Call of the Moriat Sub-Edition
On the previous thread we discovered that the Path to Heaven novel is now out, one Anon talked about the troubles of having to run two Spartans, the creators of the Mastodon was revealed to be Perturabo and Dorn and the idea of a Mastodon gun platform was discussed, someone asked about the popularity of 30k and someone asked about Legion popularity, some stupid stuff happened, and more in the old bread >>46844151

Some Anon came up with a really nice idea how a lodge could have changed some and how they could have participated in calth.

He talked about the ill-favoured destroyers playing a role and that they would add a big amount of black to their colour scheme and replace laurel wraiths with thorn ones.

Even wrote a little text on how the Word bearers bring Freedom.

Yup. They based their tactic on Aeonid Thiel's thesis on Marine vs Marine engagements. They ally themselves with traitor Ordo reductor and engage a Shattered Legion who thought they were loyal, so it ended in reverse Calth.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee
>>46860965
>It's not like it needs the barrel, since rocket boosters and shit
In order to fix the gyrojet's terrible point blank characteristics, bolter ammo has propellant casing like a regular bullet, and at mid-longish range, the rocket booster helps counter air resistance.
Not only that, but a longer barrer makes for higher muzzle velocity and accuracy, as it can spin inside the barrel.
But yeah, rocket boosters and shit.
There's some sort of thing that illustrators can learn about, I don't remember how's that called but it consists about drawing stuff that kinda makes sense from an engineering viewpoint. It's one of the things that made Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed not suck like most other weaboo shows.

Only two magazines. The thing behind the lower magazine that looks like one is actually a hand guard.
>>
>>46861164
The booster charge is merely to get the bolt out of the gun with enough force to make it deadly at point blank ranges. The rocket can generate its own spin, though I don't even know how long the rifling has to be in order to give the projectile "enough spin".

Room for the bolt to recoil? If you look at old sub-machine guns, you'll see that there's a lot of room in them for the bolt to travel. Not to forget that there's a spike running perpendicular to the chainsword blade (seen near the end of the blade) that's on both sides of the gun and actually blocks the bolter barrel, so the first time you pull the trigger you're shooting part of your gun off.

The crusades army list book. Palatine Blades can at least explicitly take power spears/lances and the book points to the main rulebook for rules about power lances but seems to suggest that lances can't be taken as regular power weapons. If they can I may give my honour guard power spears just for aesthetics.

I actually run my Luna Wolves as an early crusade army. The core of the army is a praetor and his command squad with volkite chargers and serpentas, some basic tactical squads (newer units equipped with bolters), and some tactical support squads with volkite chargers and calivers. Throw in some vehicles and yeah, pretty much my list.

Also when did terminator armour come about? Was it with the marines from the start or was it a later development?

You know how Lorgar is supposedly the primarch that most resembles the Emperor? Well, it used to be when people said that they weren't talking about his face but his long, luxuriant mane of dark hair.

But then one day following a compliance he'd prosecuted in conjunction with the World Eaters he was giving one of his really long speeches and eventually Angron's patience gave out and he told him to wrap it the fuck up. Without thinking Lorgar turned to him and said 'don't get short with me.'

He was immediately tackled (by the leg) and scalped by Gorefather's screaming blades. The space marines killed everyone present at the address to keep word of what had happened from filtering out, but even though his wounds healed not a single hair ever grew from Lorgar's scalp again, and he had to play it off like he'd decided to shave it as a sign of humility.

We don't know (and never dared ask) what Angron ever did with his bloody prize.

I don't think you do but I didn't read the rules in depth for SL. Pic related is the original Tartaros terminators, made for 40k, before 30k and combi-bolters for loyalists existed. They come with "storm bolters".

They look exactly like 30k Tartaros/Tigrus combi-bolters.
>>
>>46864903
Your marine has got an artificer-crafted combi-bolter. In later years the information from this design will be used in the creation of the stormbolter, but for the most part is the same. The different internals were designed by another artificer, yours just did the outside look
>>
>>46864903
It wont fit on cataphractii armour or tartaros, but theres no reason not to use it with your indominitus
>>
>>46864930
Not entirely. Combi-bolter is two bolters firing like any other twin-linked weapon. Storm bolters are purpose built weapons that fire the barrels consecutively, giving them a high rate of fire (which is why they get assault instead of TL rapid fire).

