It really captures the spirit of a 90's toy commercial perfectly.

I lost it at the blocks part.

its what i see in my head whenever anybody mentions AoS

A deff dread will beat a daemon prince in combat.

Is a Palanquin worth it on a Herald of Nurgle? He'll probably be in a unit of Plaguebearers anyway...
>>
>>46165333
My store has that for $175

I was looking into it. It certainly has a bunch of gaunts I will need.

How are gargoyles?

A player at my LGS talked me out of buying the start collecting box because of them.
>>
>>46165427
They're winged termagants. They're okay and can be nifty just to help apply pressure in the early turns. The Warriors are the real shame in the Start Collecting box.
>>
>>46165415
Not really but I guess it could work if you're loading him up with gifts like a GoTN or that new doom bell thingy.
>>
>>46165400
i really doubt that

7 attacks hitting on 5s and wounding on 2s, having to go through invulns and probably feel no pain isnt great. And this is assumung it charges and also has 4 claws
>>
>>46165288
>yet

Nigger please. 8th edition will be out before those IA's are updated.
>>
>>46165560
At strength 10 it will instant death a prince while the prince glances it on 6s.
>>
>>46165507
The quality of warriors depends almost entirely on how much S8+ you come up against.

If they were able to get gaunts to catch bullets for them (2+ look out sir style) they'd be pretty choice.
>>
>>46165127

You really have to wonder why these things even sell.

I need help with a list. I face mech guard, space Marines, nids and Eldar and get close games with the old first of this list, made some modifications.
1500 points orks
>Non force org
barebones mek
>Hq
Pain boy
Warboss - powerklaw eavy Armour shoota bosspole cybork body
>Elite
12 tankbustas with 2 bomb squigs in trukk with rr
>Troops
19 shoota Boyz, 1 big shoota and nob bs pk x2
10 Gretchen
>fast attack
Dakkajet, flyboss, 3 super shoota
20 stormboyz, nob bs pk
>heavy support
Battlewagon with rr, one big shoota
Battlewagon with rr, two rokkit launchers
10 lootas

I play more defensive and maelstrom usually
Mek is just there to follow Battlewagon and die, 2 hqs and shoota Boyz in Battlewagon. Not sure what to do with stormboyz, probably hunt some infantry down and use jet packs to easily block los
>>
>>46165507
I think I will go for the Swarm Box. I could get it on Saturday and would be a huge bump for my army.

It took me over a month to paint what I already have though =/
>>
>>46165643
nurgle ones are.
>>
>>46165733

Only if they're on a bike.
>>
>>46165704
That's more painting than a lot of people do. Good job.
>>
>>46165684
Your list would be much better if you dropped the Stormboys and took another 12 tasnkbustas.

Drop the PK on the Shoota Boy Nob.

Drop Cybork if he is in the same unit as the Painboy.

What is the second Battle Wagon doing? Want to assume outlet for Lootas to sit in?
>>
>>46165643
T5, according to the 6E codex. Huh. Guess I need to be using my Medusa Siege Guns a bit more.
>>
>>46165643
A CSM DP with mark of nurgle is T6.
But Daemons have better DP's, and there are other ways to buff them.
>>
>>46165733
No they aren't.
>>46165745
They can't even take bikes.
>>
>>46165745
DP on a bike huh? You must play a whole lot of 40k, your mastery of the rules is obvious. Link blog plz.
>>
>>46165772

>Daemon Princes Can't take bikes
>Laughing Doomrider
>>
>>46165767
They cannot take Mark of Nurgle either.
>>
>>46165767
CSM DP can't take a Mark of Nurgle.

Prior to the Wulfen book, I think CSM DP's had a use as summoner's with a spell familiar, but the new artifacts and power are just too good to pass up.
>>
>>46165772
>he doesnt have a bike dp
>>
>>46165756
There's 2 squads of shoot Boyz, it says x2
And I really want to try stormboyz out. only anti infantry I have boyz and lootas and the jet. Only anti amour I have Is melee powerklaws tankbustas the jet and lootas. It's pretty balanced
>>
Should I spend some of my next paycheck on finishing my 40k army so I will never buy 40k until next edition (10 stormboyz, an hq and some Gretchen and warbuggies)
Or
Spend it on my new small fantasy army I'm starting, (80 clanrats, a box of stormvermin, maybe a warp lighting cannon or doomwheel)
So space orks vs Skaven...
>>
>>46165751
Thanks!
They aren't anything great, if I had a proper camera I would post pictures but I wanted my first match to be nice and painted.
The shop has really cool Tyranid scenery (spike things and stuff that stick out)

I am painting them like Hive Fleet Colossus (bone and red)
>>
>>46165867
Buy whatever models you prefer. And talk with some people to tone lists down, so can have fun as well
>>
>>46165837
Ah missed that.

