking about yoikh mit knedlach, but this yoikh mit KREPLACH. Kreplach are Jewish dumplings. Knedlach are little balls of soft dough.

Yoikh is a kind of chicken consomme, often spiced. Jews eat it with lots of different stuff in it, generally some combination of vegetables and pastries.
>>
>>47410207
First off, I think this is some weird projection shit going on. Nyla is not your waifu, they're an AI/operator you never actually see in person.
Second off, they hack stuff and give you suggestions in a "very annoying and condescending way".
Now take that, and include the possibility that they'll just drop communications in the middle of a job and leave you hanging, because you didn't babysit them enough.

You have an annoying, condescending robot voice in your head, telling you what to do in the most obnoxious way possible, who is also liable to fuck off because ADHD.
That's not a companion, that sounds more like a drawback. Misogyny aside, "unlikeable, hateful and worthless bitch" sounds like an accurate description.
>>
>>47410529
People make mistakes. People do not intentionally fucking abandon their partner during a mission and keep their job. Not when working at McDonalds, not when being a goddamn cyber agent doing shit that's actually important. That is not acceptable.

>You have to take what you can get
No, you fucking hire someone who will actually do their job. It doesn't matter if she herself is unique, her role and abilities are not.

You're also forgetting that you're responding to a criticism of a drawback he's contemplating forcing on her in the next version, not the current version.
>>
>>47410587
>Misogyny aside
You might be agreeing with me, but fuck off for this. It's not muh soggy knees to call someone who is being a bitch, a bitch. Insulting a woman for being a fuckup isn't sexist.

>>47410557
I know it is, but both of the soup and the thought of dumplings are making me pretty fucking hungry right now.
>>
>>47410515
Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine is founded on three pillars:

1. You're Jewish, so make it kosher.
2. You're poor, so use what you've got.
3. You've got eight children, so Use EVERYTHING you've got.

Their traditional food is made by grabbing a chicken and breaking it down into every tiny last little inedible bit, finding some way of making them remotely edible, then squeezing every last drop of flavor out of it with hot water so it'll stay longer.

The "Jews are rich" meme is admittedly literally one of the oldest ones in history, but that doesn't change the fact the majority of European Jews were shit poor. And since they also kept kosher, they couldn't get the usual varieties of poor man's meat, like pork.

That means chicken and fish are the "tasty things", and cabbage and potatoes are "the things that go with everything."

You wash it down with super strong wine so you'd momentarily forget how shitty being a Jew is (this is normally the point where cossacks burn down your house and rape your wife).

>muh misogyny

And yet both of you ignore the fact that she's a nearly omnicompetent AI with unparalleled hacking abilities, with a base success rate of nearly ninety percent.
Normal people don't abandon their mates in the middle of a job and keep their job. People who are almost supernaturally competent do. Like reality, unless otherwise stated.
It occasionally baffles me exactly how you people manage to read so deeply and aggressively into the emotions and intentions of a fictional woman - and let's just brush off the projection accusation by mentioning that this argument would never, ever have happened if she was a man.

Cyber-agent CYOA creator here, sharing my thoughts on why I'm thinking of adding an additional drawback to Nyla.

My first idea about this CYOA's Companions was that they all have a drawback.

They're not soulless things you use to reach your goals, they're actual people with personalities, quirks and features that make them unique.

In the case of Nyla, my first idea was that she feels beneath the task she is assigned and thinks you're incompetent. You know, typical stuck-up genius line of thought.

However, reading through your builds I realized everyone chose her simply because of how much stuff she brings to the table without any real drawback: she's just mildly annoying but gets the job done anyways.

I think it wouldn't break her character too much if I highlighted this side of her a bit more; maybe making her just straight up randomly disappear is a bit too drastic, but i'll almost surely implement something along those lines in the next version.

Thanks for your posting, anyways. I couldn't improve it without feedback.
I didn't think my little nyla would've sparked this much hate though

So it may not be to everyone's taste, but the setup to the anime Konosuba is basically just a CYOA writ large.

Dude dies, gets to choose whether to start over as a new life on earth, go to heaven, or go to a game-like world with his memories and body and he gets to choose one thing to bring with him if he does.

>Anime
I know, and I don't even know if the show is any good, but I thought it was kinda neat.

Konosuba is based on a manga written almost surely by a /tg/ regular. /tg/ veterans will know what I mean by the time the first episode is done.
>>
>>47410800
Two thoughts.

One, people around here have a habit of interpreting things they don't like in the WORST POSSIBLE WAY so that they have more to bitch about.

Two, you could keep the drawback basically the same by changing it to something like, "Due to her abilities being in high demand among several other agents she may not always have the time to prioritize your mission in particular." Basically like she's a secret agent switchboard operator, flicking back and forth between a dozen different missions at once.

Well, my thought was that this would only highlight her incredible skill but I just realized people would make it about cheating and cuckoldry for some fucking reason so maybe that's not the best option.
>>
>>47410859
Now you're just being retarded.
Being abandoned for actual reasons is part of the job, being abandoned because your partner is a whiny woman/manbaby is another

It's not like she will randomly abandon you without reason.

