Corvettes are a proven platform, they don't win much these years but they're reliable and competitive, Chevrolet doesn't need a huge investment since they have a solid base.
The Ford GT is a huge gamble and incredibly expensive project that a smaller company like Chrysler cannot match.

Why fuck yourself over? They have no reason to burn money on the WEC with such competition. They'd have to match Ford and that's a big goal to set.

Yup. It's one of the highlights of these 24h races. It's also a shame they they don't race at the Nurburgring 24h race as well.