You're putting yourself in a situation where you have to choose. Are your Dakka Jets / Lootas anti infantry or soft vehicle counter? Either way you're forced to pick between killing one unit or killing another. This isn't a balanced list in this regard because it isn't dedicated to taking down what it needs to take down.

Leave your Boys, Dakka Jets, Lootas for anti-infantry, and then focus on getting more anti-tank / anti-mc, of which Tankbustas are both.

Putting Warbosses in Tankbustas allows the Warboss to get some Tankhunter goodness for some Str 10 hits on vehicles.

You're lacking pie plates, and you're lacking maneuverability outside of the Stormboys, which lets face it are a one trick pony.

You need multiple dedicated anti tank / anti mc.

Drop the PK's on the Nobs in the Shoota boys, 50 points saved right there. Drop the grots, you're already min squad tax and need those points spent elsewhere, similary, you have a lot of anti-infantry so outright dropping one of those 20 strong boy squads, because you've got the stormboys doing that role, and using those points + the dropped PK's to buy more tankbustas would go much further.
>>
>>46165569
Well then should I just keep using 6th edition rules for them in 7th?
>>
>>46165803
yeah they can
>>
>>46165127
As a Grey Knight player, this is side-splitting.
(Is two Dreadknights at 1500 pts cheesy?) I try to stick to one, but then it gets taken out too fast.
>>
My local GW gets super pissy if you say 7th edition. The manager keeps claiming GW have done away with editions now.
>>
>>46165939
If I drop a 20 boy squad i also drop a battlewagon which frees up a heavy support slot.
Anything to do with that? Get 15 tankbustas in a battlewagon?
>>
>>46166148
It's not cheesy, seeing as the only other viable non-vehicle units in our codex are Terminators and Librarians.
>>
>>46166148

Honestly I don't give a shit if you take three from a balance standpoint. They're not -that- hard to win against.

Where I get a bit offended is looking at the fucking things.
>>
>>46166164
everytime he gets pissy at you, just ask him how AoS is selling for him...

that should calm him down :^)
>>
>>46166189

>Spamming a high powered model isn't cheese if the rest of the book is a little weak
>>
>>46166075
Where does the codex state that? You can make him into a demon of nurgle, which is something different entirely, but no marks for demon princes
>>
>>46166219
What else are you going to fill the Heavy Support slot with? Purgators? A lonely Land Raider?
>>
Saw another new player post last thread so throwing out mine as well. I have gotten three games in thus far and have had good results. I lost once against Necrons but for the msot part Wave Serpents are great. They are one of my favorite models.

Autarch (75pts)
>Banshee mask, Shuriken pistol

Wraithblades (425pts)
>10x Ghost Axe and Forceshield
Wave Serpent
>Holo-fields, 2x Twin-linked shuriken cannons

10x Dire Avenger (255pts)
Wave Serpent
>Holo-fields, 2x Twin-linked shuriken cannons

9x Dire Avenger (242pts)
Wave Serpent
>Holo-fields, 2x Twin-linked shuriken cannons

997/1000

Is there anything really wrong with how I am running? I have been thinking of running some jetbikes or something fast to be a bit quicker.
Necron Wraiths are just too strong for even my wraith blades it seems.

I don't think I am ready to get a knight but perhaps a Wraith Lord would be a good thing.
On the other hand Fire Prisms would be fun.

Idk how you guys can tolerate being in a GW. The one here is run by the sleaziest guy.. and his playerbase is about a dozen or so strong - almost entirely composed of that guys.

Thank god there are two booming flgs in town. If I had to play in a GW I'd just quit.

