The Earth Bones are what fix Mundus into a stable form; it is a term synonymous with natural law. The Aedra become the Earth Bones after Convention, and their corpses are visible in the night sky as the plane(t)s.

>>43514333
that woman is THIS? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Faydra_Shardai

Doesnt look like it.
>>
>>43514397
I was more referring to the fact that Battlespire introduced three Daeric clans working for Mehrunes Dagon.
The Dremora Clan, the Xivilai Clan and the Shardai Clan.
Dremora and Xivilai have since become species in their own right, but the Shardai kind of haven't.

And the woman in the picture is a seducer.
>>
>>43514563
Too bad the clan serves Dagon. I'd summon a few if they served Mephala, Nocturnal, or Namira
>>
>>43511239
So the Earth Bones are like the Laws of Nature (e.g. Gravity, Linear Time, etc.)?
>>
>>43514619
Well, back then the Dremora were in exclusive service to Dagon, and we all know how little that aligns with current lore.
Battlespire also had a daedric race of brown skinned white haired women named Nocturnals, who were actually kind of likeable and didn't really serve anyone other than themselves, from what I could gather.

So I have a question about the Falmer. I know the Dwemer fed toxic fungi to them that rendered them blind, but it is never said how they became the twisted things they are. I heard people on /r/teslore mention that the Dwemer used their tonal harmony to make "anti-creations". Is it possible that the Dwemer experimented on the Falmer with "anti-creation" tonal harmonics and it twisted them?

Maybe, just maybe, it's not our fault that we struggle with understanding it. Maybe it's because it's not written coherently. Maybe it's an authors responsibility to distinguish his texts from scribble. Just maybe is all I'm saying.

So you're saying Dagoth Ur is really..
>>
>>43519089
I'd agree if this was some crucial text, or one directly in the games. Some text that's supposed to be more or less easily understood.
The Magne-Ge Pantheon feels like it's very intentionally written to be alien, incomprehensible, and just overall strange. And it's sort of fun like that. It just lies there, like some optional "end boss" of the lore. It's also fun to be able to read and make theories about one of the few subjects that hasn't been entirely decoded, decided and normalised by greater loremasters than me.
I don't want a lot of texts like the Magne-Ge Pantheon, and the style would upset me in other contexts. But as the arcane lore of a decidedly alien race, I'm sort of okay with it.

A dragon's name is a summary of their character, but it is a summary written from the perspective of dragons.
Paarthurnax was a tyrant, is a tyrant, and has always been a tyrant, because his philosophy of self-control is inimical to the nature and natural order of dragons.

To dragons, rule of the strongest is the ideal government. To take what you are able to take is not merely accepted or expected, but inherently praiseworthy, because the fact you were able to take it proves beyond all doubt that you are the one more worthy to possess it. To take what is yours is your moral duty, and what's yours is all you can take.
To accept control without power is perverse, contentment is degeneracy, and to allow the weak to take for themselves is heresy.

Paarthurnax, meanwhile, would have dragons accept the rule of a formless, powerless philosophy, to which he himself is subservient, which teaches that true strength is found in restraint, abstinence, and inaction. It teaches that the powerful have a duty to serve the weak. This, to a dragon, is the greatest tyranny imaginable.

Literaly the first TES game since Morrowind to make nods to the First Pocket Guide.

I dont like everything ESO does either but the Bosmer lore is spot on and so is pretty much everything post launch. Orsinium is pretty spot on lore wise.

I mean hell it prominently features trinimac in all its elf like stuff and Craglorn was realy great aswell, actually displaying nedes as something else as "plot device people".

I know people hate that game. But its lore as of late isnt shit.

