I'm going to look very fanboyish, but really this game is everything I ever wanted in a Battlefleet vidya. It's like a dream come true, the devs are based, as much if not more into it than us, what more can we ask for?

>>
>>46803682
Basically, some no name german website got ahold of a fairly long footage of the game (apparently Focus gave it to them, but considering they were the onlynones to have it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a leak.) And so they commented it, shitly, pausing every 5 seconds to talk about the game. They were mildly unimpressed, saying that stuff like weapons recoil was missing and the likes, which made the game feel a bit lame.

Now the problem is, one of the devs that is sometimes active on a french forum commented on that. He was infuriated, saying this was never discussed with them, and that they took litteraly the worst parts of the game to comment, as apparently that was the least finished part right now, with WIP NPCs and the likes. What's more, in that footage, crucial stuff was deactivated according to him, like the fucking recoil and SFX, which obviously make the game good thanks to details but are proeminent in their absence.
He started to shittalk the editor before editing his comments for obvious reasons, but still said that it was a fucking joke to see the game that badly shown, with the worst part of the game, no trailer, in german, no subs, and with deactivated features.

Methinks Focus is making sure not to fuck up this time.

>>46808780
Dark Eldar are slightly less maneuverable than Eldar Corsairs, though still almost as fast in a straight line. In return, they get slightly better armour (on par with Chaos and Craftworld Eldar), modular ship loadouts, and better boarding. Their main unique advantages are:
-The Mimic Engine, which basically allows them to disguise themselves as friendly ships that can't be fired upon until they're in range.
-The Impaler, which is a giant oversized assault boat. It has shorter range than the smaller ones, but can inflict much more severe critical damage if it does connect.
-Improved regular assault boats that are less likely to be hit by turrets and can choose to take enemy crew as slaves instead of inflicting damage, which gives bonus victory points to the Dark Eldar.
>>
>>46799781
Like in Sword of the stars, where you could annihilate populations of planets with orbital bombardment and genocide entire races from the map.

Pegi 12.

Because no cursing or visible blood (outside of few loading screens and defeat screens).
>>
>>46808765
They're basically the Imperium's Orks. They've about the same overall speed and maneuverability as the IN ships, but with the best possible armour all around. They also gain a big boost to boarding, have improved assault boats, and particularly powerful short-ranged bombardment cannons. In return, all of their weaponry tends to be fairly short-ranged, and they've pretty much no lances available at all.

So basically, they play kind of similar to Orks. Head right at the enemy and bring them to battle immediately, exchanging broadsides and boardings at the close range. Their main weakness are enemies that can keep away and have a significant number of lances, since past their amazing armour they still only have the same hitpoints as equivalent imperial ships do.

So in the current vidja meta, they'll probably be pretty strong against IN and Orks, but probably struggle against Chaos and Eldar.
>>
>>46808586
Oh come on, don't put words in my mouth.

Look at the NL trilogy, Helsreach, Emperor's Gift, Talon of Horus, Betrayer and First Heretic.

There's always that archetype of the woman close to the space marine, seeing his good side with some "sexual" (for all it can be with SM) between the two.

Inquisitor Veil on the other hand, in the Ciaphas Cain serie, manages to not fall into thay category while being "there" at least as the narrator, in every book.

True. It's called the Impaler: an assualt boat the size of a small ship, that penetrates your vessel and disgorges thousands of rape-elves aboard her. If you don't show a hole to put it in, they'll make one.

Technically, all the ships can do it.
The questions are:
- What will it do to their landing location and the weather patterns on that continent?
- Will they ever lift off again?

In the RT RPG there's a ship background called "Planet-bound for millennia". It basically means that you had to haul the ship back to space before being able to use it, and it can be attached to everything up to grand cruisers.

there is, the crone might be either serving another chaos lord or, as many have said in the past, the nightbringer.
>>
>>46812119

Looks like Spire's face.

They're basically pulling a Macbeth here where the crone deliberately sets Abbadon up to fail, knowing that he would be foiled in the end.

You mean the Deceiver.

And she serves no one other than Abaddon. The rest of the Black Legion hate her guts and have tried to kill her many times for her trollish and mocking behavior.

Another thing they dropped the ball on. She is called the "Weeping Girl". That thing doesn't sound like a girl to me.
>>
>>46812177
>where the crone deliberately sets Abbadon up to fail, knowing that he would be foiled in the end.

Except he succeeded. His plan was to acquire the Blackstone Fortresses. He got two and blew up the others in Imperial hands.

If the shadow behind indicates anything, then the hand that orchestrated the Gothic War got exactly what it wanted.
>>
>>46812226
behind her*
>>
>>46812226
Didn't he want to grab all of the fortresses though? Only getting out with two and then denying the others to the Imperials who weren't going to use them anyway doesn't seem like a big win.
>>
>>46812147
The crone is deceiver, he just wants Abaddon to blow up the fortresses so Necrons could have it easier when they start purging life again.
At least in my opinion.

I suspect they may deviate from the official Gothic war storyline to allow the player to be a Gary Stu that destroys the Terminus Est, the Planet Killer, stops the Ork incursion etc etc.
>>
>>46812258
Still better than nothing.

The Blackstone fortresses also act as massive Imperial navy bases in the sector.

He got two which he awakened to full power and destroyed the rest. In the end of the day, Abaddon walks way with two superweapons while the Imperium gets denied 6 naval bases. He returns to the Eye to consolidate his power while the Imperium has to deal with a sector in shambles.

Yeah, which completely goes against GW lore which has the Terminus Est taking an active role in the 13rd black crusade.

Hell, I heard hints that if you're good enough in the singleplayer campaign you can stop Abaddon from getting the two artefacts, preventing him from capturing a single fortress.