Man finding my LGS was the awakening for me to the hobby. I actually ended up reporting the GW employee I started with because he was such a dick.

Now the models are cheaper, the paint selection is wider and the players are better.

My only complaint is some of the younger guys who come still haven't worked out that acting out isn't funny yet, but if they don't have people who will tolerate them while calling them out on it they'll never learn.

>>
>>46166622
Running around the store, stealing one another's seats, hiding each others' shit, playfighting basically. Socially awkward kids acting up because they're socially awkward kids.

It's pretty inevitable, but sometimes they're in danger of wrestling one another into gaming tables or the shelves, or just giving a bad image to the parents who are leaving their kids in the store to paint with the manager because it's a nice crafty hobby that isn't starting at a screen.

I can deal with the kid who always yells 'WAAAAAAAAAAGH!' at the top of his pubescent lungs when he declares a charge because he's just being enthusiastic.

Jesus Christ I'm too young to feel this old

My Ravenwing are painted like the NFL team , the Vikings so my friend suggested I make my Necrons similar to the Bears for teh luls.

I settled on a blue glaze and kept the warplock bronze armor and weapons that they army came with. Then I used the Metalic Gold color to get an orange on them.

Thousand Sons are from future middle east, working on the enlightened desert wisemen idea. That's probably the closest you're going to get. Maybe Tallern Desert Raiders too if you want to run the cliche a bit.

And yeah, I do realise muslim doesn't mean desert culture, but given you've got stuff like not!mongols and not!soviet URAH human wave tactics I think we can safely say that 40k doesn't go into for subtle with its cultural copying.

He read all three codexes I owned and like the Necrons the most. He played all the games on steam so has a general idea of some of the universe now. If he wants to play Necrons and I can get him to play 40k with me by selling my alternative army at a discount then I will most certainly let him play Necrons.

No destroyer cult (but three destroyers) and no Canoptek Harvest.

Before I post this asking for advice - I totally understand I'm garbage, ruining 40k, etc.

Currently my War Convocation is

10x Vanguard - 3x Calivers
5x Rangers - 2x Arquebus
5x Infiltrators
5x Ruststalkers
Ironstrider
Onager Dune Crawler

Tech Priest Dominus
3x Grav Kataphron
3x Grav Kataphron

Knight Crusader w/Battle Cannon/Stormspear Rocket Pod

Inquisitor - ML1, Psyocculum, Liber Hersius, 3x Servo Skulls

BA Librarian - ML1

5x Scouts

3x Drop Pod

Assorted upgrades.

I'm considering swapp the BA Librarian for a Sanguinary Priest, dropping ML 1 on the Inquisitor and for the change I can change my Iron Strider to 2 Dragoons. Thoughts on the swap out?

Figure it out - dropped the Liber Hersius (nice but not super necessary) and the auspex from the sanguinary priest. That clears enough for a 2nd Ironstrider.

Overall I think it is a solid change - I lose a few tools from my tool box but I gain another unit to drop and a 2nd solid LC platform.

>>
>>46167805
Jesus Christ, don't even get me started.

All I asked was for official clarification on whether or not a Baleflamer was considered a Flamer Weapon.

I outlined both argumenst:

FOR -

>It shoots a Template weapon in the exact same manner as a Flamer weapon
>It looks like a Chaos Flamer (like the Flamer in the Helbrute kit)
>It is described as shooting flames
>It has flamer in the name

AGAINST:
>It isn't in The Rules as a Flamer, nor is it explicitly stated in the Codex that it is a Flamer weapon.
>It is described as shooting *Daemonic fire, which can be either actual fire or Warp-fuckery.

The other stipulation I made was that the current Codex came out before they released 7th Edition, and therefore doesn't have Flamer Weapons listed because few, if any, weapons were identified as Flamers beyond the basics in the Rulebook of that edition, whereas newer codecies have those weapons listed explictly as Flamers. It may very well be a Flamer, but that clarification wasn't necessary at the time of its release, so they may not have said it.

All I wanted was an official "Yes," or "No." Instead I got a bunch of random strangers shitposting "READ THE RULES" and "TEMPLATES AREN'T FLAMERS," and "IF IT'S NOT LISTED AS A FLAMER THAN IT ISN'T ONE," completely missing the point of why this question even needed to be asked.