I mean hell, ESO even acknowledged the diversity of argonians.
No other game did that so far.
>>
>>43520512
Indoubt it's gone, I was browsing it like 5 or 6 hours ago.
>>
>>43520641
I would actually prefer it if Online was entirely horrible.
I played it at launch, and continued doing so for a short time, but stopped because I don't really like MMOs and the game was pretty shit.
But I do have to say that there's occasionally some cool pieces of lore that pop out of it. Not in the sense the the game PRODUCES a lot of new, interesting lore (my impression is that it's actually pretty weak in that regard), but mainly that it ACKNOWLEDGES some more obscure things.
If the game had just been horrible from A to Z, it would have been so easy to completely disregard it.
>>
>>43520641
But the fucking alliances
I just
Why
>>
>>43521513
Daggerfall Covenant is not pants of head retarded, but bosmer+khajiit and the whole Ebonheart Pact...
>>
>>43521595
And multiple sources in-game admit that the alliances are falling apart, and there's about 8 books about how much everyone hates eachother despite the alliances.
>>
>>43521513
>tribunal somehow allows this level of shit to go down
>>
>>43521660
Yet they still exist, and won't fall apart in the the game. Some token books telling us that they aren't too happy about it means nothing.
>>
>>43521660
>House Dres agreeing to free all the argonian slaves
>>
>>43521706
Well, they agreed to abolish slavery post-Morrowind.
>>
>>43521513
>>43521595
I actually disagree that the ebonheart pact is a bad thing.
Personally its my favorite piece of lore that got out of ESO.

Maybe not because of its consitency with the rest of the lore but because of its uniqueness.

its like the Ottomans and the Austrians teaming up in World War 1, its just brilliant to behold, they are all so very different.

>>43521280
Actualy it DOES produce some good bits. Again, the Bosmer lore is almost entierly done by them and its great.
The same goes for Tthe orcs. They had very little to build on, and they expanded way beyond that. The whole Trinimac thing for example.

They also did a pretty good job with the barsaebic ayleids in black marsh.

>>43521706
House Dres was literaly the first house to abolish slavery.
House Dres relies on slaves out of opportunism, but they are also quick to change, its Redoran and Indoril who are resistant to change, NOT dres.
>>
>>43521890
Not surprised, Indorils and Redorans are the type of people to still use the n-word even during the more civil eras, the pointy eared barbarians.
>>
>>43521890
>House Dres represents the past of pre-Tribunal Great House culture, a persistent tradition of Daedra- and ancestor-worshipping civilized Dunmer clans.
>Always firm Temple supporters, House Dres is hostile to Imperial law and culture, and in particular opposed to any attempts to limit the institution of slavery.
>House Dres is an agrarian agricultural society, and its large saltrice plantations rely completely on slave labor for their economic viability.
>>
>>43522067
doesnt change the fact that they dropped it while the others didnt.

also you know, its not like slavery was dropped in ESO, and there still is illegal slavery of argonians.
And the shadowscales are also kinda guerillas that murder people for dubious reasons.

So, I've been thinking, /tgesg/.
Since one could Fortify their Intelligence to mathematically disprove someone's existence...

And since one could simply brew 20 potions of Fortify Intelligence and Fortify Willpower...

And one could use the former or Fortify Alchemy/Enchant to make stronger potions...

Could someone use Alchemy to disprove all of their enemies existences, and/or achieve CHIM?
>>
>>43522673
Not before they zero-sum themselves.
>>
>>43522755
That's what Fortify Willpower is for.
>>
>>43521890
>Maybe not because of its consitency with the rest of the lore but because of its uniqueness.
By that logic, making a canon event that has Meridia revealed to just be a rogue Hist in drag, and that Peryite is just Mario the Magnificent on a unicycle, would be the best thing ever.
Things mean something because of their relation with other things, and breaking that makes something pointless.
>>
>>43522769
Zero-Summing isn't exactly a Will Check, m8.
>>
Who would win in a fight CHIM or The Force
>>
>>43522796
From what I recall, zero-summing is when 1 + -1= 0
CHIM is forcing 1 + -1 = 1 through willpower and/or preparation.
I think there's a pic of it, I'll look for it.

