We can all agree that Ebony Warrior doesn't have a place in lore; he's purely a game-specific challenge put by the developers to incite players to keep leveling up, right?

I don't know where this is from but if this Jobasha is the same Jobasha that runs a shop in Vivec City, I'd say this reminds me of what they call "Thjizzrini". The Khajiit have no feeling of obligation to mundane rules and laws, they are concerned with the "whole" and not with how individual constituent parts move or must move. The "Elven lie" might be his way of calling out the Tamrielic pantheon of Aedra as gods, creators and founders of reality, instead of Doom Drum. Plus, it makes sense since somehow, this pantheon empowers only those who have created it whereas those who choose not to partake in it are called heretics or at best, beasts ignorant of truth.

Daedra worship, or at least reverence, should be quite normal for Khajiit in the 3rd Era since everybody has a somewhat clear idea of who Azura is, especially more cultured folk like Jobasha. Daedra worship is ostracized by the Elven Liars since it takes away the right of distributing "truth" away from them and gives it back to the individuals.

If you know what's good for you, and if you know better than to abide by silly concepts such as mundane law, you'll challenge the rule-makers by choosing to disbelieve the illusion of safety: if you give yourself freely to the Lie and the Liars, you have no choice but to be their property, but if you try to reclaim your right to yourself by trafficking with those who offer knowledge, Princes in this case, you will at least be sure that you freely chose to take the risk of being someone else's property.

Or maybe I'm a huge SJW for Daedra worshippers

I have a question on the dragon variations.
So there's your vanilla standard issue dragon. Forget that, let me make a rank list based on power.
0: Skeletal Dragon
1: Dragon
2: Blood Dragon
3: Frost Dragon
4: Elder Dragon
5: Ancient Dragon
6: Serpentine Dragon
7: Revered Dragon
8: Legendary Dragon
What's the fluff difference though. Why are Blood Dragons called Blood Dragons? I can get that Elder Dragons being called that if they're older than most dragons, but why are Revered Dragons and Legendary Dragons more stronk than Ancient Dragons? Wouldn't an Ancient Dragon be revered and legendary by default? Am I overthinking game mechcanics or what? If Alduin is the first dragon, would Legendary Dragons be the next batch born?

Also, how does Akatosh make dragons? Does he spit and say "become dragon, spit"?
>>

>Giants disappear, place is abandoned
>Used by Tiber in the 3rd era to store the Numidium on its way to Summerset
>He activated it there to see if it worked and it caused the surrounding land to be polluted by toxic magic waste
>Jagar Tharn stores part of the staff of chaos there, because no one would be crazy enough to look for it in an irradiated maze with mutants and other freaks crawling around the place.
>>
>>43541203
>What's the fluff difference though
There is none. Bethesda just needed something to denote power levels so dragon difficulty would scale with the player.

Also, dragons are "made" by Akatosh per say, they are all just miniscule fragments of the Aka-Tusk, which extended to Akatosh in particular due to the Dance of the Selectives

Also Skeleton Dragons are just normal skeletons, but using Dragon bones instead of mortal bones. Said skeletal dragons may have either invested thier soul into a Dragon Priest, got their bones animated after another Dovahkiin ate their soul, or the Dragon learned himself a form of necromancy (like Dhurnivir) and put a fallback on his body.

Or Hoaga or some other Tongue did it with his Mud-mouth Thu'um and filled them with dirt to reanimate.

Not quite. Lorkhan trapped his soul into Aka-Tusk's, making them one and mimicking Anu and Padhome. While you are technically right about the Amulet, the the reason why all the emperors are Dragonborn is because Aka makes you DB as part of your covenant with him. Also it's less of the actual "souls" and more of the memories accumulated.
It also works as the control core for the Artificial Ada (robot-shezzarine) Pelinel Whitestrake since he came from the sci-fi future of the Middle Dawn AU where Reman became the baddest mofo Space Emperor ever, until the dance of the Selectives ended.

Not all the emperors are relatives anon, and the Covenant of Akatosh can be extended to any that are seen worthy and are chosen by the Amulet. Heck, Hjalti has no relations to the previous Empires, and his direct line ended only a few generation later.