I think it's intended that he does get both artefacts and some of the blackstone fortresses (the narrative trailer shows clips of the things being used to blow up a planet), just not so early into the campaign as what happens if you completely cock everything up.

Well, considering that most bfg ships aren't fully automated/are full of daemons/use xenos tech, I don't think the corvettes should be able to control them. However, you could resolve it like a regular hit-and-run attack, the clamps severing power cables and the virus crashing computers.

I heard that the Necrons are a potential candidate for the sixth fleet. Is that true?

Do Fighters/Bombers/etc count as skills for the purposes of skill cooldown reduction gained via slaves/crewmen/etc?

>picking the Devastation
>not picking any carrier-variant Hellbringer

That's where you fuked up pretty muh. The Hellbringer carrier can sling around as many bombers or asault boats as the Devastation and all you lose is a couple broadside lances.

Chaos cruisers are where ou get your macrobatteries and brawling ability from. Slaughter and Carnage is where it's at, the Devastation and Murder are just plain bad. For carriers, Chaos wants Hellbringer Mk 1s, Styx and/or the Despoiler. For long-range lancefests, you want the Acheron, Despoiler and to some degree Hellbringer Mk 2s. Devastation, Murder, Hades and the Desolator are just plain bad choices and Mk 2 Hellbringers only really work in bigger games where they can hide behind beefier ships.
>>
>>46815590
>implying the crit lances were ever really useful for IN

50% faster torps are ridiculously great for skillshots, and even better now when you cna basically set everything on the enemy ship on fire with a good spread.

>Viper knockoff

Widowmakers were literally an upgrade for the Cobra-class in the original BFG rulebook, long before the Viper was ever a thing.

Some guys at Bay12 are fooling around with making Chapter Master 2: Electric Boogaloo last time I checked, but I don't know what has changed. I was talking about my experience with Crons in the game. Hated them so much that I savescumed so I wouldn't have a tomb world in my sector. After that Cron worlds were so rare that the only greatest threats to all life in my sectors were Black Crusades followed by the true threat. Orks.

>>
>>46818056
Literally retarded. It's like you are hung up on a single lucky streak while your actual crit chances even with the upgrade remain just flat-out inferior to the chance to score crits with locked-on macro broadsides. (And 9k range is hardly "halway across the map, dipshit.) Even on the Gothic, the crit upgrade was a niche choice of dubious value that only worked half of the time. Fast-burn torps are a better use of an upgrade slot even on the Gothic and flat-out superior on every other torp-armed ship.

Git gud, kiddie.

Playing the campaign on hard and just got to chapter two. I've managed to only lose two missions so far, a random cruiser clash against the orks and the first eldar mission.

I just got ripped off against the eldar since my two boarding actions just RNGed to not stop his warp jump and there wasn't enough time to ram, but cruiser clash against orks is fucking brutal.

I'm trying to set aside some ships just to deal with CC against orks. I got the cruiser with launch bays since they hate bombers and was thinking about getting a gothic with fast torps since they suck at shooting down ordinance.

Anything else that shits on greenskins?

Yep, was mentioned in Oldcron codex. Was mentioned in the 13th Black Crusade campaign book.

We have known this since forever. What's surprising is that they kept it considering the whole Newcron thing.

All those carefully orchestrated plans - thwarted by a retcon.
>>
>>46819034
Apparently not.

The Deceiver stuff re-appear in the Newcron fluff. Apparently it was a work of a single shard or a group of them.

Remember the mention of a golden skinned shiny giant that leads Abaddon to his sword? It was mentioned again in the new Black Legion supp.

Remember when the Deceiver fought Cypher in the old fluff? It was mentioned again the recent Cypher dataslate.

Upside to all of this is :

NECRONS CONFIRMED....maybe
>>
>>46819237

>>
>>46819259
They already confirmed a second DLC fleet, free for early buyers. And yes, it will probably be Rapecons.
>>
>>46819367
I know, I mostly wanted to point out that even if the 6th fleet isn't the Crons, they will probably still come at some point since adding new fleets is an easy way for them to make some additional cash
>>
>>46819237
I wonder how they'd balance necrons.

I mean, you have the super-tech faction with super-tech tech and crazily potent everything.

You can:
Make them super points intensive. If you play them, you *will* be outnumbered, and the match up will be modestly fair.
Make them pretty much in line with everyone else. Not particularly true to fluff, but they're still roughly competitive and not broken beyond belief inherently (Eldar)
Make them hobbled by some particular quirk of the rules. (Necrons) They are superior to anything they will face but each other, but when it comes down to the victory point assessment, they're worth much more than anything they will face. For other races, any victory is Pyrrhic, but it's still a victory.

Well, they don't seem to have VP in vidya... so...
>>
>>46819444
>I wonder how they'd balance necrons.

Phase out
>>
>>46819444
Probably a mix of your first two suggestions - their points will be high, and they'll tune some of the quirkier rules a bit to make them more balanced, like weapons not ignoring holofields and the like.
>>
>>46813177
Would any of you blame me if I open up the task manager and am ready to quit once things look like they went to shit. Unless it's far enough in I'm able to spam light cruisers so you can board a hundred times there isn't much way to win that.

>>
>>46819961
Yeah, some of the limits are ridiculous especially when it seems that the AI randomizes what ships it will bring to the match. I had the story escort where the AI had a battlecruiser at the second checkpoint. I lost that one so I savescummed and tried again and now he had only light cruisers and escorts. Still was annoying to do with one cruiser and one lightcruiser. I also noticed that if you have an AI buddy on breakthrough mission, he wont focus on the turrets, but instead beelines for the exit zone. Thus he wont shoot at anything but enemy will shoot the shit out of his rear