Also, people asking really stupid shit that actually CAN be solved by a quick glance at the rules, like, "How does the Assault phase work?" Which bury ACTUAL questions that need FAQ's in trivial bullshit and greatly reduce the chance they'll be responded to by GW themselves.

Ok, so list tailoring is Not Cool, and I try to build TAC lists, but does anyone see merit in an mtg-esque 'sideboard' system for campaigns, tournaments etc.?

You could set a maximum number of points, units, models, or any combination of those, that can be changed out for a pre-defined alternative that you must be able to WYSIWYG.

You wouldn't be able to use it to fully tailor your list against a certain army, but you could let people trade special/ heavy weapons, HQ loadouts etc.
>>
>>46169773
>make the game more bloated

Why not just balance the game. You're supposed to change your armies for each campaign game anyway.
>>
>>46169773

I've played in a few 'side board' style tournaments. Always been fun if a little unwieldy. I do enjoy the concept of having a few extra tricks and options that allow you to edit your list mid event.

Might work if you give people a limited amount of substitute units instead, since otherwise swapping out would favor those with really customizable loadouts.

That said, it's a bit of a moot point with the current power gulf, as list tailoring is going to be much stronger in the hands of Tau than it is for Orks

>>
>>46169885
This. It kind of depends on what army you're playing, especially if it's just swapping non-WYSIWYG gear or whole new units. There are also some cases where it matters more than others (swapping to/from template weapons, weapons/gear that grant Skyfire) which could allow for some kind of mean pre-match switch-ups.
>>
>>46169834
>You're supposed to change your armies for each campaign game anyway.

I've been trying to decide which legion to build because I have a few that I like for different reasons.

Night Lords, because I love the paint scheme and like Sevatar as a character, but all the torture and flaying makes me roll my eyes.

Ultramarines because I like Roman shit and that they look great with plain armor without upgrades, other than that meh.

Raven Guard because I like beakies and the socialist-freedom-fighter-terrorist fluff, but painting an all black legion seems boring as fuck.

And that leaves me with the Thousand Sons. I'm not too hot on the paint scheme, but I don't hate it. I like the new Achaen pattern upgrade kits they previewed, and I like the fluff, theme and aesthetics of the legion and its tragic story because they didn't do anything wrong. :^)

Plus I fucking hate the Space Wolves. Yiffs, Vikings, executioners, Celts, whatever. I hate the Vlka Fenryka in every flavor. Is picking a legion because you can get into their inter legion rivalry a shit reason?

Cont.

All of your reserves come in on Turn 2 on a roll of a 2+ due to your Autarch, so you do something called 'Null Deploy' if your opponent gets the first turn, or even if you do. You keep some units in reserve and have them strike on Turn 2, this is very useful against Tau

You do not need a 10 man Wraithblade squad. You're trying to build a Deathstar unit but it's not a real DeathStar unit, as you saw when Wraiths tore it apart. It's too expensive points wise.

You need to give your Autarch a Power Weapon, which means he ignores armor saves of 3+, if you want him in combat. Another option is to give him Swooping Hawk wings and a fusion gun, have him Deep Strike with the Hawks and fire his melta gun at a vehicles back armor (the exarch can throw a haywire grenade). Don't forget this unit doesn't scatter

Any other questions ask my anything before I go play vidya

If you can't embrace the ridiculousness and over the top edge you shouldn't pick them.

>Ultramarines because I like Roman shit and that they look great with plain armor without upgrades, other than that meh.

Don't pick them just because they have the cleanest mooks.

The perfect match for you I think is Raven Guard. Normally I would say Thousand Sons, but if you are lukewarm about their color scheme, you don't want an entire army of crimson and gold.

Ways to make Raven Guard interesting is very easy, and you can reduce their black a lot. Paint lots of white on the beaks or arms. Use lots of silver to go with the black. Use a dark grey and experiment with blending and shadows instead of using pure black. Or use one of their various non-black subschemes, like Space Shark grey and black or Ashen Claws bluish-grey steel and red.

You need to like both the looks and the feel of the army, otherwise you will just dump it later on when you get sick of it.