What i wanted to do is portraying her as a moody, young genius girl that's in this only for fun and to show off: if things get boring, her performance's quality drops.

You're not obliged to pick her. There's a lot of other companions to choose from; I've just recently added another one who does almost the same things except for the hacking part and is a lot more reliable (she's a woman too, but she's much older and therefore more emotionally balanced).

>>47410878

Sorry, but that is too unlike reality for me to accept.

Like any other human endeavour, an important spy mission is a matter of risk/reward. Not just for that specific mission, but in the larger tableau of objectives as a whole.

Besides, keeping things interesting shouldn't be all that hard. If you're going on an operator grind, don't pull her into that particular mission. I mean, unless you have to. How hard is this?

>>
>>47411163

>>47411042
If you can take the risk/keep her entertained, you get an extremely useful companion.

If you can't, you can get a different, more reliable one.

The point is that when you choose companions you gotta work with what you have. People are not perfect tools that will act the way you expect all the time, and Nyla is particularly childish.

>>47411148
There's more to feedback than just the opinions of 2 anons, especially when other anons encourage the opposite.

All of the builds have Nyla. All of them.
Now either all other companions suck, or Nyla has something the others don't.

This is a clear sign something has to be changed. The way it will be changed, however, is completely up to discussion.

My original idea was making her randomly quit. I realized it was too drastic, and now I'm trying to find something inbetween a perfect little helper and a moody childish baby.
>>
>>47411224
>you get an extremely useful companion.
No you do not, as she will randomly abandon you in your mission. It's not acceptable. This is spying. You can't accept a failure rate like this, especially not when you're gambling with your own life. You cannot accept an employee that'll abandon your agents for no good reason and waste your assets.

>People are not perfect tools.
No they're not. But as you've been told REPEATEDLY, someone who abandons their job, does not keep their job. Especially not when their job is actually fucking important.

>All of the builds have Nyla
That's because she's a young girl, you fucking dunce. People ALWAYS pick young girls. You cannot stop them unless you make her repugnant, or worthless. If you make her worthless, it breaks the believability of your CYOA and also makes her fucking shit from a mechanical balance standpoint. You need to accept that people here are HORNY NERDS.
>>
>>47411188
What if, post-nerf, our AI still has the same success rate? How would you explain it then? Could it be that the nerfing provides an explanation for the failure rate?
>>
>>47411188
The proposed nerf is to her chances of skedaddling, not to her win rate while staying, which is what the post was referring to.

>>47411207
>isn't worth... even if
If you want to win, you use the pieces at hand that land you the most wins. You act like the all-stars of various fields don't get perks and allowances that no-names don't get.

I mean, if you guys can't keep it interesting, or can't tolerate her, don't choose her. You're literally complaining that there's an option in a CYOA that you don't like. From what I can tell your only complaint is that it messes with your internal "this is what spying is like" aesthetic to merely have her as an option.

Never underestimate a surveillance grid.

I plan on sneaking in, grabbing the hostage, and sneaking out with no fatalities. Even if Nyla can't get microscopic uplink cables put on the mosquitos and hack everything, we should do well just darting whoever gets in the way.

When I inevitably get spotted because of any number of unforseen circumstances, I'll just scream really really loudly (memo to corporation: include earplugs for hostage) and blow stuff up with my really fun toys.

First priority for additional upgrades: trading the grenades for Phase Dive. You do not want to fight an invisible teleporter.

I think nyla might be popular because she is not a wingman but a support. In a way she is closer to another upgrade similar to the AI helper than a companion and given a choice of more personal power vs. aid most people will pick power.

My suggestion would be to add a second upgrade to AI helper allowing full sentience and a custom personality (which both result in added functionality) at the cost of less control

>>47411682
it's not a bad idea, but if I did that I would also have to be overly specific about what personalities are available and how each one of them would work, which would kinda defeat the purpose of not creating unique companions.

Make her a weedy male nerd and see how many people pick her.
>>
>>47411807
If you're completely reliant on any one of the companions in this CYOA then you haven't read their descriptions closely enough. They all have problems. You have problems if you want to get enough points. The only thing you can have any true confidence in is your own abilities and strengths.

It's a fucking dystopic cyberpunkish adventure man. Nongovernmental organizations are building inhuman monstrosities to kill people they just don't like. Someone being good but unreliable is about as good as you're going to get.
>>
>>47411807
Once she is in a mission, she won't quit.
However, if for whatever reason she doesn't find the mission appealing, she won't join you at all.

>Make her a weedy male nerd and see how many people pick her.

What does the Yellow mask reference mean in a CYOA as a disad? ('Convergance' in the Lewd Magic CYOA.)

>>
>>47411862
You don't know how this shit works, do you? When you have a partner in this kind of work, you both NEED to absolutely trust and rely on each other. That's how you're trained.

Then you can't take those missions and won't get money. Great. Or you have to risk YOUR life to satisfy someone who isn't at risk.

