It's literally the Brady show. That Bronco team last year sure turned to shit fast didn't it?
>>
>>74310363
Predicting the future is guesswork and the NFL is too volatile to make that guess. The Jaguars were widely regarded as a team with a bright future less than a year ago and the Colts were supposed to be perennial Super Bowl contenders after 2014

Right now, the AFC is better and no one has an idea which conference will be better in 3-4 years.

>>
>>74311511
first off elliot had over 1,600 yards, so it's little off to say it's the same production they got from Mcfadden, and elliot is going to be a top 5 back for them the next 5-8 years. Don't forget how good of a pass protector and pass catcher he is.

as good as ramsey is he didn't stop the jags from being shit so dont give me that he would have made more of an impact than Elliott.
>>
>>74311593
it's almost like the jaguars didn't improve in any other way but by getting ramsey, and the cowboys got the best rookie QB in the draft in addition to getting elliott

ramsey would have had a better impact in the cowboys than elliott did, that's just how it is. the jaguars were shit on both sides of the ball, whereas the cowboys already had the framework for a very good offense, they just upgraded the two most important positions.

>>
>>74311664
>ramsey would have had a better impact in the cowboys than elliott did

this is just speculation though, as good as dak played you can't deny having elliott made things a lot easier for him.

and having great coverage skills alone doesn't beat rodgers, the giants had a great secondary but still got picked apart.

the cowboys offense just didn't do enough early so they ran the ball much less than they wanted too.
>>
>>74310806
Luck is better, he just has a shit team and no elite defense or running back to ride to an owl.
>>
>>74311561
Lions have made the playoffs two out of three years since Caldwell became coach and managed to take a season where everyone wrote them off and ride it to nine wins and a wildcard. Lions are by no stretch elite but they're getting there at a frighteningly fast rate
>>
>>74311822
i'm not arguing that elliott isn't a fantastic player, but he was a luxury pick given the cowboys' circumstances. the upcoming draft is filled with guys who could run for 1300+ behind their monstrous o-line, whereas it's pretty hard to find a player like ramsey who can produce in a shit-tier secondary like the jags have.

and i'm not saying that ramsey would have single-handedly beaten rodgers. only that having him in the secondary instead of brandon carr or orlando scandrick would have had more of an impact.
>>
>>74311798

jags still have more cap space than they know what to do with though and it's not a guarantee albert would want to go to jacksonville on his own will.

they can afford to overpay a LT if it means they can protect bortles just a little bit better. it's a risk I know because the guy is injury prone and kinda declining but this tackle market and draft class is so shit they don't have a lot of good options.

rb isnt a high priority need but we need a lot so i dont really want to draft just by position need.

I'm not sure who I want yet 100% but Fournette is definitely one i'm most intrigued by. Forte and Powell aren't long term options and even by modern running back standards guys like Fournette just dont come up the pipe very often.

Dixman needed to hand the football to his halfback, eradicate the I-formation and work the passing advantage last time. Later tonight, if he can't get it to his left guard and go with the goal line formation, the game's as good as over. All coordination no momentum - downwind from his lineman and under fire at the 27 - he'd have been better splitting the hail mary and using the defensive advantage and then maybe they could have yielded to the trick play and checked the counter formation. I mean, talk about Rothovich - 9 for 48 this season - 4:15 on the clock and Barnkowski to his right - I think he'll play the receiving advantage and fork to the shotgun formation.

luck had a better season than ben in every single category except comp% despite not having a top 3 o-line, leveon bell, or antonio brown. i understand that people are responding to the ridiculous luck hype and i agree that he's not top 3 or whatever, but to pretend he's not top 10 is beyond ridiculous.

because ryan grigson was one of the worst GMs of all time? this is the dude who drafted philip dorsett in the first round when the only thing the colts don't need is more WRs.

seriously, take a look at the colts roster. their secondary is bottom 3 in the league, and their only good player in the front 7 is d'qwell jackson, who is 33. then you have their offense, which is pretty much luck, hilton, and old man gore.

it's not like the AFCS is the dumpster fire it's been in years past either. the texans have an extremely good defense, and the titans' smash mouth offense is on the rise. meanwhile luck has to go out there with 1 NFL-quality lineman and no defense.

