IPS panels have areas that look glowing or lighter due to viewing angle issues.

I'm angery because the overall quality of IPS panels was apparently better in the past, but all the manafacturers are cutting costs now which leads to uneven backlights, etc.

That was my first post in the thread about the subject mate so I'm not who you're referring to, I don't think.

Fair enough lad. If that's what you want to do, then that's what you should do. As long as you fully understand what you're getting into.

As a counterpoint, I do have a mate who joined the Army, and he said it was very good for him. He did stuff I'd never do, and had to spend a lot of time in Afghanistan and the Falklands. But now he has a comfy job on Whitehall and they even pay for a nice flat for him near Canary Wharf. But he said he had to "lick so much arse" to get that job.

He's in the intelligence corps, by the way. Not an officer though. So maybe you might want to try that route if you can.
