And last year Riccy was still better than Max during the time they were team mates.
I just feel like at some point these unseen failures aren't actually the car, did max have a bad clutch before or after the crash? Did he have a bad clutch during qualy? Was it bad during FP3? Seems convenient to say something that broke post crash was the reason he was back so far to have a crash.
>>77046341
Reminds me a lot of the '''''''clutch issues''''''' he had for over a month or so last season, when he had all those wobbler tier starts. Most noteworthy being Spa.

That's just not true. The RB had no chance against the Merc in Canada, and he was going to be overtaken by Bottas sooner rather than later. And with RIC's consistency I wouldn't be surprised if he was able to challenge Max by the end of the race.
>>77046907

that's 15 + 15 + 25 + 10 (= 65) for all his DNFs (except for Bahrain because Ricciardo had on in Australia) which means he'd have 110 points, Ricciardo has 107 now
HOWEVER one would additionally also have to substract those points Ricciardo gained in through VER's retirements as well

I... never said this. I just dispute the claim that Verstappen would be ahead of Ricciardo if it wasn't for some supposed bad luck. The guy had a few good race starts an retired right after. It doesn't mean he would've finished on the podium all those times.
Case in point: Monaco. He was ahead of RIC on the first lap and still finished fifth while RIC got the podium. If Max had retired after the first lap you'd be crying about his supposed podium (or 4th place) in Monaco.
>>77047123

That was all a retarded strategy by RBR. Similar to how Ricc got fucked over by it in Spanish GP last year
>>77047423
Nice, so if it wasn't for RB screwing up their strategies Max wouldn't even be a race winner. Finally a Max fan admits that.
>>77047423
Max didn't lose the race from retarded RBR strategy. All the front runners pitted to cover off the undercut that was a threat. Vettel stayed out because he was setting purple laps, Riccy stayed out for a similar reason but short period of time. We have been through this several times, no team thought the overcut was the right move pre race.
From a guy on >Autosport
>According to Auto Hebdo paper version , Mercedes lost all in the interest in keeping Wehrlein at Sauber since they have Honda engines for 2018 and Renault would be more than happy to have a faster driver for the remainder of the 2017 season. Then for 2018 Ocon and Wehrlein would be exchanged
>Renault wants for 3 years Ocon but Mercedes are only ready to loan him for 2 years. Talks are expected to continue at Silverstone and to continue at Budapest
Sounds like rubbish desu.
>>77047484
Sounds like "McLaren are in talks with Mercedes for power units next season" level of true.
>>77047451
I never said that
>>77047464
actually Red bull stated that they didn't know which strategy would have worked better so they decided to split it before the race. Max's strategy didn't work out, while Ricc's did. So yeah Max did lose the race on strategy, not that it was a bad call from RBR. it just looked retarded in hindsight.

What do you mean by hybrid teams?
>>77047798
it's basically like wrestling but with cars and people think it's real

>>77047706
>post a comment with a link to Bottas start onboard showing the tyres moving before the lights went out
>he deletes it
>>77047999
That's how team names work. It is "team" - "power unit supplier"
Teams like Ferrari are a team and supplier their own power unit so are just Ferrari
>>77047999
Those are the engine suppliers. Each team makes their own cars but there are only 4 engine manufacturers; Honda, Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari.
Mercedes has their own "works team", and supply engines to Williams and Force India. Ferrari supply engines to Sauber and Haas. Renault supply engines to Toro Rosso and Red Bull. McLaren-Honda is Honda's works team and don't supply engines to anyone else right now, but Sauber will have Honda engines next year.
>>77048013
>>77048019
OK, that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up
Why is an energy drink company supplied by a clock making company then
>>77048060
RBR had a falling out with Renault so made a deal where they have a different badge on their engine. It's a Renault under a different name.
Another example of this is Mercedes is actually Mercedes-AMG iirc even though their performance road car division has nothing to do with the F1 team
>>77048060
>Why is an energy drink company supplied by a clock making company then
Red Bull were slagging Renault off in 2015 and calling them shit. Renault let RB keep their engines but got TAG Heuer to pay them lots of money to name the engine instead, that way Renault didn't get bad publicity from RB slagging them off in public
>>77047999
Teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault are "factory" teams. However those teams also supply their engine to other teams as well. Factory teams are also usually way better performing then the other teams that buy their engines, because they tend to have bigger budgets. Although there are many teams in the past that have performed well even though they don't supply their own engines. Good example is Red Bull from the recent years
>>77048129

Come here between races for some decent discussion, name calling and shitposting. Some times you get some keks.
Practice threads are boring because only faggots watch the practices. Qualy threads are fun, filled with happenings and memes. Race threads are Qualy threads on steroids. If you wanna watch races, Australia, Canada, Baku, Hungary, Singapore, Japan, USA and Mexico usually deliver fun races.
Everybody expected Stroll to be complete shit and he was in the first few races but now he's scored 3 straight races in the points (one of them a top 3 finish).
And don't believe the anon that said there's no competition. This year is Ferrari vs. Mercedes, and even though the rest of the teams can't compete with them to win the Championship, they compete between themselves for points. So It's quite interesting watching Toro Rosso, Haas, Renault and Williams killing each other and watching Force India challenging Red Bull some times.

