>Your fellow countryman thinks Seb had a moral obligation to let Kimi past because he was pretty fast the day before the race.
No I think Ferrari should have supported the guy who won qualifying, just like Mercedes have done throughout this season. It would have been nice to see - and you know that if Vettel was the guy who had won pole in Monaco, then they wouldn't have screwed up his strategy like that.

Qualifying has nothing to do with the race other than start position. If Kimi fucked his start would Ferrari still back him to beat Vettel?
You are still retarded.

The only thing Ferrari did for Kimi's strategy is give him track position stopping the undercut which was the recognised threat. And at that point in the race Mercedes were sure and I'm sure Ferrari were happy that that was enough to win the race for Kimi.

Then enter the faster driver being able to drive fast.

Just wanting to clarify again that you think a slower driver at a critical point in the race should have won because he was ever so slightly faster the day before the race.

You are retarded.

No I think the team should support the driver who's earned the lead of the race - that's what teams usually do, and if it was Seb who had been leading then I don't think they would have done the strategy the same way.

>I don't think
Correct you don't.

Vettel was faster, Vettel won, that's called racing.
Vettel literally drove faster than simulations from Mercedes thought he would go at that point in the race. Vettel literally defied all the simulation power Mercedes has to come out of the pits first when he was still predicted to come 2nd after those crazy fast laps.

I don't see any situation where without sabotaging Vettel's crazy fast pace Kimi wins in Monaco.

So what you are saying is teams should sabotage their faster driver so a slower one can win?

That's one of the things I find so funny about people saying "Vettel only won because muh team orders".
There is literally no scenario where Kimi wins unless the team deliberately cucks Vettel.

It's just stereotypical "team orders are good when they help muh driver, but bad when they don't" plebbery.

Its not even team orders. Look at the radio logs. No >Vettel is faster than you confirm Vettel faster than you. They don't even give Vettel any more warning of a pit or his strategy than they do Kimi. There is no observed favouritism at all.

Vettel was faster, it really is that simple. If Vettel was 0.5s slower it would have failed, that doesn't sound like Ferrari grand strategy manipulation to me. It relies way too much on Vettel to go way faster than Kimi to work, in which case Vettel is the faster driver and deserves to win anyway.
>>

By prove wrong I mean shit like when he recently ranted about Perez being classified as a finisher in Austria last year despite not finishing the race was <insert sperg out here> because it means he can still break Heidfeld's record for consecutive finishes despite not finishing a race.

Oldfag here, I lost interest in F1 back in 2014. How are you guys enjoying things recently, specifically:

Is there any future for Honda or should they commit sudoku?

The new cars are cool to look at and very fast. Overtaking is harder now though. Ferrari and Mercedes are so far ahead of the rest it's not even funny but at least they are on par.

Judging Bottas needs some time yet I think, so far it's 3-3 in qualifying and one PU failure for Bottas. If anyone can beat Vettel this season it's Hamilton though.

There's no hope for Honda.

>understanding context

In 05 he was the youngest driver ever to win a WDC doing so against one of the greatest drivers. Backed it up in 06. This could have been the start of a great career one which would rival that of Schumacher's.

07 Hamilton came out of nowhere and Ron Benis clearly favoured him. Admittedly he did some stupid shit this year.

In 08/09 choose Renault over Red Bull

Time at Ferrari and he was dragging a dog of a car into a position to contend for a title. Couldn't match Vettel in a superior car and had added pressure of being closer to a kamikaze Grosjean.

As far as formula 1 drivers go Alonso was unlucky. If not maybe stupid. Either way he should have more than just 2 WDCs and all the paella he can eat

Had he not been Grosjeaned at Spa, I suspect he would have had at least one more WDC- one at Ferrari, at that.

and if vettel hadn't had alternator issues in valencia and monza, alonso wouldn't even have had a chance

same in 2010, to an even greater degree.

people forget that about mr alonso. for all his "six points away from being a 5x wdc" claptrap, he had as much, if not more luck as his competitors
>>
>>76370801
This could be an argument if they would have driven equally fast cars, but they weren't.
Vettel and Hamilton had teammates who were driving in top positions often as well, Alonso's teammate was nowhere there most of the time, which suggests that the Ferrari was worse and Alonso made the difference.