Plus on of the most beloved of the emperors of the Septim Dynasty was a Dunmeri woman, and the next heir was her son via her Breton consort

So I'm going to sum up everything I've learned. I'm probably going to get everything all wrong. Come CHIM or madness, I'm going to do it anyway. Lorkhan betrayed Aka and took his heart, said heart fused with his, and when it was taken out it allowed creation to be a thing. Aka was broken into eight pieces but all the same person. Talos is Lorkhan but is also Akatosh, and Lorkhan is also Sithis. The Grey Beards told Talos to remember the color of betrayal referring to his betrayal of himself as Lorkhan when he betrayed Aka. Talos is the mightiest being in existence. The Last Dragonborn is an aspect of Talos and Lorkhan. Miraak wanted to create a new world where he can mantle the All-Maker. Am I going good so far? The Convention will happen again when the world ends, and the same gods will return to their original forms. I got that right? A new world will be born just so Alduin can destroy it when the time is right just so another new world can be born and he'll rinse and repeat. Would he be around for the new world? Also the Last Dragonborn is fighting against himself(Alduin) because he's a fragment of a schizophrenic god.

Well, considering I know things which shouldn't be known, and I just invaded the Godhead's dream, I'd probably either Zero-Sum, Amaranth, become a Dagoth-esque dream zombie (do my head would probably explode with enlightenment) or get forcibly ejected from the dream as soon as I arrive

In as much, say, Rei III is LILITH in NGE, though not an accurate comparison.
>The Last Dragonborn is an aspect of Talos and Lorkhan
One by being a Shezzarine and one by being a Dragonborn (correct me if I'm wrong, which I'm fairly certain I am)
>The Convention will happen again when the world ends
This particular end of the world you're referring to is when Alduin eats the world literally, and resets the Kalpa into the Convention, yes.
The gods will differ, though.
Like Herma-Mora or Dagon, forget which, wasn't one in the last Kalpa.
>A new world will be born just so Alduin can destroy it when the time is right just so another new world can be born and he'll rinse and repeat.
Actually he was supposed to eat it already, but because it's the Last Kalpa he decided fuck that and ruled over men. Them he got shunted forward in time, and LDB (who is the LAST Dragonborn because self-fulfilling prophecy) kicked his arse. That caused Alduin to go and rejoin Akatosh (because Akatosh > LDB) and thus making this the Last Kalpa.
>Would he be around for the new world?
Yeah, he are Nirn in the previous Kalpas because that's his thing.

There's another "end of the world" thing, but that's CODA stuff and people complain about it.

If I could become a god, I'd probably just try and make life better for everyone. Be a god of peace or fertility or something, and just help people, especially the races and individuals I specifically like.

Nord, and try to achieve CHIM. See what's the worst I could possibly do after becoming a god. Then do a list that will be added on as I go on.
1: Kill Maven Black Briar.
2: Have tea with Parathnax.
3: Kill Thalmor
4: Find a way to do #1&4 at the same time.
5: Fix Winterhold.
6: Take a a guise of an aspect of the Nine Divines and preach a creed in Skyrim that involves ending any Civil War resentments, restarting the Knights of the Nine, and a core tenant of the creed is Thalmor and Foresworn murder is great Justice.
7: Create a 4chan for mages.
8: Send Nazeem to the clouds and ask him "Do you get to the clouds often? Of course not, gravity hates you". Think of something better as he falls to the ground.
9: Fix the Falmer. Maybe turn them into an Elven Ãœbermensch for laughs and giggles. Blame their misfortune on time traveling Thalmor. Watch Thalmor die.
10: Question how morally questionable it is to open a shop selling captured Thalmor as pets with an aminal mindset.
11: Wonder how many parents are going to complain about their kids walking elves that act like dogs.

When it comes to race, I'd be a Dunmer, so that I can study magic, live long and chill out.

Once I've established myself, I'd probably want to travel to exotic places. See Red Mountain, go on a pilgrimage to High Hrothgar, visit Necrom, and study in the Temple of the Two Moons Dance.