Wins above replacement in the 2016 regular season as calculated by my super sophisticated formula

1. Matt Ryan: + 5.94
2. Tom Brady: + 4.49
3. Dak Prescott: + 4.45
4. Aaron Rodgers: + 3.74
5. Drew Brees: + 2.41
6. Derek Carr: + 2.35
7. Kirk Cousins: + 2.16
8. Sam Bradford: + 1.97
9. Russell Wilson: + 1.88
10. Ben Roethlisberger: + 1.81
11. Andrew Luck: + 1.71

Luck was the 11th best quarterback of 2016, albeit if he didn't miss the steelers game he could have been higher.

Don't question my numbers, I have a degree in advanced analytics and am smarter than you.

howard is the best TE to come out of the draft in years. he was underused at bama because he was such a good blocker and they don't pass that much, but he's proven he's also a big play threat.

>The Cowboys restructured the contracts of LT Tyron Smith and C Travis Frederick, freeing up $17.3 million under the salary cap.

>They both dropped their base salaries to the veteran minimum, converting the difference into a "signing" bonus. The Cowboys do this every year, and it has allowed them to keep highly-paid veterans while supplementing the back end of their roster with cheaper talent. It's also why hitting on Dak Prescott was such a huge development for the franchise. Once they part with Tony Romo, Dallas will go from having one of the NFL's tightest cap situations to one of the best.

his sample size is just so small though, plus there's the stigma of a "system" around the patriots. i do think that the browns could be swayed into giving up pick #12 for him, but the bears don't have that luxury.

forrest lamp and dan feeney are the top 2 guards in the class. lamp's stock seems to be rising recently, so he'll probably go ahead of feeney, but both will probably go late 1st to early-mid 2nd round. dorian johnson from pitt and dion dawkins from temple are the next best two, but they're more 2nd to 3rd rounders, and dawkins may be better at OT. as for centers, the only two worth picking in the first 3 rounds are ethan pocic from LSU and pat eiflein from OSU
>>
>>74314696
>his sample size is too small
When you take into account he was already a 2nd round pick in his initial draft, his 2 games and time in NE only adds to that.

Then you have to take into account the market. Teams give up first round picks for QB's all the time, at least twice last season with Goff and Bradford.
>>
>>74314696
see I don't really get the sample size argument, it's not like we've seen any draft prospects in the pro game.

Why is it okay to draft a guy like Tribusky in the first who has only like 13 college starts and no pro starts but a bad idea to draft a pro back up who was a second round prospect with the upside of a franchise quarterback who's already been seasoned a little bit so

just imo.
>>
>>74312437
cowboys buck the trend with #1 shitposting without any success
>>
>>74314878
>>74315063
because jimmy G is 25, and trubisky is 22. also i don't think it's fair to compare the bradford situation to this. the vikings thought they had the means to compete for the super bowl and panicked; any team trading for garop wants to be able to build around him, and giving up your first pick is a terrible idea if you want to do that. the goff/wentz trades are different because those teams were paying for the right to be in that draft spot; with jimmy there isn't the threat of another team getting him before you the normal way because he's not in the draft.

i'm higher on jimmy than most people, i even suggested that he may be worth the 12th overall pick in this thread. but a lot of people are going to look at his game and a half sample size and only see a masterful belichick gameplan. people spend their own first rounders on draft picks all the time, but it's tougher to rationalize giving up a pick to another team for a QB that will be 26 and a free agent by the end of this year.

According to overthecap, the Chifs have about 4.7m in cap room.

Realistically, Nick Foles is getting cut (6.75m saving), and I think Jamaal Charles probably should go as well (another 6.2m)

Leaves around $16m in cap room, which, assuming Berry wants to stay and the Chiefs don't dick around with health insurance stuff like they were rumoured to have done last year, should be enough to keep him.

Poe will go if the Berry deal gets done, which hopefully won't be as big a loss, given Chris Jones was bretty gud last year.

True. But now with cap space free'd up Wilcox can get signed, Carr can get signed if he decides not to retire and also FA and Draft coming up

Lee has been healthy 2 straight years since new workout and moving to Weak Side LB and Jaylon Smith is like 99% right now

With Fredrick and Smith restructured the Cowboys have lots of places they can get rid of dead money and sign some people off FA. Maybe an Alfred Morris + Tony Romo trade to whoever?

