Because the core reason for your attachment to something lies on your sexual drive. You are an animal and you naturally want to reproduce and this is why you get attached in the first place. Masturbation is a sexual stimulation as much as benin in vagina is a sexual stimulation. Masturbation is basically a way to supress your sexual need, because you don't currently have a way to achieve it.