>>
>>47412056
The CYOA doesn't give you a choice, anon. It's either Hastur or death. I agree Yog-Sothoth is a better choice in the end, especially since he's been shown to be willing to be friendly and do you a favor.
>>
>>47411976
This is not real life serious business spy agency shit, anon. You and she didn't spend a year in training together to build a bond and camaraderie to help you work together like a close team. You're all a corporation of asshole half robots, plucked off the street with your body fucked up for the chance to earn some money and more modifications. This isn't the first CYOA to have a conceit that doesn't entirely make sense within the realm of "realistic" assumptions of how you think people would act.

Seriously, play Deus Ex. The first one.

Also, several posts have explained why people were picking Nyla but for the slow kids (not you) it's because she was the best option. Having that back-row support is awesome since you can build yourself to reasonably handle most straight up combat and stealth. Frankly I'm still of the opinion that the author didn't need to nerf her at all, just add other support companions with different specializations.

I don't want the cute girl. I don't give a shit. Your problem was you wanted less people to pick her, I offered you the best solution.
>>
>>47412123
>The only persistent quality exhibited by individuals on the spectrum is an inability to temper literal meanings with implicit considerations, like social cues.
>>
>>47412156
Good job anon, you called someone autistic. Do you want a cookie?
>>
>>47412166
He's being pretty autistic, to be fair.
>>
>>47412166
Good job anon, you used a 10-year old meme. Are you autistic?
>>
>>47412178
Not anymore than the rest of you.

>>47412191
You don't get to whine about memes when you think calls of autism are clever insults.
>>
>>47412178
And in fairness, certain kinds of autism might be considered advantageous here.

>>47412117
> There are people here who haven't played the original.
Man that was a cool game.
>>
>>47412191
>10-year old meme
Anon pls, that expression is older than you are.
>>
I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE CYOAS IN THIS THREAD

IF SOMEONE COULD DIRECT ME TO THE CYOAS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT
>>
>>47411773
Just a suggestion. Unreliable does not mean she has to quit. Maybe she is a badass most of the time but sometimes despite her best efforts she is utterly useless. This is true to real hacking anyway, maybe they can do some badass cyber stuff but sometimes there are obstacles they simply can't help with.
>>
>>47412123
It was a rhetorical question, not directed specifically to you.

>Your problem was you wanted less people to pick her
Nope. I wanted readers to take meaningful choices, not just get this cause "well, it's strictly better than the rest!".

>>47412117
>just add other support companions with different specializations.
I will do that sometime in the future, but Nyla needs a small nerf regardless.
>>
>>47412250
Appreciation is cheap.

Allcaps is annoying.
>>
>>47412198
Less of an insult and more of a concern, really.

>>47412205
It was a cool game, but why ruin's anon's hissy fit? Just let them be mad about their incorrect assumptions. "It's just a game" works both ways, if they want to stew in their own filth after being warned, let them.
>>
>>47412288
Autism drowning out the posting of actual CYOAs is even worse senpai. This thread has 500 replies and at most 5 CYOAs.
>>
>>47412313
This thread is also autosaged at page 10, and there's a new thread.
>>
>>47412313
Oh, you're one of those people. Spamming CYOAs that we've all already seen is pointless. Better to have discussion.
>>
>>47412326
Even in the earlier portions of the thread, it was this bad. The last thread was this bad. The next thread will be just as bad.

>>47412335
>Oh, you're one of those people.

Jesus, you're condescending enough to make an elf jealous. And you know damn well that the autistic shitflinging in this thread is NOT discussion.
>>
>>47412313
I don't see a problem with that, honestly. I never liked those people who thought that threads should just be 100% cyoas posted and no builds or discussion. Want a pure content dump? That's what archives are for. If you want to hang out here with the rest of us, you might want to get used to being around people.
>>
>>47412370
Discussion is cool, I get that. But 1%? Jesus christ.
>>
>>47412362
Nah, fuck off. You're one of the people who think posting random CYOAs for the hundredth time is some kind of generous boon that you're bestowing on the thread. Go away, we don't need you here.
>>
>>47412398
>Go away, we don't need you here.

Fucking make me faggot.
>>
>>47412386
There were 16 CYOAs posted in this thread and it autosages, and stops mattering, after what, 300 posts? 350? That's about the turning point in them going to shit anyway.

But hey, making up shit to win your imagined argument is par for the course for this thread.
>>
>>47412412
Feel free to stay and whine about something that you can't change then. It'll just be more shit on the pile.
>>
>>47412386
What does it matter that it's 1% (which it actually isn't)? Why is this somehow wrong in your diseased mind?
>>
>>47412386
A cyoa that can sustain more discussion is not a bad thing. If you want more of what you like, post it; though other people may find CYOAs they have seen before worthless and annoying, just like you might find certain discussions worthless and annoying.

>>47412412
They can't, that's why they used their words and told you instead. Why you would want to hang out in a place full of things and people you seem to detest is anyone's guess.
>>
>>47412443
>1% and ~3%
>different enough to accuse someone of making up shit
Someone's just sore they got rekt earlier in the thread.