I think the Bears are gonna win a few more games then people think they will. They had a killer draft last year and were one of the most injured teams in the league. No QB is obviously a big issue but that defense has a lot of potential and their Oline/running game is really shaping up. Depending on how the off-season goes, the Vikings could end up being the worst team in the NFCN.

that's good for them, neither floyd nor whitehair looked good in week 2, but it was week 2.

i still don't think they're going to win many games with either matt barkley or a rookie QB, especially if alshon leaves.
>>
>>74321075
Receiving threats and a quarterback are probably their biggest concerns right now. If they continue to draft well though I can definitely see them becoming a threat in the distant future. That Cutler contract is so fucked though, I don't know how they are gonna get rid of him.

i like it a lot actually, though i would hope we would pick up maybe pierre garcon and a decent corner in free agency to go along with it.

i'm a big fan of john ross because he reminds me of djax, and wilson is a borderline first rounder so that's a great pick. we can also always use depth on the DL/OL, especially someone like mcdermott who could be the starting RT in the future, and samaje perine is a fucking tank. i'd be happy with this
>>
>>74321302
McDermott is one of my draftfus this year. Him and Banner are huge beasts. One thing thats almost as important as giving Wentz someone to throw to is making sure he has time to throw to him. Eagles OL just cant stay healthy and those guys would help a lot.

I really like this one too but most of theae guys would be waaay off the board before their spots in this mock. Its a pipe dream but itd get me awfully excited for next year. First-pick really needs to update their rankings more often this time of year

cook and lacy will be resigned and have one of their best seasons.
lang wont get a contract but Tretter or Sprigs will somehow plug that gap competently.
their top 3 WRs will be among the best in the league if not the best.

Thompson WILL sign a FA corner.
Rollins and Randie will phase out of the sophomore slump.
Fackrell will be a big play maker and Martinez will make a jump to the probowl.
Clay and Perry (signed) will combine for around 23 sacks.

you're rational at least, and it's not even I don't think they'll want him, I just don't think they'll trade for him.

He's a stop gap, and I'm not sure how'd they even manage his cap hit on his current shit deal. It doesn't make sense to trade when the bears are going to cut him anyway.

>>74329127
it's not that their ""drooling""", it's that they don't have a lot of options. You act like Aaron Rodgers type qbs are on the market.

Sherman also played through injury. Carroll is a fucking idiot. This team lacks discipline in so many ways, Carroll's Mickey Mouse college scheme only works when players are young, not older.

>90 million dollar QB
>9 million dollar O-Line

see the problem here fucktard?
>>
>>74329172
That's not the point, how can the most valuable players actually be the most valuable if they continuously choke in the playoffs?

All it means is the regular season selection is flawed
>>
>>74329150
We have the 6th pick and can use this pick on a QB, or trade down for Mahomes. The problem is that the Jets refuse to address their QB controversy and haven't addressed it since 2012. There's no definitive answer, there's no player that's going to prove himself a longterm answer. Cutler is for the short term and at best he's an 8-8 QB with his track record. I would much rather build a contender rather than buy one. Only so few things can work for the Jets at this point with the situation they are in right now.
>>
>>74329127
>He's mediocre
>He's shitty

These two do not mean the same. You're retarded if you don't think even a mediocre QB is worth something in today's NFL. Basically everyone agrees there aren't enough QBs to go around.

>>74329150
I agree that he'll probably just get cut, but given that the top 3 draft position teams are all looking for QBs, and that the current draft class is underwhelming, it's worth considering the trade just to make sure you don't have to compete with some of the more desperate teams in FA. Again I doubt they will trade for him but it's always worth considering your position.
>>
>>74329181
its hard for me to have sympathy for qbs when they make much more than 5 players combined

>>74329168
Pete is going to make adjustments. He said so in his closing press conference. I think he and everyone got very comfortable with each other. They're like his kids at this point, been together for many years. The undisciplined shit worked when they were attacking the other team and not each other.

>>74329181
The Seahawks have thrown a lot of draft capital at the offensive line. They kept drafting these meme "raw talent" players rather than people who can play. It's Tom Cable's system. Their left tackle hadn't played football since Pee Wee football. The fuck? They need to fire Cable if the O-line's a disaster again.
>>
>>74329191
it's exactly the point. There's no real argument as to why in the regular season Matt Ryan wasn't worthy of the award. Yes, it's easy to think the pats would have more playoff success because of their recent success but you're supposed to leave out any bias of past seasons out and only evaluate what they've done in those 16 regular season games.