It's not like there's only one HH book, you know? It's 2 am here and I already went through book 3, 4 and 6 looking for the Headhunter's combibolter's. Already reverse googled it by image and by name. I thought you could use your memory and at least say "book 5" or something like that, but I guess you're too much of a dick who thinks each and every question is a request for spoonfeeding.

The Emperor was the most powerful psyker in history, he was therefore a master of biomancy and could alter his form to whatever he desired. I'm guessing that was the only way he could have sex with non-raging-whores.
>>
>>46866605
I dreamed about Kid Scoria. That can mean anything except the well-being of mankind.
>>
>>46867114
That's how it happened most likely. Emps is a psyker so probably made himself smaller so he wouldn't make her too uncomfortable.
>>
>>46867156
It means you're probably the ancestor of Scoria.
>>
>>46867176
No, they'll just loosen her up with biomancy.
>>
>>46866918
Yeah, they're hip-firing at the front. They should rotate their torsos so that they can use the pauldrons as a makeshift shield as you point out, but meh, I took that picture as rule of cool anyway.

I'd assume termie gear, as it's referred to as termie armour in the entry isn't it?

I wouldn't say he's a nobody. Remember that his Forge World is the same one that makes Hell Blades and Hell Talons. We don't know his final fate just yet but it's reasonable to think he moved Xana II to the Eye. Also I was hoping it wasn't a pick me up game and full game.
>>
>>46867689
Yep, I'm guessing that's a decision done on purpose
>>
>>46867764
I doubt we'll hear from him again. Xana's only really known for making chaos goodies in 40k, and now we have its backstory I'm guessing they'll leave it there, or maybe just explain how they end up in the eye. Would like to be wrong though.
>>
>>46867885
I suspect if he is still alive in the modern 40k he's probably in the upper echelons of the Dark Mechanicus now if they have any formal structure of command. He'll probably be a special character for a Dark AdMech codex if that gets made.

Terminator armour only came into mass production near the tail end of the Great Crusade, with Cataphractii being the first pattern in general usage (as it was the prototype).

If you want a *strictly* early Crusade army, then you'll have to make due with just Breachers.
>>
>>46863889
You can turn off a power field.
>>
>>46869526
My army idea was mostly a sort of early/mid crusade army when the officers still all had volkite weapons as did a good number of the troops, but some of the grunts start to be armed with bolters. That being said if you wanted to make an early crusade army rite of war what would you have it be?

Benefits
>May take special weapon squads armed with volkite calivers as your mandatory troop choice
>Any model armed with a bolter or bolt pistol must replace it with a volkite charger and volkite serpenta for 1 point each per model

Bad Shit
>May not take terminators
>May not take a primarch
>May not take legion special units

I feel like it would need more advantages but it would make the force fairly lethal with mass strength 5 fire but they lose access to primarchs, legion special units, and primarchs which is a massive hit.
>>
>>46869267
No, Iron Warriors and Death Guard are fairly good even with a lack of real WS 5 infantry. Ordo Reductor is actually a solid army although you are forced to pay at least 270 points on one of the purposeless mandatory troop choice in the game.
>>
>>46869317
>What does this say about /hhg/?

Volkite chargers worth it on terminators? I'm looking to kit my praetor and his terminator bodyguard, and been looking at chargers, but just don't know if they're good.
>>
>>46869897
Not really, you are spending a ton for strength 5 shooting on a primarily assault oriented unit. On regular terminators with autocannon or something I would say maybe but not on a command squad.
>>
>>46869897
They're better than regular combi-bolters, but yeah, I wouldn't say they're worth their cost, and they compete with combi-weapons like plasma and melta anyway.

What's a good source of Lightning Claws, Dark Furies aside? Need a fair few of them, but prefer the ones with sharp fingers like claws instead of the fork stuck on the back. The Dark Fury ones are perfect, but it seems like a waste to buy them and then toss the rest of the set in a bits box.

I could always carve up some Cataphractii ones as a last resort.