If the guardsmen are Chapter Serfs(or the equivalent)., the human auxiliaries for each chapter who do the maintenance and supply, and crew the starships, then yes. Those guys are actually considered part of the chapter, so they would wear all the heraldry.

If they are regular troops who do not hold rank within their planet's chapter, it's less likely. Note that since Space Wolves chapter serf equivalent include warriors from the clans who live in Asaheim, and the rest of the planet is left alone, any guard regiments drawn from Fenris would probably be chapter auxiliaries.

So I have just been using Ultramarine tactics since they felt the most well rounded and useful. For the most part my army has been working pretty well but against large units or faster armies I tend to crumple.

I tend to keep my snipers and cannon in the rear and drop the pods where they need to go. The sterns with their grav have done well against a lot. Took out a Leman Russ the turn they came in last game, the captain rides with them. The Dreadnaught is great for popping armour too.

I think I am going to start collecting Tacticals and trying a demi company because now that I am playing more Maelstrom missions the Objective Secured seems better and the chapter tactics get better.

uh, no

chapter serfs are the primary fighters in space marine fortresses and on their ships. "Serf" is a very general term.

Going by this article, the status of Chapter Serfs is vague. So you could have your chapter's humans be slaves, conscripts, recruits, failed initiates, ascetic monks who serve in the chapter cult, auxiliaries who defend the planet and spaceships, or a mix of any of those.

Not quite. More like even slight insults can be punished with death, the Marines themselves are considered beyond reproach, and wearing their heraldry without being an official part of the Chapter would be the kind of faux pas that would set them off.

>>46170699

The Ultramar PDF does wear ultramarine blue and feature the agemo but they are unique. They aren't even a real regiment, but a PDF that's "as good as" a seasoned regiment like Cadia due to fluff wank. They were given the honor of wearing the Ultramarine symbol and color due to their outstanding service.

Baal and Fenris would probably just have the standard Cadian armor pattern and whatever camo pattern works for those worlds. Fenris would probably have arctic guardsmen, or maybe primitive feral style regiment like they had back in the day.

So I've been reading Commissar by Andy Hoare and it's been making me think about building up the small IG force I have. So far I have twenty guardsmen, a Cadian command squad, a Chimera and a Leman Russ Eradicator. I'd like to stick with a pretty infantry heavy army, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Should I just buy a gazzilion more guardsmen and some heavy weapons squads?

>Al'rahem

It translates into "The Merciful One". It's one of the names of Allah.

Abd Al'Rahem, for example, means the subject/slave of the Merciful One.

As usual GW screws things up. Who names their badass commander "The Merciful One"?
>>
>>46175501
Tell that to those stuck on pre decurion codexes, they would gladly throw AoS into the fire if their codex were updated right and not being stuck with copy and paste nerfed shit, because there was literally no reason for the shit GW made for GK, BA, Deldars and orks, those codex came after eldar and were given a big fuck you codex that striped away from the few things they had and were absurdly nerfed for no reason.
>>
>>46175472
They are actually useful, the problem is that the SW is a pretty middle tier codex (despite what some people may say) with one/two really good unit, the Thunderwolves and (maybe) the Wulfens, so you always end up with the question "why should I take this unit instead of more TWC?". It's the same situation, if not as bad, of the Tyranids and the Flyrant.

Making Claw units WS/BS 4 would have as the only result having you asking "Why should I take Grey Hunters when I can take Blood Claws for 4ppm less?"

When I think about this problem the solution I think is the best one is making them WS4 BS3. This way they are a better unit in assault while still be worse in the shooting or at holding objectives

Also making making chainsword +1 point for the grey hunters would be really appreciated

head down to a GW and say you are interested. they will give you a free mini to paint usually. if you are hellbent though you can just walk in and buy a start collecting box for an army that interests you (seriously though read through as much lore and look at all the models on the GW webstore, pirate a codex and read the fluff for it. then buy the start collecting box set for that army (if they have one, some don't yet.)

you can also buy these kits online as well but i like having a touch stone with the place i game at. if you are playing with friends or at a flgs you can save some dosh buying it all from online retailers and avoiding GW as much as possible.

No AA. Also, Boss Poles aren't nearly as useful anymore with the "hit yourself for S4 but the enemy for S3 because you got scared of being hit too much" chart. You could turn them into Ammo Runts on your Mek Gunz.