Yes staying at McLaren is a much more logical move than Williams. McLaren have one of the largest budgets in the sport. Pic is 2015.

If Honda sort the fucking engine, McLaren have the chassis to compete at the front. But Williams will NEVER have the chassis to compete at the front, due to lack of budget. They'd need to be bought by a big manufacturer again.

Question brosephs - how long will F1 ride the whole hybrid train for? Think about it, in years to come, petrol engines in road cars will just become generators for their batteries (the BMW i8 is essentially like this already) - then they'll disappear altogether, replaced by full electric vehicles.

So will F1 follow this, and transition to full electric? But there's already Formula E for that - so surely at some point F1 has to decide whether it also wants to be a full electric series (just faster) or whether to ditch the hybrid stuff and just run petrol engines?

Or if F1 does just stay with hybrids ad infinitum, do you think a rival petrol-engine series will emerge? Something which is just about the entertainment of watching petrol-powered single-seaters screaming their way around a race track.
>>
>>76378984
F1 and FE will intertwine like WEC
first itll be 20 F1 and 6 FE
then 16 and 8
then 12 and 10
then 8 and 14
then F1 cars get dropped due to low approval and the grid is all electric
screenshot this
>>
>>76378984
why do motorsports need to follow emissions or developments of consumer cars at all?

Its entertainment, its about the flash of sound and color, theres no point to even having the hybrids because it diminishes the spectacle of the 14k redline screaming engines.

F1 should ban electric technology if they are smart but siince its run by fucking no fun allowed retards it'll slowly die with electric shit
>>
>>76378984
No too long. Fully petrol F1 soon I'd guess, since electric will be the norm and why not go full oldschool when you're at it.

He hasn't earned points in feeder series in the past 3 years, didn't had the superlicense in the previous 3 years. Actually, as far as I remember, the rules define a 'current car' as anything younger than 2 years old. They're allowed to test cars that are over two years old.

2016 should count, by that definition. However, due to the same testing rules, he's not allowed to.

IIRC it's why Vettel drove the F2012 in December 2014, even though new regs had come in in 2014, making the 2013 car not 'current' as per technical regs.

No, it was not a one-off test. There's no point to test with 2012 car, unless there's need to evaluate drivers or give them that 300km Super Licence mileage.

Germans have numerous drivers they can support.

We have only one driver, and he's Bestern Australian, so there's even less reason to dislike him.
>>
>>76386352
> But it 99.99% won't

How many times do we have to say this?

>he's been driving the simulator for both Renault and Mercedes in the past few years
>he's been training like crazy for the past few months
>he tested the GP3 car at that specific circuit to see if he could finally turn the car properly in hairpins - turns out he can
>that led to this F1 test with Renault
>he's said that he wouldn't step back into an F1 car unless there was a concrete chance to come back
>that's why he turned to a test with Mercedes just last year - he said he didn't want to do just one test, fall in love with F1 driving again and then live with the pain of knowing that he could never do it again
>the test went exceptionally well

They are 100% lining him up for a comeback this year. Just watch him test a Renault F1 hybrid car later this month.

seriously though, how can you possibly dislike Ricciardo?

He's a quick driver, proven to be able to waltz into a new team and take the established 4x WDC to the cleaners, isn't a negro and manages to be cheeky and exudes confidence without being an arrogant wanker.

Of course it's ballsy. You're not gonna pass someone at mirabeau without shoving the other car out of the way.

Arrogance is Hulk's see ya later remark and Hamilel's remarks on the state of indycar's drivers after alo's antics.
>>
>>76388937

Even pitting without telling your mechanics you will is ballsy?

>Of course it's ballsy. You're not gonna pass someone at mirabeau without shoving the other car out of the way.

>conveniently ignores the fact that he called Kimi an asshole for defending his position

Kimi has the position far and square, Ricciardo cheats and takes it off him.
Then Ricciardo calls Kimi an asshole. He literally calls Kimi an asshole for having something that he wanted and not just giving it to him.
You couldn't find a better example of arrogant entitlement.
And arrogance and entitlement are both huge Chad traits.
