Is Texas Hold e'em /sp/ related?

Played somewhat serious online. Made between 300 - 600€ for a few months.
The problem is that getting good at online poker means sucking all the fun out of it since you are mechanically milking fish all the time.
Now playing on a real table in a casino or with your buddies is a lot of fun, but online sucks after a while. You just do the same things over and over again. The guys on your level are all TAGs (as well as you are) and fish are just poor noobs.

Good times
I dealt poker for 2 years which was mildly entertaining and interesting to see the different between 3/6 limit and 5/10 & 80/160 Limit. Saw the same degens every day it got kind of sad after while.
I play but stick to 1/2 & 1/3 games and low buyin MTTs since I don't have a huge bankroll to play with. Am in the middle of a downswing now but am still profitable for the year. Only advice I'd give from dealing is don't play anything less than 15/30 Limit, lowstakes limit games are just bingo and not even poker.
how is this a sport

I agree completely. I had a month off of work so I decided to grind online. I played 80 hours a week basically doing nothing but playing all month. After I was done I did the math (I kept a giant spreadsheet of data for every game I played) and found out I'd averaged $3.50 an hour. It was an interesting bout of autism but I'd hate to do that forever and I could only imagine what that would do to your body

Grinding in live games in much easier. You get out of your house, you get comped beverages, and you meet and have conversations with strangers who share your interests. Online poker is NEET hell, and like poker is a social experience.
The disadvantage is, of course, there's alot less money in live poker due to much less hands per hour.
Like alot of Vegas residents, I'm a semi-pro: poker is a substantial part of my income, but not enough to sustain me full-time unless I want to play 12 hours a day.
But I can't complain. I actually make a profit on my hobby. How many other people can say the same?

Well obviously you weren't making much money if you were just starting out. The point is to build your bankroll so you play at progressively higher stakes.

>so you play at progressively higher stakes
Which leads to Peter Principle trouble.
