Domesticated pig (Sus scrofus domesticus). This particular species of swine is a European Boar that has been subject to generations of selective breeding typical of animal domestication. Whether the domesticated pig is a species distinct from the European Boar has long been the subject of debate in spheres of academia relating to taxonomy.
A sizable bulk of s4s posting stock often confuses this species, or subspecies, of suid with the domesticated cattle. This in and of itself is a forgivable offense, as both animals are domesticated and retain an association with farming and similar agricultural pursuits. Pigs maintain a morphological anatomical structure that is observably distinct from cattle. Pigs have four-toed feet while cattle bear cloven hoofs. Pigs also posses an attenuated and upward nasal bridge unlike other species occupying the taxonomic order Artiodactyla. (Peter, Cockcroft; 2007) Pigs also a vertebral body width far narrower than that seen in cattle(Zhu,et al; 2016) Also a study undertaken at the Babraham Institute at Cambridge found that pigs posses both vestibular and pharyngeal anatomic structures that are unique to their taxonomic family (Pracy, et al; 1998)
