In the same year with me are some 130+ people in different physics programs. I only say hi to a few of them, but nothing beyond that, we just "know" each other. In my program there are other 16 people. I'm a rather good friend with a girl and I only talk to 2 other guys, but on the collegue level, not friends. I try to avoid interacting with the others .

My physics program is pretty small, there's probably less than 40 physics majors at my uni overall. My classes tend to have no more than 10 people, so we've all gotten to know each other quite well, especially when we're all hanging out in the physics lounge and tutor rooms together.

I like them but I feel like the people in my year are less driven than the people who used to be my senior. They spent way more time talking about science and research projects and arguing about math n shit, while the guys in my year are spending more time talking about pokemon than physics.

The courses I took early in my undergrad were largely pre-med courses, like organic chem, bios, etc. That was the worst. I made friends with a lot of the kids because they were decent and fun people, but there was no desire to learn or understand the material on a deeper level -- only rote memorization to get through the required courses. Getting to my upper level physics and chemistry courses was such a breath of fresh air because the majority of students were passionate about the material and science in general, but the socialization declined dramatically lel.

We have a class in our pure math curriculum that is all about propositional logic, set theory and mathematical notation. We just had a short quiz and I was the only one to get a 10 (perfect grade in these short examinations)

I couldn't believe it. It was just one question. Not only that but it was trivial. Not only that but the day before, the professor showed us an analytical method that will never fail when answering these types of questions, even if a bit longer. Not only that but I was the only person not to copy the method because I thought it was too trivial. Not only that but after talking with my peers, I realized that I was literally the only person who even used the method, everyone else tried something else and then miserably failed because turns out they lack the intuition too.

Just kill me now.

However, there is hope. This is a freshman class and we are 17. In the junior class of pure mathematics there are literally only 3 students.

At least I know that by next year, all of the helpless retards will get out and by the third year all of the average people will also get the fuck out.

But as I said, I don't hate them. I'm even fucking one of the girls I know is helplessly retarded. At least they serve as meat holes for us real mathematicians.

Its very difficult to find people with the same interest topics. Some are into analog circuits, some into control theory, almost noone is at a scientifically meaningful level.
Socialising outside of uni is so much easier because people actually allow themselves to be wrong/unknowing/ignorant during a conversation, which is ok you spergs.

Nah, chem bros are pretty cool. A lot of us are premed, but the ones that are are definitely a cut above biology students. The rest of the people who matter are doing grad school / some post-grad program after. Everyone else that shouldn't be there in the first place just can't keep up with the material.

About 90% of students in CS/SWE at my university were autistic weebs.

The social hierarchy was determined by who had the most useless distribution of Linux on their Chinese laptop. quite a few students were that perfectly annoying combination of awkward and arrogant. FFS pick one or the other, but don't combine the two. aerospace engineering students were some of the worst about this. mechanical just had a shitload of people and was pretty broad. electrical was a bunch of indians. i don't know about other majors.

fortunately, the vast majority of engineers i've actually worked with in industry have been normal and non-autistic.