Super bowl mvp is the postseason award.
>>
>>74329220
>Basically everyone agrees there aren't enough QBs to go around

That's because almost every team today has a solution at QB or one that can take them through the long run. Let's go over the league

>Dolphins
Tannehill
>Patriots
Brady
>Ravens
Flacco
>Bengals
Dalton
>Steelers

22 teams have at least an above average answer at QB, the remaining 10 are left with shit tier options, any team headed in the right direction will address the QB need early enough to contend in today's NFL. The problem is that the Jets haven't been aware of this since Chad Pennington left the QB position and have been mired with either has beens with solutions like Favre or mediocre to shit players like Sanchez, Tebow, and Smith, and have stuck with them for far too long.

Understand that the Jets quarterback controversy is a fucking mess and until they learn to pick the right QB for the team and not blow an opportunity on a player getting away (mainly fucking Hackenburg over Prescott as a most blatant example), that their QB position will be forever a question mark or a whipping boy for team's struggles for as long as ever

>>74329210
The Jets don't think they'd win anything with Cutler but he can work as a stopgap. Not Having even mediocre quarterback play hurts the development of the entire team. Ryan Fitzpatrick's play was so bad this year it demoralized the entire football team after than KC loss. I don't think the chiefs really expect Alex Smith to be their solution but he's good enough that it's allowed the team and coaching staff to build until they do get their quarterback of the future.

They won't really have to break the Bank for Cutler anyways, even in this qb market Cutler doesn't have much leverage.

>>74329321
First off, by definition 22 teams out of 32 nfl teams can't have above average starting quarterbacks.

it's not that the jets haven't tried to address the position in the draft, it's a combination of they've drafted the wrong qbs and/or haven't gave them a good supporting cast to have success.

I agree Hack seems like an awful pick but don't pretend like you wanted Dak Prescott all along.
>>
>>74329424
>Panthers
>No CB

Into the trash it goes
>>
>>74329379
>Dalton
As bad as Dalton may seem, he's a good enough game manager and gets his team to the playoffs consistently.
>Smith
Same with above, only better, and stats as of late point to a temporary long-term solution until someone waits in the wings. His time might be up soon though.
>Bradford
Good enough pocket passer, is dinged by crappy offensive lines everywhere he goes.
>Goff
He was a rookie, under good enough tutelage coming from McVay, a supposed good offensive-minded coach and a better offensive line, he can be good and worth the #1 pick he is.

Jay Cutler is substantially worse than all 4 of these quarterbacks. If you think otherwise you're new to football
>>
>>74329481
lol Goff hasn't proven he's better than fucking anyone

I could probably argue Cutler has had a better career than bradford too.
>>
>>74329503
A 4 year difference separates the two. Cutler hasn't missed the playoffs 10 out of 11 of his current seasons. That's fucking terrible when you look at it. Is there any QB who can be considered good who is that?

Goff has years ahead of him to get better, Cutler is a semi-bust who has proven he can't win year in and out. The fact that the JETS of all teams interested in his services to """win""" again is ludicrous and laughable.
>>
>>74329545
Has missed the playoffs*
>>
>>74329545
jets can't exactly afford to be picky. They just don't have many options in a shit quarterback draft and completely unproven quarterbacks on their roster currently.

No one's saying Cutler signing would make them contenders and you have to play someone.

Nah, I think the Lions would have done much better with Calvin Johnson last season. Look at the second half of Johnson's last season. Stafford was a monster under Jim Bob Cooter, even with Calvin Johnson. Stafford's progression the past season was due to him working his ass of in the off-season. It's obvious that he was way more comfortable in the pocket and drastically better at escaping pressure, which I think made the Oline look a little better than what it really was. If Stafford had Johnson last season than I think the Lions could have won a few more games. While I do think losing Johnson forced Stafford to read his progressions and make better decisions, I don't think it was Johnson's fault that Stafford was a bad QB. He was just in a really bad system under Joe Lombardi.

Well, let's see what we have:

Wilton Speight - prototype size, average skills, Harbaugh babby
Trace McSorely - probably the best in the B1G maybe can develop into a franchise QB with time, game manager
Clayton Thorson - Northwestern and probably the most NFL ready QB as a three year starter. Game manager
David Blough - INT machine

I don't really know why the Bolts would spend a 1st rounder on an ILB. We have 3 good 4-3 ILBs in Brown, Perryman, and Toomer, plus Josh Perry as depth. Also throw in the fact that teams play nickel more than 50% of the time, so only 2 ILBs will be on field at any point.

Converting to a 4-3, we need a pass rushing DE like Thomas. Thomas + Bosa + Ingram would be unstoppable