Magnussen has a two year contract with Haas.
The whole field relies on what happens to Gimi.
If he retires or isn't offered a contract, I could see Grosjean moving to Ferrari, with Leclerc at Haas over Giovinazzi. I doubt Kvyat will be in F1 after this year so Sainz and Gasly at TR.
If Massa fucks off, maybe Alonso would move to Williams.

Yeah, it was really bad and lawsuits started flying every direction after it happened.

Yeah I can see that happen

Does Joe have the autism?
>>77062402
Yes, the Hamilton debacle revealed what an autistic cunt he is.
>>77061612
2018 would be a good year to go across the pond given they'll have a halfway decent looking car.
>>77062450
He's always been incredibly spiteful towards Ferrari, seems convinced they're the embodiment of evil

>Bad
Are you fucking gay or something?
>>77062794
Losing Silverstone would be terrible for F1, imo. Just like Monza or Suzuka.
>>77062907
Silverstone has been butchered so much over the last 20 years I don't think anybody would miss it
>>77062940
This 2bh
>>77062940
the current layout is unironically the best one the circuit has had
>>77063005
basically all drivers disagree
>>77062940
I disagree, still, not only does it have a heavy name in the sport's history, it'll just end up being replaced by a shitty city circuit.
We need to have more traditional European tracks on the calendar.
>>77063005
Fucking idiot.
I bet you think Hockenheim is better now too.
>>77062402
You decide.
>>77063052
wow, what a good layout

>>77063079
This one cracks me up. Christian Sylt btfo, kek.
>>77063085
I just love this track, there's no good passing zones and it reminds me of my favorite Tilkedrome.
>>77063136
Your pic isn't the actual layout
The pre-2010 layout was far worse for overtaking
>>77063156
1991 was the best. Abbey and Bridge were god tier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd-qW-pY9Hc
>>77063156
Silverstone took the bogpill
>>77063208
current Stowe-Club are better 2bh
>>77063156
The best passing zones come from long straights with hard breaking zones at the end.
There's almost no areas like that in the present track, the straights aren't long enough.
The 91-93 track was the better layout.
>>77063241
Aintree to Brooklands and Chapel to Stowe are long enough to pass on
>>77063250
Post examples.

the proposed layout
>>77064320
It's in the absolute centrum of Copenhagen, it's going right past our Parliament building. After that there's a long straight stretch, going over a bridge.
Discuss:
Award the WDC & WCC only every four years, the rules can change in every single one of the "rounds", except from the number of races & points, obviously. Maybe it'll work against a single team ruling a season.
>>77064883
shit tier
>>77064883
Make a season last two years, no track hosts twice. Allow a mid season winter development period.

Can't agree more, I want Imola, Hockenheim and Nürburgring back so badly.
Why is he so shit
>>77063266
goat film
Liberty should make their 25 race calendar adding Denmark, Imola, New Jersey and another meme track, make Monaco, Spa, Silverstone, Suzuka and Monza some sort of untouchable GPs, advertise them like some sort of legendary historic races bullshit like Indy 500 or Le Mans and probably make the races last a bit more, like 2 hours or 2 1/2 hours, and give double points for them. The calendar would be divided in 5 parts each with 5 races, one of them one of the "BIG FIVE OF FORMULA 1®" or some shit like that. Also make the grid bigger and add like 5 more meme teams.
That would be cool
>>77066352
also switch Abu Dhabi with Brazil.

I hope Paul Ricard doesn't use the chicane on the Mistral Straight, it would be hilarious to see them 50km/h down on the next car

Algarve is a based track, and so is Estoril. Too bad we have no money to bring F1 back.
>>77069252
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-portugal-talks-return-algarve-914813/
They're talking about bringing F1 to Portimao, dunno whether it'll actually happen though
>>77068316
Valtteri Bott-sass
>>77069252
I like Algarve because of the elevation changes, but other than that it's a typical modern track, and not suited for F1 cars IMO. Estoril on the other hand is god tier.
>>77069312
Sounds like the news about a return of the Argentina GP lol
>>77065963
Wider or literally puffier?
>>77063005
no. it's so unnecessarily slow through the new section.
I also don't like how they moved the pit straight. The cars snaking through maggots and becketts on the opening lap was one of my favourite sights in F1
