I saw a few different people getting 4 out of 5 of the maincard picks on the official predictions poster, so it looked like quite a good night overall for the pickers.

Sure, and all else being equal being able to maintain top control without getting slapped from the bottom should win you the round, but Shevchenko threw plenty from underneath Nunes and Nunes didn't do anything while on top.

The benefit of getting a takedown is that you are on top, which should theoretically be its own reward. It's like how the reward for evading or blocking a strike is... not being hit with it.