Swap out 2 KMKs for another squad of Traktor Kannons if you expect fliers; otherwise, split up your KMKs into 2 squads since they can only throw 5 small blasts into 1 target as-is.
>>
>>46171884
This seems like it would own bones: much-reduced chance of seeing a unit wiped before it can act, since players go back-and-forth by unit each turn.

Tactics would suffer since reactions would be pretty much instantaneous, but pre-game strategy would be that much more important.

Of course it could also devolve into Dueling Banjos if the players weren't creative enough with their actions, but my meta wouldn't have that problem. Plus, my Lootas would sometimes get to bust open Eldar skimmer transports full of D-wielding fucksticks who would then have to footslog.

Hmmm.

Instant Death from double strength is SOMETHING that all "low" toughness, multi-wound models suffer from.

It drives me nuts when someone suggests a bandaid fix for one faction instead of fixing the core problem.

Personally I'd rather double Strength cause Multiple Wounds (d3) instead of Instant Death.

This causes S8 to only have a 1/3 chance to ID Tyranid Warriors/Khorne Bloodcrushers and 2/3 to ID Ork Nobs/GK Paladins
>>
>>46175731

So guys, I wanna start a Deathwatch army.
Yes, I know there's no Deathwatch codex.
Yes, I know anything I'd make fluffy would probably be terrible gamewise.
I literally don't care if every opponent I face wipes the floor with me.
I have also not played 40k since ~4e (stopped playing regularly about three after it came out)

For models, I have a ton of Space Marine infantry of all kinds, including termies, vets, command squads, devestators and assault marines (sold off my tanks and other vehicles, but was too attached to my nicely painted marines to give those up. Long story short they're all already painted as various chapters, which is also part of why I want to play Deathwatch).
I split the Overkill box with someone that wanted the actual boardgame and someone that wanted the Genestealer cult, so I now have Kill Team Cassius.
A few questions:
1. I know there was an Apoc formation in one of the warzones (Damnos) for Deathwatch. I'm not very familiar with current 40k ettiquete (and general army composition rules): Is this something I'd be able to use in a normal-sized game? Is this something normally considered "legal" or would I have to ask my opponents for permission (latter is also cool, the 40k folks in my area are mostly chill people).
2. Anything in particular I should put in the army to make it loreful other than stuffing in anything that is official and says "deathwatch" (see Overkill and Damnos models mentioned above)?
3. Did I miss any official Deathwatch rules?
4. Any other ideas / resources?

40K is more a side thing for me at the moment, and there are some very serious players (that are people I know to be nice and fun to play with), but my efforts in gameplay, etc. are in other games.

Pic related, suffer not the xeno to live, and all that.

Rumors say that we should receive a codex (if an actual codex or a minidex like the harlequin one it's yet to be seen) for Deathwatch and one for Genestealer cult, so if you wait a bit you may receive what you want
>>
>>46178315
Once again, get what you think looks cool and you'll quickly learn what's good, what isn't and how to make it all work together

1d4chan has a tactica on Tau that's worth reading too

Just be careful not to spam Riptides or shit. Tau can break the game if they're built in a certain way, and no one is going to want to play against you with an army like that. I don't want to scare you off playing Tau, so long as you don't have a particular army build nobody is going to have a problem with you. Those kinds of lists require you to go out and actually research that shit too, so don't worry about stumbling onto it by accident
>>
>>46178015
>>46178090

Necrons are easier to run precisely because they have fewer loadout options for their units--you can't really get buried in choices & desperately trying to remember all the weapon profiles & Special Rules & USRs & such.

Necrons are forgiving, simple, & fun--even their formations are easy to understand, let alone what their units are supposed to do.

