McLaren's only real option is Honda. It is so clear that they are going to stick with them. It would be such a shitshow just for them to get a Renault engine which probably won't see upgrades until 2018 and will likely never be as good as a Merc or Ferrari.

I honestly don't think Honda is quite as incompetent as they appear. Sure they've had a lot of time to improve but they are playing eternal catch up. Sure it kills the Alonso but if Honda can put together even a half-decent engine for these regulations and then start looking at the 2021 new PU, I do think they could bring out something excellent when given enough prep time as all the other manufacturers.

>>77206688

It would make sense if the problem was merely performance based, if it was just a slow engine the thing would be understandable, Honda is infact at least 3 years behind the other manufacters but by now one would expect the engine to actually work, they were not out of the points by a matter of power but just because the engine couldn't finish a full race week-end and this is a big problem one can't just keep on with. A Renault engine is not on Ferrari/Merc level obv but at least is a bit more reliable and that's what McLaren needs until the new engine formula since it's clear they can't aim at winning

They started doing repairs and investment in the Galvez since the beginning of the year. Rio Hondo is GOAT and already hosts MotoGP. But Bernie wanted to have the circuit in Buenos Aires and not in Santiago del Estero.

Potrero de los Funes also has a goat circuit. Such a shame. If F1 came back it would probably sell out every year. People already flock from province to province to watch Turismo Carretera (longest racing competition still active)

Here's an objectively correct list:

BRING BACK
>Memestanbul Park
>Brands Hatch
>Watkins Glen
>Magny Cours (inb4 le boring track lmao)
>Old Memeckenheim
>Old Osterreichring

DROP FOR SURE
>Shanghai
>Sochi
>Mexico
>Yassss Marina

PROBABLY COULD DO WITH A DROPPING
>Singapore
>Silverstone (its a good track but its just so incredibly overdone)
>Shittenheim

In a way I kind of hate the "go back to the same places every year" thing. I get it and I get how the contracts work but it would be nice for there to be more variation from season to season. Races can always be good but its hard to get excited about Catalunya or Monaco or Silverstone every year for the 1000th time when all the drivers and even semi-attentive viewers know the tracks so inside and out that they know exactly when overtakes can happen and where. I really can't even think of that many "unique" or "unusual" overtakes from the past years aside from some of the Verstappen rain moves like the one in Beckett's which might actually be the only time someone has overtaken there in modern F1.

Why not have a more rotating calendar? Have an EuroGP that goes from Imola to Magny Cours to Nurburgring etc. Have an Asian GP that rotates Malaysia, Fuji, even Shanghai would be bearable every 3-5 years. Just make the races cheaper to host. I am actually amazed that a place like Silverstone supposedly can't turn a profit from all those attendees, must have gotten turbojewed by Bernie like there's no tomorrow. Or then theyre just trying to jew more money because muh heritage on a track that's less than a decade old.

While I don't want halo or Shields (if you want it go all out and make them closed cockpit) that argument is pretty much non existent.

It doesn't happen in LMP1 and with a proper safety crew the response time would be short enough to deal with fires.

That should be the first thing F1 changes. Get a dedicated safety crew that goes to every race. Stop relying on meme local marshals for places like Baku.
>>
>>77208063
>Brands Hatch
Why? Zero overtaking lol because that track is for go-karts, not safe enough (see below) can't even use the full layout because people who moved into houses next to the track fully aware they were moving into a house next to a motor racing venue complain about the noise
>Watkins Glen
Why? Track would be butchered and ruined completely a la Silverstone, Hockenheim and Österreichring if they wanted to make it safe enough
>Magny Cours
le boring track lmao
Why? Dozens of times worse than Silverstone, nobody wants to go to the track because it's 100km from civilisation, it has stupid, unnecessary chicanes that spread out the field far too much, that final chicane is atrocious and the pit straight is flanked on either side by 200m of asphalt so the racing line isn't even on the track at all (why don't they fucking put some kerbs on there to discourage that shit????)
>>
>>77207484

Great Britain is honestly bordering on third world tier when it comes to housing.

I never thought much of Finnish houses and build quality, but the more I travel and the more I hear stories, houses are fucking terrible everywhere outside from Northern Europe. So many English houses would straight up be condemned and closed off here because of all the mold and water damage.

A Finnish friend I know is living in Australia and he has to sleep in full sweatpants and sweatshirt at night in the ""winter"" because the houses are so poorly insulated. I wear shorts indoors at home regardless of time of year because the temperature indoors is always the same, give or take 3-4 celcius.

Brands Hatch because its a fun track and it would atleast be a sort of outlier in the sort of tracks F1 goes to. Maybe this isn't the best thing in real life entertainment-wise but I just really want to see a modern f1 car take those corners.