Ok, so just to be clear: in Skyrim I'm Dragonborn, killing Alduin, who is myself, then I go on to Solstheim to stop Miraak, who is also myself from awakening/becoming some sort of Super-Aka-Tusk (who is also myself), while being guided by the Skraals All-maker, who is also myself. All while being the Listener of myself, because I'm also Sithis. Oh, and in Dawnguard I get Auriel's bow which is in fact getting back my bow, because I'm also Auriel.
Is this correct?

>>
>>43546812
Lorkhan is not Sithis. Sithis does not really exist, he's just Anu's memory of Padhome manifesting as the concept of Void, Nothingness, and Oblivion

Lorkhan is tangentially connected to Sithis, because he is a Padhomic, and one of the most powerful Padhomics, whereas Aka-Tusk is Anu's self-insert into the dream, and as such is one of the most powerful of the Anuics.

Lorkhan ripped his soul out of his heart, and bound it inside Aka's soul when he wasn't looking. Aka Splintered after Convention due to him and the other Aedra getting depowered to power Nirn, and Alduin is one of those splinters.

Akatosh, one of the other splinters and the largest one, empowers the Dovahkiin by inserting a piece of his soul into him, and the Dovahkiin is also an Avatar of Lorkhan by virtue of being a Shezzarine, so within the LDB both Aka and Lorkhan are one.

Sithis, by virtue of being the reflection of Padhome in Anu's dream, is usually seen as the source of most all the Padhomic entities, but he himself does not really exist save in theory. Hence your confusion.

Really, the whole Schizophrenia metaphor is horrible and you shouldn't pay any attention to it. It's more like one God fusing himself into another God, causing the previous God to shatter into smaller Gods.
>>
>>43546170
Shit, nothing really close at all?
>>
>>43547296
>so within the LDB both Aka and Lorkhan are one.
Funny, last thing that did this was TalOS
>>
>>43547421
Talos had the advantage of having Two incredibly powerful shezzarines and a Dovahkiin, all of which had exposure to the Numidium, and one of which was directly exposed to the Heart of Lorkhan, and they were all able to get together and emulate Interplay.

The closest the LDB gets is through defeating Miraak and taking his soul, and even then he is is still missing 1/3 of the Interplay and the most exposure he's gotten to Lorkhan is via Tsun and Sovengard.

The only way he can get close is if he where to somehow slay and consume Herma-Mora as well, then he could possibly mantle Aka due to his exposure to both Alduin and the artifacts of Auriel

>>
>>43548161
Sotha Sil was probably as far from the dwemer as you can get. He went the opposite, researching and loving the world that was made, rather than seeking to leave it behind.
Probably why he never achieved CHIM or otherwise. If Nirn was a cage, the dwemer were whiny bitches that kept trying to rock the cage, people like Talos and Vivec decided to try and unlock the cage and show people out, and Sotha Sil was like "Damn this cage is really well put together" and decided to start researching cage-building.
>>
>>43548246
From my understanding, Mantling is essentially taking over the role of/replacing some important figure/god/concept. You're not necessarily ACTUALLY this thing, but for all intents and purposes, you are.

I've heard that in Morrowind, you're not necessarily an actual re-incarnation of Indoril Nevervar, but you Mantled him and that's why Dagoth Ur calls you Nerevar.
>>
>>43548329
So you're a stand in while the actual thing is on lunch break?
>>
>>43542997
I'm not a big loremaster like people in this thread
being slightly aware of the dream wouldn't zero sum me right?
>>
>>43548346
No, the actual thing is gone, you're the replacement. I think it's almost always a forceful replacement.

