People need to keep in mind NFL teams invest millions of dollars doing research into these prospects as each of them has the power to sink or float a franchise for a decade. They have info on these guys so detailed it puts wallstreet futures managers to shame.

Does Belichick have the future GOAT waiting in the wings, or is he just driving up the price insanely high until some panicking GM offers a king's ransom for him, like Sam Bradford last year?

Mahomes has a high ceiling, and with coaching he could become a superstar.

Alex Smith is a game manager and a placeholder without an aggressive bone in his body. We will never win a championship with Smith under center. This year will play out and next year Mahomes will take over after learning the system.

This draft is coming along so well. I'll be sad when we get to pick 72 all of the sudden the bandwagon will arrive to shitpost about how every player is the best at his position because the Patriots took him and things will be back to normal.

But for now, this is top comfy.

Browns and Niners are exceeding expectations. Bears probably made one of the worst moves and picks as of now.
Patriots, Packers, and Seahawks has no 1st rd picks. For some reason the Packersfans and Seahawks thinks this means they are getting waffles. The Patriots always draft 2nd-6th rounders so assume they have a B+ Grade.

A lot of times when guys my age and even myself, you almost forget what you have in you when you’re down for so long, you know? It’s easy to stray certain ways and do certain things that you’re not supposed to do, but at the same time I knew what got me to the point I was at. So I stuck to that even through my injury and I made sure that I wasn’t just helping myself out by getting back right, but also helping my teammates and that made the process go by a lot smoother. And throughout the offseason I was very eager to get back to work to better myself to build my body and show the coaching staffs across the country that, ‘Hey, I’m a guy that I haven’t lost a step. I’m still the same guy that you all see on film.’ It was a very challenging process. It was something that I really had to battle myself with and just make sure that I took it one day at a time. And being able to really just push myself to the end and get to the point where I am now is just a testament to the people who raised me, the way I pushed myself the last four years.”

This season is the big one for Oakland, the defense is quick to the ball and WILL sack your QB, the DBs have gotten better, David Amerson will be a young, lock down corner, T.J. Carrie will be snatching passes out of the air, Karl Joseph will absolutely fuck your shit up, with a pick, strip, sack or even a hard hit, Gareon Conley will be an underrated playmaker and lock up the deep passes. Khalil Mack will be the next hybrid of LT and Howie Long, he will NOT be blocked, Ward has a great skillset for a young player, with the tutelage of Bruce Irvin, Denico Autry will be the next Greg Townsend, Aldon Smith will join a fierce and quick LB corp, joining the former Redskin Perry Riley Jr., young stud Ben Heeney, and hard hitting Cory James. Justin Ellis is the anchor of front 7 and help neutralize anything over the middle, you can't run on this team's line for more than a yard. The 2017 offense will be a high octane force to be reckoned with, young upstart Derek Carr has found his groove and is starting to be recognized with his play against tough defenses and his ability to read said defenses, Marshawn Lynch is a nice blend of power and speed, Jalen Richard is a dangerously fast and elusive back, a formidable 1-2 punch for the rush, then you see the pinball scat back DeAndre Washington, Cook the speedy, solid TE, and Olwale, a FB, can flat out fly down field. Amari Cooper has certainly shown what he can do, he's fast, sturdy and can burn anyone who blinks when they cover him, Michael Crabtree brings his blend of talent and experience to Raiders' receiving corps, Grabtree can go out and bring anything in for the TD, Clive Walford is another young, high potential receiver, he encompasses the vertical game perfectly, you'd best double cover him and with offense lighting up the boards, we come to the o-line, anchored by Hudson, this offensive line will give any d-line fits!

"Tragedy has struck the NFL today, as Garrett Bolles, the first round draft pick of the Denver Broncos was found dead in his new home. Police say the cause of death for the promising young 25 year old, was a drug overdose. Bolles had claimed he overcame is drug use as a young man and was even a motivational speaker. I was pretty meh about it at first but I've come around. A first next year would be low and we had an extra third to burn. There's also a good amount of defensive talent in this draft so I'm not too concerned about finding someone to pair up with Peters or someone to ease the workload on DJ. Basically the value was fine for me. From a mechanical and talent standpoint the air raid concerns seem overblown as well. This kid knows how to make reads and adjustments better than any air raid babby and with Reid I'm confident he can work out the kinks with his footwork. Overall I like it.

They still have Seth DeValve, Randall Telfer, and Conner Hammlet. Njouku is a big playmaker. Barnidge' production fell in half. He's an older player (31 and he will be 32 after the season starts). The whole plan all along is just as I said months ago.
Baseball stratagem.
Fill the roster with young talent via draft and free agency. Hedge veterans to trade for more cap space or draft capital. Develop those players over year 1. Weed out the non performers or bad eggs. Retool the roster with more young high end talent in year 2. Weed out more veterans. Year 3, have established roster with some impact players, and win. Keep roster together and add talent through the draft in subsequent years.

The old NFL philosophy says just fill in the gaps with high end veterans and a 1st or 2nd round pick. The Browns tried that with 8 or 9 different front offices. The results always the same: shit.
The new way of thinking looks at the roster as fluid, and in a state of flux. Yeah, you might have a solid 32 year old DT, but if you can add one of the top rookie DTs, draft the rookie, deal the veteran. Build for the future. Then, once the roster is established with young controllable talent, lock them in long term and go to a more traditional philosophy.