>>
>>43522942
OK, well, could you explain what separates CHIM from Zero-summing, then?
The way I learned it, Zero summing was realizing you were in a dream and that you weren't real. Reality realizes you aren't real. You cease to exist.
CHIM would be realizing that you are in a dream, and realizing you can control the dream. E. I., Lucid dreaming.

Love
>>
>>43523015
Zero-Summing is your incapability to continue existing once you've reached the conclusion of "i am not real, nothing is real" and much like in CHIM you become able to control reality, but since you only realize that nothing exists you use your new found console commands to remove yourself from existence, while achieving CHIM you use those to anchor your existence into the world more firmly and become connected with powers that allow you to bend reality.

Wouldn't the ashy air make it harder for mushrooms to grow in Vvardenfell?

The ash is apparently very nutrient rich, and spreads into the soil in farther locations.
The mushrooms seem to grow in places that aren't affected by ash-storms, such as Sheogorad and other coastal regions.

As for lung disease, most people stay inside during the worst bits of it, and people normally wear protective clothing.
As for how disease works, it's possible that in TES, the local Dunmer are more resistant to it after being more exposed to it. I recall something from ESO (Yeah, I know.) that had a Nord coughing up sludge because he had never been to Vardenfell. If not, I'm sure it's something a Healer could fix.

So, logically Elsweyr would be the military powerhouse of the Dominion, right? Or is it the Altmer instead?
>>
>>43529358
Kind of hard to tell, honestly.
I suspect it might be Alinor itself, actually.

The Khajiiti forces are probably not used to their full extent either. I can't imagine the Dominion allowing Khajiits to hold especially important military positions, and the whole topic of Khajiiti warfare is so strange that only Khajiits really comprehend it.
So I can imagine the war having situations where you'd have Khajiiti fighters commanded directly or indirectly by some Altmer who cares very little for the Khajiits, and has no idea how to properly pull of mixed unit tactics.

The Khajiiti navy was probably useful though, especially in trying to keep control over the Niben.
>>
>>43529358
Hm hard to say. Naturally a lot of officers and general would be Altmer, but i can still imagine a good chunk of the military being them as well. Khajiit would definitely provide great shock troopers with the larger breeds and plenty of stealth archers. Bosmer of course for archers and skirmishers. But yah Khajiits probs give a lot of variety for the Dominion.
>>
>>43529358
I'd expect the Khajiiti cavalry and skirmishers to be placed on a more auxillarly role, given that the Thalmor's whole (public) motive as the current ruling party in Alinor is asserting racial superiority, Khajiiti tactics are nigh-incomprehensible to most military leaders, and that they (the Khajiit) are culturally disinclined to take orders from outsiders, especially those attempting to fuck the up the Lattice.

Beyond that, a calvarly unit is only useful in certain areas. While it'd be an asset in raids or assaults on places like Sphinxmoth or Nibeny, it'd be useless in rocky areas like the Reach, densely forested areas like Southern Hammerfell, or in marshy areas like Archon.

They'd also be of questionable use during sieges, given their "lightning bruiser" style of combat which favors quick movement and light armaments.
>>
>>43529570
>while it'd be an asset in raids or assaults on places like Sphinxmoth or Nibeny, it'd be useless in rocky areas like the Reach
The forested areas or marshy areas I can totally agree with, but tiger cats would probably do just fine on rocks. When you have something big and meaty like a tiger, than can rock-run like a bobcat, with human level intelligence it would likely work out in their favor.
>>
>>43529620
Point taken, I was thinking of more traditional cavalry. On the other hand, there's a chance the Dominion's generals may do the same.

>>
>>43532369
Ebony sources in Tamriel correspond to the path of the arrow of Auri-el that launched Heart of Lorkhan from Direnni Tower to Vvardenfel. This may be because ebony is Lorkhan's blood. Now think about the fact that Daedric is ceremonially imbued ebony.

