>“Currently, Denver has 10 starting players on its roster with a $5 million per year or more cap charge, and 28 players above $1 million,” Lombardi writes. “They have only four backups making more than a million—which includes Donald Stephenson, a free agent last year who started initially at right tackle before being benched during the year, and Jamaal Charles, who signed a nonguaranteed, incentive-based contract that could earn him $2.5 million this year.

>“By bringing Manning to Denver, the Broncos copied Bill Polian’s Indianapolis Colts spending model: rely on a few elite players with expensive contracts and fill in the rest with draft choices. Once Manning left Indy, we saw how badly this method worked for the Colts. History is repeating itself.”

I thought that full lime green colour was going to look stupid, but when they're swarming your team that colour makes it even more terrifying.
>>
>>76587221

There's a lot of projection with the Falcons. If it was a video game then they're stacked since there should be no reason for an offensive drop off plus the young players on defence should improve and get better being another year experienced.

But it's highly unlikely the offence remains in the same stratosphere as last year unless they're this generation's GSOT. Some of the young defensive players will not improve or struggle next year or some of the vets may have down years.

There's six teams that'll beat Denver, either with powerful running games that'll shit on the broncos' ass run D (DAL, OAK, MIA) or with defenses that'll completely lock down their awful offense (NYG, KC, NE)

>>
>>76595893
Ok that's alright because I'm not a broncos fan
>>
>>76594764

Last season was a fluke from Gaiders. Lynch will take atleast 5 or 6 games to even get going and Carr is made of glass. Paxton has been working on his accuracy and with that Cannon arm of his, DT and Sanders will be a force to be reckoned with this year. CJ Anderson will be like a new player. We will simply outscore teams and our ass run D won't mean shit. Cap it.
>>
>>76590731
You have to account for teams catching up to their offense too.
>>
>>76588009
When you say y'all that implies fans. You linked to some retarded hack clickbait. It would never occur to a normal person to make a comparison like that. That's like when you and your faggot friends debate Star Trek vs. Star Wars

Le incentives meme
This needs to stop it is bad for players
>>
>>76598573
how?

you do a good job and you make more money

perfectly fair
>>
>>76598573
maybe it's bad for bad players, but for non-scrubs it's great
>>
>>76598698
Most players never reach the incentive laden part. It's pretty agreed on that the NFL PA is easily the worst out of all the sports. Incentive heavy contracts are one of the reasons
>>
>>76598698
Now contracts will be structured in a way they weren't before
Gms can hold performance in over their head in previous systems let's say a 800yard receiver could ask for 5 million a year even if they have injury issues and shit
Now, there will be like 3 million + 3 million in incentives still getting 6 but now the player can get fucked over
Think of it as less than guaranteed money
Players benefit from guaranteed money owners GM's hate it
Other way around, players don't benefit from variable payday, GMs and owners do
This is from a contract value standpoint

In related news

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000816079/article/ryan-shazier-wants-cba-changes-for-rookie-deals
This needs to be implemented
Players like Odell or Zach Martin who come out swinging all pro and are stuck on their pansy ass 4 year $10 million contract plus 10 for the 5th year option is so shit for the player.

Maybe let players who have been to x amount of probowls renegotiate their rookie deal

Peyton, Rodgers or Brees would have at least 3 rings if they had beli for 16~ years

maybe Peyton would fuck it up somehow but Brees and Rodgers have been pretty consistent in the playoffs

>muh clutch and narratives
don't get me wrong, what Brady did was amazing but playing great for 4 qrts is just as effective. in fact it's much better because you don't have to rely on things happening that are out of your control as a QB.
thankfully for Brady he is one of the games if not the games most consistent QB and safest.

on a side not Rodgers had almost identical points/possession in the 2nd half @atlanta as Brady did in LI.
maybe that's just garbage-time numbers because while the Patriots blanked Atlanta for almost 30 minutes the Packers defense wasn't able to get a stop until the last 2 minutes which the packers backup played because the game was already lost.

another note from an intoxicated rodgersfag: Rodgers has thrown one pick-six in his career. it was on a pass tipped by his receiver and it's the only time sneak has seen Rodgers play. he set the record for most passes attempted without a pick-six like 2 years ago and going strong.

There hasn't been a single decent QB entering tge league since Ryan got drafted back in 2008. QB talent is watering down at the speed of light and this will be even more obvious once Brady, Brees and Rodgers retire.

Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson have done very well

it's retarded to say anything good or bad about anyone drafted 2014 and beyond since their career is so young but a few of them definitely look promising.

The only once in a lifetime quarterback of this gen is Brady, there will always be someone else to fill the void, and the passing stats keep going up each year, even in seasons where there were no rule changes.

>>
>>76623091
man I agree with you that the term is used loosely but I truly feel like Russell Wilson is the most underrated quarterback in a long time.

He's been absurdly consistent, has never missed a start, has astounding efficiency numbers. IMO he put up mvp type numbers in 2015. I know he's had the elite defense his whole career but winning a playoff game every season of your career is still really impressive.