Another instance is the Shivering Isles DLC. The Champion of Cyrodiil mantled Sheogorath because Jyggalag was coming back and Sheo didn't want this to happen (twist: Sheo IS Jyg, other Daedra turnd Jyg into Sheo way back in the day) so you went through some mythic bullshit and essentially took Sheo's place, so now Sheo (You) and Jyg (Old Sheo) exist.
>>
>>43548246
If you become so much like somebody, that the godhead confuses the two of you for the same person, or "good enough." to play that role.
Sheogorath lets you take his position as the Prince of Madness, you get the can and outfit, and everything. You are now Sheogorath and he is you.
You defeat Umaril and wear Pelinel's Divine futuristic armor. You are now so much like him, that you are him, or at least you're good enough of a replacement.
Since both of these people are you, they are now each other. That's why Pelinel is insane.
>>
>>43548398
Define slightly.
>>
>>43548346
Imagine reality is a doorman who is waiting for a celebrity he has never seen before to come. All the doorman has is a checklist of unique features describing this celebrity. He knows the celebrity has purple eyes, a roman nose, brown hair, and wears a leather jacket.

If a random pedestrian who meets all those criteria is walking by, the doorman could easily mistake them for that celebrity.

Replace pedestrian with Mantler, celebrity with Mantle, and doorman with reality.

Switch it from Arena shitty right-click swing to Morrowind+ style FPS mode in the options menu. It feels so much better.

When you get out of the starting dungeon, you should get some sort of letter saying to meet somebody somewhere by some date. DO IT. Alteration is fuckin sick mang, just don't compare it to Korra, it's better than that.

Illusion always felt too underhanded and more powerful than it ought to be. Actual mental effects like calm and fury and rally and stuff, sure, but invisibility and muffle should belong to Alteration, too, if not exclusively. I'd argue that you should be able to alter light or yourself so light bends or passes through you and that the actual sounds made by your footsteps are negated.

Alteration at its root is causing change in the world, it SHOULD be able to do anything, or a lot more than it can.

>>43552773
I read Response and I have played Morrowind.

Now, I know Illusion is actually useful in game, but I'm arguing mostly why Invisibility and Muffle are Illusion spells when Alteration at its base description and meaning, ought to be able to create the effect. If I am altering the laws of nature, effectively bending the Earth Bones, why can't I do more with it? Or is it specifically because of that?

Look, I'm no loremaster, I'm just making an argument.

Illusion isn't altering light when it's casting invisbility.

it's altering people's perception of you. This is why chameleon is a more powerful effect than invisibility: Instead of simply eliminating their visual perception, you're removing any effects you cause from their total perception as well.

Basic Elder Scrolls theology is that things aren't exactly things in of themselves but something more like the roles an actor puts on in a play. If the role is put down in some manner usually by the actor dying or having mantled someone else then the vacant role can be picked up by anyone who can play the part.
>>
>>43554666
>>43554705

See, this is why I can't get into morrowind (and oblivion). It wants you to use, like, fourteen different skills or something crazy?

With the class system it wants you to choose everything you'll do right away and have you do a whole bunch of different stuff, but I like only using a few skills per character.

Which sucks because I would really like to get into Morrowind.

in real life not everyone would be great at everything. in skyrim your character is a fucking mary sue.

in morrowind, your character is good at somethings, bad at others. Just like how I am great with astronomy, and HORRIBLE with math. Your character is good at destruction, but HORRIBLE with axes.
>>
>>43555070
In skyrim that's why I use builds. I have a character that's good at conjuration, one handed, and light armor, but he doesn't sneak often, wear heavy armor, use two handed and etc. Builds are the best way to play Skyrim, as it's easy to become OP. Also it's better to focus on specific things, than everything...especially when things scale.
>>
>>43555045
I've never seen the benefit of speech skills, since Illusion charm spells can do it better PLUS a whole bunch of other useful effects. And after 20 levels or so you're rich enough to bribe anyone at any time for negligible amounts of septims. You might want to consider Alteration as a minor, or Athletics, so you begin to run faster over time sooner. It'd also give you the option of raising Speed if you feel the need.

Otherwise sounds pretty good.

Grab scrolls of Almsivi or Divine Intervention when you run into them and have the coin to spare. Even if you can cast Mark and Recall they make moving lots of loot around easier.

Start raising Endurance as soon as possible.

Go everywhere, read everything. Talk to everyone about all topics.

Once you've played the game for a bit you should have a good idea of what you want to mod to have more fun. There's a mod for absolutely everything by now.