From all accounts, he was looked at as a veteran leader. It's just his age that bit him in the ass, I think.

>>75563378
Yeah, low production because they're only in their second year in the league.

Pryor would have stayed in Cleveland if he would have taken their first offer instead of letting Rosenhaus try to drive up his salary to beyond top WR money due to one good year and potential. I think he just pissed the Browns off.
Kenny Britt isn't a literally who. The guy has been a productive WR for about 5 years now, he just played for the Rams and nobody gave a shit. Corey Coleman can possibly have his breakout season. As a rookie last year he came out of the gate explosive until an injury sidelined him for 7 weeks. When he came
Back he was still nursing that broken hand a bit, and still did alright. As far as Louis, Higgins, and Peyton are concerned, they didn't even get a chance until late in the season, they're unpolished and were rookies. There's no telling what they'll amount to. Probably not much, in my opinion, but there's some pretty good talent there.

Eventually these young players will become veteran leaders. It's trial by fire.

Hard to have risk with a 1-15 record the previous year. The offense want even that bad, they were in pretty much every game they played, even had leads in the 4th Q. The defense always let them down. No, they're just washing their hands of every previous regime. The entire roster now is pretty much all their guys except for a handful. That's the weeding out process. I'll put it this way, you have an old house, needs a complete rebuild. It's rickety, falling apart, worn down. You have to tear it down to the base foundation. You don't keep a few walls or floors just because they look nice, at that point it doesn't matter, you already tore out everything else. Then you start from scratch.

Bury a football PR DePodesta
>>
>>75563834
Not really, Petrine and Farmer kept about 30 players from the Chud and Shurmer era. That's a bulk of the roster right there. It's nowhere near the same thing.
>>
>>75563869
They have a practice squad tier roster.

Not that I think that he's terrible at commenting, but it's awkward whenever Stanford players get drafted and he has to say something because he's inherently biased

But seriously, I'm not burying a football in my yard. I've got a couple groundhogs making fucking holes in my back yard anyway. They'd just dig it up, or my dog would, then I'd probably hit it with the tractor.
>>
Do you think the Bears will do worse than the Browns?
>>
>>75563930
Yes, the Browns should at least be 6-10 to 8-8
>>
>>75563925
And how would he know? It was a literal made up rumor that Saints wanted Mahomes, they were targetting defense no matter what.
>>
>>75563930
Browns Jets Tank Bowl for Darnold
>>
>>75563908
They're elite players who wouldn't be gone. Joe Thomas is a perfect example. Barnidge isn't elite. He had one good season, then fell off, and most of it was because Josh McCown only trusted Barnidge and not the lollipop guild WR corps.
>>
>>75563930
The Browns will be average or slightly below average, think around 7-9. The Bears are just pure shit right now, even the Jets are better.
>>
>>75561651
Barn dog being put to sleep
>>
>>75563930
>>75563930
Yes desu. I think the Browns will go 5-11 or 6-10

The Bears are gonna go like 2-14, the Jets are go 1-15 btw.
>>
>>75563944
That's too optimistic. I'm sticking with 6-10 as the high end, 2-14 at the low end.
>>
>>75563947
>He gets injured the say before and goes undrafted
>>
>>75563963
Alex Mack is an elite player by pretty much every standard you can think of. Barnidge isn't elite, but he was a solid pass catcher. Remember Hue's first interview in Cleveland when he immidiately compared Barnidge to Eifert, what about that now? And telling Gordon to fuck off after you're carrying him around for two seasons is nothing short of imbecility.
>>
Has anyone ever taken a look at the Bears offensive? My god it's awful. The only good offensive players they have is Kyle Long and Jordan Howard and Jordan Howard could be another Todd Gurley and be shit this season
>>
>>75563944
>>75563973

What's the biggest W/L differential between two consecutive seasons?

(as you can tell by my poorly worded question i am to dum to google this)
>>
>>75563982
Then someone picks him up for peanuts. Browns can draft Josh Allen and still get Darnold.

>>
>>75564013
Saints were a 3-13 team in 2005 and they went 10-6, won the division and went to the conference championship the next year.
>>
>>75564026
The polygraph test is not admissible in court, so of course that was gonna happen.
>>
>>75564006
Mack wanted out of Cleveland. He was pretty open about that. He thought Barnidge was as good as Eifert, but his 600 yard season said otherwise. Gordon wanted to be in Cleveland, but I see their point. The guy is one step away from being barred from the NFL for life. That's a high risk for a repeat offender.
>>
>>75564066
>Mack wanted out of Cleveland. He was pretty open about that.
So you slap a tag on him and then trade him to a contender. Not just let him walk for free. Then they did it again this year by not applying the tag to anyone, why?
>>
>>75563908
Watt is obviously a special case but Hopkins could definitely be a valuable trade piece if a new regime were to come in. He doesn't meet the speed requirements for some coaching staffs.
>>
>>75564039
>>75564043
>>75564057

so Browns 12-4 this season beats the record? interdasting (of course won't happen but it's not technically impossible)
>>
>>75564078
They couldn't tag him. Had an opt out clause built into his contract.
>>
>>75561004
EDP wants Reuben Foster.
>>
>>75564078
They got a 3rd round comp pick for him. I don't think they'd be able to get much more than that on the trade market