Start Collecting Necrons can run you under $70 if you find it at the right place, & lets you play right out of the box.
>>
>>46178255
1)Apoc formation is apoc only. If you can convince your opponent to let you use it then go nuts.
2)Deathwatch can include most things marines have access to
3)None that are still current
4)There are a bunch of ways to make counts-as deathcwatch using the SM codex
The best is probably to pick and mix some of the formations from the book.
1st company task force
Storm Wing
Librarius conclave
even Strike Force ultra
the second option is to play unbound and take Pedro Kantor and lots of Sternguard

Finally consider playing using the Kill team rules. The smaller games suit Deathwatch better since they rarely field army sized forces. There are some official rules from GW, or there's a popular set made by a 3rd party group called Heralds of Ruin
>>
>>46178365
>Genestealer cult minidex

>>
>>46178365
1. Sweet!
2. Still want something to do with my 'reenies until then, though
>>
>>46178255

I was planning on running Deathwatch as 1st Company Task Force using Ultramarines Tactics (because of access to Doctrines which seemed fluffy to me), plus a Reclusiam Command Squad.

Add to that now the squads from Deathwatch: Overkill, and there's enough Deathwatch until an actual book comes out.
>>
I have been told that a black mace deamon prince is a pretty good way of dealing with riptides, wraith-faggots and other monsterous creatures when you're CSM.

Of course though, it's extremely expensive to use effectively with wings, power armour and ofc the black mace.

Is it worth it? Any alternatives other than send in cultists?
>>
>>46178933
Only problem is that when the DP lands and has to sit there for a turn, your opponent will focus all fire on him - especially if he is threatening an HVT.

And since the CSM codex has nothing else as threatening as a DP w/Black Mace - distraction or multiple threats wont work. So you'll need to get lucky and roll invis, or get the extremely fortunate combination of perfect terrain setup + a stupid opponent.

It's strange that while GW was buffing and power creeping almost every single other army - they nerfed one of the worst. Heldrakes and flying Daemon Princes were the saving graces of that book, and GW gutted them both.

Axe of Blind fury is the way to go, friend.
>>
>>46178383
Tau have multiple builds that break the game. They have an obscene anount of game-changing rules and units. The Stormsurge itself is a joke. A Super-Heavy that can be included in normal games (not a LoW), can destroy any type of unit at range, and can protect itself against charges?

Not to mention they have more ignores cover than any army should. Ths alone invalidates several other armies. Cant take AV against them. They can spam MC's, take THREE GC's in an 1850 game, JSJ with cheap units that can threaten anything in the game.

Tau are a joke. The few decent guys I know with Tau armies have shelved them. If you dont specifically build a gimped list, you're just a cheesedicking faggot.

Think it would be worth taking out a sorcerer and two squads of cultists for the DP? Would tone down my main combat squad but they still have Lucius. Main worry is that holding objectives will be harder without cultists.

Speshulists doesn't get a datasheet all on its own, hence no page number.

KThx, guys!
Another thing: What would be a good way to make the army feel like each model is unique / different? I liked what they did with Kill Team Cassius where the infantry squad has models where each one has different abilities / armament. Is there a way to make more squads like those?

No way that I know of in terms of rules, but another thing I plan on doing is mixing up equipment even if it's not really optimal on the tabletop.

So, for example, a Sternguard squad might have a Salamander with a Heavy Flamer, an Iron Warrior with a Combi-Melta, a Black Templar with a Power Sword and Plasma Pistol, an Imperial Fist with a Heavy Bolter, an Ultramarine with a Bolter etc.

While a Vanguard Squad would have a Raven Guard with Lightning Claws, a Space Wolf with a 'Frost Axe' (just a Power Axes or maybe Relic Blade if he's the Sergeant), a Blood Angel with Chainsword, and so on.

I like that.
I also forgot that veteran squads are the way to say "Standard armament? What standard armament?"

Pretty much.

I just think it works really well for a fluffy Deathwatch army. Now I just need the money to do it myself.

My local game store is having an Escalation Tournament. At the 750 point step, one person is bringing a Vendetta for his IG, another is brining a Necron Deathbringer Flight formation, and another guy got word of the above two and went "fuck it, I'm bringing an Imperial Knight Crusader".

Of these guys bringing fliers and super heavies to 750 point games, are these guys faggots, and who is the biggest faggot of all?

Knight and Crons are the biggest faggot. I wouldn't even play in that shit to be honest. The three Escalations I have been brought of had an exclusive rule of no fliers till 1000 and no LoW till 1500.

If your organizer is allowing such blatant faggotry then you should hop ship before you lose your soul.

>no fliers till 1000
To elaborate it was only one flier at that, then you could bring another one for each 500 pts after.

Cultists are shit anyway.