I actually did a little look at this number wise

Made a table of every qb who started a minimum of 40 games from 2012-2016

Out of 26 Qualifiers

Wilson is 5th in TD %
7th in Int%
4th in Passer Rating
1st in Yards Per Attempt
Second in Wins

Mostly just hofers ahead of him on most of the stats
>>
Reminder that outside of Russel Wilson, the most any of the young QBs have done in the playoffs was a semi-decent performance by Dak in a loss to the Packers last year.

None of them have even won a single playoff game.
>>
Can someone, preferably not a Bucs/FSU fan, tell me what's so great about Jameis Winston? After two years I see shitty stats and no playoff seasons and whenever I watch him he doesn't impress me with any aspect of his play despite being surrounded by some solid talent. I literally cannot comprehend the hype, I understand what people see in Carr etc but with Winston there's just nothing there.

it's the thrill of winning, just winning alone, no matter how inconsequential and frivolous the game may be. you guys know what i mean?

i mean, i'm looking ahead to next season against the bears and i don't even care. it's already another win in my mind. i'm not crowding my mind with pointless projections for exactly how the Falcons are going to btfo of a stupidly named team and their meme dlman (Chicago Bears though? really). i'm thinking big picture: playoffs, superbowls, and dynasties.

not if, but when

and only "how" when asking "how many"

old me would be salivating at the mere prospect of keeping the game close and not getting humiliated. present me doesn't even consider the Bears, and most other teams in the league desu, a worthy foe for the Falcons

Last year, Quinn, the players, fans, and everyone was going crazy just because they narrowly beat a sloppy Packers team

a win? just dump it among the rest. find a spot.

nothing

Saints look pretty stacked offensively and it's projection but they look like they shored up some weak spots on defence with Marshon Lattimore, Marcus Williams and Anzalone in the draft. AJ Klein is a solid LB they signed too.

The decision with Nick Fairley is going to have a big impact on the level of the defence.

there was no hangover. It's just that they weren't as good as 15-1 made them seem. They had a harder schedule in 2016, and many of the things that made them good in 2015 didn't return. If there was any hangover it was just Cam being lazy after a great season. I hate vague reasons like this when people make predictions

Yeah to compensate for our shit run blocking

Really hope Wagner and Lang can improve that this year. The moment Staffords finger got busted last season the team was toast.

>your team
ravens

>favorite player on your team
t sizzle, followed closely by eric weddle and justin tucker

>how you think your team did in free agency and the draft this offseason
draft was solid, really like that the ravens are embracing defense first. front office realized that were not going to be smoking anyone in a shootout, so we need to hold onto the ball as long as possible. in terms of free agency, picking up maclin and woodhead was awesome, and i love the added depth in the secondary, but im not sold on this team being able to put up enough points to get to the playoffs

>your expectations for this season
optimistically 10-6, but probably 9-7 with hopes of the 6th seed

>game you're most excited for this season
week 17 against the bengals because itll probably come down to that

eric weddle, justin tucker, marshall yanda

>how you think your team did in free agency and the draft this offseason
Well, they came off doing a giant splurge in the previous off season, so in terms of free agency, it's still good because of Marshall. In the draft, I like Evan Engram I do and I think he's gonna be great, but sweet christ, we needed a LT and the fact that we didn't take any in the first 3 rounds and we took Davis Webb when the QB class next year is gonna be swimming with great talent in all 3 round is retarded. Maybe he will be come something good, but we don't know yet.

>your expectations for this season
10-6 to 12-4

The fucking Seahawks, I'm sick and tired of losing to them in embarrassing fashion. This is our time to beat them

>pick three players who you believe will make the pro bowl this year from your team
Odell Beckahm, obviously
Landon Collins
and here's a wild card pick, Sterling Shepard

>team in the league other than yours that you believe is on the come up to be a serious playoff contender in the next several years
Titans, great O-line, great running game, Mariota looks like he's the next big thing and a defense that's good. All they need to do is get Mariota some WRs and get some more secondary help and they will be a force.
>>
>>76646001
last year it was the intentional holding to end the game on a safety, followed by an intentional tanking for draft position. 1/2 the time their shitty games, but i think it could come down to week 17 for either of us to get a wc spot

Yep. Asian-American dude had a band called "The Slants". Gov't wouldn't allow them to trademark the name because of a clause in the Lanham Act which allows them to deny trademarks that could be considered disparaging.

Redskins lost their trademark because some activists convinced the gov't that it was disparaging. Redskins sued the activists but lost.

AA dude (essentially) sued the Trademark Office, saying it was a violation of the First Amendment. Superior Court just ruled in his favor.

Pretty great. more RBs than they know what to do with and Cooks should stretch the field. Gilmore and Butler could arguably be the best cornerback duo in da lee. the new pass rush guys on the D just have to mediocre and it will be an improvement (ranked 24th last season)