Watkins Glen in it's current layout. The current layout could easily be maintained if FIA didn't go crazy on the safety. Just put non-metal guardrails like they have on all tracks now and MAYBE put some FIA approved tarmac runoff. And even then, you could simply move the barriers further away from the track. Granted I doubt WG has anywhere close to the sort of funds to make this happen or to upgrade the facilites to a Grade 1, but a man can dream. The track in itself is fantastic to say the least. Location is nowhere near optimal though. especially now that Formula E had their New York spectacle and whatnot, normal people aren't going to want to travel that far.

Mercedes, possible because who knows
Mercedes's teams, I'm not sure about how strong is the connection with Mercedes so it's possible they made a choice despite Mercedes's one
Ferrari, Haas would have followed
Red Bull, Toro Rosso would have followed
McLaren and Sauber, not likely because they were both involved in incidents where Halo would have caused more porblems, plus they don't want to make enemies in the paddock.
Renault, free enough to make a personal choice without link strong enough to force clients to do the same

>lets make this ""sport"" where dudes get paid more annually than the average person in a first world country gets paid in a lifetime, where they race the undisputed fastest cars on track ever created so safe that they literally cannot even injure themselves in the process

What the fuck.

Look I'm not saying "drivers should die ebin :DDD" but what the fuck, these dudes get paid like tens of millions a year, they enjoy the living shit out of their job. There was ONE DEATH in the past fucking two decades which was more attributable to race control "misjudgment", abhorrent conditions, driver error, driver disregard for rules, track marshall retartedness and a bunch of other factors. Why fuck up the aesthetic pleasure of the cars for this?

Charlie Whiting should have been sacked on the spot at Japan. We all know why he wasn't. Apparently not retiring a grey-haired millionaire is more important than preserving the sport itself.

Its also odd that you never hear ANY comment on how fucking stupid it was to put a tractor on the track in that fucking corner in Suzuka? Those dudes probably work Suzuka every other weekend or some shit, I'm sure theyre aware that it's not a smart place to put a tractor.

Why not set up this rule: Speed under double yellows equals instant race ban. No Bianchi deaths. No Halo nigger shit, fuck I am so mad at FIA for being FAGGOTS INSPECTING ANUSES

The FIA safetycucks tired the same shit before using Massa's lolfacespring and Surtess Jr's lolwheelhead as their argument.

Luckily people who aren't retarded managed to stop them that time.

>>
>>77210764
You're right. Although the yellow flag rules kind of made a situation like that more likely and I find it hard to blame the driver. They forced drivers to balance going slow enough to not get penalised for going too fast under yellows with not going so slow that they lose out once they get to the green flags in the next sector. That, bianchi getting that balance wrong, the conditions, and tractor cunt all came together to cause an accident that, while possible to describe a freak, was probably avoidable.

I'd argue that VSC has gone a long way to minimising the risk of something like that again. Probably a change to marshalling (relying on volunteers in a sport with as much money sloshing around as f1 just seems unbelievably Jewish) including the use of tractor cunt wouldn't go amiss.

Still no need for a halo
>>

>Alonso-Renault
I doubt it, because Renault had been facing budget cuts through 2005-early '06. It's why Flav recommended Alonso sign with McLaren. The downsizing of the team, coupled with the departure of the Michelins (which the Renault was the best at utilizing by '06) meant the car wasn't as competitive.

>Schumacher-Benetton '96

This one is harder to judge. Rory Byrne was still there for '96, as was Brawn. Had that team stayed there instead of moving to Ferrari, Benetton would have been better than Ferrari for sure. But, with the smaller budget and lack of privately owned test track, I'm not so sure they could've competed with Newey in the long run. Benetton essentially won those two titles because they did better with the new regulations of '94, much like Red Bull jumped up the grid in 2009. But in the long run, I suspect McLaren and Williams might have ended up out-developing them, especially if Byrne retired at the end of '96 as he'd planned

Wrong. The closer you get to London the shittier everything is, because London.
>>

We'll know soon enough. The other teams will whine about it, probably next grand prix.
>>
The other 9 teams should jsut show up to Australia (and the next races) without HALO and see what Jean Frogmidget does then.
Have two cars race the whole season? Top kek.

They did Indy 2005 with just 6 cars, so I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed through with an Australian GP with just 2. Then they'd start a massive PR campaign on how the halo is safer and prevents deaths, making the teams look like the bad guys, and you'd see some show up to the second race with a halo. Rinse and repeat until everyone is racing.

that would be ok, at least you would then not be able to see the halo from the on-board then
