And on the subject: I tend to the opinion that there is no reason to assume that psychological gender identity has to be binary.

We live in a society that has become very complex and there are few social things that remained undifferentiated. No one gets hurt by considering themselves "something inbetween", so why the hell shouldn't they do that? I do think that people with psychological disorders are more inclined to think themselves non-binary, but not the other way around.

Gender identity should not be something that is taught. Not in the form of "men are like this, women like that" as well as "dudes, you are pretty butterflies and can be anything". If a kid asks, you answer in the most tolerant, inclusive way. But you don't teach unasked if the kids under ~ 10 years of age.

But they do get hurt when they consider themselves different from what they actually are and take irreversible steps to alter themselves in a pointless effort to become something they are not.

Children should be guided away from these things. If a child insists and genuinely believes they want to touch a hot stove it doesn't make it right to allow them to.
