SCOTTY

After a first match in which Hughes dominated over Harms with a 4-1 win, we've got even more than we expected. High finishing, lots of 180's and an amazing comeback from Waites, who fought back from 4-2, to win it all in the deciding set.

The match reminded me a bit of Autism - Barney, and like based British OP said: I don't know what there's more to say.

How dare they put this match in the afternoon session is the only thing that comes to mind.

And that D8 closes an thrilling day of men's quarter finals. There will be a new champion for 2016 as Scott Mitchell crashed out in an uninspiring performance against Richard Veenstra. Despite a fightback from the farming diabetic, his performances in the first four sets were incredibly poor against an equally poor Dutch debutant. That was half 2014 Scotty and half 2015 Scotty. Here's hoping he gets his head together for the rest of the year, because he's much better than what he showed.

Earlier, Jeff Smith survived a scare from an on-form Dennis Harbour who dominated the first two sets with a near-105 average but never reached those heights again as he collapsed, with the Silencer taking the next 5 sets with nearly zero reply. Two semi-finals in two appearances has to be applauded.

Earlier today, Duzza's quest for a World Final will have to continue as he let a 2 set lead slip to that gritty ex-champion Scott Waites, who won another last set decider. The BDO number 1 threw away match darts again for the second time in two years; you have to wonder if he'll ever get the chance to reach the big one. Retarded Black Countryman Jamie Hughes easily disposed of Dutch permajobber Wesley Harms before that in a 5-1 domination. It's scary to think Yozza is the highest seed left.

For the women, it's the nigress against the lezzer as Deta Hedman faces Trina Gulliver in their final tomorrow, with both of them getting past their opponents with relative ease, although Aileen De Graaf did push the 9 time champion to a deciding set but then choked.