In skyrim, I can stick to using just five skills. I can have a character who uses nothing but two handed, heavy armor, block, destruction, and alchemy. Five skills. And that's pretty much what I always do. Just a small handful of skills.

Meanwhile, in Morrowind, it expects me to have, what, not only like seven major skills, but seven more minor skills? It gives me some problems getting into the game when I really like specialized characters.

Kind of? They're just Bretons, basically. >>
>>43557064
It's a big ass tree, like everything else of importance in Valenwood. Known as 'green-sap' apparently, and was mobile until the Oblivion Crisis, after which it put down roots and settled in the south of the province, unless I'm mixing it up with the capital city of Valenwood.

The Bosmer themselves have some very interesting religious beliefs, foremost of which is the 'green pact', which was some kind of agreement by their ancestor spirit Y'ffre and the spirits of the forest. It basically blocks them from using any plant products that require killing said plants, and as a result are entirely carnivorous, to the point where they ritually engage in cannibalism so as not to let any go to waste. In return, if Valenwood is invaded or otherwise menaced, the Bosmer warriors can turn themselves into horrific beasts that kill anything and everything, including each other, until all but one has died. This is called the wild hunt and presumably gives hircine a massive orgasm every time it is performed/

I wish there were more quests involving the Forsworn.
My run at No-one Escapes Cidhna Mine ended with Madanach dead, Thonar alive, most of the Forsworn friendly and escaping, and several dead vampires who chose precisely the wrong time to attack the city.
>>
>>43557220
All the expanded Forsworn mods fucking suck, too

And there's not enough detail on them. They seem to be daedra worshippers, connected to Hircine maybe. They've got the whole hagraven thing with the Briarhearts that started with Faolan.
>>
>>43557267
>Faolan
>tfw when no reuniting the rightful ruler of the Reach with his people.
>>
>>43557284
Shit that would be cool

The whole 'returning the magic sword to the rightful king' thing totally smacks of King Arthur, too (which makes sense since Faolan is the Celtic king of a people displaced by angry Saxons)

That'd be a badass way to expand the Forsworn, would be somehow creating a questline where you can go full Arthurian and restore Faolan and fight alongside him.
>>
>>43557267
Hircine is pretty important to them. There is at least one shrine of him in one of the caves.

I posted pictures of here once, but the texture was too shitty to translate the daedric letters.
>>
>>43557311

>>43557495
and i forgot to mention, they wanted the chosen girl fthat was supposed to be a priestress of dibella
>>
>>43557478
Basically just Red Eagle and No One Escapes Cidhna Mine

They're important to the backstory (The Forsworn invasion of Markarth killed the previous Jarl, which is when Ulfric gained his following since he was the one who counter-invaded and drove them out, and Thonar Silver-Blood used the death of the Jarl and the capture of Madanach to advance himself by using the Reachmen as a weapon) and there's a quest where you learn how Hagravens are created (some sort of ritual, though it's not clear who they're communing with... maybe Hircine?)

but for the most part they're just slightly-more-interesting bandits.

>>43557495
I think he was joking about how skimpy the Forsworn gear is.
>>
>>43557506
Man, they are on a different level from bandits. >Ruled by a King, with Briarhearts, Hagravens, and Matriarchs mentioned in Forsworn Missive somewhere in the power structure. Also
>Surprisingly tough. Witches may also be on their side.

If they got their shit together, they could probably capture Falkreath.

They're basically the ashlanders of Skyrim.

Ashlanders were there before, Forsworn weren't, that why I want to erradicate them.

why are Altmer so shit at returning to their godhood they hailed from?
>since the beginning of creation those bananas wanted nothing more than to shatter the towers and undo the creation so they could hang out with auriel again
>meanwhile the tribunal become living gods
>the dwemer build their own god out of some pile of refuse that auriel left behind
>A FILTHY HUMAN AQUIRES CHIM
how can the bananas be such enormous fuckups that even in the 10th era they haven't finished their little game yet?

Because becoming a god within the Dream isn't the same as breaking the Dream and returning to pre-Mundus creation

All the power in Mundus means nothing to them, because Mundus itself is nothing to them but a prison.

Pre-mundus creation is part of the dream m8.