But of course, ESO ruins this by placing all the ebony in Cyrodiil and Coldharbour.

Why do you think those all those dwemer ruins contain chest after chest filled with raw ebony alongside glass, which is originally not magical but volcanic. There is a reason why dwemer civilization, absolutely dependent on raw materials, was centered around Red Mountain.

Also, >>43535787 I agree with this anon. Production and import of ebony is a huge deal in Vvardenfel. It's illegal to smuggle it or trade it without serious permissions. If I were a proud Altmer of high political power like Ocato I'd also try to limit the distribution of Doom Drum's heritage. And if I were a money and power hungry warlord like Vedam Dren I'd try to establish a monopoly on raw ebony.

So, by all means, kill me, I'll even fight back if it makes you happy."

I want a Sload buddy now. Like a fat gangster boss you can turn to for skeletons and whatnot.

Ioncross is no fucking pushover, sure he's an ungodly powerful flamboyant psychic, but in the time period he was in, he was rightfully one of the best combatants, even without his powers. Nanosteam's actually got a sort of sci-fi version of Harry Potter's pensieve, so you get an opportunity to get people's memories and actually play through them and one of those involves fighting him head-to-head. He is one of the harder minibosses.

In terms of gameplay, how openworld vs. story driven will it be? Can you compare it with The Witcher 3 or Morrowind?

Trust me, when you learn the truth about that entire situation, it gets WAAAAAY worse. Ioncross' lore is fun as hell. In a depressing, apocalyptic sort of way.

>>43537257
Witcher 3 i'd say. Main quest is very long and involved and once you enter the areas it's in you're locked in till the end of the quest. But at the same time there's plenty of breaks in between that let you go and explore on your own. In fact, you're actively encouraged too since that's where the majority of lore and adventures are discovered, many of which tie back into the main quest.
>>
>>43537302
Well, I guess it's easier that way... Still hyped.

And you're welcome to, provided you're not currently on some mission in the main quest.
It's like... dungeons basically. Once you enter, you're committed.

>>43537453
It's a good guess, but when the Rearrange happens it's about four centuries after Trenk Tarsan shanks the fucker. And there's enough other psychics around that they'd have taken notice of the most powerful telepath in existence doing shit.

I suppose raiding is possible, though then you have to ask why they're going all the way to Senchal, just to raid one of Elsweyr's biggest cities.
Also the book "Corpse Preparation", from Morrowind, says:
>"It is said that in the port of Senchal, one may purchase anything one desires. This is true if you desire fresh corpses."

[And so after many battles with] Umaril's allies, where dead Aurorans lay like candlelight around the throne, the Pelinal became surrounded by the last Ayleid sorcerer-kings and their demons, each one heavy with varliance. The Whitestrake cracked the floor with his mace and they withdrew, and he said, "Bring me Umaril that called me out!" ... [And] while mighty in his aspect and wicked, deathless-golden Umaril favored ruin-from-afar over close combat and so he tarried in the shadows of the white tower before coming forth. More soldiers were sent against Pelinal to die, and yet they managed to pierce his armor with axes and arrows, for Umaril had wrought each one by long varliance, which he had been hoarding since his first issue

Direct quote from Song of Cyborg-Hitler-Paladin (or Pelinal)

No particular reverence as a whole. She doesn't appear in their pantheon with her original name or under another unlike some other princes, but it could be possible that some career thieves might revere her much the Thieves' Guild.

>>
>>43538896
Not a primary deity. Seemingly not even considered important enough to be part of their creation myth.
I doubt the Khajiit would agree to even call her the Ur-Dra, that title instead perhaps going to Namiira or Hermorah. They probably don't show much reverence to the "greatest" Prince, instead favouring Princes like Azurah.

Any worship is likely to be minor, or due to either personal faith or membership in a cult. Thieves might be her biggest fans.
